Very weird business. Whatever they advertise on the website as being able to provide will not be confirmed by the receptionist. It's seems the receptionist is out of touch with what the offices does or provides. Furthermore without even confirming if biomemtic treatment is available or not a "consultation" fee of $799 is asked upfront to book an appointment. This is without acknowledging whether I'm a candidate or not. Without knowing the full price of treatment. Without even confirming the service is available from the dentist. UPDATED: The office reached out the same day and was able to explain and remedy my situation, so while I am still overall sad about what got us here, I have to give a huge shout out to the practice lead and Dr. Katie To for correcting the experience and making it right. They do seem to stand by caring for their patients completely, and it seems like my experience was simply an anomaly. -------------------- I truly wanted to have a positive experience with this practice, but unfortunately, I've had several disappointing interactions that I feel are important to share--both as a fair warning to others and in hopes that the practice may be open to resolving the concerns. 1. Lack of transparency and follow-up on payment information -- I've requested copies of the payment forms I signed eight times (once in person, multiple times by email, phone, and voicemail). Despite this, I've still not received any documentation or clear communication around fees--for orthodontic and dental work. 2. Delayed and dismissive handling of records -- After my initial visit with Dr. To, I waited nearly two weeks for answers to my follow up questions, and then decided to request my dental records so I could transition to a new provider. When I followed up today, I was asked to "be patient and wait a few weeks." This felt dismissive, especially given I am in pain and actively seeking timely care. Given the premium pricing and the promise of a holistic, patient-centered approach, I expected a higher level of service, compassion, and professionalism. Instead, I left feeling disregarded, disappointed, and disheartened. If the practice is open to making this right, I would be willing to discuss further. I think that Dr To is a very good dentist and I have no issues with the procedures I had there. I showed up for my last appointment after driving the better part of an hour just to be told that my appointment had been cancelled. The person at the desk said they had tried to call me but there were no calls or texts on my phone. I didn't get an email either and when I got home there was no record of their calls on my land line, much less a message. The desk person seemed unconcerned that I had driven from Houston to Katy for nothing, in fact she shrugged her shoulders. Dr To never called me to apologize. I feel like Dr To does not value my business and probably doesn't even know my name. I haven't gotten a reminder from her office. It's as though I never existed. I have loved my experience thus far with Dr. Katie To. Her staff absolutely excels at hospitality! I've never known such a friendly and accommodating dental office. When I first called to book my appointment, I spoke to Loren, and she was so friendly and upbeat over the phone. It really helped me look forward to my appointment as opposed to dreading it. Dr. Katie To recently diagnosed stage 2 decay on 2 of my child's teeth and recommended drilling tiny holes and applying a sealant material for approximately $300 out of pocket. The x-rays that they took did not show any signs of decay. They said it was all surface and not visible on x-ray. I was not convinced that my child suddenly had 2 cavities forming since she just had her teeth checked 6 months prior to that appointment by a pediatric dentist that did not see any decay forming. I tried numerous times to contact Dr. Katie To before seeking a second opinion elsewhere. I left multiple messages with her staff, and I never received answers to my questions as to why she was recommending drilling holes and putting sealants when she is registered as a biological dentist. Many biological dentists recommend trying re-mineralization first with early signs of decay. I wanted clarification on why we couldn't try that first. Since I never got a response to that question, I sought a second opinion elsewhere with another natural-minded dentist. My daughter had her second opinion exam a few days ago at another dentist and their conclusion is that there is NO sign of decay. I did not mention seeing Dr. Katie To before the new dentist examined her teeth. However, I specifically asked the new dentist to check the 2 supposedly decaying teeth in question again (just to make sure that they looked thoroughly enough and didn't miss anything). They said no decay present! No early signs of decay, either. Both teeth are solid, no soft spots. Definitely no need for drilling tiny holes to apply sealants. In my opinion, there is zero excuse for someone to diagnose decay when none is present. I also don't understand why drilling and sealants were the first recommendation for "early signs of tooth decay" by someone that is supposed to be a biological dentist. Lesson learned here is buyer beware! Get a second opinion before paying for dental work on your kids. Also, make sure that whoever you pick makes an effort to communicate and has their staff follow-up. If they can't even do that, they don't care enough to keep your business. read more

###UPDATE 04/30/19### I returned. today, to have my last amalgam filling removed. It was unsure whether the tooth, itself, could remain, with it already being half broken off. Dr. To and the oral surgeon Dr. G., had both previously consulted with me carefully and thoroughly, so that I knew all of my options to consider and decide for myself, with time to research it. They encouraged me to research and I really liked that. The likely expected result at that time. all pointed to extraction, which I really stressed over because I have learned a lot about the importance of keeping our teeth. Today, Dr. To worked on my safe amalgam removal, with her assistant, Blanca helping. They did a truly amazing job, keeping me comfortable, documenting progress with pictures, and explaining steps. I am thoroughly convinced no other dentist could do the great work of Dr. To. In my opinion, she is skilled in her work on a level very few out there care to be these days. She carefully worked to preserve my tooth and felt confident enough to prep and build it back up. I felt enormous relief receiving the news from her that I was going to keep my tooth! She was going to make it whole, again! I'm truly grateful to her beyond words. I already had high confidence and trust in her skills and knowledge, then, she bumped it up a million notches when she performed nothing short of a miracle. It means so much to me that she cared enough to try, to give it her very best. What a truly amazing and gifted person she is. It reflects in the way her staff is with all of their patience. My hygienist, Andrea, did an equally amazing job with the deep cleaning afterwards. She is so gentle and caring and determined to be sure I was squeaky clean before I left her chair. We had such a great experience the first time we brought our 3 year old son here that we scheduled a 6 month follow-up. Had every intention of showing up, even confirmed my apt 4 days prior. However, my son is 3. He caught a pretty bad cold. I landed at his pediatrician the day before his dental apt. I called to reschedule and the receptionist seemed in great spirits, until I indicated I needed to reschedule. Then I was told as a convenience just this once due to illness, they'd waive my less than 48hr cancelation fee. I told her never mind the reschedule. There are other dentists and front office staff that understand kids get sick without notice. Great place for adults not so much for kids. read more

I had my initial visit last week. Everyone at the office was GENUINELY friendly and VERY professional (from Debbie (receptionist) to Blanca (dental assistant) to Andrea (dental hygienist) and Dawn (finance). Check-in and out process was quick and efficient and they don't make you feel rushed. Dr. To spent a considerable amount of time with me and explained everything in detail. She went above and beyond in educating me on the disease process and the treatment options....practically everything I would need to know about my teeth. She and Blanca were so patient through the entire process. Not at any point did I feel rushed to make any decisions. I felt very relaxed and comfortable through the entire 2+ hours I was there. As a person in healthcare as well, I can tell that Dr. To loves her profession and is passionate about doing the best thing for her patients.
