We had a couple of pastries here. Nothing stood out too much, and we came towards the end of day so selection was limited. Passionfruit tart: it was tart enough and the tart itself was buttery. Hazelnut mocha croissant: this may be my favorite by a very small margin. Orange croissant: I forget what the other flavor was in this croissant, but it wasn't overly citrus flavored and I enjoyed it more than I expected. Miso chocolate chip cookie: this was perhaps the pastry that everyone liked most. I couldn't taste the miso though. Golden milk latte: it was smaller than I expected as it wasn't filled to the brim. okay friends, the rumors are true!!! this bakery chain is james beard award winning alright, and it is just so delightful. Loves: + yummy pastries and sandwiches + ham & cheese croissant ($7) was my personal fave, but also enjoyed my chocolate baguette ($7.50) which is only sold on Saturdays + line moves fast + store is spacious and clean + friendly staff while this location is takeout only, there are two other locations in east hampton that are restaurant/dine-in. regardless of where you are, if you are out east this bakery is a must. :) read more

When I first walked past Carissa's, I was highly skeptical. There are so many places in Sag Harbor where the food isn't commensurate with the price. With its high end minimalist decor- I must say I was prepared to be underwhelmed and was pleasantly surprised. Their baked goods are damn good. And it isn't just like, oh that's a good croissant... no, their flavors are excellent and surprising. I'm a sucker for a raspberry tart, and was shocked when the custard inside wasn't the traditional vanilla, but was a refreshing yuzu instead. If only more bakeries made raspberry tarts that way! Anyways, it's pricey, but well worth the cost. read more

The layout of the bakery is so clean and aesthetically pleasing. All of the to-go lunch options and bakery items are clearly displayed for you. The servers are quick and helpful and get you out of there in very little time. I had the pistachio croissant which was a little bit of a let down. Really beautiful looking but the pistachio flavor wasn't great and the chocolate inside of it was just a stick of unmelted chocolate that overpowered the whole thing. Same with the coffee - just mid. The ham sandwich however..... omg. It was SO GOOD. I will return for that ham sandwich. It was delicious and perfectly sized and just overall a 10/10. read more

I so rarely Yelp, but here is my outrage. As for background I infrequently come to Carissa's, though the food is beautifully presented, the store is gorgeous. It's off season and there was no line... Today I ordered a decaf cappuccino. I know in life people no longer carry coins, and it is not the inconvenience of a 50 Cent up charge; it is the sheer vulgarity of it. I doubt many people question the cashier. I always find that an upcharge for oat milk is somewhat offensive but given that it's not as ubiquitous as milk I often ignore it, but today I was charged a staggering one dollar up charge for oat milk (not the source of my outrage) and also (steel yourself...) an egregious $.50 because the order was decaffeinated! The cashier, sheepishly, said I should let ownership know. I did not see a suggestion box. He told me I could send an email. I figure, however, if I was going to send an email I would rather log back onto yelp and share this small outrage. I'm a firm believer of cutting my nose off to spite my face :) I will not be back at Carissa given that ownership thought, even for a moment, that this would be acceptable. There are loads of other coffee options in town. I always tip liberally, but gouging is unforgivable. This yelping has been cathartic and I do hope that Carissa receives a customer boycott but I fear I am whistling into the wind. PS And this is serious as it's a health concern, my wonderful girlfriend, who can afford an upcharge, has an essential tremor and cannot tolerate caffeine... read more

The pistachio/chocolate filled croissant was HUGE and had lots of filling, it was delicious. The almond croissant was also HUGE and had plenty of delicious almond filling. The chocolate croissant was smaller and had a good amount of chocolate filling as well. The hibiscus iced tea was unsweetened and refreshing after yoga class. I would go back to try their lunch sandwiches and coffee drinks. read more

After a morning at the dog park we hit Carissa's bright and early. I can't get enough of the smell here. Home made ice cream, their baked products of course, and other artisanal small business products available. EXCELLENT COFFEE and fantastic tea. We shared a raspberry/chocolate croissant filled with decadent but not overpowering fresh raspberry compote and dark chocolate filling. Magnificent. They only do their egg sandwiches on sourdough so we opted to continue our breakfast adventure elsewhere. Really wish they could've done an egg sandwich on their Parmesan bread though :o read more

Really good pastries. This was my third time having Carissa's. My first and second were at the East Hampton location. I had an amazing experience all times, and really enjoy the ambiance and interior design of the bakeries. This time I ended up getting a croissant, a pan au chocolat, a roast beef sandwich, and a probiotic drink. The goal came out to be around $45. This place isn't cheap, but it is worth it. I loved the flakiness of the croissant. It was the perfect flake to softness ratio, and the quality of the the chocolate in the pan au chocolat was also amazing. The roast beef sandwhich was pretty good as well. It was stuffed with arugula and mustard, both of which I'm not huge fans of, but it all came together. Overall, I make it a point to come to Carissa's everytime I come to the Hamptons because it's just so good! read more

They have poor customer service which I wouldn't care about if the food was delightful, but they never answer their phone for questions or to even place orders. My dad said we should come here today cause he couldn't stop thinking about these croissants. I understood what the hype was all about after the first bite. When you walk in you notice a few things right off the bat. 1.) this place is very clean and the interior is very bright 2.) lots of bread to pick from 3.) it smells AMAZING Pretty crowded for a Sunday morning, but the line moved pretty fast. We ordered an assortment of baked food to try (see pictures) and coffees. They sell drip coffee so you're limited to one size, fyi (but the coffee is delicious). The total was around $35 which is reasonable price point. Now let me talk about the toasted pistachio croissant...the LAYERS on this thing was incredible. It was so flaky. First bite tasted like pastry heaven. I think there was a pistachio crème inside of it along side a chocolate one. I wish the pistachio crème was a little stronger cause the chocolate was definitely overpowering. Still it was absolutely delicious. I'm coming back for this bread. It was a solid 10/10 for me. Definitely stop by if you have the chance. The bread is freshly made and it's worth the trip. read more

Must try: Pistachio Croissant (heavenly), Raisin Snail (flaky, light sweetness), Prosciutto/Gruyere Croissant (savory, very filling, perfectly paired with the grainy mustard). Step into HEAVEN!! This new bakery (2nd Location, 1st located in East Hampton) is absolutely pristine. The baked goods are simply works of art, and cooked perfectly. You won't be able to just take one bite, I certainly can't. They also have grab and go salads and sandwiches, soups, ice cream, a full coffee bar and so much more. The roast beef sandwich was so simple but unbelievably delicious. Also, the croissants are the best I've ever had in my life! The monkey bread (zap it in the microwave for 10 seconds, you're welcome) is such a treat. I also love their Golden Latte - made to order as are all of their beverages. Love this bakery but do find them wildly inconsistent. Apple turnover's can be flaky and light and filled with apples or thin on apples and very doughy. Grilled cheese sandwiches have been carelessly "grilled" and more like - warmed. This place looked very clean and modern, almost like a little boutique instead of a bakery. The service was a bit slow as the man in front of me seemed to be waiting for a long time. I ordered the pistachio croissant, almond croissant, and raisin snail. The name of the pistachio croissant was misleading as this should be called a CHOCOLATE pistachio croissant. The pistachio cream filling was not too sweet but I definitely would have preferred just a plain pistachio croissant. The almond croissant had a good taste and the raisin snail met expectations. NEVER AGAIN. After taking a class with my 9 year old daughter, we were both extremely excited to sink our teeth into a yummy pastry from this sophisticated bakery. When entering, we were already confused by which door to go in, and I am a sign reader/rule follower. Also, I've been in the restaurant business practically my entire life. Once entering, we noticed an unorganized heard of people with no rhyme or reason as to where to order. That being said, it was up to the customers to decide who was next on line, and finally an opportunity arose. Lucky for us, the man next to us acknowledged we were next and alerted the clerk. This woman was probably the rudest woman I have ever encountered in this industry. She proceeded to ask if we looked at the menu and I replied, "we simply want to grab some pastries." Then, she asked the woman behind us (who just walked in) if she could take her beverage to the register, as if my daughter and I did not exist. My daughter, very uncomfortable with the situation, kept tapping my arm because she was disturbed and wanted to leave. I got her cue and obliged. We decided to abort and as we were walking out the horrid woman said, "excuse me, would you like to order?" I turned around and replied, "not here." I will add, she didn't ruin our day because we walked around the corner to Grindstone to be greeted with a warm hello and walked out with a boat load of delicious coffee, donuts and raspberry cookies to share with friends and family. read more
