This is a very busy practice - always has been - and Dr Johnson and the staff are very capable of…read morehandling that volume - in fact, I do not recall ever having an appointment that was late - 01/14/2025, was no exception - i was seen for initial tests very quickly and on time - then i was sent back to the waiting room where i did sit for a bit longer than usual - and when in the exam room with Dr Johnson, we were interrupted on x3 separate occasions by the staff (again, highly unusual) HERE IS WHAT HAPPENED - there was an elderly patient who was in the middle of a potential medical emergency that Dr Johnson had discovered during the patient's visit - and Dr Johnson and the staff were doing whatever was needed to get the patient the treatment they needed - and the patient was not cooperating (due to costs i think) - so while they were trying to see me for my routine annual eye exam, they were serving the needs of a patient who was at risk and really did not understand it - and here is what was amazing to me - not only did they get the patient the care they needed, but they completed my exam, including ALL of the tests, and stayed until my visit with the optician (Aquiel - who is a whole other level of amazing on her own!) was complete - see, this was now after regular business hours - Dr Johnson and the staff continued to offer apologies for "my inconvenience" - which really was not much - this is a people centric practice (and they have updated their lineup of high end frames) - i highly recommend!

Dr Johnson is a very experienced optometrist and has a very nice bed side manor to examine your eyes. He incorporates high tech in the examination that eliminates the need for dilation but you can still get that if you prefer. Anyway. the whole process from paperwork,exam, etc. to picking out your frames is efficient and professional from the staff. Also, there is a wide selection of frames at different prices. I said my insurance plan must not be covering certain things now to which he replied, "I'm not your insurance company" and walked off. If I had not been in pain, I would have left. At the front desk, they asked me to put them on and everything was blurry at about a distance of 1 foot from my face. Additionally, I tried looking at my phone and it looked distorted in my hand, like it was bending. While waiting the 2 weeks to pick up the glasses I tried a pair of over the counter readers with the same script and had no issues. The only reason I went with these was because the Dr told me it accounted for an astigmatism. I let them know that I was unable to see properly and they took the glasses back to check. When the lady came back, she said, the prescription is what the Dr prescribed. I explained the issues with them and she seemed to blow me off. She said that I would have to be retested. I explained that I can only do appointments on the weekend due to the lack of timing requesting time off as this is not considered an emergency situation. Unfortunately the soonest appointment is April 20th. She scheduled me and said nothing. There was awkwardness at the counter and I asked, did you schedule me. She said yes. So I guess I was done since she said nothing and I left. It was a level of rudeness that I have rarely seen in a customer service oriented business. At no time did they express any concern or care that this mistake is quite inconvenient. They weren't pleasant, apologetic or sympathetic. Mistakes with orders happen, what upset me was the lack of customer service by the front desk staff. They truly deserve to be sacked. In fact, I spoke to the gentleman who helped me order them, who no longer works there and he mentioned that my experience isn't uncommon with the front desk staff. In fact he said the two woman at the front desk were part of the reason he left the company. I will try to resolve the issue with this company but ultimately, I have very little faith. If I have too, I will take the frames and go elsewhere and end up paying out of pocket for a new exam and lenses. I will update this post based on the resolution. UPDATE: I went today to pick up the pair of glasses to give it a few days of letting my eyes adjust to see if they work out. I checked google and yelp to see what time they were open. I get here and they are closed and it's, "by appointment only". Yelp even stated that the hours were updated a month ago. This place is absolutely garbage. It needs new management or shut down. The last 6 months of reviews are horrendous. They can't get their hours correct online and their front desk staff are like the mean girls club. Once I pick up the glasses I'm done. I will encourage everyone I know never to give this company business.

But After a quick virtual visit online, that Doctor called in a prescription within 5 minutes to our local pharmacy. At first I felt inconvenienced by thinking about finding a new practice after coming here for over 20 years. I tried for a while to get it out myself but all that happened is by 5:00 p.m. it was still in there and all other optometrists, even though they were open, said either the doctor had already left or they weren't even answering their phones. Dr Esekhigbe's staff answered the phone right away and was very courteous. He immediately agreed to see me that day. He was very personable and knowledgeable making me feel at ease in a difficult situation. It made all the difference to be able to see someone on Saturday rather than having to wait for Monday or go to the emergency room. He saw me today for my follow-up and was so happy for me that my eye is healing really well. You can tell that he cares a lot. In the world of keratoconus it's hard to find professionals who are both knowledgeable and caring. Booking an appointment is quick and easy - they never seem too busy to accommodate their existing clients. The staff has always been welcoming and friendly to me. No problems with my insurance - ever. The eye professionals seem to be top notch. They run through the regimen of tests efficiently. The doctor listens carefully to any concerns I have and explains everything quite thoroughly. Contacts are ordered promptly if not in stock and usually arrive within a few days. They are either delivered to my home or the clinic for easy pick-up. Here is my favorite part - I can get in and out in no time. Seriously. It is SO EFFICIENT.
