First time trying Caribou coffee while visiting Minnesota. I really liked that the majority of their drinks were oat milk based. Coming from some one who is lactose intolerant I might be biased but it was refreshing not having to pay extra to avoid suffering a stomach ache lol. They had a lot to choose from and not just coffee but fruity energy drink combinations, and matcha too! Went through the drive through and was tended to quickly and service was pleasurable. I ordered the oat foam cold brew from myself and got a couple of things for the family too. weekly customer for the last 3 months here. The dark coffee routinly tastes noticably stale, the light roast tastes like unroasted bean soak water. Every other time I get one of those fine looking pastry that are in the box at the front I'm given not one of the one from the box which looks delicious, but a half baked, unfinished pastry from below the counter that is more dough than baked good. Managment also allows the staff to wear offensive political items rather then keeping a professional dress code, I just want coffee, I don't want to be preached at thank you. read more

I visited this Caribou Coffee within the first two days of my being in Minneapolis: - On Thursday, after having arrived from Toronto and checked in to the hotel where I was staying. - The next day, as I had a great Thursday experience. My Thursday experience was wonderful. I had a female staffer help me with my order. I went through the drive-thru and wanted an apple blast beverage. It came in blended form, so I went with it. She took my cell phone number associated with my Caribou points. I then pulled up to the window to pay for my item. She was friendly and helpful. She allowed me to take the payment machine to tap my credit card and select the tipping percentage. This wording sounds odd, especially with allowed being used. There's a reason for it. On Friday, I got a male staffer who ruined the excellent experience that I had the previous day. I ordered a strawberry mango BOUsted sparkling tea at the drive-thru. He sounded nice through the speaker. It was not the case when I pulled up to the window to pay for my drink. He held onto the payment machine for dear life, covering the tap area that prevented me from tapping to pay. I managed to get him to move his hand so I could tap. He insisted both times that I insert my card. My card has a chip and I will exercise my right to be modern and tap. He then said that I had options to tip. I couldn't read them. I asked him to let go of the machine so I could tilt the machine towards me to see the options. He said that he couldn't. What? He said that many customers have broken it. What kind of asinine answer is that? You expect me to literally tip blindly because you won't physically let go of the payment machine so I know how much to tip you? The mobile payment machine is supposed to be handed to a customer. Why the stupid restriction, boy? I actually told him that he was ruining my experience and his colleague yesterday had allowed me to hold the payment machine. I then left with my drink, which was refreshing and yummy. Sadly, he put a damper on my experience and perception of this cafe. I should not be in a payment machine tug-of-war situation with this man. This issue needs to be addressed internally with proper training. I loved the woman staffer. Sadly, due to my experience with the payment machine hogger, it lost this customer. I regret tipping this man for horrible customer service. I should have asked him to select the no option because I couldn't see it. I got an online survey for my Thursday experience. I actually rolled in my Friday experience and did not hold back. I said that I would be returning to the Duckworth Drive location in Eagan instead. It was and is my usual spot where I always get to hold and look at the payment machine. I have never had a problem there. The general manager of this Caribou Coffee wrote back to me and apologized on behalf of this male staffer. He knew exactly who this person was and assured me that he would receive the training that he needs. This manager also encouraged me to return to his cafe. I said no until this male staffer truly get the help and training that he needs. I wanted to enjoy my stay here and did not want another horrible experience here. My drinks tasted yummy. With the apple blast, it came with whipped cream, which I'm not fond of. I got rid of the whipped cream, but enjoyed the rest of my drink. I never returned to this location since the tug-of-war nonsense. Met a colleague here for a coffee meeting. It's a good location and easy to get to from major highways. Inside there are several tables and chairs for connecting or working solo. Coffee is good and staff was efficient. It can get rather loud in the back so we chose a table closer to the front or the shop. read more

This caribou is in a bustling area close to 35/494. It's consistently busy especially in the mornings (go figure) but the service is generally efficient. Those more featured complex drink concoctions have resonated so-so with me lately. The sugar free syrups have also been less than satisfying and there are only 3 flavors. However, the dark roast pour over and drip are usually bangin. Also, what's up with the $5 medium iced coffee with cream? I know it's 2019 and sounds like I haven't had my caffeine yet (and I have) but isn't this steep? Regardless of the mixed bag, it's nice seeing this local locale remaining relevant. read more

I like the location as it is right off of 494 and Penn Avenue. Conveniently located close to Target, Walgreens, and so much more. Traffic can be a bit bothersome in this area. If you go through the drive through, pay close attention when leaving the drive thru line for passing cars. I have seen some close calls there. Inside has been fairly clean for the few times I have wandered inside. Their coffee is pretty goo but sometimes drinks are not filled up to the top, very rarely in my experience but this happens occasionally. They have never gotten my order wrong. Staff encounters haven't been very friendly on a few of my visits. I have only purchased the Caribou drinks and Turkey Bacon Egg & Swiss sandwiches. Often if I order a sandwich they check if they have it before they add to the order, which I appreciate. They normally have it but on a few occasions it was out of stock. I would recommend getting a perks account if you plan to visit a lot or even occasionally as it is free to sign up. You earn 2 points per dollar spent. It's 120 points to get a free drink and 30 points for an espresso shot. Despite the few issues I've had in the drive thru, there's nothing that has turned me away from this location unless it is very busy. read more

I've been to this Caribou MUCH MORE THAN THREE TIMES. I get distracted by the thought of Chai and chicken apple sausage sandwiches. I remember that I haven't checked in when I'm buzzing down the highway, nowhere near it. I don't drink coffee, so it's smoothies (orange key lime) and chai tea. My son's usually with me, and we can't share the sandwiches (we're too greedy), so get one each. They're bigger than you think they might be, so I find that they're worth the $4. I've had only one bad experience here, which was quickly resolved. Someone didn't enter my phone number correctly, so I didn't know that my drink was made some time before I'd asked about it. I do give them credit for usually pronouncing my name correctly. You'd be amazed by the variations I get. I don't hide my displeasure, either. My name's not THAT hard. Or my drink is so lukewarm I can drink it in minutes which if I wanted to do that I would just get a cooler. I've visited this location often, ESP when I think about Asiago bagels. I swear...something about it made me hooked. It's soft and chewy, not heavy on the dough like other bagels. The cream cheese was whipped-like, and light. I really only go to Caribou for that. And you might say, well their bagels comes from Einstein...Einstein asiago bagels taste pretty different than the ones you get at Caribou. I'm not a coffee drinker, so can't really review on the quality of the coffee, or anything like that. My go-to drink if I'm desperate and don't want to drive to a real boba tea shop is the raspberry green tea....sometimes I get it with bubbles. I have only been disappointed once at this location. It was because they forgot to give me cream cheese on the side (they are not allowed to put the cream cheese on the bagel). I didn't find out until after I left. I guess it was my fault for not checking the bag. I turned my one time disappointment into appreciation when I stopped by with my commander a week later. We were in our duty uniform at the crack of dawn. We both ordered our drinks and was ready to pay. But the two nice ladies that were working at the time said it was on them. I thought it was extremely nice. I always appreciate people or businesses that supports the military. Disclaimer: I don't know if they normally give out free drinks to uniformed personnel, so don't expect it. The lady at the cash register that took our order was very friendly and sweet, but when I was adding cream to my coffee, it wasn't pouring out so I asked the man behind the counter if he could please fill it up. He opened it and told me there was some left and handed it back. There was literally enough for me to pour in my drink and one other person. The bottom of the barrel kind of cream. I prefer going inside as a general rule (why waste gas?). It seems it takes three people to figure out the rewards for one person. Although I could count 7 staff on duty, I had to wait with my order half taken while my cashier had to help someone else. While I understand that things happen, I do not understand being dropped mid-sentence in the middle of my order. I waited for 5 minutes before the two cashiers asked for someone else to help. They apologized profusely to the poor woman who was having difficulty with redeeming her rewards. I received not even an acknowledgement of my sub-par experience. Whenever I am visiting Minneapolis, I come here to work. The wifi is awesome, good atmosphere, sufficient seating capacity and wall chargers. Environment is filled with subtle smell of coffee and comfortable temperature. I just love this place to work. From my Masters days I am used to studying in library/coffee places - and this is one of the best places I have been. And I have zeroed on this caribou coffee after trying out multiple coffee places(starbucks etc)/library. To add to it, the staff here are very courteous(some more than others - of course). I like the layout of this store. There is plenty of setting (tables, high tops, comfy chairs), natural light and a cozy fireplace. The down side is that it's a high traffic store, so don't expect peace and quiet. They also have a drive thru, but I find drive-thrus at coffee shops annoying. This isn't McDonalds. It reduces the value of the experience. I recommend parking and walking into the state instead. You won't regret it. read more

Full disclosure: I am not a coffee snob. I drink a lot of it, but I'm not the type to have an extra large, soy milk chai berry mocha latte with an extra shot and a squirt of sugar free vanilla on the regular, or even ever for that matter. For someone "normal" like me, Caribou is a great place to grab a warm morning pick me up. The staff is friendly, the drinks are tasty (and low calorie if you want them that way) and the prices are so much better than Starbucks. The environment is warm and homey, and free of pretentious coffee house regulars. Ordered a Pumpkin Latte through the drive through and was given black coffee. I returned as walk in to let them know, the man said to rush it as a courtesy to me but meant nothing to barista who was finally making my drink and looked confused when making it, she had a question for the man at the register but then she said never mind when he didn't reply immediately, so I wanted to ask if that was my drink and if she had a question, as I did not want another error, but she looked like she was angry for my asking if my drink was next and if she had question. I have stopped at this caribou on numerous occasions on my way to work. I have never received my coffee order made the way I have requested it. I am unable to consume some food products, and asked for a few simple adjustments. At one visit when the worker didn't confirm my drink at the window, she rolled her eyes and huffed. Seriously. On my way to work on this gateway to the weekend, I thought I'd drive-thru this Caribou get a pep in my step to get through the work day instead I was somberly greeted with a, "Please hold." As the order continued on the gal grew even more somber as though I'm wrong to order. The cars before me proceeded through and I'm at the window (goody another chance to still turn this experience around) instead I was given my amount, I paid in between the staff sorting out tips for the shift. A few mintues passed I'm still waiting for my coffee and the gal comes back to ask for my payment- thinking I was a different customer. I had to take away another star. This could have been an off day. I'm not sure but their Malted Mocha with milk chocolate is delicious. It's sweet with a hint of malt. Perfect for me who typically doesn't order malted drinks since most of the time the flavor is too heavily malted. read more

Don't get me wrong I like Caribou, however this location is mediocre. I told the lady that the oatmeal wasn't good (mixed wrong) and she didn't even bother to ask me, if I wanted something different. If you can't type an order right and then you don't make the order right and then you take a long time to figure out the order and then you still make it incorrectly ....you get one star. Very disappointed with the speed of service. Recently I stopped in (did not use the drive-thru) at around 10:00 am on a Saturday morning and ordered a hot coffee and a breakfast sandwich. It took what felt like forever for the sandwich to come up, although by my watch it was 18 minutes. That's simply too long a wait, even on a busy Saturday. I love the convenience of the drive thru, the employees are pleasant (they never act as if they are doing you a favor when they serve you) and the quality is good. I just wish they didn't leave so much space at the top of the glass when I get a smoothie (today it was 3/4 inch) and that they brewed their iced tea (instead of using a concentrate).
