Dragon fireballs

Caribbean Sushi had me rethinking and expanding my notions of what sushi is and what it can be. This is such a good restaurant. Everything was fresh tasting and mostly balanced. Lots of interesting options that taste amazing. The fish rolls are good, but the vegetarian ones are perspective shifting. Service was excellent. Great spot for a casual date night.

This kept popping up as a recommendation on Yelp. The Garlic Edamame is delicious. The Arepitas were good but even better with the dipping sauce. We also tried the Caribbean sushi roll and poke bowl. My daughters got kids cali rolls. Everything was good. Service was fast! Ambience is fun. They have fake plants, fun lighting above the sushi bar, & music videos playing on the tv.

ABSOLUTELY BEST IN TULSA AREA. My son and I have been coming here for over a year consistently and we have never been disappointed. Amazing staff and best sushi around.

I was visiting my girlfriend in Tulsa for a few days last week. She was excited to share with me that Tulsa was hosting a Vegan Chef Challenge with over 60 restaurants competing in the challenge. She showed me the website and mentioned a few places in town she hadn't tried yet, but was excited about items on their menu. CS did not disappoint, when we walked in we were greeted at the hostess stand immediately. We shared we were there for the vegan challenge. A very friendly young man was excited to hear that, he asked if we were interested in a table or bar seating. We decided on the bar, so we could watch them create the yummy rolls. He spent quite a lot of time going over the vegan item challenge items with us, as well as other items that were vegan, or could be easily made vegan on their menu. We decided on the dragon fire balls appetizer and the trio. Don't forget to check in on Yelp- you will get a free miso soup. I showed him our checkin, and asked if it was vegan. He said it wasn't, but quickly offered an alternative of a house salad for each of us. We enjoyed all of the rolls we tried- and would be hard pressed to pick a favorite. We did try, and each time we took a bite would would decide that was our favorite. But then the next time we tried another one and then that was our favorite. The young man later came to ask how our journey with the vegan challenge was going. We told him this was our first time in, but that we would definitely be back. He shared this was a family owned/run business. That his sister is vegetarian, so that was why they had so many vegetarian/vegan options. We really like the decor, very pleasant and inviting dining experience. We both used the restroom before we left. Even during the busy lunch rush, they kept them well stocked and tidy.

Jalapeño alternative

Normally, I love Caribbean sushi and I go here quite often. However, today was a tragedy. I was not met with satisfaction. In fact, I was met with quite the opposite; dissatisfaction. We placed an order, drove to the restaurant, and paid for it. Upon arriving home, we discovered that our order was incorrect and we were missing one of our delicious poke bowls. We called back and replaced the order for the poke bowl and also requested a side of jalapeños. Once we arrived back home, we realized they failed a second time, and forgot the jalapeños. It's not worth the drive just for jalapeños, so I'll be forced to use hot honey instead.

Spicy Red Norimaki [Tempura Shrimp]

11-11-2023 Went with my Son and D-I-L to his favorite restaurant. I had the Spicy Red Norimaki and a Salmon Poke bowl with added strawberries, masago, and Serrano pepper. Poke Bowl was beautifully presented, tasted great and was filling. Pickled ginger on both dishes was great. Exceptional customer service by friendly owner/chef and waitstaff. If you go, check hours account split shifts Tuesday-Friday and closed Sundays.

Caribbean & California Tempura Rolls

My daughter wanted sushi for her birthday dinner and we decided to try somewhere new. Firstly, I loved the atmosphere, such a fun tropical vibe! Our server was excellent and gave good recommendations. We had a boba tea, arepitas for an appetizer, two tempura rolls and a poke bowl. Everything was absolutely fresh and delicious. The arepitas were so good, I've craved them since!

It was good but pricey. The rolls were well put together and tasted great and the selection was abundant.

You know you're about to eat at a "nice restaurant" but that you would be welcome in all types of dress anytime of day. I went to the restroom while my husband ordered drinks, I told him to surprise me. The waitress helped him order and he ended up ordering a drink called The Bees Knees. I loved it! He got a ranch water, boring lol. For an appetizer we shared the Crabback. It's basically a fancy crab cake but man was it delicious. Best crab cake type appetizer I have ever had. For dinner we shared the Escovitch Red Snapper. It came with rice and beans and plantains but we traded the plantains for the butternut squash soup. The fish was so tender and flaky. It was topped beautiful, thinly sliced pickled veggys and two huge grilled shrimp. The rice and beans were mixed together and the perfect pairing with the fish. This dish was 10/10 and we will definitely get it again. The butternut squash soup was so creamy and flavorful, best we have had. This restaurant is such a great place to try new food and get some of the yummiest drinks. It's a great place to eat if you are downtown for a concert or show. If you like to expand your horizons and try unique food that is hard to find anywhere else, if you can even find it, then run to Sisserou's in downtown Tulsa. The bread starter comes with butter or a spicier, saucy spread, which is delicious and has a brief, sharp zing that' hits and leaves quickly. Yes, thank you! My wife got the jerk fried chicken which was prepared almost like chicken fried chicken, with cream gravy and a biscuit rather than what you'd expect more traditional "fried chicken" to look like. Also came with a small corn cob on a stick with spices on it. She said the jerk wasn't very spicy, which some may prefer. We eat here several times a year. It's reliably good every time but doesn't reach excellent.

Yay for one more Honduran restaurant in Tulsa! If you haven't tried their food yet and wonder what…read moreit's like...similar to other Central American countries, the staple ingredients are corn, beans, tomatoes, salty cheese, grilled meats (chicken, pork, beef) and seafood. It's different though in that it also uses tropical fruits like plantain and coconut, reflecting the African and Caribbean influence. If it's your first time trying it, I'd suggest the baleada--folded wheat-flour tortillas with stuffing of your choice (fried and mashed red beans/meat and avocado/scrambled eggs), crumbled white cheese and Honduran-style sour cream. I also recommend the tajadas--sliced and fried green plantains with cabbage and other veggies and the meat of your choice (ground beef/chicken). It's a lot of food, so you might need a to go box. For drinks, my favorite is the tamarind water. It's so refreshing! To end your meal, ask if they have any semitas. They're like the Honduran version of conchas (a lightly sweet bread covered in a crunchy sugar cookie-esque topping) but dare I say---even more delicious! I usually just eat the sugary top of conchas but the semita bread itself is so good on its own. I'll come back to get just a bag of those. The space itself is definitely bigger than what it looks like outside. It's noticeable that they've done a lot of remodeling inside. There's plenty of seating space and a spacious bar in the back. The service was amazing! Super friendly and helpful. Aly, the owner, was there when I came in and since they weren't busy, he took the time to welcome me and tell me more about his business. He also owns the hot dog carts parked near the exits of Lowe's in midtown and Broken Arrow (which are amazing!). He also has them on their menu. Oh and if you're wondering what Catrachitos means, it's the diminutive of "catrachos", a nickname for a Honduran, which comes from a victorious 19th century general. It's also a dish consisting of fried corn with beans and cheese.

After being irritated at knowing the history and…read morejust imagining how beautiful and thriving the area once was, I thought some comfort food would hit the spot. I had a vegetable plate after staring at the menu and only seeing protein options of fish (swai, catfish, talapia), chicken, or pork chop. Black eyed peas were good; cabbage was over cooked beyond recognition and was brown; green beans were too salty, which I exchanged for mac & cheese; and the fried green tomatoes were sliced sandwich thin--the fry coating might have been thicker than the actual tomato slice. All I could taste was the fried coating. Another order was whole fried catfish, catfish filet, wings, mac & cheese, and green beans; peach cobbler for dessert and blue Kool-Aid. The cobbler was ice cold, straight from the cooler with soggy crust, no cinnamon/nutmeg. My vegetables were luke warm. Best thing for me was the cornbread and peas. $50 on mediocre food. Such a let down. I expected so much more. Wishing I didn't have a 2 day reservation, I was ready to get back on the road and head home.

From midwest comfort food to Caribbean fare to southern-style deliciousness, this little city has it all. In fact, I have yet to have anything even close to a bad meal here. And one of the best I had on my recent visit was a two-piece catfish place from Sweet Lisa's. This tiny little spot is basically takeout-only (though they do have a couple of very small tables by the door...which I nicely asked if I could eat at so my catfish didn't get cold walking back to my hotel, and they very kindly obliged). It's not a fancy spot by any means, but it's homey and has that family-owned vibe that I love in a small restaurant. The catfish meal came with two sides. It was hard to choose, but I picked house-baked mac 'n cheese plus blackeyed peas. It was all just incredibly delicious. The catfish was perfectly, tenderly fried. The mac was creamy and cheesy. And the blackeyed peas tasted like they'd been simmering for hours (with healthy chunks of a ham hock swimming in their delicious broth). I also grabbed a piece of their lemon cake, which I enjoyed later for a hotel dessert. It was all...incredible! I was there on a day when a new employee was learning the ropes, and she was so sweet and friendly, asking all my questions since I'd never been there before. While I ate at that little table by the door, a steady stream of customers arrived to grab their takeout orders. This place is popular!
