Ox tail small for 11

They should just go all the way and call this place the Jamaican Hendrix Experience. I mean they're only one word away, right? When you're in there, you have to address the server (Joe) by his first name, so. "Hey Joe". Then when you try the food you'll be like "You know you're a great little foodmaker! Foxy! Foxy". And then finally when you're too big to get out of the door - you'll be like, "there must be some way out of here!" Actually there is a tower nearby at the Veterans Hospital that kind of looks like a watchtower and it usually has birds all along it. Or we could just say that some Bailey Ave. locals have done some gang style Graffiti in the toilets and say that their trademark spray-painting is "All Along The Washroom." Take your pick. What to get: Jerk Chicken. What else: Oxtail. One of the best Caribbean - West Indian - Jamaican - Island places to eat in the region. Everything is hearty, hot, wet, filling and delicious. And made with love. The Jerk Chicken is not as spicy and flavourful as Kalypso (my favourite in town) but it's a bigger portion, it's heavier, it's hotter, it's much wetter (especially if you ask for extra saucy, and sauce over the rice), and it's significantly different enough for them both to be considered different dishes, really. The Jerk Chicken here needs to be experienced. It has a whole world of flavours, it's more subtle than you'd expect, but it's extraordinarily satisfying when you're hungry. You can't get much more full than this in Buffalo for under $10. The Ox-Tail is the equivalent of the Jerk Chicken, only with Ox-Tail. It's an acquired taste, or a matter of opinion, so if you're not into Ox-Tail then you might not like it. It's a couple of dollars more than the Jerk, and has a few different flavours and much tougher, on-the-bone meat. You have to try it yourself to figure out whether you like it or not - personally I don't mean to be a jerk but I prefer the jerk. But yeah this place is more Bob Marley man than Jimi Hendrix dude. I adore this place! It's definitely the best Jamaican Experience in town, no pun intended, Kalypso and Doctor Bird's notwithstanding. They have excellent Curry Chicken too, very wet and hot and delicious... Watch out because like all true Jamaican food, it has da bones in it mon! Oh, and their sodas (imported from Da Islands, Mon), are awesome too. Pineapple... check. Spicy Ginger Beer... check. It's in a low income part of town, up on Bailey on the East Side a little ways south of UB South Campus. It's less than a mile down Bailey from Bailey Seafood, so if you want to get a luscious wet chicken dish and the best fish sandwich you'll ever have (the Haddock Super Sandwich from Bailey Seafood), in one fell swoop, for under $15 total, hit up both places at the same time. BS closes at 8.30, whereas CE closes at 9 or 10 depending on the night. If it's already closed, then Louie's is just south of here along Bailey, has good dogs, burgers and shakes, and is open til 12 or 1am every night. You may already be an East Side regular, or you may not venture out that way usually... but the food is so good it's worth the trip into the hood, even if you're one of those nervous suburban types that believes the hype. The hood won't bite! But you will! Nom nom nom! Enjoy! And by the way, I have a bag of beans, I figured you could carry them for me? I mean, I could carry them myself, but don't you want to have a Carry-Bean Experience?

Food was good made me feel like I was home. I order ox tails and jerk chicken . The jerk chicken was spicy a little dry but good. The ox tails has a bit more fat then I'm use to and I would like to have more sauce on everything. The patties were amazing !!!! The best patties I've ever had ! The place turns to a lounge after hours and drinks are nice.

I'm not a happy camper one of my biggest pet peeves is when I order food and it's not good ‼ my husband and I grabbed dinner from here last night and my 1st problem was they had no oxtail. I probably shouldn't have even continued to placed a order at that point but I did. I ended up with jerk chicken and he got curry chicken, my food was waaaayyyyyy to hot to even enjoy I have had Caribbean food many times (like in the actual Caribbean!!) but this was disgusting to me my husband seemed to enjoy his food but I also thought they were over priced and the wait was too long. I should have followed my mind and ordered from Kalapso Another Caribbean restaurant as the HAD oxtail.!!!!

Oxtail with rice, peas and mixed vegetables one of my favorites!

The food is plain and bad, no flavor in anything. Probably microwaved. Ordered the curry goat, rice was soggy with no flavor

I am definitely going back!…read more What a great concept and of course amazing food. I would expect nothing less from the famous chef that's been on Food Network shows and is the private chef of the Bills!! Ordered the chicken soup and wow! It was fantastic also ordered the Jerk chicken w/rice and Rasta pasta w/chicken they were all the same. Melt in your mouth chicken that's seasoned wonderfully and melt in your mouth pasta with creamy sauce peppers and onions. The rice & beans were seasoned well with a side of plantains and cabbage. Took some flicks which is not like me but the presentation even in a to go box was great!!!! Everything was packaged so that I was able to leave and go back to work or stay and eat on premise. I'm so excited to have a Jamaican restaurant that has a good vibe, clean and has a great staff. So excited to go back and see what else this restaurant and the management have in store.

I got the half meal - jerk chicken with rice and beans and plantains. Full of flavor, spice and delicious. Staff was helpful and friendly. I'd say I waited about 10 minutes for my food. Plenty of spots inside and out to sit and eat, or take it on the go. I'll be back again soon!

If you want real Dominican food that you can at least stomach without being disgusted, try Latino Cuisine at the Galleria Mall. We came here and got the mac and cheese, ribs with yellow rice, and the fried pork bites with yellow rice. First, we ordered the mac and cheese. It came once we were done with our two first meals, which we couldn't even finish. It was basically a soup with a cup of actual macaroni; the rest was just cheese liquid, very disgusting, and it doesn't look at all like what they advertise on DoorDash/Uber Eats. The rice wasn't actual Dominican rice; it had corn in it. They had no moro, and when I asked for it, he put huge brown beans with the sauce that ruined the rice. Also, they only had rice with corn or white rice. The fried pork bites were really dry; they needed a sauce. The only thing we liked were the ribs slathered in BBQ sauce, which was still mediocre. The service was awful, trying to rush you into making a decision just for the food to take ages. He got annoyed by other customers asking questions and modifications. They only had one person in the back cooking, and if they don't "feel like it," it doesn't get done even if it's on the menu. At one point, it felt like we were getting punked because everyone else was getting four plates worth, and they had amazing reviews online. Huge money waste! Almost 50 dollars--back home, I'll tell you, this would have been 35 max. Everything was off from the service to the food in other places where Dominican food is common like nyc or Pennsylvania allentown people who work are respectful and make good food. They bring that Dominican experience over to the U.S, this really sucked. Sadly no pictures taken as we threw the food out and this was a couple days ago. It honestly felt like the big guy at the front was antagonizing us after the mac and cheese, every second coming over and asking if we like the food. Overall, horrible food, flies and mosquitoes everywhere at the restaurant, weird seating, and a huge waste of money if you like actual, real, authentic Dominican food.

Service- I'm BIG on service and the service at this family owned establishment is ALWAYS EXCELLENT!…read moreTo the point I feel like I'd probably have the same experience if actually visited Trinidad and Tobago. The FOOD- Is DELICIOUS Carribbean food. I love everything, the stew chicken, the curry chicken, the jerk chicken, and my favorite....the Trinbago Chinese Chicken. The patties are authentic and soooo good- Buttery, flaky (but not too much), great flavor and spice. I recommend all of them, but the curry and beef are my favorite. Lastly you MUST try the homemade drinks, no recycled store bought here. You haven't had Ginger Beer until you've had theirs. It's homemade and will clear you up in a good way...strong and sweet. The Lime is delicious! The Sorrel is like a cross between loganberry with a hint of licorice (and I don't even like licorice, but this just works). Sides are very good too. I like the Mac pie and the cabbage is on the tougher side but that works for me because I do not like soft cabbage. The restaurant itself is VERY clean and intimate. An upgrade from their food truck in ways that make me so happy for them and the community. I've been able to work here on my laptop while enjoying great food. Check them out. The restaurant itself is beautifully designed, and it opens up to a little open air stage area so we got to hear live music in the background. The little newspaper article in the window about Chef Darian's (and other local Buffalo chefs) immigration/ culinary journey was so inspiring, I love to see immigrants not only find success in America but celebrating and sharing their culture with us. That is was makes this country great. Dinner was absolutely phenomenal, I felt so lucky that the week my friend and I visited that they were featuring winning dishes from Next Level Chef. The service was excellent, the staff were so welcoming and attentive. I don't know the next time I will be able to visit Buffalo, but I will definitely be returning. However, the pastelitos were gooood. The OG chicken ones were tasty, although I was expecting potatoes & cheese inside. I totally acknowledge that this can just be my own ignorance, as I haven't eaten them in years. I really LOVED the Buffalo chicken; the flavors were consistent throughout the pastelito & there was just enough kick. I definitely plan to try this place again; the food was not bad at all for the price.
