Loooooooooove the comfy bright interior! Stopped by for lunch a few days ago for the first time with my hubby and we love it. The food was delicious (order at the counter) and hot! My drink was warm even tho it came from the fridge but I'll let it slide because the jerk chicken salad + soup and beef patty made me happy. Also stole a bite of hubby's sandwich and it was sooo good! Friendly staff - we seated ourselves and they brought the food to the table, and since we came when they open we avoided the long lunch line :) Can't wait to come back and tey the rest of the menu!

I ordered the 1 Half Brown Stew Chicken on a to go order. The chicken was tender and the dish was very flavorful. Very impressed. It was my first time eating there and will try dining in next time.

I was a little nervous at first walking in because we had reservations for 8:30 for 2 people. When we walked in at 8:30 there was a large party that had reservations at 8 waiting to be seated still. I could tell the staff was super overwhelmed and no one acknowledged us at first to the point I almost grabbed someone that was walking by to ask for a hostess. The large party was seated after about 10 minutes and things calmed down and then we were seated right away. It was smooth sailing after that. Our waiter was great and attentive. We started with the fries and crispy rice squares. Both were excellent. The crispy rice squares had the perfect crisp and the shrimp on top was delicious. The fries were perfectly cooked and had a sauce that complimented them well. My husband even asked for extra sauce for his dinner. For our main course we got the Rasta pasta and the salmon. The Rasta pasta wasn't on the dinner menu but they let me order it anyway which was very kind. The Rasta pasta was creamy and the jerk chicken seasoned well. The salmon was excellent as well. The ambience was cozy and well decorated. They also give you a warm scented towel after you eat and I love a nice touch like that. I will absolutely come here again and hope to try the oxtail ragu. I almost gave 4 stars due to the beginning of the experience but had to give 5 because the food was so good.

I'll keep it short and simple: Second time around - not so great. The noodles in my oxtail ragu were so overcooked and mushy that it was hard to enjoy. The sea bass and lobster special (priced at a whopping $65) was a tiny portion that was almost laughable. Those 2 things alone made me take off a star each. I understand chef Darian made it big since we last visited now that he's on some cooking competition show. But I'm not sure that Bratt's Hill is worth returning to.

Went here after my co-worker told me about it. It had been awhile since we had any Jamaican food so we were super excited. I understand they have a fancier menu for dinner but we just went for the casual lunch menu. You order at the counter and pay for it and then they serve you at your table. Everything was delicious and well-seasoned. Price is a little higher than we were used to but portion sizes were pretty big as well. We both had enough leftovers for a second meal so can't complain. Looking forward to going back and trying out their dinner menu!

Food was delicious for sure. I haven't had such perfect fine dining service in the area in over 10-15 years. Bravo tutti!

You don't understand...I flew from California and this was the best meal I ever had in Buffalo. The oxtail ragu is by far the best oxtail I've ever had. This pasta is 80% oxtail and 20% pasta. They are so generous!! Their entrees could feed two people by itself. The quality is unmatched. The kitchen is clean and open. I can't even order oxtail anywhere else because this place just set the bar so high. Also the service was amazing. Perfect date night or girls night out spot.

Chef Darian knows what he's doing! This spot has been on my list for a long time since they opened and I finally got over here for lunch. It's a perfect fit in the Larkinville area and offers a good change up from the usual lunch menus around town. The lunch vibes here are emmaculate on a nice summer day. The interior gives it an upscale vibe with friendly service for your whole meal. I ordered the Jerk Chicken Caesar salad and it might be my new favorite salad. (Which sounds a little funny to write) Yes, it may be just a salad but you can definitely do salad right and wrong. Chef Darian does it right! The chicken is spiced perfectly, the lettuce tastes fresh and crispy, the croutons are easy to put a fork in and don't crumble, and it has plenty of cheese. You can't go wrong with this lunch. It also has tomatoes on it but I just may have ignored those. I have to come back for their dinner service and try some of the other dishes but I might have found a new go-to spot for lunch.

    FRIED SNAPPER

I cannot say enough about this restaurant. I went for my birthday and I am so happy I went. The atmosphere is very nice. It's relaxed and classy. I don't know what I was expecting but it was a great experience. When we arrived we were seated right away. I'm one of those people that has to check out the menu before I go so I had my options narrowed down to a few choices. Our waiter Phil was dope. He gave real answers to our questions and it's obvious that he enjoys what he does and he appreciates the food being served. We ultimately decided to start our dinner with the saltfish fritters and the coconut curry mussels. They were absolutely delicious. I am learning to be more open minded when it comes to seafood and I normally would not order mussels but I know my husband loves them so we decided to give them a try. The broth was out of this world. It was so flavorful. My husband was losing his mind. I really enjoyed them myself. The saltfish fritter were a no-brainer. I knew I was going to love them and I did. They come with this aioli sauce on the side to dip them in and I was ready to lick to the plate. When it was time to pick our meal for dinner, Phil was so detailed in the description of spice and serving size. It's obvious he enjoys the food. I went with he fried red snapper and my husband had the oxtail ragu. Now my husband is a chef and he always picks the better meal. It's like he just knows what going to be good. Well this time I picked a bomb meal. Don't get me wrong, his oxtail ragu was amazing. The oxtail was tender and the flavor of the sauce was literally something I have never had but would easily eat again. But baby that fried snapper was everything. The flavor was so damn good that I didn't even care that I got the entire fish (head and all). The rice and peas that came with it was so good. I rolled up my sleeves and got to work. I enjoyed every single bite. It was way too much food and we both ended up taking our meal home. I was really too full for dessert but I couldn't pass up the unique treats. I had the mango scotch bonnet sorbet and my husband had the coconut lime creme brulee. Again, we were both super satisfied. I can't explain the why or the how but something about the cold sorbet being sweet and having the heat of a scotch bonnet just did it for me. I loved it so much. You get three scopes and I was too full to finish it. I would love to have it again on a summer day. My husband loved his creme brulee. He loved that the key lime was still present and the coconut was still strong but not too much that it overpowered the lime. Although he was pouting because he said he should have got the carrot cake to go. Ha! What I really enjoyed is Chef Chris came out and visited every table. He is so kind and welcoming. He took his time talking to us and gave us some great options from the menu to consider when we come back. He expressed that the kindness and friendliness in Buffalo is like that of Jamaica and it's one of the reasons he has stayed and continued to work with Chef Darian. It was a wonderful experience and I can't wait to return with my parents. They're going to love it.

Food was incredible. Wonderful spice and flavor. Everything was obviously very well thought out and mastered. Service was 100% on point and very friendly. The wine we had was also perfect. I will be back, many times I'm sure.

Let's start with the positives- loved the ambiance. Interior was bright and airy. Loved the tropical touches throughout the place and the playlist was awesome. Jammed throughout our entire meal. The sorrel smash cocktail was amazing! We liked our curry chicken and chickpea dumplings (spring special). And the sticky toffee pudding dessert was our best dish of the night! Now let's get to the negatives- we were 1 of the 1st people at the restaurant. We arrived right at opening. So we didn't like the fact that our food took so long to come out. We literally waited like 40/45 mins for our entrees to be served. Once the entrees arrived, we were highly disappointed. I had the Chilean seabass special. The broth that the seabass was on was cold. Seabass was piping hot and overly crispy. And on top of that it was a very thin piece of seabass so all I tasted was an overly crispy and oily crust, hardly any fish. My husband had the red snapper entree which was just alright. The snapper was cooked well, the rice and peas however were bland. Definitely could have had more seasoning. I'm hesitant to go back here but I want to go back to try the Jerk experience and hopefully that will be the redemption meal for this place. Let's see...

Amazing service and food. Be prepared for a relaxing dinner as nothing is rushed. This worked for us. We had a group of five and a couple of us did the restaurant week menu. Every bite was perfect around the table. We will be back.

Great spot for Caribbean food, but my experience was a bit of a letdown due to the lunch setup. I had the oxtail and substituted cabbage instead of rice and peas. The meat was super tender, falling off the bone along with the collagen - exactly how oxtail should be done. The stew was seasoned perfectly with a hint of spice that was absolutely delicious. I also tried the jerk chicken, which was juicy, well-seasoned, and had just the right amount of heat. No complaints about the flavors; the food was definitely the highlight. That said, I came here for lunch and was disappointed to find that the food menu was completely different from what was posted on Yelp. The service was a cafeteria setup with food served on plastic plates, and no alcoholic beverages available. While I understand a more casual approach for lunch, the experience was underwhelming, and I wouldn't come back during this time. The ambiance was casual with a lot of people from the surrounding office buildings grabbing a quick bite. It's clearly a convenient spot for a fast meal, but not what I expected based on the restaurant's reputation. Overall, the food was great and is the only reason I'm willing to give this place another shot. I'll return for dinner to get a better sense of what this place is really about, but for now, lunch was a miss for me.

The cashier was a little gruff, but the woman running back and forth between the kitchen and the front had a better business sense about keeping customers happy. She didn't want me to wait long, so I think she rushed the kitchen a little bit, which I appreciated, but also may have led to some of the demerits on the food I mention below. I was happy to see one dish I ordered, the pig intestine with fish, on their picture board above the cash registers. That gave me confidence that they knew what they were doing and it was the best dish by far out of the three I ordered. The intestine was fresh and flavorful, the spice level was high, but also not too salty. It was a lot of food. Only drawback here was the fish (tilapia?) seemed to be heavy on the breading. The other two dishes were disappointing. Penang curry with pork had good vegetables, but the sauce had too little flavor since they went too heavy on the coconut milk. The pork seemed like chicken, not pork. Way too soft and flavorless. The Singapore Chow Mei Fun had good noodles and veggies. But the curry powder was not blended in. Eating it, I could still feel it in powder form. It was also far too oily. Overall, I think they had a lot of options but next time I'd steer more towards classic Chinese, since that seems to be what they do well. I hope next time the flavors will be stronger and blended better (i.e. powders actually stirred in). I'm willing to give them another chance, since they do have a lot of dishes I like. Last note: the online ordering service does not indicate that dishes come with rice. I thought they would have rice by default, but then when I added the penang curry to my cart, it asked whether I wanted rice or noodles or something else. So that made me think I had to order rice separately, which meant I had twice as much rice as I needed. It also said "quart of white rice" was sold out, but "pint of white rice" was not, yet the rice that came with my meal came in a quart container.

The day we visited, they did not have any baked goods (they said they only have them on the weekend), so we couldn't try the peras de coco (coconut rolls). But, perhaps it was kind of a blessing because our picada was plentiful. The dining area isn't huge, but they also do take out. There are about 5 or so tables to dine in. The service was a tad slow, but very friendly; I believe there was only one person waiting, cooking & serving AND the food was more than worth the wait! We ordered the picada for 4 and my brother tried a Colombiana cola. He liked it a lot; it was lighter than a "normal" cola, non-carbonated and less sweet than cola around here. I don't drink pop and even when I did, I always hated colas. I can't say I'd drink a whole Colombiana, but I didn't find it disgusting & that's saying something. Now on to the star of the show, the picada! It was loaded with several different meats, plantains fixed in different ways, yuca & baby potatoes and 4 sauces. We were so excited when it was set down on our table, we dug in before we even got our silverware haha. The platter had chicken, steak, chicharron, chorizo, blood sausage, sausage, sweet plantain, fried plantain, fried yuca and Colombian potatoes. The sauces were: avocado sauce, mayo/ketchup, pico de gallo & a garlicky one. Everything was so, so flavorful and cooked perfectly! There was not one thing that any of us didn't like. If I had to pick my top contender of a meat and a non-meat item, I would choose the chicharron & sweet plantain.... But I hope to never have to make that choice! The chicharron were thick and crunchy. The sweet plantain were perfection. When we left we were each given a dulce de leche caramel. They also have a variety of Colombian snacks and candies for sale. They recently opened an additional, larger location at 951 Niagara Falls Blvd (it used to be El Palenque). We were told they will be keeping both locations open, but the new location will have some additional items that they don't serve at the Oliver St location. I cannot wait to visit again!!!
