Food was good. I have no complaints. They are the only restaurant in the area that's not Chinese or Pizza and delivers.

We were greeted by Tom, who was working behind the bar. He also became our waiter. He suggested items from the menu and was extremely friendly and helpful. Based off his recommendation, I ordered the paratha brisket sandwich with calaloo soup. YUMMY- no other words. He advised to dip the sandwich (with the bread made in house) into the soup- it was tasty! Note- this item is only available on the lunch menu with the soup and sandwich as a combo. I also ordered jerk wings to share with my guest, which were 8.9/10- and my guest had the wing bowl, which isn't showing on the menu. The bowl came with veggies: greens, cabbage, coconut rice. The chef was able to make the orders Treenutt allergy safe- thank you. Overall amazing experience, and I'll be back to try more in the menu and drinks next time.

The crab fritters and pepper shrimp were both great, and I really enjoyed the black rice. My waiter suggested getting the spice on the side, and I'm glad I listened because it was super spicy! I sat downstairs at a two-person table. I would've preferred a booth, but it didn't seem like they had any. The hostess and waiter were both nice. My only food complaint was that collard greens were the only vegetable option. It would've been nice to have another choice. I loved the playlist as well! My friend got the oxtail and said it was pretty large and good. Overall, I enjoyed my meal. I'd go back if someone invited me, but it wasn't a place I left raving about.

Caribbean Dish

At heart, I'm a man that truly enjoy most Caribbean dishes ( oxtails, goat, curry/jerk chicken,…read moreroti, etc ) So, I set out on a quest to give a new Caribbean cuisine restaurant a shot at winning me over. That's when I bumped into Caribbean Dish... The name got me, yes it's basic, but the title was exactly what I was looking for. The restaurant is in a small unassuming parking lot... if you don't know it's there, you probably will miss it ( so glad I didn't !! ) The minute I walked in, I felt authentic family vibes ( something I look for when choosing my Caribbean locations ) The service was very friendly, and they cleared everything up when I wasn't sure if my particular craving could be fulfilled ( the combo I desired wasn't on their daily menu ) My sights were set on the oxtail and curry goat combo ( of course with rice & peas and veggies ! ) And when I say the goat was tender, and seasoned to perfection... while the oxtails had that juicy meatiness that will for sure keep me coming back. The rice & peas were cooked just right ( texture was on point ) and the veggies still had that freshness that brought everything else together. I love my Caribbean dishes saucy and not dry ( they get two thumbs up in that department ! ) Family vibes, cheerful greeting, and amazing food.... Caribbean Dish you just locked yourself in a loyal customer !!!!! Give them a shot and I can almost guarantee you won't be disappointed !!!

I have been wanting to avoid this, but I think it's time that I mention it finally. I tried through…read moreseveral outlets to address it offline and did not get a response. This is some of the best Trinidadian food in the area, and arguably the best breakfast and doubles. But unfortunately, and I see I'm not the only one, it is the owners that bring it down. My sister was visiting all the way from NYC (where she can easily get amazing Trini food) and I was so excited for her to try this place. It was my first time coming on an afternoon, and they happen to be out of a couple of the things that we were really excited about (i.e. doubles) and so my sister tried to make a veggie platter. He asked what she would like in it and he responded "that's not a veggie" and proceeded to say other snarky comments that got increasingly inflammatory. She called him out for being rude and he actually said to me "I feel bad for what you have to deal with, you two can't be close." The embarrassment I had was immeasurable and I felt so bad for being so excited for her to experience that. It doesn't matter how delicious food is anywhere, but if the ones in charge are disrespectful, there's a moral issue. They also forgot my side of pumpkin that we paid for. Take this information as you will, but if you do go, my recommendation is to avoid talking with them as much as possible and try online ordering/pickup or delivery. It's really unfortunate.

The menu features a delightful array of dishes, including rich Curry Beef, Curry Chicken, and unique options like Aloe Pie Curry Shrimp. Traditional favorites such as Roti, Buss Up Shot, and Doubles provide a satisfying experience, while desserts like Black Cake and Coconut Sweet Bread serve as a sweet reminder of home. To wash it all down, refreshing drinks like Mauby and Solo are available, rounding out the meal perfectly. The atmosphere at Caribbean Palace is filled with warmth and nostalgia, enhanced by the lively Caribbean tunes playing while you wait for your food. Persia, who assisted us with our order, was amazing-friendly and knowledgeable about all the menu items, making the experience even more enjoyable. This inviting environment resonates deeply with customers, especially my mom and dad, who find joy in the familiar flavors that transport them back to Trinidad. Good location! Now, what I didn't enjoy was the curried beef roti. And here is why, the dish didn't lack flavor but the curry lacked consistency. The paratha aka buss up shot was buttery soft and delicious. Reminded me of my grandmother The curried chick peas and curried potatoes were absolutely delicious and both curry, while obviously prepared in a different pot, blended together well to create a consistent taste. The same could not be said about the curried beef as the beef was broken up, a bit overcooked, and there was little to no curry flavor there. Didn't really enjoy that portion of the meal and as you can see, there wasn't much meat to enjoy-the pieces were dry I also tried a sip of the sorrel and didn't really like it. Wasn't terrible, just wasn't my choice. Overall, I've had other meals from them and I actually enjoyed that. The curried chicken meal was delicious but I just think that they failed on the curried beef. Definitely plan on supporting again and likely just sticking to what I've enjoyed.

Their HH runs Mon-Fri from 5-7 and include 5-7 cocktails, beer, and wine that they offer at $2ish off the regular price. We stuck with the cocktails and had their Blue Lagoons (which are essentially electric blue vodka lemonades) for $8ish. They were tasty and after 2 of them, we were definitely ready to party. Next time, I want to try the rum punch for $10 - though I noticed the rum punch was premade (vs being made fresh per order). Unfortunately, there are no food offers on the happy hour. The spot was very empty when we arrived, maybe around 5.30p - there was one other couple enjoying time at the bar. Outside of the 8-10 bar seats, they have some lounge level seating, as well as more standard 4-top tables. At the very front of the area, is a small stage where DJ's and karaoke specialists set up. The food was really good; I had the curry chicken plate for $16ish and my girlfriend had the shrimp rasta pasta for $19ish. The food was very flavorful and came out piping hot from the kitchen. I'd get the curry again, for sure. The environment and vibe was the most enjoyable part of my visit; the hip hop and top40's music gave the place a great energy (but wasn't so loud that you couldn't chat. The bartenders were energetic, lively, and friendly. There seemed to be alot of regular patrons who knew each other and the bartenders - that's a really good sign. The star of the show was karaoke which started around 8 (when the bar was getting much more crowded). The karaoke host was great; she kept the group energized and led some karaoke style games and activities that I hadn't seen before. We ended up stay out way longer than expected because we were having such a nice time. I look forward to my next happy hour at JCK. Pro tip: It looks like they have coordinated, promoted parties twice a month on Fridays. And on the other Fridays, they have the 'standard' karaoke nights. Check their IG for the official, promoted parties.

I am no stranger to them, having seen their truck at Savor Bowie almost every single time I've gone. And I've driven by their brick-and-mortar multiple times, but never stopped. This one crossed my radar when my friend invited me to a soca party, and I was like "JCK Bar & Lounge? In Hyattsville? How have I never heard of that?" And now it all makes sense -- some time last year, Jamaican Country Kitchen expanded, and now they've got this place, DJ booth, dance floor, bar, lounge, restaurant, all in one. And I gotta say, it was a vibe. The staff was nice and I loved the decor and feel of the place. Bar was cozy and it was nice to be somewhere this late at night that still served authentic Caribbean food. They have happy hour, so I am going to have to return and get a deep dive on how they feel on a regular weekday after work. And I gotta see how their food compares to my other favorites nowadays!
