This restaurant is a carryout restaurant with a dining area. They do not have table service. You order your food from the front counter and you can either take it and go or you can take it to their dining area to eat. The dining area has a few tables and has Caribbean music blasting throughout. Patrons getting carryout can also sit and wait in the dining area until their food is ready. You will find the menu posted on a large board on the wall. They have all your Caribbean favorites including oxtail, wings, cabbage, and curry chicken. I got wings with a side of cabbage and plantains. I had them throw in a beef patty to top my meal off. It took them about 10 to 15 to prepare my food. The food was really good. The cabbage was not your typical American cabbage, but it was still decent. The wings were very flavorful and tasted really good. The plantains were amazing. They were very sweet and had a little crunch on the edges. The beef patty was pretty good too. My meal did not disappoint. There is free street parking available in front of the restaurant and within a reasonable walking distance. The restaurant has a food truck parked out front that they use for catering gigs. If we're serving authentic Jamaican food, why are we adding cilantro? Adding cilantro to every meal is getting out of hand. I've been to Jamaica over 30 times and never seen cilantro on my food. It ruins the whole meal. Stay true to your culture, there's no reason to mix cilantro with cabbage, sprinkle it on mac and cheese, or put it on jerk chicken. And as someone allergic to cilantro, you need to list it as an ingredient on your menu to avoid serious issues. If you have a cilantro allergy, DO NOT order from here. read more

I believe I saw the jerk chicken tacos in an Instagram post and saved it to my D.C. Yelp list, and I'm glad I did!! The tacos were worth the wait coming from Houston! The flour shells were soft and crispy, the chicken was well seasoned and juicy, and the peppers/onions rounded the flavor out nicely. The cabbage was bomb, wasn't expecting much it was a pleasant surprise. The beef patty was average but solid. 9/10 overall. The inside of the restaurant was small but did have places for you to dine-in. Service didn't take a long time considering the chicken was cooked fresh, but I also went after the lunch rush around 2 pm. If it was during busy hours I'd recommending placing a pick up order. The parking is challenging as there is a club within 20 feet of the restaurant. Once we found street parking, we walked up to a line of about 15 people outside then about 15 more inside. This is a good sign; people willing to wait for authentic Jamaican Food. After standing in line for 20-25mins, we ordered with the 1 person taking orders. Then, we waited another 20mins for the food to be ready. There is no room inside the establishment to sit down while you wait for your food to be ready. We got back to our place and the family member started when they realize that it just wasn't as flavorful as the truck. The feedback is that the food truck food was well marinated well seasoned and cooked much better. Also, the full menu is not available m We will stick to the food truck version of this place. It is nice that they have a stand up restaurant as well, but we prefer to have the good stuff for the prices we paid. My tongue is so happy right now. The seasoning is perfectly spiced and I can taste each ingredient of the marinade. The chicken is also flame broiled so it has these great bits of char around the skin. The rice and peas are a perfect cook and soak all the juices of the chicken. I was immediately disappointed when they advised they did not have any oxtail and it was still fairly early in the day (2pm). There was a wait for our order however, when we received it, everything was very lukewarm. The rice was hard and under cooked. The dishes lacked flavor. The jerk chicken tasted dry and curry chicken was mushy/overcooked. The Mac n cheese was the best thing I tasted and even that was lacking. But I will also say that I don't like the inconsistency of the food here at times (some days it's cold, some days it's hot) and the parking is always atrocious. Overall I would rate this spot as this: Customer service: 5/10 : not the friendliest but I order to-go so this doesn't bother me. However, a smile or 2 wouldn't hurt every now and then. Jerk box w/ Mac: 7.5/10: this is NOT your typical Mac and cheese but I love it for what it is. It's creamy, spicy and has a Caribbean twist to it. Jerk chicken is always good. Just hate they charge for sauce when it's barely on the chicken at first. Di Yardie: 7/10 : pretty standard rice and peas. Cabbage is just okay so we typically get double rice. Not many drink options (pepsi, orange soda, water) and not sure how the salmon would come out here. From a foodie critic standpoint, considering the price point, I didn't see a bathroom for the public (maybe hiding but hard to see) and there is a tipping jar (not crazy about tip jars where a waiter or waitress type service isn directly involved.). Overly loud music sometimes while waiting in line and hard to hear order number when the music is blaring. Also I just noticed I was charged $24 but the jerk box n mac says $11.80 on the menu. I only added a can of pepsi. Either update your prices properly or charge people properly . Big difference and I can't go back and ask because I am too far driving wise. It shouldn't even come to this point. Maybe I should've been tipped off when a concert stranger here was trying to get me on acid. Had a taste for some Caribbean food and Jerk At Nite had been on my list. My wife and I swing by and there wasn't a long wait. We placed our order and 15 minutes later it was ready. I had the Jerk Box' N Mac. The Mac N Cheese is a bit spicy but I liked it. You could taste the jerk chicken seasoning mixed in. The chicken was a tad cold but good nonetheless. 1 thigh and two large drums. The bread on the other hand was dry. My wife ordered the Kingston Kurry Chicken. It was delicious as well but a tad salty for her. She did say that you could definitely taste the cilantro. We ended up eating it all and I'd definitely return. Good spot, quick food. Sunday 2/11/24 I found out about this place from someone I had met at a convention last summer and after seeing the restaurants big Instagram I knew I had try it. The spot is very convenient for late nights on a Saturday as they are open from 5 pm - 3:30 am (next day). Parking is pretty bad tho and it's a takeout spot. I ordered my food through DoorDash pick up around midnight and got the di yaddie (jerk chicken, rice & peas, and cabbage) $16 and a side of their Ja'Mac and cheese $7. I wanted to try the bread puddings but they didn't have any that day. The first thing I noticed was how good the food looked, the food has top tier presentation. Sadly, the looks were definitely deceiving as the looks did not match up with the taste. The Ja'Mac and cheese was noticeably salty and was very disappointing (it wasn't good). The di yaddie came with a good amount of food (container was kinda heavy) but it was was alright for the most part: the jerk chicken was solid but didn't really have that spicy jerk taste that I expected, the cabbage was alright, and the rice & peas were decent. Overall, my food experience at jerk at nite was average at best as they severely underperformed based on the high expectations I had. I would consider their food to be AUTHENTIC Jamaican food but it's alright. I still do wish that I was able to try the bread puddings tho. I wanted to check out this place since I had seen Keith Lee's review and the sister Lynee Monae (who is really funny but serious about her food reviews). So, I jumped in and ordered the Rasta Pasta with jerk-seasoned chicken, which was out of this world. Both people stated that it has a kick, but I thought I would be okay with some spice as a seasoned veteran. When I got home and took that first forkful, my senses told me how tasty this pasta was in my mouth, but then the spice kicked in, and I was like, "What the fudge?" Was finally able to make my way here with a friend to try out this Jamaican spot. After passing by the few times from Echostage and smelling how good it is outside, it was time to pay a visit. The Food: After looking at their menu, I landed on the "One Love Platter". which comes with two meats and two sides ($30). I chose the Oxtail and the Jerk Chicken. The Oxtail was incredibly tender, full of flavor and sauce. The Jerk Chicken was the same! Incredible flavors from their seasoning and cooked perfectly. The rice was tasteful alongside with the cabbage too. Portions are big here too, so it was well worth it. The Service: Staff are friendly here. Food went out fast. No complaints on service The Atmosphere: We wanted to sit down, but at the time (Around 8PM Saturday), they didn't allow anyone to sit inside for some reason. Which was weird since I saw some diners sitting and eating their food. However, you can order at the front with the staff. The place is a little small, so I see a lot of people coming and grabbing to-go orders. Overall, a 5/5. Food was incredibly delicious! The Oxtail nd Jerk Chicken is a must-try. The rasta pasta has a lighter cream sauce with small portions of chicken and more spice than the mac and cheese, tasty. The chicken was tender and flavorful enough for me to return to try the wings or chicken meal. The beef turnover was flaky and tasty (note the meat is finely minced, sone didn'tlike that). Hopefully they still serve organic chicken, which is essential for me. This is divey with a small eating area and bathroom. I was able to try Jerk at Nite during Howard's homecoming through one of their food trucks. My friend and I both got the Yaddie option which included jerk chicken, rice and cabbage. I opted out for the cabbage and replaced it with double rice. The jerk chicken was seasoned well and the rice was also cooked deliciously! My friend also got their Cocoa bread but it was a little dry. Both of us also wanted to try their beef patty but they were completely out. The service wasn't all that great. The lady who took our order was very abrupt and there was a very long wait time for my friend's food. I'd like to go back and try another dish at their restaurant at some point. I ordered online for this experience! I ordered the jerk salmon meal, plantain, and bread pudding. The food came earlier than expected. It was still pretty warm. The jerk salmon came with peas and rice and cabbage. They give a nice sized portion! The peas and rice was okay. It reminded me of the Guyanese black pudding rice. However, the cabbage was perfection! No one else compares. The best I've had. The plantain looked burnt but tasted delish! I saved the bread pudding for the next day because it was a little wet. Listen... best decision I made. When I heated it up, this dessert came alive in the tongue. Heat that sucker up for 30- 45 seconds and .... Mmmmm... party on the tongue! I was quite please with my meal. I would be back for sure! One suggestion... can you all add jerk shrimp to the menu? Butterfly it, jerk it and put it on the grill! We (party of 2) visited on Saturday, June 1st around 8pm. Since we traveled from Richmond, VA, we wanted to dine in; however, they were hosting a private party so the only available seating were the dirty picnic tables outside. They have a large menu posted on the wall behind where the line forms. You walk up to the person at the counter to place your order and they give you a number. The place is small so there isn't much space to stand around and wait for your order, so we waited outside. After a few minutes I went in to check on my order, but no one was at the counter. I asked the young woman who took our order where we're supposed to pick up our food, and she directed me to the empty counter. I waited a few minutes and a young lady walked up. I asked whether our order was ready and she said, "Yes, just a moment," then proceeded to organize the area behind the counter and restock loads of utensils, napkins, etc. So I waited a few more minutes, then she began bagging up our food. During that time, since the pickup counter is almost within arm's reach of the kitchen window, I watched the kitchen operate. They took a perfectly gorgeous pan of already baked mac & cheese and added heavy cream to it for creaminess. As a picky mac & cheese enthusiast, I didn't enjoy seeing that. No offense to anyone who does the same, but pouring heavy cream on mac & cheese after it's already been baked is sacrilege. Anyways, there was some miscommunication among the staff and I was told they sold out of one of the drinks we ordered, but I informed them the other woman who took our order already gave us our drinks. We gathered our food and sat outside at the cleanest table we could find. Wobbly, uncomfortable, and unstable. The pineapple ginger lemonade for some reason contained a boatload of edible glitter. Pretty but unnecessary. I ordered the jerk wings, cabbage, and rice & peas along with plantains and coco bread. The chicken was good, but I've had better wings elsewhere. The rice & peas were delicious and well seasoned. The cabbage had potential but it was on the verge of spoiling and gave me a stomachache. The coco bread was unlike any I've ever had, not good or bad, but just unusual. The plantains were fantastically sweet, perfectly cooked, and slightly caramelized. I sampled the mac & cheese and was disappointed. The flavors are perfect but they messed it up with the post-bake heavy cream. It gave it an artificially creamy texture. Omg So I've seen this place on Instagram a thousand times but figured it would be overrated because influencers like to lie but baby this food is worth every penny. 2 plates were about $50. We got the jerk wings with rice and peas and Mac and cheese, the meat is literally falling off the bones, the Mac and cheese is super creamy and cheesy just like I like and not dry. This food truck was around during my DC workdays -- it was them and Wi Jammin... always an exciting time, whether it was on Farragut Square or on L Street a couple blocks up. I always recalled decent jerk chicken -- between that and Wi Jammin, I'm pretty sure I preferred the latter, but it was still awesome to support good Caribbean food in the city. Fast forward to more recently, they have a brick and mortar on H St that I was unaware of until I was hanging out nearby. You can order outside and they have some seats to dine at. I got Di Yaddie, which is their jerk chicken entree. Many of their entree items have Jamaican-inspired names, which is awesome for me with my Caribbean heritage! And I love their HBCU pride, being Howard alums. My food was ready in the time they said it would, and the jerk chicken didn't have that perfect balance I'm used to -- it leaned on the sweeter side, but was still good. The rice & peas were my least favorite part, not being quite as flavorful as I prefer.
