A must visit location when you are in Paris. Right across the street from Trocadero, the location is perfect. Close to subway stations and offers indoor or outdoor seating. The ambiance and service of Carette are top notch. The food and drinks are to be explored. There's so much to try and 1 or 2 visits are not enough. Their signature hot chocolate with cream is a must try. Omelettes are made to order with toppings of your choice. The dessert selection is crazy and a treat for both your eyes and taste buds. Definitely not a cheap place to dine but totally worth the price you pay. Highly recommend Carette and hope to visit again.

I cannot say enough positive things about our experience here. The staff were all amazing. It was very busy but as soon as we walked up, we were acknowledged and shown to a seat within a few minutes. Our waitress was so nice and accommodating. She explained everything to us about the "viral, trending hot chocolate" which we thoroughly enjoyed! We even got some goodies to-go! You can't go wrong stopping here! Everything tasted amazing and fresh! The restaurant was lively and everyone seemed to be having a great time. Can't wait to visit again!

So we never made it to Angelina's but this was the number two hot chocolate spot in Paris. It did not disappoint at all. We were greeted and we're still full from dinner and told them we would be back, and the manager remembered us and took us right away to a seat inside asked us where we were from and extremely kind. The gentleman was originally from Ireland so he spoke perfect English as well as fluent French of course. It is a beautiful restaurant with many tables and very crowded outside for the location very close to the Eiffel Tower. The hot chocolate was exquisite. You can tell the difference of a homemade dark hot chocolate and the homemade cream was simply delicious. It's hard to say anything other than it was amazing and I would definitely come back. If you come to Paris definitely go.

Incredible spot near the Eiffel Tower (and the best hot chocolate ever) Carette near the Eiffel Tower was a standout. Sitting so close to one of Paris' most iconic landmarks already feels special, but the hot chocolate, honestly the best in the world. Rich, smooth, and unforgettable. The pastries and food were excellent, and being just a short walk from the tower makes it the perfect stop before or after exploring (or burning off a few calories). The only downside: the experience felt a bit rushed, but that's Paris during peak hours. Still absolutely worth it for the quality and the location. Would definitely return.

Quite literally the best hot chocolate I've had! I was with a party of 3. We had no wait time but we went pretty late. We were sat inside. It was packed! The strawberries are also a must! Would def visit again!

I was in LOVE with their hot chocolate here. They give you a giant mound of whipped cream for you to use with your hot chocolate. Apparently, the thing to do here is also to dip croissants in to the chocolate. I thought it may be a little weird but I was pleasantly surprised how well they paired. Anyways, this location was pretty big and they were pretty crowded by the time we left. We came at just the right time before there was a line forming outside . They also have a nice selection of cute pastries so if you have the time and are in the mood for sweets this is a nice spot to hit.

My daughter very much wanted to eat at Carette during our Paris trip and we managed to squeeze it in on our last day! The first time we tried to go, the line was around the block. This was late afternoon. We decided to try to come first thing in the morning to beat the crowds! It paid off! We got there around 9am and while the line was growing, it was much shorter. Here's a helpful tip.... Decide whether you want to eat outside or inside and stick to your decision when the host comes asking in the line. A group ahead of us kept changing their answer based on when they saw people leaving from either area, and you could tell the host was getting annoyed. Our group of 4 wanted to be outside, no question, and he ended up taking us first rather than the group ahead! We got a super cute outdoor table. Be aware, seating areas are small, typical of Paris. Our server was very nice and patient with our terrible French while we ordered! The hot chocolate was literally the best! It comes in a pot, and they give you so much! We all had two cups each, and still could not finish! And the whip cream just puts it over the top! Hands down the best hot chocolate I've had. The croissants were good too, a nice compliment to the hot chocolate. They have a very extensive menu, I would love to go back and try more if I'm in Paris again.

Waited in line for about 15 mins and got seated as they cleaned and cleared the outside seating. Ordered the hot chocolate with strawberries, cream ( cookie that comes with the order), citron tarte and a pistachio tarte. Loved the bites and they definitely refueled us up for the rest of our day walking around town. Price for strawberries at 19Euros is a ripoff!!! Worth an experience. Do stop by!!

For the popular hot choco, yes! It's actually good too share, it'll be too sweet for one person (and I have super sweet tooth!). All others, including crepe and macarons are so-so. Well, crepes taste almost the same everywhere. LOL. Nice little spot that's a walking distance from Trocadero and a train station. Line was long at 10:30am even on a rainy day, so be prepared. Some locals would push you off the lane. Neighboring patisseries or cafes won't let you sit nor stand within "their area", weather doesn't matter. Of all food places we've tried, they're the only ones who asked for a tip. I'd say a little expensive and maybe over-rated but a good one-try for tourists, that said, I may or may not come back depending on who I'll be with next time.

Everyone has seen the viral videos of where to go in Paris, and Carette is definitely one of those hot spots to try. My friends and I stopped by on Wednesday morning around 11 and as we walked up from the metro station, the line was wrapped around the street. Thankfully it was only a 20 minute wait as some guest wanted to sit outside. We were sat near the bakery area and it's like a packed mad house in there. We immediately ordered the hot chocolate which comes with a huge portion of whipped cream. I also ordered a quiche with goat cheese and tomatoes which comes with a side salad. For starters, the hot chocolate is a whole presentation. It is not only a pretty rich chocolate color, it's also delicious but very rich. The huge whipped cream dollop for the table was so pretty, of course we had to snap away pictures for our social media before we took our first sips. The hot chocolate was perfect for the cold rainy weather, but very decadent. Make sure you ask for a glass of tap water to wash down the richness. It will cost you about 12.5 euros but it will give you 3 or 4 cups per hot chocolate, which is more than enough. The quiche was really good as well. Very moist and flavorful. It was light enough for a brunch but also a great balance to the rich hot chocolate. The only thing I wished for was that the bottom crust would've been more cooked instead of it being soggy. We had a great visit here and a must try whenever you're in Paris, especially in the colder seasons.

TLDR; Cute vibe just a couple blocks from the Eiffel Tower. Great drinks and good food, slightly higher priced than what you may expect but worth it. This cafe offers the famous hot chocolate which is a must, not too rich but perfectly dense for a delicious cup. You can sweeten it up and provide a less dense texture with the whip that comes paired with it. The fruit is delicious but over priced in my opinion. The crepe was good and what you'd expect. Can't go wrong with the lemon tart or butter croissant as well. The service was straight forward but a touch slow, that seems to be the vibe throughout Paris.

Service was great, and fast! Don't be discouraged by the long line, it moves very quickly. Must try the hot chocolate. It's very thick and rich. the whipped cream on the side was the perfect match. Beautiful place and delicious treats, but there are hidden fees such as sitting down fees, and the waiters were rude. The prices are much higher than other places nearby. With that in mind, I would pass this place and go to Paul. read more

This is what Paris is all about! I fell in love with the place as soon as I saw the pastries, all the Parisians and knowing it was just across the road from the best view in the city, namely the view of the Eiffel tower. Their pastries are to die for and their macarons are the best I've ever had. Also their hot chocolate made me feel like I never wanted to go home. IT was here that I fell in love with Paris. If you are a chocolate junkie like me make sure you order their hot chocolate with whipped cream. read more

Yes, it's another macaron review! My colleague told me that if I love macarons, I must try these ones. We took a walk from our hotel and easily found this location at the Trocadero. Sitting outside people watching and enjoying the scenery was the perfect way to spend the afternoon. We've yet to have lunch, so I ordered a simple baguette with serano ham. Simple yet tasty. I didn't want to even think what time it was home in Vancouver, so something light was just right. But we had to finish lunch with something sweet. We ordered the plate of 5 macarons and shared. I've tried many places here, from the chain brand Paul, to high end stores. I'll list them in order of "ok" to "oh my god!" :Paul - Laduree - Lenotre - Dallayou - Carette - Pierre Herme. I purchased a box of 8 to take home with me, and they were still delicious even after making it's way home to Vancouver. The service was polite, and of course never rushed. Interior was bright with warm lighting and decorated in a cute, old fashioned way. Need to walk off all those sweets? Had breakfast and dessert here and it was delicious. The staff is very nice and communicates well in English. It's located right across the Eiffel Tower. Although it doesn't have a directives of it like the places next to it, it's still pleasant. Highly recommend visiting for breakfast or lunch. read more

The best macaroons in Paris! If you need to indulge on macaroons or coffee while you are glazing at Eiffel Tower come by here relax have a coffee or tea and dessert. Desserts are divine! One of the best cafes in Paris. It is kid friendly and we received probably the best dining service in the area. It is also super chic and all the pastries we got were delicious. We ordered the butter croissant, the almond croissant, Capuccinos and an amazing fig tart. Get the fig tart!! They also have high chairs available for kids. We really enjoyed our breakfast there and will come back to try their famous macarons. read more

I will start by saying that yes, these are pricey, but oh, man, are they worth it?! My favorite flavor by far was the salted caramel, but you honestly can't go wrong with any of the flavors. I bought a box for 16 and they looked like jewels. I even kept the box in case I ever want to whip up a batch myself. Next time I'm in Paris this will be the gift I bring my loved ones. Unfortunately for this round, my hubby and I enjoyed every last one! read more

Stopped here my first morning in Paris seeking out some simple coffee and pastries for a fun Paris experience. I was not disappointed, the waitress was quick and kind, english friendly and the pastrys were excellent. I suggest getting the carette, a hazelnut creme, eclair like pastry that is rich and pairs well with an American style coffee. The only thing that left me wanting was the ability to get m check when we were done which seemed to take 20 minutes from when we finished our food and coffee. You also get a nice view of the Eiffel tower and its located in a culturally rich area in a roundabout that makes you feel at the center of the city. read more

You guys................. these are HANDS DOWN THE BEST MACAROONS IN PARIS. I went on a mission while in Paris to taste as many macaroons as possible and these are it! The breakfast here is also incredible, the toast and the jam, my god. The orange juice is also pretty Magnifique if I do say so myself. Worst experience in years. Price are just ridiculous: 30e for chicken sandwich with loaded mayonnaise salad, 18e for a croque monsieur worse than airport one not to mention 7e for a coke. Awful (typical Parisian) service as well. Avoid at all cost read more

Came here from a tip from a local. He stated that the salted caramel macaroons were the best in the world. My group had mixed reviews on it but all agreed that the vanilla was EXTREMELY delicious. This placed by far made me swoon for macarons the rest of the trip and even back in the states. If you go to Paris you must make sure that you come here and try it. read more

Tried this place for lunch before meeting a friend near the Place de Trocadero during a recent trip to Paris. Love the Quiche Lorraine with a green side salad. The staff also spoke good English (since my French is beyond broken lol!) so it made it really easy to convey my order. They allowed me to enjoy my light lunch ( I stayed there for about two hours) while I enjoyed the views of people walking around and me ogling at their beautiful pastry display. Since I was in Paris, I had to try their croissants and pain au chocolat, and those were good as well! read more

I consider myself a connoisseur of eggs. I love them in all forms, but this place's scrambled eggs were otherworldly. I really have no idea what they did to them, they looked relatively simple, but I've never had anything quite like it. Highly recommend the almond milk too. read more

If you have €20 to spend in a hot chocolate and pastry, I recommend to go to Angelina rather than to Carette (even if Carette is a bit less touristy, since it is not in central Paris). Indeed, I found the chocolate and pastries a bit less yummy than at Angelina. The chocolate is less decadent, and the pastries are very basic (e.g. apple pie, lemon pie... each for €8-10). And the place is way more crowded at Carette - you can hear the conversation going on at the 6 tables closest to you, and you are practically having tea with the unpleasant rich granny at the next table. In comparison, you will have a princess-like service and space at Angelina - you might have to queue up a bit for it, but it's definitely worth it. A tip though: the €2 small kouig amann is delicious and remarkably good value-for-money, if you want a little something with your drink without spending a rent on it! read more

Great cafe close to Place du Trocadéro. I got the chausson aux pommes (apple turnover) and two macarons (rose and cassis). The turnover was amazing! Super flaky and the filling was more like pureed apple than chunks. I found the macarons to be too sweet and I'd say I have a pretty sweet tooth, but it may just be the flavors I got. Either way, I'd come back for the pastries. read more

Its a classic and well known place for quality french bistro fare as well as it's famous baked goods. Well worth the visit when in the area. Friendly service which is not always the case in Paris. Food came out pretty quickly as well which is also not always the case. Prices a LOT lower if you get food to go. Bakery sells a lot of the famous macaroons and they were quite good. Also liked the quiche which was dense but very flavorful. Great people watching on the street seats. read more

Fantastic cafe and surprisingly good for being in a tourist centric area. Service was prompt and attentive. Hot chocolate was incredible. We sat outdoors despite it being rather cold but the heat lamps give off a good amount of heat. We sampled the macaroons, crepes and eclairs. Oh my. Sweet tooth satisfied!!!! Croissants are amazing. Chicken club was super expensive and not great (dry but with some coleslaw that was pretty mayo-heavy. Service is friendly but a little slow. Nice bustling environment. Prices are crazy. I paid $43 USD for a chicken club, croissant and tea. I would recommend if you stick to pastries, otherwise move along. read more

We had breakfast here and I found it to be expensive. The atmosphere is nice and they draw a large crowd but I didn't feel it was worth the money. I had an egg and coffee and my daughter had an Almond Croissant and coffee and it came to about $40 euro. The coffee and croissant were both very good but the eggs were runny. read more

I found the place ahead of times after reading good reviews about the French macaroons. I was very excited and embarked on a long walk to find the store. It was in a great location, super close to the Eiffel Tower. The prices were a bit high, but I am always willing to pay more as long as I'm getting something worthy of my money. The French macaroons I purchased were so worth the price. They were amazing. I bought a book and took it home with me on a very long plane ride. I wouldn't recommend that actually cause they got smaller and stuck together. Enjoy them fresh. But they were still so good after a nine hour journey on a plane. They were truly unlike anything else. The drinks were also so good, really enjoyed it. Most definitely worth the walk and price! I'll definitely be going back when I'm in town. read more

I came here at night to get some macarons and a croissant for breakfast the next day. Then I felt like getting a tea and relaxing a little so I sat down and ordered one. It's a nice cafe near the Eiffel Tower. Tea was so overpriced at €8.50. Macarons and croissant were normal-priced. The macarons were really good. They're as good as all the other top places in the city and there filling was slightly more than usual. The croissant was also very good the next day. Overall, nice place but a bit pricey due to the location. My advice, stop by for the macarons. Dine in if you're ok with overpaying. read more

Breakfast at Carette is fine for those with the taste of American cuisine. Being mistaken for one by the staff and served bland eggs and American style coffee instead of my order certainly left a bad taste in my mouth. Not worth the trek or the hype, if I wanted American style French food I'd eat at McDonalds. At least their macarons looked better. read more

Best chocolat chaud! (Hot chocolate). Not too sweet. I hate it when it's like a milk chocolate bar with too much sugary sweetness. Theirs is dark and sophisticated. Pricey at $11 with cream but so worth it in my opinion. And consistent too - I went twice, one year in between visits. Grab a teeny tiny "canapé" or tea finger sandwich prepared for take away - a perfect snack on the go. Egg salad was good. read more

Yes, it is true Carette is very well situated and has probably one of the best views in Paris. And yes it is also true that their éclair is the best éclair around. So then why hesitate between the two other cafes that sandwich Carette? Don't. Carette may be in one of the most tourist spots in Paris yet it still has the ability to make you feel like a local. If anything there are older local women and their tiny dogs than tourists. Hard to believe places like this still exist. It is great for an early breakfast, lunch, or even a tea break with a little macaron while enjoying Paris prized possession, La tour Eiffel. The pastries are all good and the people just look chic. Carette is a staple in Paris and from the looks of it that isn't changing any time soon. read more

Beautiful Parisian cafe with delicious macarons! My husband and I tried Laduree, Pierre Herme, and even McDonald's macarons in Paris and Carette's macarons were by farrr our favorite. It was so good that we chose to bring a box of Carette's macarons (over the famous Laduree) with us back to the states for our friends/family. Try their rose and pistachio flavors! Those were our favorites. We went to Carette three times during our stay (twice for a meal and the last to pick up the gift box of macarons) and while the macaron service is quick, the meal service is a bit slow. But, this was because they were always busy, being that they are located right next to the Trocadero overlooking the Eiffel Tower. A bit pricey, but I think it's worth a visit if you're looking to dine at a Parisian style cafe. read more

I was a little wary whether this restaurant would live up to the hype and let me tell you it does! We got there an hour before they opened and were the first ones there. The line starts to form about 30 mins before opening. I got the Carette brunch, which came with the signature croissant and hot chocolate with cream, your choice of juice, toast with butter and jam of choice, and scrambled eggs of choice. The hot chocolate was definitely the star of the show! It's very rich but not too heavy and the whipped cream helped cut the sweetness. The croissant was good as well. I also enjoyed the strawberry jam as well as the orange juice. The mushroom eggs were good but nothing crazy in my opinion (I'm not a huge egg person so I may be biased). Finally we also got a side of French onion soup, which had a certain depth to it I never had in any other but was very delicious! I would recommend getting the carette brunch as it came with a variety of food and was reasonably priced. The service wasn't the best, our server ended up taking a 30min break after the place opened and never brought us our extra water, but the gentleman that helped up pay was very nice and efficient. I can't guarantee quality service, but the food lives up to the hype! I recommend getting there early to beat the crowds for a Parisian breakfast you will never forget !! read more

Stopped by Carette Café and it completely lived up to the hype! Their famous hot chocolate topped with a mountain of fresh whipped cream is a must-try -- rich, thick, and absolutely heavenly. It's easily one of the best hot chocolates I've ever had in Paris. I also ordered their Roasted Sea Bass, which was cooked to perfection -- tender, flavorful, and beautifully plated. The seasoning was subtle and elegant, just what you'd expect from a classic Parisian café. The atmosphere is charming and elegant, with a great view and friendly service even when the place gets busy. Perfect spot for a relaxed lunch or an afternoon treat. Waited for about 20 minutes for a table, which didn't seem long as what it usually is. Hot chocolate was very good, but the service was poor. It is way too busy to have good service. There was little attention paid to detail. Ordered a coffee as well, which came out cold, when asked if it could be refunded, we were denied. High prices due to location and reputation. Also you will have to order two hot chocolates if you want to share, a single is 12 euros even thou it could serve two. read more

I enjoyed the hot chocolate, fruit cake, and mimosa at Carette. The hot chocolate was rich and velvety, almost like drinking a liquid dessert. The fruit cake was moist, flavorful, and filled with real fruit. The mimosa added a light, bubbly touch, perfectly complementing the sweetness of the hot chocolate and the fruitiness of the cake.
