A must visit location when you are in Paris. Right across the street from Trocadero, the location is perfect. Close to subway stations and offers indoor or outdoor seating. The ambiance and service of Carette are top notch. The food and drinks are to be explored. There's so much to try and 1 or 2 visits are not enough. Their signature hot chocolate with cream is a must try. Omelettes are made to order with toppings of your choice. The dessert selection is crazy and a treat for both your eyes and taste buds. Definitely not a cheap place to dine but totally worth the price you pay. Highly recommend Carette and hope to visit again.

I cannot say enough positive things about our experience here. The staff were all amazing. It was very busy but as soon as we walked up, we were acknowledged and shown to a seat within a few minutes. Our waitress was so nice and accommodating. She explained everything to us about the "viral, trending hot chocolate" which we thoroughly enjoyed! We even got some goodies to-go! You can't go wrong stopping here! Everything tasted amazing and fresh! The restaurant was lively and everyone seemed to be having a great time. Can't wait to visit again!

So we never made it to Angelina's but this was the number two hot chocolate spot in Paris. It did not disappoint at all. We were greeted and we're still full from dinner and told them we would be back, and the manager remembered us and took us right away to a seat inside asked us where we were from and extremely kind. The gentleman was originally from Ireland so he spoke perfect English as well as fluent French of course. It is a beautiful restaurant with many tables and very crowded outside for the location very close to the Eiffel Tower. The hot chocolate was exquisite. You can tell the difference of a homemade dark hot chocolate and the homemade cream was simply delicious. It's hard to say anything other than it was amazing and I would definitely come back. If you come to Paris definitely go.

Incredible spot near the Eiffel Tower (and the best hot chocolate ever) Carette near the Eiffel Tower was a standout. Sitting so close to one of Paris' most iconic landmarks already feels special, but the hot chocolate, honestly the best in the world. Rich, smooth, and unforgettable. The pastries and food were excellent, and being just a short walk from the tower makes it the perfect stop before or after exploring (or burning off a few calories). The only downside: the experience felt a bit rushed, but that's Paris during peak hours. Still absolutely worth it for the quality and the location. Would definitely return.

I was in LOVE with their hot chocolate here. They give you a giant mound of whipped cream for you to use with your hot chocolate. Apparently, the thing to do here is also to dip croissants in to the chocolate. I thought it may be a little weird but I was pleasantly surprised how well they paired. Anyways, this location was pretty big and they were pretty crowded by the time we left. We came at just the right time before there was a line forming outside . They also have a nice selection of cute pastries so if you have the time and are in the mood for sweets this is a nice spot to hit.

My daughter very much wanted to eat at Carette during our Paris trip and we managed to squeeze it in on our last day! The first time we tried to go, the line was around the block. This was late afternoon. We decided to try to come first thing in the morning to beat the crowds! It paid off! We got there around 9am and while the line was growing, it was much shorter. Here's a helpful tip.... Decide whether you want to eat outside or inside and stick to your decision when the host comes asking in the line. A group ahead of us kept changing their answer based on when they saw people leaving from either area, and you could tell the host was getting annoyed. Our group of 4 wanted to be outside, no question, and he ended up taking us first rather than the group ahead! We got a super cute outdoor table. Be aware, seating areas are small, typical of Paris. Our server was very nice and patient with our terrible French while we ordered! The hot chocolate was literally the best! It comes in a pot, and they give you so much! We all had two cups each, and still could not finish! And the whip cream just puts it over the top! Hands down the best hot chocolate I've had. The croissants were good too, a nice compliment to the hot chocolate. They have a very extensive menu, I would love to go back and try more if I'm in Paris again.

Waited in line for about 15 mins and got seated as they cleaned and cleared the outside seating. Ordered the hot chocolate with strawberries, cream ( cookie that comes with the order), citron tarte and a pistachio tarte. Loved the bites and they definitely refueled us up for the rest of our day walking around town. Price for strawberries at 19Euros is a ripoff!!! Worth an experience. Do stop by!!

For the popular hot choco, yes! It's actually good too share, it'll be too sweet for one person (and I have super sweet tooth!). All others, including crepe and macarons are so-so. Well, crepes taste almost the same everywhere. LOL. Nice little spot that's a walking distance from Trocadero and a train station. Line was long at 10:30am even on a rainy day, so be prepared. Some locals would push you off the lane. Neighboring patisseries or cafes won't let you sit nor stand within "their area", weather doesn't matter. Of all food places we've tried, they're the only ones who asked for a tip. I'd say a little expensive and maybe over-rated but a good one-try for tourists, that said, I may or may not come back depending on who I'll be with next time.

Everyone has seen the viral videos of where to go in Paris, and Carette is definitely one of those hot spots to try. My friends and I stopped by on Wednesday morning around 11 and as we walked up from the metro station, the line was wrapped around the street. Thankfully it was only a 20 minute wait as some guest wanted to sit outside. We were sat near the bakery area and it's like a packed mad house in there. We immediately ordered the hot chocolate which comes with a huge portion of whipped cream. I also ordered a quiche with goat cheese and tomatoes which comes with a side salad. For starters, the hot chocolate is a whole presentation. It is not only a pretty rich chocolate color, it's also delicious but very rich. The huge whipped cream dollop for the table was so pretty, of course we had to snap away pictures for our social media before we took our first sips. The hot chocolate was perfect for the cold rainy weather, but very decadent. Make sure you ask for a glass of tap water to wash down the richness. It will cost you about 12.5 euros but it will give you 3 or 4 cups per hot chocolate, which is more than enough. The quiche was really good as well. Very moist and flavorful. It was light enough for a brunch but also a great balance to the rich hot chocolate. The only thing I wished for was that the bottom crust would've been more cooked instead of it being soggy. We had a great visit here and a must try whenever you're in Paris, especially in the colder seasons.

TLDR; Cute vibe just a couple blocks from the Eiffel Tower. Great drinks and good food, slightly higher priced than what you may expect but worth it. This cafe offers the famous hot chocolate which is a must, not too rich but perfectly dense for a delicious cup. You can sweeten it up and provide a less dense texture with the whip that comes paired with it. The fruit is delicious but over priced in my opinion. The crepe was good and what you'd expect. Can't go wrong with the lemon tart or butter croissant as well. The service was straight forward but a touch slow, that seems to be the vibe throughout Paris.

Service was great, and fast! Don't be discouraged by the long line, it moves very quickly. Must try the hot chocolate. It's very thick and rich. the whipped cream on the side was the perfect match. All the Parisian nights and tea dinners. Whenever I'm in Paris, I want all the sweets and the treats. The French cuisine is amazing but the tea, the pastries! I can't say no to them. And where do you go for a late night version of those? Here! It's hard to find late night dining in Paris. Well a nice late night dining. It's either catch a sunset, catch the lights and Eiffel/ go up there late or go to dinner. Since I want them all, this is where I end up. Located right across from trocadero! I can come here after I get my fill of Eiffel and the lights. And continue watching the lights from the table. The outside tables have the cover charge and free cigarettes in your face. Tiny tables, so tightly packed! Table for one is pretty much on the lap of that table for 2 next to you! Sure, I don't mind date crashing random strangers. The €10 lattes, €10 cappuccinos, €12 cakes! And €8 tea pots later. You'll leave happy and covered in cigarette smells! I really like their cakes and tea sandwiches though. Minus the chaos and smells. But a small price to pay for the view and late night food that you want. read more

It was definitely not worth the hype. The chocolate Carette is good but nothing significantly different from what you've probably had before. I'd say it is not worth the wait (there is almost always a line to get in) nor the money (12 euro for a hot chocolate is irrational). But dont kid yourself. You'll still go for the same reason everyone else does. To say you've been to Carette in Paris. read more

We stayed at the Canopy near this restaurant. It quickly became our go to place. We were there in December & the hot chocolate was a welcome respite after a day of sightseeing. The service & food are excellent. As Americans we've heard that the French can be unwelcoming. Not here, we were comfortable & always felt welcome. It became a bit of a joke when the maitre d' recognized us after several visits. He would say "you've been here before" & we would answer "oui, every day". Truly, one of the highlights of our trip to Paris. read more

I tried really really hard but I can't give this place more than 2 stars. Two of us walked in, several waiters walked by us, no greeting. We wandered helplessly, walked towards the back where two people continued to have a lengthy conversation while I awkwardly stood there to get their attention. I finally just grabbed a table and finally got someone's attention who told me I can't sit there, I have to find someone to ask to be seated. I was about to leave when we saw a guy, and asked him if we can sit there. Our server was borderline rude. I ordered a chocolate crepe, raspberry tart and croissant. When I ordered be corrected all of my mispronunciations, making me feel very awkward. We got our food, delivered fast and yes, they were food but I've had better in Paris. When we asked for the check, the waiter asked us if we enjoyed our food. That was the friendliest anyone has been the whole time we had been there. read more

Here is what you need to know before coming to Carette: 1) The food: Carette is a dessert shop, first and foremost. They have savory food, but I would get that elsewhere. Come for the sweet stuff. And get a sweet drink, too: the hot chocolate is great, but so are the shakes. The macarons, surprisingly, might be the best in Paris. Cakey and soft, boldly flavored, filled generously, and delicately crispy on the outside, they look just like the gems they are. 2) The view: it's a traffic circle. You can't see much of the Eiffel Tower, and there are much more interesting beautiful streets to eat on in the city. If you want beautiful scenery, I'd recommend going to their location in Place des Vosges. But if you're just coming to this location because it's conveniently near the Eiffel Tower, then sure--come to Trocadero. 3) The service: Compared to other Parisian cafes, service is extremely good--especially considering how busy they are. If you're American, keep in mind that the norm here is for YOU to get your waiter's attention if you need something, so they will rarely check up on you. 4) Tourists: It is constantly swamped by tourists, but again: Carette maintains spectacular quality. If you want a less crowded experience, try one of their other locations, which are both in beautiful spots that top this one in my opinion. 5) Can you get this same experience elsewhere? The answer is no. Though every single element--location, format, pastries, service--can be found separately (in equally good quality) elsewhere in Paris, this is truly the only place that you will find this particular combination of these things. Think of Carette like a sitdown patisserie. Though similar to other places, that is unique. TL;DR: They have other locations that are severely underrated; go there unless you are just going to this one for convenience's sake. And yes--do go! The dessert is as good as everyone says it is. read more

This was a 10/10. Best hot chocolate in the world and that I've ever had! It is Tik tok famous for a reason! The atmosphere, service, and food was all perfect! We asked our waiter to choose his favorite pastry to split and it was one of best I've ever had! The eggs were buttery and delicious. I cannot say enough good things about our experience! We were visiting Paris and on our bucket list was to try some French pastries. My boyfriend and I arrived to Carette on a Wednesday at about 10am. There wasn't wait so we were seated automatically. Additionally, this spot is directly next to the metro stop, making it a very easy find. On top of that- it is a QUICK walk to the Eiffel Tower. when we arrived the waiters all spoke English to us with no problem which was relieving. Our waiters were incredibly friendly. I ordered a croissant, the carette hot chocolate with the cream, an onion soup, and a bacon quiche. At first glance the croissant looked hard, but as you take a bite, it is incredibly soft and perfect. The hot chocolate with cream absolutely lives up to the expectations. It was so rich and creamy. They leave the hot chocolate pot with you at the table allowing you to refill your drink on your own. The onion soup was okay, I personally wouldn't order that one again. But as for the quiche... wow. It was the perfect consistency and was absolutely delicious - the portion was good to share if you want to try a bit of everything. My boyfriend ordered a chocolate eclair the cappuccino and a ham and cheese sandwich. The chocolate eclair is a must try, very fresh and light and creamy so yummy. The cappuccino was great too. As for the sandwich - it was a bit dry for our liking - but you know us Americans wanting all our food drenched in Mayo haha. I would definitely return, it was a very relaxing and fun spot - especially if you're a tourist. There are many tourists at this spot making it very comforting in a way! read more

Our group of 4 people took the Eurostar from London to Paris for the day and the train was massively delayed due to snow. So delayed that we ended up only having 2 hours to spend in Paris, leaving us just enough time to high tail it to lunch, see the Eiffel Tower, order at Carette, and then speed back to the train station. We were worried it was a wasted trip, but I would do it all over again just to eat sweeties from Carette. It's only a few blocks walk from the Eiffel Tower and it's located right above a train stop. The line to order was long but efficient and we were paid up in about 15 minutes. I scarfed a croissant down on a bench outside while waiting for my friends and it was still warm and flaky and messy and the best croissant I've ever eaten. No wonder the neighborhood pigeons are so fat! They also have a sit-down cafe with sandwiches and coffee and we wished we had eaten there for lunch instead of the subpar touristy place we ended up at. My husband and I ordered a sampler of 18 miniature sweets along with a few macarons and two croissants and they were all gone before we even got back to London. They were the best sweets I've ever had. It makes me want to book a flight to Paris just to place another order! read more

Right next to the Eiffel Tower, this restaurant is BUSY. We came around noon, so a lunch rush. We didn't have to wait very long for a table, but the restaurant is way too packed during the pandemic. Tables literally on top of each other and folks shoulder-to-shoulder close. The food is good for breakfast and lunch, a bit overpriced (again, it's right next to the Eiffel Tower). Pastry bar is also very cute. Service was... meh. Again, the number of tables and humans inside. I loved my chai and think we would've had a better experience if it wasn't so uncomfortably crowded. The restaurant calmed down a little as we were leaving, around 2pm. read more

I came here with a friend because she saw the Hot Chocolate on TikTok and we were not the only ones. You definitely will be surrounded by influencers and Instagrammers taking their photos over and over again. I can say the hot chocolate did not disappoint, it was thick, creamy and so good. Just know that you are also paying the price for being so close to the Eiffel Tower. Lovely cafe in Paris, steps from the Eiffel with the most amazing macarons that blow Pierre Herme and Lauduree out of the water!!!! The macaron cookie actually has a crunch and the chocolate hazelnut is my favorite flavor, so unique! We had some finger sandwiches and those were so cute and tasty, service was great, everyone seemed to be ordering the club sandwich...we also ordered the Mont Blanc and the chocolate hazelnut mousse cake and everything was wonderful! My wife and I came her after having photos taken in front of the Eiffel Tower and it was one of our favorite spots. The pastries were some of the best we had in Paris. The pain au chocolat was divine and the crepes hit the spot. The cappuccino is a must here. Definitely would recommend this place for a nice cafe and pastry. read more

The absolute best macarons in Paris. We tried macarons at Bostani, Sadaharu Aoki, Pierre Herme, and Jean-Paul Hevin and Carette is by far the best. Priced at 2.10 euros per macaron for take out, the price is normal compared to the other high end macaron makers. The macarons were surprisingly pretty big and took a couple bites per macaron. I didn't want it to end. The flavors were so fragrant and strong. The texture was soft yet chewy. We didn't intend on eating all 5 we ordered in one sitting, but... it is what it is! I came here solely to try their Kouign Amann but I was thoroughly disappointed. I was hoping to try a very Parisian KA because I've only had the ones from Dominique Ansel in NYC, but I prefer the NYC ones. Maybe I'm just uncultured, but I had expected KAs to be circular in shape and flakey all around, but the ones served here was square and had a weird glaze on top. It was too hard and sticky to chew so I just ate the body. The body was good, but not what I was looking for. read more

We arrived late Friday night, about 30 minutes before closing time, so they were reluctant to seat us. But we were ready to order and made it work just for some dessert. Crepe was fairly good, ice cream was bland but the chocolate was excellent. Eclair was filled with chocolate mouse and was excellent. Mille-fueille was very good as well. The street atmosphere on Friday night was fun. Not really a great view of the Eiffel Tower from this place, but nearby there's a great viewing spot. I would return if I were in the area. read more

by far the best hot chocolate and desserts ive had. their scrambled egg club was amazing aswell. ive been here twice in 1 day its so good. the only thing is it a little expensive but if you want good food this is a place to go. busy on the weekends but if you come later into the week you wont have to wait in line. their service is incredibly fast aswell. read more

Such a disappointing dinner! The grilled cheese was not cooked enough, it was white, the cheese not fully melted. The salad couldn't be less basic with pre made vinaigrette. Mushroom omelette was tasteless. Wine tasted like vinegar Waiters were nice and accommodating No more pastries for desert. read more

Ambiance is wonderful. Has the traditional French bistro with outdoor seating as people watch the Parisians drive by. We ordered the desserts here. I have to tell you, after the first bite into the macaroon you will fall in love!! The softness of it, along with the joy of having the your taste buds experience French pastry to the highest level is so worth it. This bite size treat will bring so much joy, so fun! We had ordered other items too, each dessert had equally high quality. Even the milk tasted good, funny to write but it completes the meal. Well done, Carette! Well done. read more

After walking around the beautiful Place du Trocadero, we enjoyed a beautiful brunch at Carette--an elegant Parisian café. Make sure to order the hot chocolate, onion soup, pastries, club sandwich, and their scrambled eggs... they were so fluffy and delicious. We ordered way too much food, but we were really excited to enjoy our first brunch in Paris. We had plenty to share and bring back to our Airbnb. For Paris Cafes, this is my favourite ! Carette to me is the utopia of what a Parisian Cafe should be. I've been here twice and both times I thought, will this be good ? No, it's great ! Both times I've been here it's been cold outside and so I've had to be seat inside. It's crowded, loud, tables are squished together. Everywhere is the chatter of people, dishes, and espresso machines whirring away. And that is the perfect atmosphere for what a cafe should be. The coffee is excellent, the servers albeit are busy, they are always pleasant, and very helpful (for this non-French speaking guy). The French Onion Soup... well let's just say that I think it's the standard by which all others are measured by. Overall, this is my favourite Cafe in Paris. Coffee is delish and the servers are excellent. If you are looking for that perfect Parisian Cafe experience, Carette is your place. Not to mention, the best viewing of Eiffel is only a few steps away. Hard to go wrong there. read more

I highly recommend their hot chocolate (Chocolat Carette). If you like dark chocolate like me, it's a 15/10. I didn't really like their finger sandwiches specifically the Saumon Fumé. The Salade Oeuf was alright. The French Onion Soup was also bomb. read more

Probably the most popular French Café near the Eiffel Tower, in Place du Trocadéro. Here is a list of things to eat/drink. 1. Hot Chocolate: probably the best compromise between Angelina (super thick) and Nesquik. Absolutely insane ! Better to drink early in the morning to energize you throughout the day. 2. Macarons. My absolute favorites and the reason is that they are very creamy (the French would call them "Moeulleux"). They also have them in a big size, but only in Chocolate, Vanilla and Caramel flavors. Try the rose, pistachio and raspberry flavors, you'll be blown away. 3. The Club Sandwich. I've tried club sandwiches in many many places around the globe, but nothing compares to this one. My favorite, the chicken bacon ! 4. Almond croissants. Guys, there are croissants and then there are French croissants. Then, there are chocolate croissants and then there are almond croissants. You have to taste them. Of course, at breakfast ! 5. All kind of desserts. Worth mentioning that it is a popular place, so don't expect the staff to be very fast. Just be like Parisians, sit down, enjoy your stay, if you are outside do a bit of people watching. It's fun ! read more

Was on a tour bus and as we rounded Trocadero, our guide said "See Carette over there? Those are the best macarons in Paris. People say Laudree, but no, they're at Carette." So what did I do? I got off the bus and went into Carette to try a few mini macarons. THEY ARE THE BEST MACARONS IN PAIRS! SHE WASN'T LYING! In that moment I became a macaron convert and Carette proclaimer. Here's the thing: in America, our macarons are really pathetic. They're wispy little dry things with mushy fillings. I never liked them. Why waste dessert on something filled with air? But these macarons are truly spectacular. The macaron itself was spongy and substantive, and the filling was truly out of this world. I honestly think the salted caramel one was the best bite of food I had in my entire 4 days in Paris. I went back the next day to get more. I texted my friend who was coming to Paris a week after me "If you eat one thing here, it's Carette macarons." Have I made my point?! Oh - one last thing. I went to Laudree after and got precisely one mini macaron (to compare). It was garbage. read more

4/5 recommend for good tea and chic ambiance. It felt like a trendy location for locals, tourists, and anyone willing to spend a few bucks. Let me be clear - I really wanted to dislike this place because things were a bit hectic when we sat down and we were crowded and rushed to order a few times. What the staff lacked in warmth for two American tourists they made up for in efficiency and responsiveness. Their individual food prices are a little astronomical for my taste, but their meal offerings are a much better value. The hot chocolate was great but RICH. Very much like a chocolatey syrup. Earl grey tea on the other hand was probably the best I've ever had. With any drink order they bring a small chocolate brownie/cookie that's so dry it makes you want to drink your boiling cup of tea. Of all the things we ate I'd most wholeheartedly recommend the ham and cheese snack sandwich. It's not expensive and the baguette was perfect. If you are fine telling the staff to relax so you can read the multi-page multi-language menu, it's a good spot to grab tea and a snack. But certainly not a great value for the price of their meals. read more

Found this early in the morning before all the rush of Parisians. Although a bit pricey, the food and service were wonderful. The scrambled Eggs were so much better than what I've had in the USA and the pastries and coffee were delicious as well. As we ate this place started to fill up. Later in the afternoon, it was completely packed. After breakfast we headed for a bike tour and this was a great start to the day. read more

I was a little wary whether this restaurant would live up to the hype and let me tell you it does! We got there an hour before they opened and were the first ones there. The line starts to form about 30 mins before opening. I got the Carette brunch, which came with the signature croissant and hot chocolate with cream, your choice of juice, toast with butter and jam of choice, and scrambled eggs of choice. The hot chocolate was definitely the star of the show! It's very rich but not too heavy and the whipped cream helped cut the sweetness. The croissant was good as well. I also enjoyed the strawberry jam as well as the orange juice. The mushroom eggs were good but nothing crazy in my opinion (I'm not a huge egg person so I may be biased). Finally we also got a side of French onion soup, which had a certain depth to it I never had in any other but was very delicious! I would recommend getting the carette brunch as it came with a variety of food and was reasonably priced. The service wasn't the best, our server ended up taking a 30min break after the place opened and never brought us our extra water, but the gentleman that helped up pay was very nice and efficient. I can't guarantee quality service, but the food lives up to the hype! I recommend getting there early to beat the crowds for a Parisian breakfast you will never forget !! read more

Stopped by Carette Café and it completely lived up to the hype! Their famous hot chocolate topped with a mountain of fresh whipped cream is a must-try -- rich, thick, and absolutely heavenly. It's easily one of the best hot chocolates I've ever had in Paris. I also ordered their Roasted Sea Bass, which was cooked to perfection -- tender, flavorful, and beautifully plated. The seasoning was subtle and elegant, just what you'd expect from a classic Parisian café. The atmosphere is charming and elegant, with a great view and friendly service even when the place gets busy. Perfect spot for a relaxed lunch or an afternoon treat. Waited for about 20 minutes for a table, which didn't seem long as what it usually is. Hot chocolate was very good, but the service was poor. It is way too busy to have good service. There was little attention paid to detail. Ordered a coffee as well, which came out cold, when asked if it could be refunded, we were denied. High prices due to location and reputation. Also you will have to order two hot chocolates if you want to share, a single is 12 euros even thou it could serve two. read more

I enjoyed the hot chocolate, fruit cake, and mimosa at Carette. The hot chocolate was rich and velvety, almost like drinking a liquid dessert. The fruit cake was moist, flavorful, and filled with real fruit. The mimosa added a light, bubbly touch, perfectly complementing the sweetness of the hot chocolate and the fruitiness of the cake.
