Came in for a bite to eat on a Monday. Greeted by a gal at the register. She was super kind and attentive- a ray of sunshine! There are only a couple of tables inside, but more tables outside. Bring a jacket, as it can get breezy. Food was good and service was fast. Cute place! We did not have any cell service in this canyon. As a Bishop resident I hate to give a local business a bad review, especially since their pizza night is so good, but the Cardinal Cafe lunch was just very disappointing. My wife and I ordered the Gold Digger fries to share (they were out of milkshakes which we were hoping to try). We were expecting a sizable portion based on the pictures on the website (see pics) and the $15 price tag, but we received a very small portion, similar in size to an order from In N Out which costs less than $2. They tasted good, but for $15 this was an unacceptably small amount of food. We will be back for more pizza nights and maybe breakfast but will skip lunch. I recommend Bishop Creek Lodge for more filling and fairly priced food just a few miles away on South Lake Road. read more

Very unfriendly staff member. My husband and I drove all the way up here from Tom's Place to take our daughter here for breakfast, we were so looking forward to it. Online and in the restaurant it says breakfast ends at 11:30, we got there before. When I asked about breakfast the woman taking orders at the counter very rudely told me three times that they switched over to lunch. No sorry, no explanation as to why, no trying to work with us. We went there specifically for breakfast so hear this was a little shocking. We turned around and had to make the journey back to bishop to find somewhere else. It takes a lot for me to leave a negative review after being in the service industry for many years, but this woman was very rude and if they want to close breakfast down early - that's fine but at least be a kind human. Two stars because it is a cute outdoor place but hopefully they can have a conversation with the woman in the front to be a friendly human if you want business. read more

Went to lunch here today. Sat outside as it was a beautiful day. Dog friendly so we took our boxer. We both had the cardinal burger with cheese. Cooked to perfection medium rare as ordered. Great I would say 1/2 lb. Burger with great flavor. We got everything on them and had a side order of fries. Much better than burger barn in Bishop. Plus a beautiful setting. read more

This was our first visit to the Cardinal Cafe and wow, it's delicious! We got hamburgers and a grilled cheese. Our food was served quickly and was very fresh. The hamburger was on a tasty bun with all the toppings and a really delicious sauce. The view is also gorgeous from the cafe. We will definitely be back. Definitely recommend! read more

It's great that there's a place like this up in Bishop Creek Canyon. After photographing the fall colors in the early morning, this is the perfect place for a hot breakfast. Menu is limited but everything tastes great. Bacon and potatoes are especially good and generous servings sizes, too. Coffee is just mediocre and prices are a little high, but that's to be expected for such a remote location. Free wifi so you can get your internet fix while out of cell range. read more

Yum and such a fun atmosphere! We went on Saturday night for pizza and a night outside in the fall leaves. We loved stopping by and sitting outside on the picnic tables. The pizza was fresh and delicious. The tables were full and all were happy to be eating outside. We went on the last weekend before closing for the season, and it couldn't have been better! The fall leaves were peaking- golden aspens in full force! We took the recommendation to go for a bite to eat from another hiker we met on the trail and we are so glad we did! If it were not for those awesome fries covered in melted cheese and real bacon, at $9.50 per basket, I would have given it a 2. Hamburger patty was just not special enough to warrant $7.50 and was only about 1/8 inch thick. Tasted like a freezer. Sauce was great! Just very unimpressed and disappointed. The pizza night at Cardinal Village Cafe is the best dinner around. You sit next to a flowing stream and enjoy some of the most amazing pizza you will ever eat in your life. It is all you can eat and every pizza is different. If you don't like whats out, just wait 3 minutes for another to come out of the wood fired oven. read more

This is a quaint little restaurant in the middle of one of my favorite spots of the Eastern Sierras. The food here has a special homemade taste to it and I loved the atmosphere of the restaurant. Great little family run place attached to the cardinal village resort. The menu is limited, but what they offer is really great! Home cooked BBQ ribs, tori tip, chicken, etc. The owners work the kitchen and the waitress doubles as the guide for the horse rides. A really terrific place! read more
