Quick back story, my wife grew up literally 2 blocks from Carbones. We come up and couple times a year to visit her family and we always hit up Carbones several times while here in Buffalo. So, myself being a Philly boy you still cant beat our steaks BUT, but, Carbones is a very close second. I always get a Cheese Steak with fried onions and hot peppers, they also do it with mayo & oil which surprisingly is very good. Meat to bread ratio is good with i nice light crunch too the roll. They have never gotten my order out on time, and the front counter somehow manages to provide even slower service than the kitchen. The food is great, but picking it up and talking to the wired employee at the counter feels like a form of psychological torture . Customer service is terrible at this establishment. Went in Sunday afternoon at around 2:30 pm August 9th and was greeted with hostility and attitude because I didn't want traditional sauce. I prefer the sweet sauce. The woman cussed at me and then as I was leaving said she hopes I have the f#$%ing day i deserve. Totally unfounded. I was as pleasant as pie. I'd probably not waste your time eating here as their 3.3 star review would suggest. There's so many better options in the 716. This place feels a little divey, but for a neighborhood pizzeria the food is always delicious and fresh. Then portions are huge, the chicken wings aren't either too big or too small, and they sell pizza by the slice if youre looking for a quick lunch. Prices are about the same as you'd expect from any other pizzeria in the area. Service is alright, but normally im there to pick up food and leave, so ive never had a bad experience. They do get pretty busy, so I would definitely recommend ordering before going to the restaurant. I usually order from a select few pizza places and I decided on a suggestion to try Carbone's. As I perused the online menu, there's an option to order online. IMO, so many businesses should follow suit. I was able to select every option to customize my pizza and wings. You get an approximate time as to when your order will be ready-I like this. Once I arrived, my pie was being taken out of the oven . I was informed my the cashier, Sky that we were only waiting for y wings to be sauced. It was at this moment that I realized that I order the wrong sauce. They were kind enough to make the correction and seemed more than happy to change them even though it was my error. I liked the way they engaged with their customers...some seemed like regulars. This shows me that they value their people. The true test, THE TASTE! I did take out from this business while in Buffalo, NY. The service was good even though they were busy for a weekday evening. The pizza and wings in Buffalo are so very good. Love how they do pepperoni in this area. Usually the wings are either crispy and light sauce or very saucy. I love how this place gives you options on how you want your pizza cooked(normal or well done) and what type of sauce you want and how you want it cut(slice or in squares). Also, how crispy and saucy you want your wings. I loved the fact that you get to custom select your items to that level. Really enjoyed this cozy local joint. Nice people and terrific pizza. My slices were ready quickly. I tried both the normal peperoni and the sweet peperoni. Both were dynamite with really good crust, too. Will come back here for sure next time I'm in town. So we ordered a sheet pizza , a large pizza and 50 wings through their website for delivery. Never got our wings and was told by a manager take it up with the delivery service they use and basically oh well. Completely ridiculous on the amount of money we just spent for shitty pizza and no wings . They said the delivery service they use stole them so call them . This review is not a reflection of the food, but the chronic stupidity of the kitchen staff. I have ordered multiple times and requested NY Style, thin crust, and either the cook can't read, or they do not know how to create a thin crust pizza. Why do they offer flats only, or extra crispy, as options IF they are going to ignore those instructions???? Ordering through GrubHub or Uber Eats, etc. means you can't get your refund back or new food, because you are most likely outside their delivery range and it is impossible to speak to the owner, who only comes in and out to collect money. The day to day is governed by apathetic managers, who could care less. It is time to STOP patronizing Carbones! read more

Carbones is easily in my top 8 for best Pizza in WNY. They never hold back on their toppings! Just the right amount of not -too-sweet sauce and a thick topping of cheeeeeeessseeee. So yum! Their wings are about average. Actually the last time we got them, they were a little on the smaller side but that doesn't seem to be the norm. Try out their cajun dry rub, it'll clear your nostrils! My wife and I wanted to try some true Buffalo Pizza so we narrowed down the selection. And chose Carbone's. It's an old school neighbourhood pizza shop. They do the cupped peppperoni. So we got some wings and a large pizza. It's a greasier pizza than you get in Toronto, but I think it's the cheese (which is much better imo). Probably full fat cheese. And the amount of prepperoni is also contributing to the grease content. We told the staff we had come to try the good stuff. They were very friendly and helpful. And asked if we wanted Regular sauce or sweet sauce? We didn't know and I said how about just the regular. The wings were huge, hot and crunchy. On the well done side. My fav! I've been known to polish off a large pizza fairly frequently, but not this fat bastard. A few wings and 2 slices and I was plugged! On the way out the front counter called to us. Matter of fact, how many of you are old enough to remember when they were $.10 cent? Well nowadays, with wings being $1 a piece now. The family special is so much worth the price. Buffalo has some of the best pizza in the world and the pizza right here at Carbone's is some of the very best you will ever put in your mouth. When the pie comes fresh out of the oven and it's hot and gooey and burning your mouth there is really no comparison. This is the highest praise I can give Buffalo Pizza: It's as good as some of the ones down in South Buffalo. Like Imperial, Bella, Franco's, but with thinner crust and maybe a little more gooey sloppy sauce (which isn't a bad thing). You must try a hot fresh slice from Carbone's. Here's my original review: What is now known as the CaRBone family was famous in Chicago back in the 30s. They were mobsters. The head of the family, Al, faked his own death and snuck away to Buffalo and opened this place. He inconspicuously changed the "p" in his name to "rb" and gave everyone the impression that the food he served was full of carbs. It is. What to get: Slices, Garlic Breadsticks. I used to go to the location in Lovejoy regularly, I haven't been in ages. I remember it being one of the best in Buffalo. Slices were insanely good so I gave it a 5. However when I went recently the quality had slipped slightly though it was still good. However the quality at this location on South Park is off the charts excellent. I finally tried this location and while it wasn't my fave pizza in town, it was very very very good, and easily in the top 20... possibly even the top 10 slices in town, which is a very hard list to get onto. The slices are juicy, wet, and enormously huge (you know, huge, like my thingy or something), and what's more, the girl (who wasn't very friendly, but was cute), gave me a slice, but couldn't detach it from another slice so since they were about to close, she gave me both of them for the very low price of 1 (it's right around $2 and it's enormous). Since that occasion, the service rating has gone through the roof. In fact this is probably the friendliest service I've had at any pizza place. The girl with red hair (not the one that served me the first time) is so insanely friendly, always gives me extra stuff because it's near closing, and totally rocks my pizza world. I buy one slice, she gives me two or three. Free breadsticks. Loves my cat Starlight. She's just fantastic. I've become a regular because of her and her great service, but also because of the excellent, typical Buffalo slices and the really good crust they're on. Slices are usually piping hot too, like burn-your-mouth hot without even being heated, which was very impressive. And a relief too because that's how I like them, but I wasn't going to ask her to She's already too nice to me for me to ask for extra stuff... lol. Definitely stop in and try a slice here and see how it compares to your fave places. They're open late, maybe 10 or even 11 or 12... not sure but yes, really awesome place. Buffalo actually has the best Pizza in the world - it's not quite like New York's, and not quite like Chicago's, it's an entity unto itself and it's the best I've ever had. Other than Carbone's, the best are Imperial (South Buff), Francos (Northtowns), Mattina's (North East), Bella (South), and some of the ones in Niagara Fallas like Pizza Oven and Mr. Ventry's. I ordered a small (13", six slice) Buffalo Chicken Finger Pizza [medium-sauce on the chicken fingers and blue cheese base sauce] and had to update my review and say how much I loved it! This was a pretty much perfect chicken finger pizza, in my opinion. A Buffalo-style dough that was cooked perfectly, gold and brown with the right amount of chew and it didn't feel "limp" like some places in Buffalo do. The crust was the right balance of chewiness and crunch. This pie was absolutely LOADED with chicken finger pieces, all cooked properly, and with that nice medium-sauce heat and flavor. The blue cheese base was distributed perfectly and I could taste it with each bite I took. The mozzarella cheese on top blanketed everything nicely - upon glancing at the pie, you'd think there was little to no chicken fingers but you'd be soo wrong - and tasted wonderful! :) The small size was perfect for my appetite, but note that with every chicken finger pizza I've ever had, it can be a little salty so be sure to have a cold beer, errr a refreshing beverage, nearby by to wash it down and keep yourself hydrated. Carbone's Pizza and Subs in South Buffalo is a fantastic pizza shop. Their toppings and quality has been phenomenal each time I've gone and their prices are incredibly reasonable.
