Carbonara - Prosciutto - Italian Near Me - Arlington, Virginia

Staff were great and they were able to seat us without a reservation. The food was ok. We enjoyed the appetizers more than the entrees. The star of the show, the carbonara, was sad to say, disappointing. It was pretty salty. Maybe too much gaunciale? read more

Mediocre and extremely overpriced. This place is super popular for its showy presentations and modern takes on Italian food. Their wine selection was limited and consisted of mostly bottle only options. Cocktails were good but pricey. Appetizer needed salt and pepper. I ordered the cheesecake dessert to go and didn't realize until I got home that they gave me a completely different dessert. I left unimpressed... read more

Margarita is amazing, great experience as always. Only complaint is that I can't find the Carbonara X account. Don't have the old social media accounts anymore so I can't post my food and tag them! read more

Carbonara - Dinner - Italian Near Me - Arlington, Virginia

This place is overrated and overpriced. We stopped in for dinner on a weekday night. Our server was hard to understand, did nothing to properly explain the menu, and sold us on some fried chicken parm egg rolls, which now that I write it out sounds like the worst idea for a restaurant that is positioning itself as above the fray. They were fine, but no better than something you might find in a sports bar. We got the vaunted pasta carbonara, which they cheesify in a big wheel of cheese next to the table. That was cool to watch, but it had basically no flavor except for the giant bits of pancetta. The other dishes we got were similarly pedestrian. We will not be back. Disappointing. read more

Excellent atmosphere, friendly staff from beginning to end. Very accommodating of children. We had the arancini and mozzarella for appetizers, and sampled a variety of pastas (Carbonara, chicken parmesan, king of the sea, paparadelle amalfi, the kiddos had side pastas), and they were ALL excellent. Huge portions and wonderful quality. The service was expedient. Highly recommend! read more

Wow, what a gem! So different than normal places here, more like NYC or Boston. Food was amazing and great singer doing Frank and Tony etc. Shrimp, clams, carpaccio and hot peppers were all fantastic. Chef Mike came to check on everyone, really classy establishment. We can't wait to go back. read more

This place is hopping. They have a good number of staples on the menu but if you've never been, go for the chicken parm. They make it in a unique way. I've had lots of dishes and they are all good. Only feedback I'd give is the food isn't always coming out hot enough so they can work on that. Very cute decor inside and out. The outside is great in the warm months. read more

We have been wanting to try Carbonara since they opened. The first evening reservation I could get was in June but luckily checked yesterday and was able to get in the same day! Should have waited.... This place is loud! Not sure the singer (who was great by the way) really needed a speaker in such a small place. The server apologized that it was so loud. On to the worst part, the food. We ordered the Crab stuffed mushrooms which were good. I ordered the Vodka Chicken Parm the chicken was completely overcooked. My wife asked the waiter if the Tortelloni DiMichael had a lot of cream or not (since it said "a touch of cream") he said it did, so she ordered the Cavatelli with the white wine and butter sauce (did not mention cream) instead. When it arrived to the table it was an Alfredo sauce. We returned the dish for the Bolognese. The server shared that they were printing new menus and that they needed to change the description for the Cavitelli. Price wise, Carbonara is inline with similar places in the DMV area but the food did not match the price point. Maybe it was the volume in the restaurant that was causing miscommunication, regardless it was not a good experience. We might try again after a few months to see if they are able to iron out some if their issues. read more

The food was amazing, but the service was just okay and slow for a Tuesday night. Looking forward to coming back for the food.

Sat outside on A Sunday for lunch. Great service- staff was courteous and we didn't wait for a thing from start to finish. Food was amazing!! Best Italian I've had since moving from NJ many years ago. Will be back. Must try: seared octopus & the chicken Parm! read more

LOVE this place, especially for lunch. Nice variety, innovative dishes done perfectly, AND outdoor tables in the sun. Very reasonable prices at lunch (even for the wine). read more

Such a lovely dining experience!!! I cannot believe I waited so long to come here!! We sat at the bar and Steph (the bartender) took the BEST care of us!!! 5 stars for food and service!!! We will definitely be back and sit at the bar! read more

Food was good, service was nice and the place was quite lovely. We got the tortelloni a la Michael and the carbonara, both great!

Hottest new restaurant in Ballston -- for good reason. The food was great, we got the lobster ravioli and gnocchi. Definitely would recommend the lobster ravioli. No issues w the service. Decor was kind of weird -- the menu and the Al Capone picture in the front made me expect white table cloths and whatnot, but the decor came across as tacky and non coordinated. I don't really give an f about decor generally so this didn't hinder my enjoyment of the food, just thought it was interesting. Ballston needed a classic Italian restaurant and we got it. We will be back. read more

This place is such a lovely addition to the neighborhood. Ambiance was a 10/10. We sat outside under a heat lamp and enjoyed not only nice weather but a Frank Sinatra soundtrack as well. We're married but agreed this is likely to become THE date spot for singles in the area. Such a great vibe. Definitely romantic. Service was good as was the food! I'm only giving four stars as the pasta in my spicy rigatoni was a bit hard and not quite al dente. Practice makes perfect and I'm sure with time this place will be flawless. We will definitely be back! read more

I highly recommend this place after living in New York for 30 years coming from a small Italian neighborhood a little Italy Manhattan. I must say it's very difficult to find Italian food this place meets all the requirements the atmosphere was the service great and the chef even came out from the back to greet me and the food was excellent read more

Quick service and nice atmosphere. A small restaurant but decent ambiance. Went with family for a birthday dinner. I ordered the spicy rigatoni alla vodka. Sauce is good but the chicken lacks flavor. You can tell it's just cooked chicken in the pasta dish with hopes that the sauce will make up for its lack of seasoning on the chicken. Also, very few pieces of chicken were in the dish. More pasta than anything. The dishes I saw others with looked really good but not really sure. Not a bad option but I wouldn't rush back. read more

Great food! Portions for days. I haven't had a meal here I haven't liked. Sharron is amazing!

Friendly staff and delicious food. Manager came to check on every table with genuine interest not just an obligated drop by. Our server (Margarita) was prompt and accurate. Chicken parm was the best dish I tried. read more

AMAZING food, but please get some fans!! The doors and windows are open in the middle of summer so the inside is so stuffy. Our group was constantly wiping sweat away and struggling to eat our hot meals while also being in a stuffy, warm dining room. There was zero air flow in there. Will be back either way though, the food was absolutely amazing. I highly recommended the meatballs! read more

Sharron is the best! Thank you so much! Love the carbonara and I really appreciate that there are no nuts in house!

Sharron was amazing! So sweet, great service, and very attentive. The food was great, would definitely return.

The food was great and Sharron was awesome. The recommendations ans knowledge of the menu items was great.

We had some really great food at this location! The outside seating was perfect as well and they are dog friendly! The service was really great also! If you haven't tried it I would definitely recommend it! read more

Food- great. We got the chicken parmigiana, stuffed tortellini, mixed green salad. The only con was that the spinach was a bit salty. Our service was GREAT! Loved Margarita. read more

A true white cloth restaurant with an extensive Italian-American menu. Although the presentation is beautiful and the ingredients are excellent, on our Monday visit someone was heavy handed with the salt. The minestrone soup was overpowered by the salt and we had to send it back. I would prefer to taste the ingredients that were meticulously selected. The waiter was gratuitous and attentive and we were able to get a better balanced dish. read more

The food is mid I prefer mias Italian kitchen in Alexandria. Host were kind of standoff ish and not welcoming when we walked in. The service was okay we did sit at the bar so I didn't expect much. No one came to us we had to keep calling someone over until the actual bartender came to us. Prob like 5-8 mins. Was slightly busy. Ambiance was nice they had live music I rate that a 10/10 read more

If you haven't tried this place, you MUST. Tonight was my second time here and from beginning to end it was outstanding. The food is amazing, the service is equally top tier. We had the pleasure of having Moe as our server and he was kind, attentive, professional and never once made us feel rushed even though they get pretty busy on weekends. They also have live music on the weekends during dinner which was a really nice addition. We had the carbonara, the brisket stuffed tortellini, bacon wrapped shrimp and the wedding soup. I wasn't able to try any of the drinks due to being pregnant but they looked good. We will definitely be back again and again. read more

Maybe we went on an off night :/ We were excited to try this restaurant for our anniversary. I saw tons of reviews and videos on TikTok and we were excited for table side pasta! We love Italian and this was sadly a massive let down. First, our server was also a bartender. Our food took entirely too long to come out and he was working the bar and our table at the same time. He was nice when we saw him randomly.. but terrible service. The bread was ok. The olive tapenade and red sauce were under seasoned. The calamari was under cooked, room temp and poorly fried. We sent it back. Our Caesar salad was bland and lacked flavor. My husband's spaghetti and meatballs were room temp. He said the red sauce tasted like Chef Boyardee and lacked any flavor. However the meatballs were actually really good- but again, room temp. I got the table side carbonara. Please note, if you get this, depending on how many other people also get it, yours may be sitting underneath the rolling table as the chef goes table to table. Which is what happened to me. I was last after he went to about 3-4 other tables. It's cooked in the kitchen then rides around the restaurant in a skillet, table to table and then reheated on the cheese wheel when it's your turn. This is terrible. The show is nice but my carbonara was room temp and again, lacked any seasoning. Also both pastas were undercooked. No consistency. Also, the tables are quite small. The booths are for larger parties and there was only two of us. Then they sat a family of 4, with two small kids next to us. Maybe just us, but 8pm, Saturday night, at a nice restaurant, I'm not sitting small kids next to a couple that look like they're on a date. Overall, for $70 (the calamari was removed) we were disappointed and starving. Will not return. read more

Food was delicious! The atmosphere was fun and the service was A+. Sharron was very attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and made some great recommendations. The food portions are huge so come hungry. I had the spicy rigatoni and it was incredible! My husband had the shrimp scampi which he also very much enjoyed. Highly recommended this place! read more

Super great vibe. They sell cigars and you can smoke on the front porch. The carbonara in a cheese wheel was really good. Really nice waiters that will also light your cigar. And Drinks were REALLY good read more

Carbonara is such a good surprise! I didn't expect it to be as good as it was! They have indoor & outdoor seating. The inside seating is small, but intimate. The aesthetic was really nice. The only thing that was a little weird was that the open concept kitchen is right near the door- haven't seen that before. They have a good selection of wines & cigars. We were greeted with a bread basket of focaccia & french bread. They serve the bread with olive tapenade & marinara sauce. I haven't seen any places that serve the bread with sauce- I love that! I had the lavender spritz to drink and I loved it. We had the burrata & arancini for apps. They were both great. I had the pollo piccata for my entree. The portion size was great & I really enjoyed it. I usually prefer pasta, but the potatoes were good. I tasted the gnocchi & pasta my friends had and I could have easily eaten either of those! For dessert, we had the tiramisu. Our server, Sharron was amazing! She was just the right amount of attentive & personable. All in all, I would highly recommend Carbonara & I think it's a really nice contribution to Ballston! read more

Everything we've ordered here is good. The only complaint is the leftovers are very oily. Not sure if this is intentional, but this was the rigatoni a la vodka. The chicken parm was also oily but I didn't get to take a photo. read more
