Buffet was amazing. Generous amounts of popular Indian dishes. Lots delicious of curries, naan, rice, fruit and vegie salads. Owner/cook has been there forever was very attentive to all customers. Culminated with a wonderful Indian rice pudding and chai tea flavored with rose water. Best Indian buffet in town.

There are so many reasons to love this restaurant. The food is good. The atmosphere is cozy. The owner is a gem of a man. He is so friendly, kind, and caring. Having a conversation with him can go very deep and powerful in terms of how people should treat one another regardless of their differences. This is my second review because I want to elevate the restaurant and have more people patronize it. I try to take as many people to the restaurant as possible when on that side of the water. Tomorrow is Christmas, and it is also the owner's birthday. For years, on his birthday, he has generously prepared meals and served the homeless community. Here's what he's doing tomorrow: https://myedmondsnews.com/2023/12/edmonds-restaurant-owner-will-celebrate-his-birthday-distributing-meals-to-those-in-need-christmas-day/ Thank you, Shazhad, for all that you do. Everyone, if you haven't visited Caravan Kebab yet, I hope you visit at least once in the new year.

Best food in Edmonds! Many vegetarian entrees and lots to choose from for carnivores. I love the mushroom julienne with the garlic naan. Shazad makes wonderful & tasty dishes. It's a lovely restaurant, not in the bowl of Edmonds, but has a parking lot in the village. Try it! You will be surprised by the explosion of tastes in your mouth!

What a beautiful ambiance! Would never picture the inside from the looks of the outside! It's so beautiful The food was really good. I got the Shahi korma with chicken. We also ordered garlic naan but I missed taking a pic. So light and garlicky (yum)! The only thing I wouldn't recommend is the baklava. Was a little too dry for me. We also were gifted kheer for ordering 2 dishes.

We had a wonderful lunch! The beans in tomato sauce are fabulous. Don't miss them! 3 of us shared them as an appetizer. I had the lamb gyros sandwich and loved it. Another had the same but with chicken. Also enjoyed. The butter chicken was delicious, and served with a large bowl of beautiful rice. Only complaint was not enough chicken (maybe 5 small pieces). We three shared a baklava for dessert. We all had a bite or 2. Some of the best I can remember, moist and a great flavor.

It offers an extensive menu, and for what you pay, the portions are very generous! Our favorite dishes are the mango curry, lamb vindaloo, and the classics like butter chicken and tikka masala. We always order some form of appetizer. We have had the samosas as well as the hummus and tabouleh, and everything has been delectable! I always order their baba Ganoush. The smoky, roasted eggplant is savory and has great depth to the flavor profile. Our other favorite is the garlic naan. It is seasoned to perfection and roasted beautifully! Another thing I appreciate is they offer a spice level for your order. Spicy is a relative term, so I appreciate having a range to work with. 5 Rivers recently renovated their dining area, and it is very beautiful and clean. Service is always friendly, too. Overall we are very happy to have found such a gem nearby!

Thoroughly impressed with the Tandoori chicken and mint chutney; so far - my only intro to this newly discovered spot. I will definitely be back to try other dishes. next visit: I ordered an 8 oz mint chutney (different than than the chutney in small container) and have to say a little too spicy for me. Though the extreme spice level loving mom was rather attached to it. During the holiday break, I made a minor trek from Greenwood into the buffet setup; location is great since it's right off the freeway exit. Stepped inside to a colorful variety of options. Honed in on the chicken curry - I was surprised it wasn't heavy on salt & acidic tomatoes. Overall it's a perfect chicken curry - I've on the prowl for about 5 decades. The best curry ensemble i've encountered outside India. The gravy consistency is similar to homemade curry sauce...never too thick (smoothie style) Tandoori chicken showed up a little later in the buffet scene - though, the take out version is a little juicier. Raita is thoughtfully prepared with cucumbers and light spices. Surprised to see both naan and butura are included in the buffet. Butura bread goes well with the channa masala which has a nice subtle flavor. But, I feel it could showcase more interesting/pungent spices and garbanzo beans need to be cooked a little longer to make them softer/easier to digest. Restaurant setting: spacious/comfortable with booths right next to windows! Already planning the next visit for some more of this local curry goodness.

The currys were piping hot and delicious. I've struggled to find great butter masala in Seattle, and taste of India's hit the mark! Not pictured, but their naans are huge. My husband and I each ordered naan, and the amount of rice, curry, and naan was the perfect amount for a full serving of leftovers. We were pleasantly surprised by the complimentary samosa appetizers and chocolate torte dessert. Ultimately this place is fantastic and we look forward to coming back- would love to come on a summer evening and sit outside on their patio.

so, this place is pretty clearly, and almost objectively so, made exclusively for westerners…read more what i mean by that is that this place serves Indian food that will not attempt to challenge western palettes in any way - rather its goal is to have people walking out with a mildly positive attitude towards the food. if someone were to ask them how the food was, they will say that it's fine and say that indian food is an underrated cuisine. the first indication of this that caught my eye was on the menu, where it was listed that "all spice levels are American standard". The fact that this is on the menu at an *Indian restaurant* is pretty ridiculous, in my opinion. I'll get to the spice levels later The second indication was when the waiter brought out our naan, and said "Here's your naan bread". I almost laughed out loud at this point. Naan bread? Thank god we didn't order chai or he would've said "Here's your chai tea". when we actually got our food, it was as disappointing as I expected Despite the fact that I ordered the 'Hot' spice level (the second highest), this had utterly no spice at all. I know that I have a high spice tolerance, but you know it's not good when other people at my table who have a low tolerance cannot taste any spice whatsoever. I've had hotter dishes ordering the 'Hot' level at American restaurants! In addition to there not being any spice, there was pretty much no flavor at all to the curries. There was just no point to the gravy on both the Jaipuri "Masala" and the Vegetable Kofta, as it both cases it was quite bland and essentially tasted like nothing. The paneer and the kofta were ok - but nothing more than average. Again, the lack of any kind of flavor is just crazy. Our table also got the Biryani, which had decent vegetables but also suffered from a lack of flavor The roti and garlic naan that we got were really hard and difficult to break apart. not very good at all If you're Indian - do not come here - you'll get far better Indian food either a) at home or b) at another place If you're not Indian - I would highly recommend trying another place to actually get a taste of what Indian food is really like. This watered-down version simply isn't it. I would recommend Saffron Grill in Northgate for an example of Indian food done correctly on the positive side, one thing i appreciated about this menu is the customization available for different curries this is especially helpful when it relates to giving options to vegetarians, as it doesn't restrict people who are vegetarian to specific curry options having paneer, vegetables, and tofu options available for each curry is pretty good i also thought the spinach naan was pretty good. out of all the bread we ordered, it was the only naan that managed to be soft, and easy to pull apart the spinach inside tasted pretty good as well the complimentary samosas (although clearly reheated from frozen) and sweet at the end was a decent touch the portion sizes were also decent - the amount of rice that came with the curry was pretty significant

Driving to and from the Edmonds ferry terminal, I had noticed the exterior signage for Gyro Makers. I figured it was time to check it out since it had been open for over three months now (7/6/25). It is located in strip mall retail area with a shared parking lot, in between Bartell Drugs, the UPS Store and Ono Poké. There are a few two and four tops for onsite dining. I noticed they also do a fairly brisk takeout service. Welcoming folks at the ordering counter. There's a posted menu, as well as, a tri fold menu available to take with you. Nice selection of plate or wrap items, a la carte sides, salads, kids menu items, baklava, and chilled beverages too. There's even Turkish coffee and Arabic tea available. Since this was an all in one late breakfast-lunch-early dinner meal, we ordered the following: 1 gyro sandwich ($11.29), 1-12oz lentil soup ($6.49), 1 Arabic chicken shawarma ($12.49), and an order of Special Heroes Fries topped with lamb/beef, spices, and garlic sauce ($13.99). With tax and tip, it was under $57. First off the portion sizes are huge! Duly noted, fresh produce were used, which was greatly appreciated. Succulent and flavorful chicken and beef/lamb were generously used in the menu items. Lively spices and well prepared tzaziki and garlic sauces were evident. We left well fed and with ample leftovers to take home. Gyro Makers - a tasty find in Edmonds!
