I got a VanTrue dashcam installed "professionally" at the Bellevue Car Toys in late 2025. A few months later, my car's back door locks stopped working, and my side view mirrors stopped automatically folding in when I parked. I took my car to Lexus and they showed me how Car Toy's technician had connected the hardwiring to the wrong places, which had caused a fuse to blow, and fried the electric components in my cars locks + side view mirrors. STEER CLEAR. I took my car here because I assumed they would know better than myself on how to hardwire a dashcam. Had I known they would just wing it when installing it and fry my cars electronic locks/mirrors, I would have just taken the time to do it myself. DONT BRING YOUR CAR HERE read more

I had a breathalyzer installed there and they disconnected my horn. I asked them to fix it when they removed the breathalyzer but they didn't. They refuse to come fix. They want me to drop off my car take and uber then take an uber back to pick it up at my expense which is about 50-60. They also left rubber sticky stuff on my window. read more

I posted my review of my experience at the Southcenter location, feel free to check that out. After the flat-out criminal experience at Southcenter, the Bellevue team took care of me. As a result of what I ensured, they applied some generous discounts to some upgrades I elected to have done and also went through my car vigorously to ensure the integrity of the audio system was in line with components installed. I'll be blunt, I never heard a stereo sound so good. It was flawless, perfect and legendary, until it failed. They sold me an open box amplifier and it was spot on for a couple years, then in failed. I don't blame CarToys for the failure. Items do fail, but I think the bigger lesson is be cautions about open box items. Unfortunately, by the time the amp failed, no one I knew in Bellevue was gone and the new team in 2015, didn't appear at all interested in helping me out unless my wallet was open. I was fully prepared to pay for services, but I wasn't confident that they were listening to my concern. I'm giving this location a generous 3, because they started at 5 and slid down to 1, so I will meet them in the middle. read more

After spending several thousand dollars here over the last 3 years they have lost a customer over $76. I've had a subwoofer installed here in 2022, Navigation system in 2024, and have purchased several speakers that I installed myself. Yesterday I purchased some speakers for my 2005 Honda CRV, and installed them in my car. I had to drill some small holes in the metal ring around the edge of the speaker in order to mount them. After installing and testing, I found that one speaker had a defect and took it back to cartoys, the technician confirmed that the speaker was defective. They told me they were unable to replace or refund my as the speaker had the holes drilled in it, despite the speaker clearly being defective. They said they only thing they could do is sell me new speaker at cost for $76. I purposely go out of my way to go to car toys instead of ordering on Amazon to support businesses in my area, this will no longer be the case for Car Toys. TLDR - If you are going to install youself, dont bother shopping here. You will get the items cheaper online and better customer service. read more

While I was paying I could hear the manager absolutely screaming and yelling at an employee THRU THE WALLS AND OVER THEIR VERY LOUD CHRISTMAS MUSIC. It was absolutely INSANE how loud and angry this manager was. I will never ever go back to that location. I will go to the Lynnwood location even tho it is much farther for me. If you need to screaming and yell at your employees like that maybe find a different job. NO ONE should be spoken to like I heard. It was so unprofessional and seriously just beyond anything I have ever heard. They need to fire the manager at that store and make him take anger management classes. Absolutely insanity. read more

I want to share my disappointing experience at Car Toys Bellevue (13201 NE 20th St). I went there on June 28, 2025, to replace my car's factory head unit because the screen was broken. Before purchasing, I clearly told the store manager Greg that it was crucial to keep all original functions working, especially the side cameras and the USB power ports. Greg was very enthusiastic and confidently assured me that everything would work perfectly. However, after paying about $1,700 (including labor), I found out the AM/FM radio wasn't working due to missing parts, and the USB ports had no power. Greg promised they would order the parts and contact me within a week for installation. Two weeks passed, and I never received any call. When I followed up, an employee said they had no record of the parts or installation needed. I had to bring my car back for inspection. This time, they said I had to make an appointment for installation, which contradicted Greg's initial promise that no appointment was necessary. On July 19, I went for the appointment, but they first said the parts hadn't arrived yet, then suddenly said they had found them. The AM/FM function was restored, but I was told the USB ports couldn't be powered because of the car's limitations, which directly contradicted Greg's assurance. Throughout this experience, Greg failed to document my requests, made premature promises without proper checks, and lacked follow-up communication. I feel let down and question the professionalism of this store and its management. I hope Car Toys takes this feedback seriously and improves their service and integrity. read more

I had a terrible experience at the Car Toys in Bellevue. First I called to check and make sure they were open and available and then I drove over. When I walked into the front office, no one was there. The phone went unanswered. After about 15 minutes (when there were now three of us customers standing there being totally ignored), one gentleman took the initiative to walk into the back work area to see if anybody could provide some service to the front. Finally one mechanic made his way to the front and shared with us they were very understaffed and busy (another person followed). However this was way too little and too late. I blame this on management. The pricing also seemed rather high to me as the installation fees were about 40% of the cost of the speakers (but I haven't had time to cross check pricing). In any case, I will never be back; it was waste of time, motion and gas. read more

Would not recommend this location. I had them install my interlock device into my car. They barely knew how to work it and the salesman "taught" me how to blow into it. They taught me incorrectly & I had to figure it out on my own. They are SO unhelpful. Every time I spoke with someone they had an attitude. If you don't like your job you can quit??find another one??? They are more of a pain to deal with than my intoxalock people. Definitely changing service providers. The only helpful person was Tim. We have an intoxilock on our car. We had to bring it in for it's scheduled calibration. This process has to be done on a very specific schedule or you get a "black mark" on your record. The car wouldn't start so I tried to jump it but put the clamps on wrong and blew out the battery. Had to have it towed to car toys. Got the intoxilock calibration done and then, here comes the good part. Dakota did some trouble shooting, figured out the part that got damaged during the charging fiasco, called a local auto supply shop to find the part, I picked up the part and THEN, Dakota helped me put the part in. Definitely above and beyond what anyone would be expected to do! Thank you, Dakota PS. I cut my arm working on the car and Dakota brought me some antiseptic and bandaids!!!!! read more

I had a intoxalock device installed and later removed. They left my horn unplugged both times and left a bunch of rubber stuck to the inside of my window. They also took 9.5 hours to remove it. I could go back and have them fix it, pay for Uber to get home and again to get back since they'd take all day again I'm sure. I'll look up on Youtube how to reconnect rather than deal with them and PAY for their mistake. read more

I took my car here with a Groupon for an interior detail. I chose the Signature package. I've never had my car detailed, it's a 2016, so as you can imagine, it was bad. I can't believe my car now. It's like a new car. It's just incredible how good of a job they did. It took longer than I thought but it was worth the extra time and the seats had to dry out. They do hot water extraction, and makes it look brand new. The customer service was excellent. Gus was helping me and couldn't ask for a nicer more competent guy. There was a comfy waiting room and with Mercury coffee and restaurants around it across the street, you can't go wrong. I highly recommend this location for car detailing. I bought a 2010 Tacoma TRD after I totaled my 2004 Tacoma TRD extended cab last year and was fairly pleased at first with the factory JBL premium audio system in it. I discovered shortly after that the Toyota JBL audio is not customizable or able to be modified and the wiring doesn't really allow the owner or end user to do much with. After I replaced the factory JBL speakers and Toyota head unit myself, I took the truck back to Car Toys in Bellevue to swap out the factory amp and sub with a new Alpine amp supplied and dual 10" subwoofer they sold me. Dakota (senior installer) did the work and also wired my new off road lights to a dual fog and off road light switch assembly in the dash. While this kind of work isn't cheap, they did a good job and communicated with me throughout the install job and provided me multiple options. I could say some very good things about the Bellevue store that I've experienced there over several years. I made several purchases of decks, amps, speakers and the list goes on. All of which I experienced very good customer service like, most recently, when I bought a Kenwood deck that had a glitch that would occur randomly. Toys replaced the deck three times! My truck just didn't want that deck. No complaints just brain stormed the problem. They,we, ended up putting in an upgraded Alpine that I still have and enjoy. The issue that I've expieranced is when the knowledgeable techs left, they, Toys, lost the real talent that made them stand out. Now, without them, I wouldn't do any more business there again. I was upsold speakers that I didn't need and when I returned them, they didn't refund the labor cost! Complained about being "short" for the month, a quota thing I think, not my problem. 14 day garentee, full refund. I set an appointment to return the speakers in the store for the following Saturday. That Wednesday I get a call from the store manager that the appointment was made but not written in the schedule book which we did over the phone so, I show up Saturday and they tell me that I didn't have an appointment. The manager and the tech were on vacation. This is thier way of burning up the 14 day refund policy. Do yourself a solid and don't go there for anything, dishonesty won't make your business successful. read more

Overall: installation services were quality, but expensive with extra fees I'm pretty sure are just to boost profits. Technician who did my installs did a great job, was easy to work with, and friendly. I'm not a fan of Car Toys' practice of charging up front based on estimated labor with no accountability for how long the job actually took. I suspect (but can't prove) I paid for more labor hours than was needed. In both of my installs Car Toys did not call me as promised to tell me the job was done. I initially had Car Toys install a backup camera in a Honda Fit that I purchased separately off Amazon. I paid $308 for this install (2 hours of labor @ $140/hr) plus tax. They tried to add a 15% surcharge for "incidentals" like solder and tools. I pushed back on this and they dropped that charge. They told me they would call in 2 hours when the job was done. I called three hours later and they said the car was ready to go. I can't help but suspect this job took an hour or less. It would take me 2+ hours, but I'm not a pro. Someone who does this every day could probably knock this out much faster. It would build trust if CarToys accounted for the time they spent on your vehicle and the final receipt included check in and check out times plus a credit for any unused labor. I'm not accusing Car Toys of overcharging, just suspecting they could be because of the lack of accountability. A few days later the camera they installed failed (it got wet and wasn't waterproof). This is not CarToys fault, but nevertheless the $300 I had already spent was a complete waste. I decided to go ahead and buy a new Apple Carplay system with backup camera from Car Toys and have them install it. This eliminates potential for finger pointing between installer and manufacturer. My experience with this install was similar. This time they would not back out the 15% fee so I paid an extra $65 over their already hefty hourly fee to have this setup installed. I highly disagree with this practice. It is clearly profit padding. There is aboslutely no way CarToys incurred any significant expese over what I paid for individually (wiring harness, brackets, etc.). I just don't buy this - but I'm only taking off one star for this because they did disclose up front and I agreed to the fee (really didn't have a choice, but I could have gone elsewhere where competitors likely do something similar). Again no phone call or accounting for how much time was spent on the actual install. I told the sales rep I would pick up the vehicle the next morning and it was ready to go when I arrived. Despite my complaints for the 15% rate surcharge and the lack of accountability on the time spent on my vehicle, overall I think Car Toys did a good job and I'm happy with the result. In both cases they were able to do the work same day and the work was done on time (even if I didn't get a call to tell me it was done). read more

I was quoted $200 plus tax and was told it would take 1.5 hours to do the service. My vehicle was brought in and the installer sat in the car for 10 minutes while it was running as he texted on his phone. He finally turned off the car and got out and started eating and text. Finally at 3:30 he started working on the car. For the first 15 minutes he stopped multiple times to either eat or text on his phone. The car was parked right in front of the glass install bay door and I was standing in room #2 watching and I was able to see the entire job from start to finish. The job from start to finish took a total of 35 minutes which included the installer eat,drinking and texting multiple times. I'm assuming the job could have been completed within 20 minutes or less if he would have actually worked the entire time. $220 and some change after tax is a crazy price for that service. read more

ZERO STAR RATING!! I had the worst experience at this car toys. All I wanted was for them to install a screen in my car. General Manager said leave the car and we will call you when it's done. When I went to go pick up the car I open the door to check everything. I opened the door to my trim pieces hanging off, all my old stock radio stuff all over the ground as if they just threw it on the passenger floor ( they could at least put it in the box my screen came in or a bag or anything but nope they just tossed everything on the passenger floor) then I couldn't find my cigarette lighter. So when I go in the store to have a talk with the guy who did the work he came out and told me "oh my bad about the trim hanging that was my bad" then I said, "well that can be fixed but where's my cigarette lighter?!" He tells me they threw it away and then says it's just a cigarette lighter! Also this same guy that installed my screen was playing around with my Airlift 3p airbag suspension on my car. (Why is he messing with my suspension when he just needs to install my fucking screen?!) then he tells me, "Its just a bmw and told me to fuck off!"Then his other co workers /mangers come out side like they are going try to fight me and tell me to get off the property!! I'm trying to explain to these unprofessional punks that the job was to put my screen in and I thought Car toys was a professional business?! Then a guy from the shop comes out and has to try to calm everyone down and gives me $50 back and tells me to have my friend detail my car for me (being passive aggressive as if I can't do things myself on my car) I gave them $336 and had everything to put in the car plus new trim pieces and everything for the job to go perfect. (Just because I wanted it professionally done) They took my vin. Number down and said they will buy me a new cigarette lighter. It's been a month and they still haven't called to apologize, or even tell me they bought me a new cig lighter. This place is absolute trash. I made an appointment for a stereo to be installed a week in advanced. Chris, a so called "manager checked me in and another associate made me sign papers, and told me that it would take an hour from when they started. After two hours I checked my car was still outside, and when I asked what was going on Chris had no clue. When he went to check he said the installation guy had an emergency and just came back and that it would be another hour. For three hours of wasted time he was able to refund 30 dollars. This is the worst customer service I've experienced in a very long time, enough to warn others NOT TO COME HERE. I wish I listened to previous reviews. read more

Absolute SCAM. I prepaid for a $329.00 stereo and $150 speakers with free installation. When my son arrived they claimed they forgot a special wire bundle which was going to be $300, + they added another 2 hours labor to hook up blue tooth and hands free speaker controls. After they started, they said the speakers would not fit and they did not have any in stock. So, they took the speakers off the bill but I still ended up paying $1100.00 for a free installation $329.00 stereo. This was more than the original prepaid invoice. Total upselling, scam the owner once their car is apart. If I had been there instead of my son, I would have got the car and walked away and taken them to small claims court. Car Toys is the most deceptive and predatory stereo, alarm, etc. installer I have ever encountered. They refuse to give you a firm written estimate and sell you on a "bare bones" hardware only system. When you return to try and get your car back you will find they have doubled the verbal quote by adding install labor, diagnostics and labor to remove your existing system. The bill is usually 2-3x what you expected. Car Toys is a slowly dying franchise that is ripping off their customers to try and stay alive. AVOID THESE GUYS AT ALL COST!! read more

Don't spend your money here. What a waste of a day and they had to take my truck back in the shop 3 times before I was "satisfied" with the installation (I wasn't gonna leave until it was mostly right). They were just wondering if I would notice the shoddy installation. When they brought my truck out the first time, the dash piece wasn't even mounted on one corner, and huge gaps everywhere. My truck was supposed to be ready to go at 9am today (I had dropped it off at 330 pm on Sunday.. they assured me it would be done before they closed that night). I called at 11am and they said it would be ready at 1pm. I didn't show up until 130pm and didn't leave until 4pm. Also, they will jack you around on installation costs. It's not what they said it was in any flyer or in the initial quote. Parts installed: touchscreen radio, dash adapter for a Chevy truck, new speakers and a back up camera (backup camera went from label that says $125 , to being charged "misc labor" of over $200. This was never detailed before work started). Shame on me for not auditing the lines before work started. With all the rework, not even a single apology, and no one double checking their own work. Do yourself a favor and shop somewhere else. I would give a zero star if it were possible. read more
