5-stars! I saw a youtube video of another customer who installed a ZZ-2 upgrade in a Porsche PCM 3.1 system (roughly 2010-2016 Porsche models) done by Martin (Car Audio MX). I got Martin to install the same ZZ-2 module in my 2014 Porsche 911S while also adding rear and front cameras. The ZZ-2 is great since it is installed inside the existing PCM 3.1 and not an add on external device. The nice thing about the ZZ-2 solution is that the original PCM 3.1 functions continue to work in addition to having Carplay. Martin did a very clean install and I am very happy. When I put my car in reverse, the backup camera engages with guides based on steering. In addition there are visuals of my parking sensors which are really high quality. When I put the car in Drive, the front camera comes on for about 10 seconds showing me clearance in front of my car. Very nice since the bumpers are very low. All-in-all very happy and with Carplay I can now use my Porsche as a daily driver! read more

Pricing was reasonable and transparent for troubleshooting a car stereo that would periodically squeal when left on too long. We ended up trying a few different things in-store to discover that there was a hidden amplifier that could be removed. We tested the system with the removed amplifier and left it open that I could come back and re-try other components if the amplifier ended up being the problem, but they got it right on the first try. Really impressed considering the problem was intermittent and we couldn't reproduce it there. Highly recommended. I felt they were honest, reliable, and transparent throughout the process. I have Martin from Car Audio MX in San Jose to install wireless Apple Carplay/Android infotainment system and Backup Camera for my wife's Porsche 911 2014 (I believe they are two very essential features needed for most decent cars these days) I got Car Audio MX info through this very well explained YT https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NsozIy300Bg Sure enough, Martin did an excellent job. It does cost some money but within reason. Martin explained he used ZZ2 IT3-PCM31A add-on board which is a good quality and robust product and most of cost goes to this board. Martin said he tried other products but they are not as robust (reliable) as the ZZ2 one. Martin waited for me being late for 1.5hrs of an appointment on Sat, he spent 4.5 hours together with another helper for this project. Overall my wife and I are very pleased with the result. I needed my dashcam hotwired to the fuse box of my car so I wouldn't have to use the cigarette lighter. The cigarette lighter is always hot on my car and I got tired of pulling out the connection every time I shut the engine off. I just wanted to write an honest review on the positive experience I had with Car Audio MX. I purchased a Sony 7" Apple CarPlay receiver from Best Buy and made an appointment with them to have it installed. They also had me purchase a few parts that were needed to install the unit in my car so I gladly did that. I had to wait a week for my installation however so I was a bit disappointed but I was willing to wait. A few days before my installation date, Best Buy called me and told me that they needed to push my installation date out another week because they supposedly didn't have enough installers that day and were fully booked. Reluctantly, I agreed to re-scheduling my appointment date. In the meantime, I decided to make some calls to local car audio businesses to find out how much they would charge me for installation, labor only, because I had already purchased all the required parts. I got a few outrageous quotes and one person told me one of the parts won't fit my vehicle and that they can still try to install it but if it doesn't work they would still need to charge me for the labor. I said no thanks. Then I found Car Audio MX and chatted with owner Martin through Yelp. He gave me a great quote and assured me he can do the installation without any problems and offered to do it the same day. I already had other commitments that day so I rescheduled for a couple of days later. I told him about one of the parts that I was told by another installer wouldn't work in vehicle and he assured me that he had the right part in his shop and there wouldn't be any problems. I finally brought my car in and gave him my new stereo as well as the other parts and told me he would be done in 2 hours. He messaged me through Yelp a couple of hours later and told me my car was ready. I went down to pick it up and he told me there were no issues, it was very easy and had me try out the new head unit and everything worked great. The quality of work was top notch and clean. There were a couple of parts he told me I didn't need and one in particular that he had in his shop at a cheaper price and that I could return the one I purchased to Best Buy. I calculated the prices of the parts he told me I could return and all in all, Martin saved me almost $350 in parts and labor costs. Martin and his team were great and made me feel comfortable that he could do the installation without any issues while also saving me money. I'm just blown away by the great quality work Martin and his team provided but their customer service was even better. I will definitely recommend him to everyone I know who needs audio/video work done on their cars. Martin was responsive in answering my questions through Yelp and was very professional and reliable.
