This event venue/bar/brunch place opened like two months ago in Bywater and it is absolutely beautiful inside! I only tried the chicken salad sandwich which was pretty good, but the bread was a little too hard for me to chew on. They don't open on weekends for the booked events, mostly weddings! They are also starting Happy Hour on Thursdays from 3-7pm as well!! Definitely want to go back and try other things on the menu! read more

I'm surprised when this place is quiet because the music, drinks and food are always amazing. I love the food modification options; they're very conscientious of different diets. My favorite is the tofu sandwich and my husband's fav is the chicken sandwich. The appetizers are always so delicious. The service has always been friendly. Maybe the only semi-negative thing I may point to is that it's a bit cold for my taste (but then again, what most people find comfortable, I find to be freezing). Capulet is such a peaceful, lovely space and has delicious food for people of all food sensitivities, vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, you name it! The food is amazing, the broccoli falafel (pictured here with the hola Nola spinach wrap) is the only falafel in this world I like, since it's not overly salty and has an amazing flavor and texture. The echo's bagel with vegan cashew cream is to die for. The staff and owner are wonderful people, and always make sure to take good care of you. Scotty is the sweetest and has great recommendations. I'd been excited to check out this place...Met up with some friends to celebrate a birthday last night. There were only 2 people (including 1 of my friend) at the bar when we arrived. The other person sitting had already been serviced. Although we were greeted once we sat...it took about 10 minutes for one of the two bartenders to acknowledge that we were trying to place an order. This was also after another group came right up and received a warm welcome before placing an order even though we were sitting and waiting well before they got there. I placed a food order and a round of drinks, I gave a card to start a tab, the bartender swiped and handed it back to me...we added another drink to the order and the bartender asked for my card again and said "it didn't go through" the first time she swiped. I thought that was weird, but whatever. We sit and talk while waiting on food and drinks. I thought about the statement the bartender made about my card so I opened my bank app to view the authorization...the bartender authorized my card 3 times (nearly $120) for 3 drinks and a sandwich. Why?? Funds weren't an issue but why was that necessary?? There was bingo going on and the bar seemed to pick up a bit. Each time our friend (the birthday girl) wanted another drink we had to work hard to get some acknowledgement but watched as others were IMMEDIATELY serviced. One positive the CLT sandwich was absolutely delicious! But I'd had enough of the bad energy of the bartenders. I placed another drink order for the birthday girl and asked to close out my tab. The bartender who took the order actually made another person's drink (who walked up after I had already ordered) before ours...When closing out the tab, they asked "Is the card you gave us good to run"...What?! I told them I had already been authorized 3 times but yes...just as an FYI, the bill was only $66. I'll NEVER go back to this place. Terrible service, I didn't feel welcome at all. read more

While this review could also about the great food and ambience of this special place, I want to shine the spotlight on the owner Steve Nutting. We were all set to have our daughter's wedding there this November, until the whole COVID 19 scenarios (indoor seating policies, travel, etc) made it unworkable. We had contractually agreed and made a non-refundable deposit. One email to Steve explaining our situation was responded to promptly and with a completely generous and voluntary compromise. To say that Steve "worked with us" is an understatement. He demonstrated responsiveness and empathy for our situation, during a financial time that's difficult everywhere. As if the food and ambience aren't enough - Capulet has the "secret sauce" of Steve Nutting. Five Stars! read more

The ambiance is warm stylish and welcoming, the cocktails are unique thoughtful and delicious, and the food...the food is out of control good. I had the Kimchi BLT and I would fly the 4 hour flight again just to have it again. But food and drink are only two of the elements that make NOLA magic, the people are the final ingredient. I have celiac disease, so I was ecstatic to discover that the head chef is trained (and trains his staff) in gluten-free preparation. This was my first time here and unfortunately will be my last. The space is a big echoey warehouse with tables in the middle of the room. We were here for lunch and ordered at the counter. I ordered a coffee which is serve yourself and the counter. There was only enough for a half cup. I told the person at the counter and a half hour later there was still no coffee. I ordered the CLT. On the menu it is cauliflower, lettuce, and tomato on sourdough. I was excited because I am vegetarian and gluten free. They changed it to carrot, lettuce, and tomato. When I asked the waiter he said, " Oh yeah we forgot to change it on the menu." He didn't offer to change my order. I was so hungry I ate it anyway. Perfect spot for lunch and/or happy hour! I tried the Kimchi CLT (cauliflower subbed for bacon) and it was heaven. Nice big portion with delicious sourdough bread. Bonus points for the bread being from Bellegarde, another local New Orleans small business. They also had some of my favorite local beers on tap - Korova Milk Porter and Jucifer from Gnarley Barley. The bartender was crafting up what sounded like delicious cocktails but I was there for work so I couldn't indulge too much. Since it doubles as an event space there's plenty of room to spread out. I brought my laptop and cozied up on one of their couches. It was a nice change from the usual packed coffee house. Definitely will be going back for happy hour. The rooftop has amazing city views and it's huge so no one has to be on top of each other. Staff was cute as hell. Decor was too. Healthy, vegetarian, vegan options. Sandwiches were really delicious and fresh. We were originally interested in sitting on the roof, but it was so hot we ate at one of the couches by the window instead. The interior is cavernous and as a result a bit cold. Would be cool if there was something to fill the vaulted ceilings, but everything is painted a sort of neutral gray. It's clearly an event space that is also a cafe. But bartender was friendly and our food was a nice change of pace from the heavier southern food we had been eating. read more

It should have been a clue when I walked in that nobody was in there. The entire hour and a half I was in there nobody came for lunch. I hadn't eaten there before so I ordered 4 things off the menu thinking I would try a few and take home leftovers. I also got a Bloody Mary that I only could get through a third of because it had so much PICKLED things in it that that's all I tasted. Everything I ordered also had pickled peppers in or on it and they are such a strong flavor that they really shouldn't so that everything similar. I got the fried cauliflower, which is my second favorite food and for the rest of my life whenever I have fried cauliflower I will think of how weird and unappetizing it was, it had a kind of sweet flavor instead of savory and wasn't actually breaded at all. The falafel in the broccoli falafel sandwich was soggy and the bread tasted like the PICKLED peppers they stacked on top. The tofu cauliflower salad was also soggy and had way too much dressing and seasoning already on it when I got it. I left really pissed and totally feeling like I wasted about fifty bucks, I left and was pretty disappointed. Zero out of five stars. read more

Stopped in for lunch at this new gem in the Bywater neighborhood in downtown New Orleans. If I could rate it 10 stars, I would. The decor was absolutely beautiful, with a vintage feel and modern twist. The food was exceptionally fresh, and we tried just about every item on the menu as we were there with a large party. The chicken salad was life-changing, and the full gamut of appetizers were to die for. The bartender surprised us with a fresh bourbon-based cocktail, which was superior to any we had previously. The owner, Steve, greeted us and stopped by on multiple occasions to check on us and make sure the quality of food and drinks was up to bar. Really a fantastic experience. Capulet is awesome! The space is open and airy, while offering up enough cozy corners. The food that I've tried has been delicious. I'm kind of annoying about eating at restaurants, but Capulet seasons their food properly. It's flavorful, bright and fresh, and not just a different version of the same old thing.
