I guess they were use to a clientele that "didn't mind" eating veggies & coleslaw wth their fingers! A extremely poor response to a reasonable request! Instead of apologizing for the inconvenience- before we ordered as that would have changed my ordered to "finger foods," Instead of some guy behind the counter using profanity towards me - as I went next door to a pizza parlor that happily gave me forks wth a smile! Was in the area and decided on "fast food seafood". There was a meal deal that consisted of shrimp, fish, and a crab cake (included fries and coleslaw). The downside was that the wait in the drive-thru line was ridiculous. I am not a frequent visitor, so I am not sure if this was normal or if this was a fluke. But, from my experience, unless you have loads of time, don't do the drive-thru line! This is definitely not a Chick-fil-a drive-thru experience. With that said, when I did get to the window, the person who took my payment and gave me my order was nice/pleasant. Additionally, the food was good (typical fast-food fish and shrimp). I will probably visit again when I am on that side of town, but I will make sure I am not in a hurry. :o) read more

This place is horrible. The employees have nasty additudes and take their time making the food. The quality of the food is poor and the cost is way too high for how little you get. Seen one of the employees women with white hair, arguing with a customer and then threw the food at the person's car, calling them names and criticizing the customer. I will never eat in this place again. Then, after the customer left, the employees were laughing about what happened. Very rude. read more

Came here today for lunch after my husband's surgery. Preston waited on us and was super friendly, helpful and had a great attitude. With the masks, he misunderstood my order but promptly fixed it. Food was good, but I mostly wanted to give Preston some praise. Good job young man. read more

Great food....!! can't think of anything bad about this place. I always get the two piece fish and fries. If I get the fish dinner it tends to make me want to go to sleep. A little secret about this place is that on Thursday they have free kids meals. As a result, me and my little guy swing in. He gets his shrimp platter (it averages 9 shrimp) and mac n cheese and I get my 2 piece. The manager is always saying hi and asking how our meal was...nice atmosphere. They also have kids face painting on Thursday as well. We have since become regulars here...solid 5 stars! read more

Food tasted good going down but it didn't want to stay there. The food settled in my stomach and all the grease just started bubbling. I want to blame it on something in the chicken or possibly something in the coleslaw. But if it makes me sick I don't come back. So this might be great if you are planning on cheating on a diet. Management and staff paid careful attention to Covid 19 procedures, with tasty seafood at very reasonable prices. Friendly dinner crew kept up with a big dinner rush! I've got nothing bad to say about the food. It is always heavenly. I pretty much get the same meal each time and split into two dinners. The only issue I have is that whenever I order it for delivery, they forget to give the Dasher the drink I order each time, without fail. On top of that, they put all of 2 tbsp of the mac and cheese that I paid $3.19 for tonight. I was in luck that the Dasher, Taiishina, was nice enough to go all the way across town to get my drink and a serving of mac and cheese that matched the price I paid for it. I will always go back as I can, though, because nobody matches how good their food is. I ordered a three piece fish meal with fries for $7.99, fish and shrimp meal with fries $8.19, a large drink sierra mist $2.39, a funnel cake sticks $2.49. Order #0001 The total order with tax was $22.64 that I paid with my debit card. First of all, I waited 30 minutes for my food. I noticed that the food I ordered didn't taste good. I walked on the inside to take the food back for a full refund. The young lady informed me that since I paid with my card, and it had been over thirty minutes, I could not receive a refund from the restaurant, it had to come from Corporate office. After, a couple weeks, nothing. A few more weeks still nothing. I did not hear from anyone from Captain D's or their higher office. I have made numerous attempts to no avail. Finally, I contacted the BBB on July 29, 2021. August 23, 2021, per the BBB contacted me, Captain D's did not respond and they had to close the complaint #15708909. So I decided to place my review on Yelp. Also this is the phone number 1-800-314-4819 Numerous attempts were made. I am very disappointed, in this restaurant, and have not visited a Captain D's since this experience. If this is how the treat patrons. I did not think a refund would be so difficult. ordered on line which I have never done before. I got the whitefish which is always good but I would have preferred to have it fried a couple minutes longer (crispy) but there is no way to leave a detail or request. So I got what they gave me. The broccoli was bits and pieces& the green beans were way salty but had a good taste. Looked like they had been pressed down for some odd reason and part of the fish was laying on top with the 2 hushpuppies rolling around in the large compartment. Also, employees should not be allowed to be using their cell phones except when on break. It is rude and annoying like the customer is the 2nd most important at the moment. And change the darn gloves. A guy using already used gloves took an order outside, came back in using the same gloves handing out the pick up orders and sending and receiving texts all the time. He was nice enough but it just wasn't right. I wanted to ask him "where do you think you are, Wal-mart". Next time I go, IF, I will go inside to order. That way my fish will be cooked the way I like it, not sitting in a carry out losing what little crispness it had to it to start with. Hushpuppies are always great. read more

Most likely the last time we come here. No lobster bites, no lobster for the lobster roll, out of baked potatoes and corn on the cob and it is just going on 5:30 on a Saturday afternoon. I am still not sure why we decided to order since they didn't have any of the items I requested. read more

Never have bad food here. Service has been good. If can't catch it yourself, for fast seafood, you can't beat it. Like it better than LJS.

Friday, February 16, 2018- Well, as with any other Friday during Lent season, we call it fish Friday. Went to the only Captain Ds in Tallahassee. I was so looking forward to a Captain D's fish and chips platter meal, it's been years since we had had it. Well, I must admit I was very sadly disappointed today and probably will never return again. I'll start with the service we walked in and everyone looked busy. After five minutes of waiting, the young lady working cashier at the drive-thru finally came over and took my order, I ordered the fish and shrimp combo meal deal not realizing it didn't come with a drink, she remembered to ask me if I wanted drink I said yes a small drink please that's another two dollars, ok fine. I went and served myself some sweet tea, it was approximately 80% water 15% sugar and 5% tea, almost looked like a very light in color sweetened water, the unsweetened tea was just as bad. My partner didn't place his order until several minutes later. We finally sat down and waited and waited, at last my order was ready I picked it up and went back to our table and sat down to start eating. Something didn't smell right I think it was the overly fried shrimp, I mean they were thin butter fly shrimp that were in old grease for about 15 minutes. But that smell was too much almost smelled like rancid grease. I was halfway through my meal about 15 minutes and my coworker finally got his meal, came and sat down. I showed him how bad the fish was by rolling it in paper towels to absorb the grease it was ridiculous I also showed him the leather bound shrimp that was over cooked in the fryer. This has to be one of my worst $8.00 lunch meal I have ever eaten or almost eaten. If it were up to me I'd fire the cook and manager for putting out such a bad meal. Most everyone won't get the chance to read my full message, but you're almost better off with the McDonalds Fish Fillet. Never again Captain Ds in Tallahassee. read more

I am not a chain fan but since finding this Capt D's I'm a fried fish fan. They have whitefish and smelt I think. The smelt is in the $4.99 menu. Cole slaw is good, hush puppies spot on and fish is crunchy goodness. It is what it is- fast food - a chain - but good for a quick lunch. read more

Good food with friendly staff. This is my second favorite fast food restaurant in Tallahassee. I enjoy eating here.
