The condo had dirty, badly stained old carpeting and the drapes covered with dust balls! We put a coverlet and sheets over the upholstered sofa and arm chair as they reeked of nicotine and were dirty. A carpet cleaner was sent so we had to leave as things had be moved off the floor & into the small kitchen. Drapes were put into a washing machine and came out a wrinkled Mess. They did buy some new bed pillows when we sent photos of the black mold on existing pillows. Shower had black mold that we had to clean. It was gross. We had to wipe out drawers prior to using them. The medicine cabinet and under the sinks needed cleaning as well. Our complaint that was forwarded to the "Operations Manager" was not addressed. After 2 tries we gave up. We would not use this company again as there is no telling what the condition of the condo will be. Pictures look good but don't reveal the true condition. The city/mountain view was great but the constant sirens were maddening. We prefer to have the windows open but during the night it's not possible with all the sirens 24/7! read more

We rented out unit 1408, which is on the 14th floor. We paid over 2k for 4 nights for a get away. We are 3 nights in to our vacation and it has been the worst experience of our lives. Directly below us "apparently there is a board member for the building." Not sure what his name is. He has reported us to security like 5 times. First for playing normal music on the balcony on a Friday night at 9pm. He then accused us of vaping and continued to harass us for the last 3 nights. Every night we smell marijuana and other scents from our balcony and apparently he loved to blame us. The man would literally go to his balcony when he would hear us, stick his head out and try and look at our suite. He even tried taking pictures and would look up and try to find an excuse to call security. We were and are getting harassed, we wasted a small fortune getting this place thinking we will enjoy paradise. It's 12:23am right now and I just caught him looking up at our balcony. I will report his behavior to the BBB, get in touch with the board. We called security to report this creepy behavior along with telling them to come check our room for marijuana, smoke or anything else that makes them feel comfortable to prove that we didn't do anything wrong. His entire agenda is to get us kicked out! Stay Away! read more

First off, the location was prime during my short visit. We were literally in walking distance of restaurants, shops, and International Marketplace/the mall. The price per night was unbelievable (lower rates due to COVID actually). Paul greeted us upon arrival; he seemed like a quirky fun person just living his best life with aloha . He always picks up the phone too which is good. The unit itself was clean, presentable, and homey; absolutely loved the outdoor balcony. There were plenty of towels (including beach towels), tissues, toilet paper, shampoo/conditioner/lotion/soap, silverware, etc., stocked in the condo. We even used the laundry detergent, HOWEVER, the price per load to wash and dry was very high (~$4 to wash & almost the same to dry!) and limited to only quarters (..this was a struggle during the coin shortage). I normally don't do laundry when I'm away on vacation so it will not affect my review.. (but we went through towels so fast from surfing everyday.) Anyways, we will be staying here again when we come back to beautiful Hawaii! read more

We booked an apartment through Airbnb at the Waikiki Sunset. It wasn't cheap, but after spending three weeks there, we feel it was well worth it. Everything you could possibly need is provided, including beach chairs, mats and umbrellas. They provide washing machine detergent pods, and the machines down the hall are easy to use through a handy phone app. The bed was comfortable, there are two TVs, the AC worked well, and the terrace is lovely to sit on in the morning and late afternoon. It's also convenient to the beach, the bus line, and restaurants. We highly recommend it! read more

Rented via Captain Cook Resorts. Condo unit #1110 is as stated, and views are really great, location great, cleanliness of unit was okay (noticeable crust on floor, wall light switches stained, pillows yellow stains, cereal in fold out couch which my daughter slept on, and socks in the fold-out from previous occupants), unit was remodeled and was okay. Property manager Paul Tucker was okay and had some weird corny jokes and was a bit odd in his demeanor, we paid in advance for off-site parking but as we checked in with property manager he said he had a parking spot for us in the condo building he would let us use, so I asked him "so we paid for off-site parking, is this spot included in the condo rental I asked" he kinda got snippy about that, and said "hey I hooked you up didn't I, or would you rather park across town" so I didn't question it any further. A few days later he text and called me several times and he obviously gave us a parking spot that belonged to another unit and hinted that we might have to park off-site and give that spot up, he never called us back to tell us to move, but this stressed us out a bit and was uncomfortable making us feel that maybe our car is going to be towed or something, but it never happened. There were other encounters that put a down-beat tone to our experience. we were told that the driveway to the building was under construction, ( I agreed prior to this before committing) that was okay by me and was tolerable. However we were not told the two neighboring condo units (to our left and to our right) were under remodel also. We encountered on several occasions the elevator to the 11th floor where our unit was, is also being used by the construction crew doing the remodels, and on two occasions we could not use the elevator as they were bringing material and tools up/down from the 11th floor to the 1st floor, at one point a construction crew member told me outright I couldn't use the elevator going up or down as they needed it, also the water was shut off for half a day also, due to the remodels in progress. Myself being in pretty good shape used the stairs to the 11th floor, my wife being in pretty good shape also, but having asthma she encountered an attack while attempting to climb these 11 floors of steps, and I almost had to take her to emergency, but was able to get it under control in our room, using what asthma inhalers she brought on our trip, to make matters worse the rental unit directly below us, had tenants who smoked cigarettes' on the balcony ( 4th day into our stay they showed up) and the smoke entered our unit significantly as the glass sliding doors did not seal, and were in pretty rough condition and did not lock, and smoke entered in a noticeable manner even I could smell it quit a lot. This made it very uncomfortable as we do not like using the AC, we enjoy the warm tropical weather and sounds of the waves from the beach below, but this was curtailed by the people below making the remainder of our stay down-beat. we will not stay here again, nor will we recommend it. read more

I've been a Captain Cook patron for quite a few years in Oahu. I've used other agencies, but CC always has a standard that's consistent. It's always a great start of our vacation. No worry! in our past visit to the island, it's a long awaited vacation after COVID. We planned a month long stay in our usual hangout. CC actually placed us in a condo that was due to be renovated after 2- wks into our vaca. When they noted their mistake, the manager, Petra, stepped in and tried to compensate aggressively. She arranged us to be in a much more upgraded place than our original reservation. It's certainly above and beyond the call of duty. Mistake happens everyday - it's up to responsible, ethical business to step up and rectify the errors. Majority of patrons are responsible and just want to be heard. We are repeat customers that have enjoyed your services in the past. However, this last time will be our last. I was appalled of the lack of professionalism of your property manager, Paul Tucker. He was waiting for us outside the hotel so I walked up to him and introduced myself and extended my hand out to shake his. He refused to shake my hand and suggested a fist pump instead and went on to ask if I had kudies. I looked at him in disbelief... what are we 8 years old?!?!? He then handed me the parking card and I questioned him, how do I know you don't have kudies? His reply was unbelievable, "I probably do, I checked in a lot of Chinese earlier" I understand we are all on high alert with this Coronavirus going around but if you cannot remain professional, you should not be in sales/customer service. read more

This is a review of their customer service - we had spring break reservations for a Waikiki condo until...this little virus thing decided to damper our plans. Although only a few weeks away from the travel dates, we were compelled to cancel our trip. After a few clarifying emails, following the lead of other understanding businesses, Captain Cook offered us a full refund, truly demonstrating their aloha spirit! Unit came with beach chairs and umbrellas, and very welcome air conditioning. The unit isn't fancy, but had everything we needed to be comfortable and enjoy our stay. I've been very happy with Captain Cook resorts. When we needed a long term hotel stay between houses, we decided to check out vacation rentals to find a larger place with a kitchen and parking instead of struggling to find a reasonably priced hotel. Enter Captain Cook vacation properties. They have a great website with a great variety of properties to consider. You can search by amenities and the prices varied to fit many budgets. The property we booked was superb, exceeded our expectations with many items stocked to ensure a pleasant stay. Our property manager met us to show us around and check to see if everything was perfect for our stay. He even arranged for extra beach towels and bath towels to be brought based on the size of our family even though I would have been perfectly happy with what was provided. There is a very well designed iPhone/Android app that is just awesome, made the stay more pleasant by having maps, contact numbers, event notices, etc. I would for sure recommend Captain Cook for anyone looking for a vacation rental or alternative to a long hotel stay. read more

I was visiting my son and daughter in law who just had a baby in Waikiki so rented a condo near them through Captain Cook. I stayed in 708 at Four Paddles. I had a great experience from the time I booked it until the time I left. The condo was clean and had everything we needed. I wanted a full kitchen so I could cook for the new family. I was amazed at how well stocked the kitchen was. Every utensil/machine I needed was there. The unit came with a washer, dryer and dishwasher which was very nice. The condo was clean and all the furniture was in good shape. It was less expensive than a hotel room and with the full kitchen it made the vacation much less expensive. The reviews I read said there was construction noise across the street at the Ritz which there was, but certainly not any more noise than you normally hear in a downtown area. Shopping at Waikiki was very close. The beach is a bit far so if you are looking to hear or see the ocean this condo isn't for you. It's about a half mile to a mile walk so certainly not a long walk. The condo had 2 beach chairs and beach towels, as well as more linens than the 3 of us could use. It is a small condo but was still much more comfortable than a hotel room. The condo came with a parking spot which is a big deal in Honolulu. There is a security guard on sight 24 hours a day which made things feel very secure even though the condo is in a good area. They were attentive and caught things I never would have guessed they would notice so I know they were watching, but never felt obtrusive. I will definitely be using Captain Cook again if I have the need to rent something in Oahu and will be recommending it to anyone that is visiting my son and needs a place to stay. This condo was just awesome clean, bright with sunlight, quiet, peaceful and spacious. Plus i got a great deal. Actually NO stars!! I would be very careful before booking through this agency. Got to our condo just to find out the pool is closed for maintenance. I wasn't told this prior to arrival or I would have booked someplace else. Everyone was pointing the finger at the other person for not informing me of this before hand. Apparently there is no communication between management & Captain Cook or there is & didn't want me to know for fear of canceling. Pictures on website made the condo appear bigger than it was & it needed a good, good, good cleaning. For what I paid, & the condition this condo was in, I would never have stayed here! If these are the types of condos Captain Cook rents out, they do not care or pay attention to the conditions they are in. I guess it's all about the money. Look somewhere else if you want a clean & working condo. Without listing all that was wrong with this place, Captain Cook never offered any money back for the inconveniences this condo caused us. Lesson learned. Thumbs down! read more
