Coming here for New Year's Eve I did my best not to have any expectations as it was my first time visiting. Upon arrival it took a few minutes before anyone standing at the host desk noticed or greeted us. Upon greeting us they were prompt to seat us with our party who had arrived first, up in a more remote area of the building. It was nice to be up there as it was not noisy at all. The server did a great job with his service. The food was delicious. I felt like the server could have used a little more help with clearing plates and keeping water glasses full, but over all it was a very pleasant evening. One of the best restaurant experiences I've had in a long time. The service was AMAZING and the food was even better. I had an espresso martini, scallop risotto and the crème brûlée. I've been on an espresso martini kick and this is the best I've had in Indianapolis. The restaurant is so beautiful as well, very comfortable and homey. I used to love this place. Great food but the service has gone to heck. Here's how I arrived at my rating: Rude Item: Went to Capri yesterday (4 pm reservations). Our party of 5 walked in and up to the hostess stand at 3:55 pm. Hostess was unnecessarily rude, telling us, "You cannot go to your table until 4 pm when we open." Strange Item #1: Our server took each of our drink orders and then just stood there. Not saying a word, just staring at the table. I mentioned to him that he had each of our drink orders and asked him if he needed anything else. He said "no" and walked away. Strange Item #2: Our server did the same thing again after he took our appetizer orders and then, later, our entree orders. Both times, the server just stood there staring and did not move. Both times, my husband reminded him that each of us had already ordered. Strange and Rude Item #3: At the end of dinner, our server brought one bill and handed it to my husband. The server NEVER asked how or if he should split the bill. My husband and I never intended to foot the bill for everyone in our group! Shocked and not wanting to embarrass anyone, my husband gave the server his credit card and said "thank you." Super Strange and Very Rude Item #4: Upon my husband saying, Thank you," the server replied, "Don't thank me, your the one paying the bill." Our entire table gasped at the server's remark. Strange and Rude Item #5: After adding in a 15% tip *, my napkin was slightly on the black bill/invoice holder. The folder was on the table between my husband and me. A napkin was slightly on it. While our group was talking, the server reached his hand from behind my husband and me (we were sitting close to each other), removed my napkin from the folder, and grabbed it. Never did he say, "Excuse me," or "Would it be all right if I took the folder." Strange Item #6: After grabbing the folder and looking inside (for his tip we assume), he approached another employee and started pointing at our table in a very unhappy and obvious manner. He did this in plain sight of us and other customers. At one point, we all though he was going to come over and yell at us. Final Rude Item: While leaving, we walked right next to him. He would not look at us or acknowledge our presence. * We normally tip between 20-22%. Due to our server's uncomfortable behaviors and rudeness, we gave him 15%. If he is mad at that, then he needs to look inward at how he treats people. read more

The ambience at this restaurant is wonderful, particularly in the bar area with the fireplace. Staff caters to you and is so friendly. Our server Andrew was great! Wine bottles vary in price for $40 range to much much higher. Their food menu is quite large and has a lot to offer, plus the specials are a great bonus. The bread to start was good, as well as the Cesar salad (however quite expensive, $10). My husband had the bolognese which he loved and I had the rotini was was pretty good. Our first time at Capri did not disappoint. We had their stuffed Portobello mushroom for an appetizer, which smelled so delicious I forgot to snap a photo because we devoured it. Their pasta and sauces are handmade in-house which speaks to their authenticity. Both of our entrees were fantastic. And on our last visit we discovered that there is a nook outside next to the entrance that is home to a nice large table in the shade and partially covered. So if you have a small group of 8-10 people as we had, this is a perfect secluded area, like your own private outdoors dining room. And private parking lot is always a plus in my book. I highly recommend their soups. Yeah I know, not what you'd expect, but the soups here are awesome. So ask what the soup of the day is and try it. Bolognese is my go-to. My measuring stick for Italian restaurants, since you have to excell in the basics before you can get fancy and also to get my vote. And it never disappoints. Love their Bolognese. And for dessert? The staff is very friendly and helpful. Our group shared a delicious bottle of Amarone (a dry red wine), which paired perfectly with our pasta lunches. Our husbands opted for the pork chop and beef filet because they were a good deal at lunch prices but dinner portions, and those came with potatoes au gratin and a vegetable medley. My friend and I each got the lunch combo, which is also a killer deal. For just $12.50 you get a nice soup or salad, your choice of one of three pastas (two of which are vegetarian), plus Tiramisu. I enjoyed a lovely mixed greens salad, delicious homemade gnocchi in a red sauce with fresh mozzarella and basil, and the amazing Tiramisu (light and fresh). I will definitely be back. read more

Tonight we visited one of Indy's finest and oldest locally owned restaurants. This restaurant is about as close to authentic Italian as you can get from the food to the staff and the experience as a whole. It is no surprise that this restaurant has been open since 1951! We started out with freshly baked bread and butter, Calamari Fritti, Antipasto Misto, and Melanzane Parmigiana. For our entrees we got a little bit of everything. Some of our favorites were the Chicken Parmigiana, Fettuccine del Golfo, Tortelloni alla Papalina, and the Gnocchi de Patate Sorrentina. We finished out the night with Crème Brulle, Tiramisù, Raspberry Cheesecake, and a couple of other desserts, none of which were disappointing. While the food was good, I think the warm and welcoming ambiance here is really what made this restaurant stand out! The engagement from all of the staff members, especially from our amazing waiter Eugenio and the general manager Aaron, was something that you would not experience anywhere else. The ambiance when you walk in is dark and warm, and the servers are incredible friendly- they pull your chair out for you and give you extra fresh cheese encouragingly! I've been here before the quarantine and was so happy to be back. Since restaurants are not allowed to accommodate at their full capacity, it was definitely easy to get a parking spot. The restaurant has a great large parking lot. When we walked in, staffs greeted us and of course all the staffs were wearing masks. Place looked very clean. I did not see a single spot with a dust. That's how much clean it looked. Food was great. Pasta dishes were all good but I was impressed with fries calamari. The crispness of batter and texture of cooked calamari was simply perfect. My husband had an espresso martini which he enjoyed very much. As for me I'm allergic to alcohol so I requested fruity non alcoholic drink. And they have came back with fruity juicy refreshing drink. Went here for Indy Devour, winter edition. It was delicious. I would give 5 stars but the carpaccio left something to be desired (we ordered it off menu because my Girlfriend loves it). It was not part of the Devour Indy menu. Service was excellent as well from Hostess to waiter to mgr coming by and asking how things were going. Ambiance was very nice in the "Bar" area, real wood fire place and plenty of room to stay distanced safely. Ordered the Carpaccio and Spicy shrimp appetizers, the house salad, Spaghetti Bolognese (Veal based) and Tiramisu for dessert. Carpaccio was frozen to teh plate and not given time to thaw before being brought out. Thus, the flavor of the meat never could come through. Having to scrape it from the plate made more work than an 18$ appetizer should be. The shrimp were deliciously spicy and a great counter point to the Carpaccio. The spice used on the shrimp was hot, but then in a few moments, it was gone from the palate, which was very nice, didn't impact the rest of the meal as some spicy dishes do. The house vinaigrette dressing was especially good, as it was sweeter than most and didn't have that harsh vinegar lingering flavor. I wish I knew how they made that. The Spaghetti was definitely the highlight of the evening, large portion (which I had for lunch the next day as well). The noodles were homemade and delicious, sauce was thick like I enjoy and meaty. Best spaghetti I have had in a long time. Tiramisu was light and fluffy and perfect. Will definitely be returning as this has become our new goto Italian place!! read more

I am so disappointed to write this review on this seemingly beloved restaurant, but the way we were treated here tonight was unacceptable. This was my first experience at Capri. While I was born and raised in the Indy area, I no longer live in Indiana but return often. However, my entire family lives here, as well as my extensive friend and professional network, and I was excited to try this place out. I have heard great things about it and when it was suggested by my mom as a girls night to celebrate her end of chemo treatments it sounded like the perfect place. We made our dinner reservation for our party of 3 at 4:30pm as to get there early to avoid as many people as possible since my mom is immune compromised as a cancer patient. We were running behind due to traffic and called at 4:40pm to let them know, to which we were told okay and "we will mark you down as late". We arrived before 4:50pm, were greeted with a couple of extremely unfriendly and unwelcoming girls at the hostess stand and told they needed the table vacated by 6:30pm. Never in my life have I ever been told how long a table was available to us, but, no problem. It was before 5:00pm at that point and 6:30pm was over 90 minutes away. We were seated at a lovely table right by the fireplace. We sat down and were poured water, began to peruse the menu, napkins in lap and settled when Liv (Liz?) the head rude/unwelcoming hostess comes over to our table and tell us she has to MOVE US to another table with zero explanation. What??!! Is this a joke?! Shocked, we gather our stuff and get up and move from the fireplace table, which by the way, we never asked for that specific table in the first place. I asked why we were being moved and Liv/Liz says it's because another party is coming in earlier than expected. Our night was saved by our wonderful server Jason who was very pleasant and we enjoyed very much. He was very nice, chatty, knowledgeable, and accommodating. Outside of the company, he was the best part of the night. However, I will never, ever return to this restaurant and will make sure to tell any and everyone about this experience and recommend never wasting their time here. The owner walked around the dining room and greeted guests and never made an effort to come to our table to explain or apologize. Oh, and if you were wondering, the table we were moved from at 4:50pm was not seated by the guests that were "arriving earlier than expected" until 6:35pm. Tucked away hidden from the main thoroughfares is a gem of place. Wonderful menu, appetizers to appease anyones fancy. The shrimp of the devil was spicy and cooked perfectly, calamari seasoned and fried to a crisp! So many pasta options you can't go wrong! Save room for the dessert menu, tiramisu, gelato, sorbet, cannolis and the list goes on. The Tiramisu was the best I have ever had. My husband and I visited Capri for our anniversary last month. We had a reservation, and it may be that you need to specifically reserve for the patio, because we were seated inside, where Sinatra played on an endless loop. I had a pasta dish with chicken and asparagus that was pretty lackluster, but my husband enjoyed his special risotto. The cocktails were enjoyable as well, and our waiter was attentive. I was really looking forward to tiramisu for dessert, but our waiter said it was a "deconstructed" version of tiramisu and that he didn't really recommend it. At least he was honest! We had dinner here on a Wednesday night. We had reservations and were seated immediately. Our waiter was very nice, but clearly he had too many tables. He rushed over and said he was bringing us water, we asked if we could also have iced tea, any quickly walked away, and did bring our drinks to us quickly. He also brought us rolls, which were cold and hard. Two other tables were seated after us, and while we were waiting for 30 minutes for our waiter to come back and take our order, both of the tables that were seated after us already had their salads before we had even placed our orders. I don't eat, veal, and all of the choices with meat sauce were made with veal. I decided to order the short ribs, and unfortunately they were out of short ribs that evening, so I ordered the linguine with clams and red sauce, because I asked if the white wine sauce had a strong wine taste and he told me that it depended on my pallet, and I'm not a wine drinker, so I opted for the red sauce, but it really wasn't that good and you don't get a lot of food for the price. On a good point, the wedge salad was delicious, and I left wishing I had ordered the wedge salad with a protein for my dinner. My husband follows a food blogger on Instagram. She posted a pasta dish from Capri. He instantly knew where he wanted to have his birthday dinner. You should make a reservation by calling or using the Open Table app. When we arrived they had our table all ready for our party of five. The bread was delicious! Soft, fluffy hot bread and butter...definitely worth the carbs! We all agreed to order something different so we could sample each other's selections. Chicken Scallopine Parmigiana, Gnocchi di Patate Sorrentina, Spaghetti Bolognese, Fettuchina del Golfo and Ravioli Aurora. Everything was delicious. Fresh ingredients, homemade pasta, delicious sauces and perfectly executed entrees. They have one GF pasta type option which supposedly is house made but seemed store bought. The sauce was good though. The salads were small but tasty. No GF bread options. So overall a nice dinner, nothing I would rush back to though as there are other better Italian restaurants on the northside that have great house made GF pasta. read more

Compared to other Italian restaurants in the area it's a bit pricey as the meals don't come with a salad but the portions are big enough to split. I had the Cesar salad and spaghetti bolognese. Cesar salad was a little soggy like it had been tossed in dressing well before hand but it was tasty and appeared to be made in house. Bolognese was good and the spaghetti tasted homemade. Not a typical bolognese appeared to only have meat no veggies. Bottle of wine was delicious and reasonable price point. Wood burning fire place was roaring which added to the experience. read more
