Nice family owned business. Polite and efficient service. A neighborhood store, lots of regulars, a commercial community.

Very depressing plexiglass everywhere. I wouldn't work in an area where I felt so unsafe.

The store was really messy and for some odd reason they didn't sale green onions. So again it might be because it was later in the day (4pm)...but damn it should have still been better stocked and cleaner than it was since they don't close until 10pm. If you don't have that rewards card the prices are expensive so make sure your rewards card is working because I made that mistake...Smdh Again...I'll give them a try during the morning to see if anything changes. If not I'm going to have to find another grocery store to shop.

Some of them don't even know it exists! I followed all the directions but they still treated me like a thief when I tried to leave the store. Paid nearly $200 for groceries only to have them make a huge scene and put me on display in front of the store while they verified video footage of me while they had both the receipt and all of the merchandise right in front of them. At that point, I just wanted a refund. I paid for everything, never left the store, all the merchandise was still in the cart, and they still detained me like a criminal. When it was over, out of the four or five employees involved, not one apologized for the misunderstanding. I like shopping at Giant but it's a shame you have to drive out to suburbia to be treated with respect. If they are going to treat people like this, they should just take the Scan It! out of the store. Wasted my time and ruined my day.

I bring a change purse and my own bag which I use to carry items because THERE ARE NO hand baskets. I take everything out and then flatten it so they can see there is nothing in there. One time I brought a change purse and no bag and bought one donut and Zyrtec. I was holding these two items. The guard told the White woman who works there that he thought I was stealing. She came over confused because there was nowhere for me to put anything. We shook our head and I paid and left. I rarely go here because I hate being treated like a criminal.

It really has to be something to get me to write a review. I have had more than a few incidents at…read morethis Giant. Unfortunately I have become accustomed to receiving subpar service/quality here so I've mostly ignored them. Most of the incidents revolve around lack of items, quality of items in some situations, store upkeep and customer service. I am of the belief that this is due to where this Giant is located. It is clear that this Giant and many nearby stores don't respect the customer base in this area. They don't seem to fear any retribution for the treatment of the people who patronize this store. We, as customers, are paying the same prices but receiving discount quality and service compared to customers at the same chain in different neighborhoods. The two incidents I've had involve one person. I didn't get the name but it was a middle aged white woman. I believe she was a manager of some kind. The only reason I'm distinguishing her race is because she may be the only white person working in that store as this is a predominantly Black American area. First incident: I was in line and ready to checkout in one of the 12 items or less registers. I was moving up in a line I was in for more than a few minutes (lines are consistently long) by now when the person in question came up and says, "this line is for 12 items or fewer". I look down at my cart and begin to count my items. I had 16 items. I just looked at her with bewilderment and moved to another much longer line (I wonder how corporate would feel if I put 4 items back costing the store money because one of their employees strict enforcement of FOUR extra items in my cart?) Trust me I totally understand adhering to policy and not slowing up the line for people trying to get in and out but this seemed a little excessive. On its own, this was not enough to illicit a response or review but the next incident raised my ire enough to report. Second incident: This incident maybe happened some four to five months later involving the same person. This time I'm checking out my items engaging in friendly banter with the cashier when the person in question comes up to the cashier, whispers in her ear then leaves. I didn't think anything of it until the cashier tells me she told her not to forget the water under my cart. At that point I had already told the cashier and she acknowledged. She looked uncomfortable telling me what she said. I told her that it was insulting to assume I'm trying to sneak out with a 32 pack of water. I don't really care about the excuse that this happens at this store. I'm sure water is paid for at a much higher clip than it is stolen. I didn't see where she came from but apparently, judging from both incidents, she is also a line monitor of some sort. Literally policing people as they're checking out. I almost wanted to take all the food back but continued. I don't think she is even aware or cares how insulting and disrespectful this is to customers. That is not my local Giant food store. I only go there when shopping for my mom who lives on that side of town. Luckily my mom doesn't request to go to this store much anymore because of the prices and I am totally fine with it. I had these two incidents during my sparse visits. I can only imagine the treatment regular customers receive.

Best Party Catering in Town!…read more The Safeway at 415 14th Street SE in Washington, DC consistently delivers quality, and their catering is no exception. For a recent Father's Day party, I ordered fried chicken, habanero chicken, and baked chicken, and every item was hot, fresh, flavorful, and ready right on time. The food was a huge hit with my guests. What truly sets this location apart is the outstanding customer service. The manager, Marcus, goes above and beyond to create a welcoming experience. He is visible throughout the store, actively engaging with customers, checking on orders, and ensuring his team provides attentive and efficient service. His leadership is evident in how smoothly the store operates and how well the staff works together. This Safeway is known for being clean, well-stocked, and customer-focused, and my experience reflected all of those qualities. If you are planning a gathering and need reliable, delicious party food at a great value, I highly recommend giving this location a try. Marcus and his team make sure every order is handled with care.

Safeway offers 8 pieces of prepared chicken, either fried or roasted, on Mondays for $6.99…read more Therefore, one should be able to purchase a whole chicken in pieces: two breasts, two wings, two thighs, and two drumsticks at the sale price. Posted hours for this special run until 7 pm. I stopped in at 6:05 pm last Monday and found that they only had thighs and wings. I was told that if I wanted more than two wings, I would be charged extra for reasons which were not clear. Eight pieces is eight pieces. If they are out of some of those pieces, one would expect to be able to substitute pieces they have for pieces which are sold out. I believe that the chicken cooking staff wanted to be able to begin their clean up processes early, so they could go home, and therefore refused to cook more, even though there was close to an hour before the end of the advertised special price. This seems very clearly to be a bait and switch situation, to put it kindly. I don't think it was store policy to stop preparing chicken early. I attribute it to lazy, uncaring staff. If they don't want to do their jobs an cook chicken, they should seek employment elsewhere. In the future, if I find them to be out of any of the chicken pieces, I will request a raincheck, so that I may come in at another time, on another day, at my convenience to buy the chicken that I, as a consumer, protected by law am entitled to.
