I love Dr. Tiffany Lu! I've needed glasses since I was in 4th grade..so I've been to the eye doctor quite a few times. I was over due for glasses and booked an appointment here through insurance. Being new to Sacramento, I got a little confused finding the place but Tiffany gave directions when we called. She was super sweet about us being a few minutes late too. Had my vision test and when we got to the eye drop part I told Tiffany I was sensitive. So she offered to put the drops in the corner of my eyes and let me "blink" them in. Awesome. This funny method was a lot easier for me. Also, Tiffany recommended a pair that covered more of my face to get rid of my bad habit of looking over my tiny/librarian-themed glasses. This worked out perfectly-I really like my new frames and I'm pretty picky. I had looked at Costco but didn't like anything. My glasses were ready sooner then I expected and I got a call when they arrived. I'll be going back soon to get a new pair or prescription sunglasses :) Oh P.S. Just updating to report that I still love it here at Capitol Optometry. Since they opened, they have gotten even better. They have more staff so things run even smoother than before. They are honest and won't try to push anything on you. They also seem to have a better selection now than they did before, so I always find something I like. PRO TIP - If you are asian or don't have a very strong nose bridge, ask about adding nose pieces to plastic frames. Plastic frames aren't designed for asian faces, but just adding nose bridges to the frames makes a world of difference. They fit SO much better with them and the optician Bruce can do it pretty easily. When I get my glasses back, you really can't tell that they were added after the fact -- it looks like they were made that way. Don't worry about the frames looking funny with nose pieces, they are barely noticable and the way the frames will sit on your face will have them looking 10x better, so the trade off is worth it. Its life changing and you will wonder how you ever lived life before with plastic frames without nose pieces. read more

This used to be Adair Optometry, but both my husband and I continued on as patients when Dr. Lu took over the practice. Dr. Lu is informative, low-key, and funny. I really, really like her just as a person, but she's also a great optometrist. For a small office, they have an excellent selection of frames at every price point and the inventory never gets stale. Bruce, the office manager, is very mindful of insurance benefits and I never feel pressured to purchase glasses that are outside of my budget. At my last appointment, I couldn't decide between two pairs of frames, so Dr. Lu took pictures of me in each and then emailed them to me. I looked ridiculous in one pair, which made my choice easy! read more

I randomly selected Dr. Lu from my benefits book about a year ago and went for my first exam and I have been nothing but impressed. I have very hard to fit contact lenses and she worked with me to help me find the most comfortable pair, which believe me is no easy task. In the past I had optometrists get frustrated and make me feel like I was such a problem because my lenses are so hard to fit, but not Dr. Lu she took on the challenge with a smile on her face and never made me feel like I was a problem. I just went in again for my yearly this week and was reminded how great the entire office staff is and Dr. Lu so I figured I should Yelp. Having been a glasses wearer for over 25 years I think I have a decent amount of experience when it comes to what makes a good optometrist and Dr. Lu is just that. She is nice, friendly, funny and very well educated. You can tell she knows what she is talking about and you can also tell she loves her job. The best way to describe this office is it is like one of those small town doctor offices where everyone remembers you, yet it is in the heart of downtown. This place is a gem so if you're looking for a new optometrist look no further. She takes VSP for all you state workers and she is a short walk from most of the big state buildings. This is my third year with Capitol Optometry and I'm still amazed by the friendly and efficient service that they provide--whether it's during scheduling, finding glasses, or reviewing my insurance benefits. It's the little details that make them exceptional; they've given me extra contacts samples to try, shades when I've just had my pupils dilated, etc. They have adorable frames and will order different colors or patterns. Although their selection is on the smaller side, it's constantly changing (and pretty trendy). I see people drop in just to try on glasses and the staff is always accommodating. After finding Capitol Optometry on Yelp, I decided to give them a call because their reviews are outstanding, and I can tell you that is no accident! Dr. Lu and her staff are incredibly welcoming. They're very professional, and talked me through every step of the exam - which I appreciated since it was my first time being seen by her. I'm not a regular patient here but I had a situation where I needed to get contacts on short notice. Capitol Optometry was the closest optometry to where I was located. One of the contacts I was wearing fell out and got lost somewhere and I was unable to make the trip back home to replace it. I called Capitol Optometry and they basically went out of their way to help me. If this is how they treat people who aren't even their patients, then I think that just shows how excellent their service is! If they were closer to home, I'd definitely consider having them as my regular optometrist. read more

Capitol Optometry is a trustworthy and great place to stop by. The staff is very friendly and the doctors really care about your well being! I thought that the $70 lens fitting fee was not worth it but I was impressed that the doctor gave me multiple contacts to try on and at least two check up appointments. I also got a prescription for dry eyes due to allergies and I was very appreciative for this extra step. One negative would be the limited choices in frames. Now with websites like Warby Parker its hard to compare frame selections to small optometrists like Capitol Optometry. Tip: Make sure to park in the public parking garage one block over on 11th st. This was the best experience I have ever had at an optometrist! From the moment I walked in until I left, the staff was friendly and welcoming. I appreciated how the doctor took the time to explain the tests and the results in detail. I also enjoyed being given options for add-on services, without pressure to upgrade. Finally, Yoyo's help in picking out the perfect set of frames was the highlight of my visit. He struck the perfect balance between letting me browse independently, and providing input when I was having difficulty narrowing down my selections. Great customer service from beginning to end! I was in search of a new optometrist and came across this on yelp. Making an appointment was easy, and the staff are really friendly. I really liked how there were no long waits and they didn't over book patients. I have had a negative experience with my past optometrist where I've been in the office for 2-3 hours since they overbooked patients. I saw Dr. Park and he was great. Very thorough and patient with explaining the answers to my questions. Kim and Yoyo were also wonderful in helping me select glasses. Neither of them were pushy, and gave me honest feedback about how the glasses looked on me, in addition to what style would work best with my high prescription. Dr. Lu and her staff are knowledgeable, decent, hip folks who listen to concerns and try to find the best contact lens/glasses fit for your LIFESTYLE and budget, not just your prescription. I have never had an optometrist take such interest in helping me be satisfied every day with my eyewear. I cannot recommend highly enough. The office also carries an incredible selection of frames ranging from reasonably priced to much higher than that, but what is astounding is that the quality of even the least expensive frames does not suffer. Love my new glasses! I've bounced around from different eye doctors but think I found a place to stay. Was looking for a new eye doctor closer to my house and found Capitol optometry. I felt comfortable as soon as I walked in and was greeted by the ladies in the front. I barely had to wait before seeing Dr. Moos and she was great. I've been having some trouble working on the computer and she changed my prescription and it's work really well now! I go here, my friends now go here, and I've referred many of my coworkers here. Capitol Optometry is conveniently located downtown on 12th Street between J and K. Dr. Tiffany Lu is very friendly and does a thorough job to make sure you get the best product to match your tastes and needs. I usually have a pretty tough time finding glasses since I only get a new pair about once every six years. But, after spending time with Dr. Lu, I was more aware of the popular styles of glasses and which pairs would be a good fit for me. I was also impressed with the many options they have with contacts. I had no idea there were small, dissolveable plugs you can use to help get rid of dry eyes. The office staff are also very friendly. They greet you as soon as you walk in, even if they are really busy, and they just make you feel like family. Then, you get the standard optometry tests like that video game one where you have to press the button when you see a flash of light, and that 3d book test where you pick you the picture with the 3d circle. Then you have the option of dilating your eyes so they can do more checks on your eyes, which i recommend, just make sure you grab some of those temporary sunglasses before you leave because it will be BRIGHT outside! They also do the checks where you see "which one is better? number 1 or number 2?" After everything was said and done, i received my transitions sunglasses in a couple of weeks and really enjoy them. I've also had a problem with my eyes aching after being in and out of the sun during the day but dont really like to bring sunglasses and glasses wherever i go. I've noticed my eyes feel much better when i get home now. So, if you work or live downtown, or if you just want a really good and genuine optometrist, then drop by and see these guys. They are good, will help you find what you need, and you'll finally be able to read those tiny letters on all those bulletins posted around your office! read more

Dr. Lu is the best. I've tried other optometrists, but she is truly excellent. Super friendly, patient, very informative, and makes your trip to the eye doctor pleasant and painless. Her staff makes the overall experience better than anywhere else. They are kind and receptive to what you are saying. I've been to other offices where they didn't even understand what I meant when I said my glasses were crooked and I need them adjusted--the doctor would have to come out to do it! Her staff KNOWS exactly what they're doing. They're skilled and actually seem to enjoy what they do and seem to care about the patients. Great office, and it's always fun to come back. read more

I love this place so much I wanted to update my review. All the staff here are super friendly and make you feel like you're their only customer. I have allergies and they mainly tend to affect my eyes, and they've seen me a couple times for that (in 2013, I managed to first get regular pink eye from the kids I nannied and then allergic pink eye immediately after). My eyes started bothering me this month again so they said they could squeeze me in between appointments to quickly check me out. They ended up having an opening though so I was seen for a full eye exam. The exam is super easy and not uncomfortable, and Dr. Lu could see that my eyes were pretty inflamed from allergies (pretty cool, since my eyes don't look red at all) when she put in some weird eye drops. She gave me lots of helpful tips and prescribed some stronger eye drops. Then I got dilated and she said she's never seen someone get dilated so fast ha! Those dilation drops are weird, I could feel my eyes changing and fortunately they had some flimsy sunglasses I could take because I forgot my own. SO bright outside. Bruce helped me pick out a new pair of glasses since my insurance was letting me get three (!) new pairs. They also gave me samples of daily contact lenses since with my allergies I've had a hard time dealing with my monthly ones, and told me how many boxes I could order if I wanted my insurance to cover it all. Great office and helpful staff! I had never had an eye exam before but since things had been getting fuzzy for a while, I decided I needed to see an optometrist. I picked Capitol Optometry based on all of the rave reviews from Yelpers and I'm so glad I did. The eye exam was easy, Dr. Pak did a fantastic job at putting eye drops in my eyes, and I got a huge discount on my glasses (with the help of VSP insurance). I had my appointment on Monday and I got a text to pick up my glasses today, Thursday. Super fast turnaround! They also give you a $5.00 parking discount card for all of the Sac City parking garages in the area (park at the one on 11th and I St). Definitely will be back for all of my eye care in the future! read more

I recently had my annual eye exam with Dr. Lu. She made me feel very comforable and she talked me through all of the tests being performed. As a newbe to wearing glasses, I didn't know what to expect with the process. Dr. Lu was so gracious and really took the time to listen to my concerns. It was really easy to get an appointment that fit my schedule and I did not have to wait at all when I showed up in the office. From the reviews, I thought this Optometrist would be worth calling and scheduling an appointment with, even though it happens to be quite a drive from me. I called with intentions to discuss with the Doctor some of the depth perception tests and correction options she had available before I set up an appointment. I was told that I would be called back by Dr. Lu, and after hours of waiting I was very rudely told that I was not allowed to talk to the Doctor (although I was previously told that I was). Here you can expect to be treated poorly and have even normal requests ignored. If you are like me and wish to know what to expect before you shovel out a huge co-pay and a waste-of-time drive, please avoid this establishment. Until the entire staff is replaced, you can expect me never to do, "business" with them. I place business in quotations because people like this treat you like a number rather than a patient.
