"Better than new"…read more I had a fantastic experience with Luggage & Leather Depot on the good ol' Hamden Road. I was dashing out to a meeting a week or so ago. Grabbed the trusty messenger bag con laptop, and bang! - strap broke, and everything spilled onto the floor. I collected everything, checked to see what had happened, and proceeded to be late to my meeting. When I arrived back home, the first thing I did was try to locate a leather repair shop, and the depot was at the top of the list, and less than a mile from me. I called, and the gent said that they would likely be able to fix it, so I took a walk over, and dropped off the bag. In less than 3 days, Mr. Kim called to inform me that he'd completed the repair. Again, I walked over to retrieve my Mark & Graham bag for a grand total of $38. Not only did I just save a few hundred dollars by not having to buy a new bag, but the repair was as advertised - "better than new" - with new leather, and an added metal bar for strength. I can't recommend this business highly enough. I'm looking forward to my next interaction - think I'll buy something new there next time. See you in town!

Mr. Kim restored my suitcase to "better than new" as he likes to say…read more After a 2-week long trip across Southeast Asia, my brand new luggage took a beating. Broken zippers. Popped stitches. It was definitely in need of repair. Mr. Kim was able to get the repairs done in a little over a week and the repair work was so seamless that I could barely tell what had been fixed. The only telltale sign is that he added a new, stronger zipper to replace the broken one which actually made it much easier for me to open and close the interior compartment. The $45 I spent in repairs was a worthwhile investment to ensure I would have many more years of adventures to come with my fabulous ruby red suitcase!

If you have some of their pieces, this is an affordable option to increase your inventory. No military discounts are offered but they did have some in store promotions displayed throughout the store. The store was clean, well lighted and organized. Sometimes you can enter a store and if not organized, make you want to leave. Just me? Monogramming is available in store and can be done while you wait. If not, you can walk about and continue shopping and return to pick up your purchases. It seemed to be a 15 minute wait and there are a variety of fonts and colors to choose from, up to 3-4 letters on certain items. They even have fragrances! The samples on display have fragrance only or you can opt for a gift set. normally stores have gift sets around the holidays but things were well stocked. From wallets, umbrellas, luggage and purses, this location had quality selections. These items are at a higher price point but the warranty and level of service that go along with the Tumi name are top notch. I definitely plan to return and peruse their inventory. I would recommend to friends and frequent here. The customer service was fantastic and Jimmy did an outstanding job helping me select garment bags and educating me on the features.

However, I want to flag a pricing issue for others. Before bringing in the items, I called and was quoted approximately $7-$10 per pair. At drop-off, the pricing presented was $22-$30 per pair. I raised the discrepancy immediately, but was told the prior quote was incorrect and no adjustment or accommodation was offered. I proceeded given the number of items already in hand, but followed up again afterward and was not able to reach a resolution. If you plan to use this shop, I would strongly recommend confirming pricing in writing before proceeding, particularly for multiple items. Sharing this so others can make informed decisions.

He and the woman behind the counter were trading news. Finally, they acknowledged me, took a very quick look at what I wanted done, said it would cost $200+, and indicated it likely wasn't worth me paying to have it fixed since it would cost the same as a new suitcase. I needed a complete wheel replacement and asked about them fixing the collapsible handle that had started getting stuck. The cost for just the handle, oh my! I really appreciate that they didn't waste more than five minutes of my time. I didn't feel like they wanted any of my business though.
