Won't be returning to this shop. Went in looking for a bra to wear the next evening. Asked to be measured. Woman told me I measured two band sizes larger than what i typically wore. She told me the brand runs small so I figured she knew best. When I wore it the next evening the hooks were on the tightest option and by half way through the event the bra was half way up my chest. Misery. Took the bra back to the store. The same two grumpy looking ladies were sitting up front. They looked at the receipt and then had the same woman who mismeasured me, measure me again. Of course she told me how many years she had been doing this and surprise, she came up with the same measurement. I told her again, it obviously did not fit if a new bra is on the tightest hook and still rides up. They had the bra band altered but of course now the cup is not right. What a $90 disaster. Never an apology for the inconvenience. I will steer everyone away from this place. read more

I never know how I will be treated when I shop here. I now go to Bra La La in Columbia, MD area, or order online at HerRoom.com. My initial visit years ago was wonderful...the seamstress was excellent and very nice/personable. As the years progress the staff and owners are not so nice, especially during the pandemic when I put on weight and needed all new bras. For convenience sake I put up with the ill treatment and bought a couple of bras. The sizing was off and I had to go back for alterations. Sadly, they have no clue that their insulting manner and poor customer service is driving customers away. That was my last and final visit! read more

I came in one day just to see what size they cater to you, and was told they do carry most sizes. Well the next day I brought my vow renewal dress with me to find a corset or strapless bra. I had an AMAZING experience a few weeks ago. I was immediately greeted when I walked in and escorted to the fitting room. The saleswoman (I'm so sorry I forgot her name) was very knowledgeable and I didn't feel uncomfortable at all during the entire fitting and trying on of different bras. I recently lost 30 lbs, but I couldn't really see the difference. I had a feeling I was wearing the wrong bra size, so I googled speciality bra stores in my area. I found this gem and I couldn't be more pleased. I went. I'm really sad that I have to update this review. I went in today to get measured and purchase a new bra. The lady that greeted me wasn't friendly at all. This was around 2pm. I asked if could be measured and she immediately told me it would be $25. It was odd she assumed I didn't plan on purchasing anything. This experience was the complete opposite of my first experience. She was extremely patronizing when I asked about a specific brand. She then strangely questioned if I've actually been to the store before. I've spent hundreds of dollars in this store! It was the oddest thing!! She then made a comment that I looked really young. I didn't see it as a compliment. Interestingly enough, I was dressed very casual today. The last time I came, I had on work clothes. Business professional some may say. She assumed since I looked young and broke that I wasn't about to drop bread to have my __ standing at attention. Again, I'm disappointed. I'm really not sure what the hype is about this store. If you have never had a proper bra fitting then I understand. Walked around and looked at some items, no one spoke. Found the size I was looking for but the prices are ridiculous. Add to that they have the sea of beige, black and white bras, with a few patterns sprinkled in. I for one refuse to be limited to matronly looking bras because I have a large chest. There were a lot of America branded bras like Wacaol. Any large busted woman knows that after a certain size European is the way to go. I had high expectations for this place. I will stick to where I normally go. read more

I was a customer of this store and go there occasionally to buy bras. Every time I went there staff is a bunch of old angry women . They have terrible attitude. Like they doing you a favor to help you find a bra. Last time they sold me wrong size bra. When I went back to return bra a week later with tags attached and receipt they yelled at me that they can't believe I am returning this bra after they measured me for it . Only store credit I got. I purchased something in there before for specific occasion when I was pressed for time. Both times I've been in I felt like the salespeople were all over you to the point of being obnoxious. When buying intimate apparel it's nice to have assistance but a little bit of space and privacy makes it the enjoyable experience it should be. When I walked in, I was greeted. However, when I asked about getting measured, the sales clerk responded, "We measure with the intent of a purchase." This comment rubbed me the wrong way. Like, how do you know I wasn't going to purchase. I've done my research and knew what I was wanting to purchase. The sales clerk's positioning could have been better. When I expressed to her I was turned off, she did apologize but the damage was done. Her positioning has much opportunity for improvement. I do have a large chest, so availability was limited. If you're looking for something with more flare, try your luck online. I will just order items online going forward at other stores. I love Bare Necessities! They have plenty of bra sizes, lingerie, underwear, and are happy to help you. They are REALLY helpful and professional and don't make you feel weird or bad about your body. I strongly recommend going during their annual sale when things are much less expensive, but note that they will be much busier. Note to other customers: There are plusses and cons to going to a small, intimate lingerie store. The plus is that you don't have to wonder around trying to find a sales person. The con is that there are not 300 dressing rooms. If you want to go to BN during their busiest time (annual sale), you will not be able to try to on 50 bras at the drop of a hat. I went into Bare Necessities today after work looking for a long line strapless bra for this wedding on Saturday. The customer service that I received was phenomenal! I was very comfortable with getting measured and fitted and discovered that my width on my band went down 2 inches which made me smile! Although I've been here and other speciality bra places before I was asked each time if it was ok for them to position my Breast properly in the bra. I was even offered to come back with my dress and bra to make sure things fit perfectly and that the bra is not showing for the wedding! I spent WAY LESS than what I anticipated but know that the purchase will be a good investment for me as I have another wedding in March. If you live in the area stop by and see my ladies at Bare Necessities as your Breast are in good hands! I called ahead to see if this place does fittings and was told yes and you don't need an appointment. So, I went over to the store and when I went in no one was up front. Store smelled like a toilet over flowed. Stood at the front counter for several minutes until finally a middle aged woman with lots of make up on greeted me and acted like I interrupted her. For a moment I thought I was in the grocery store as I began asking about being measured and she rolled her lip up at me and looked at me like I was asking for a donation. She continued to look at me with such disgust, literally looking me up and down. Not once offering to assist or help me and then as if she pulled the number out of thin air she proceeds to tell me if she "measures me and no bra is bought there's a measurement fee" I said that's ridiculous what's that fee? And she said "$25.00" and I asked why that was not told to me on the phone and she replied "did you ask?" She was so rude to me, felt just like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman when they stared at her and would not wait on her. It upset me so much I called back and asked for the owner. After several minutes asking she admits she is the owner, her name is Mindy, and she was the one in the store that was so rude. I told her how she made me feel did not care what she had to say and hung up on her. It's hard enough being a woman in this world and I find it appalling that I, as a woman, have to pay to have my breasts measured. No girl power there. But where I had girl power was taking my ass out of that store and standing up for how I felt. From all these reviews I see I don't stand alone either. These women are sad, hopeless hags that "think" they are worth far more than they are or ever will be. Only the powerful women rule the world, sorry guess you'll just have to dress your little Barbie dolls up with bras in the back. I've been going through a lot and this was by far the rudest anyone has ever been. I took myself over to Soma in Towson Town Center and Gabrielle was so professional along with her dedicated staff and she fit me and gave me $10.00 off for just getting fit and I spent several dollars on some great bras. The worst customer service ever. The staff is arrogant and not customer friendly. I called in advance to inquire about a getting a custom item. At no point did they tell me that the seamstress would not be there. Although the seamstress was not there, measurements were taken and I was promised my item would be ready that Thursday. When I called on Thursday I was told that the seamstress' husband was ill and she was not able to get to my item. I voiced my concern and they were rude as I reminded that I was promised the item by a certain date. The manager implied that I was not being empathetic to the seamstress situation, but I explained that this was business and I need my item. They never offered to make things right in any way, not even a discount. Bottom line Necessary Secrets is not the kind of place I want to shop. read more

When I first discovered it online I was excited to have a store nearby that carried lingerie for those of us who are more well endowed. My first visit was good with a salesperson who helped in finding the right bras for me. I did find it curious that during the time I was there the salesperson made some comments running down Intimacy stores. Upon leaving I felt comfortable with my new purchases. Several days later when I was pulling out my purchases I found that one of the bras sold to me was a selection that when I was in the store did not fit and I had NOT wanted. I had cut the plastic tag holder off before I realized it. As soon as I could (6 days after purchase) I went back to the store to return it and get a refund. That's when the awful experience began. I was treated very suspiciously and rudely even after I explained several times it was a bra I had not wanted from the beginning. Several times the salesperson lectured me on the legal issues involved in returning underwear. Instead of apologizing for an error I did not make I was made to feel repeatedly as if I was in the wrong. Finally the return was credited to my credit card but I left with a very bad taste in my mouth. I'd warn everyone to make sure you double check everything before you walk out of the store. Personally I won't ever go back again. Sorry you lost a potential good customer today folks!!!! read more

I cannot believe this store has such a following and was even rated as Best of in Baltimore magazine. If I could give it NO stars I would. I have never been treated more poorly or with more disrespect. The owner, in addition to the employees (except one young girl who I'm not sure why she is working in such a horrible environment) do not care about you as a customer, nor help you. Two times ago I went into the store to purchase a night gown for my grandmother who has since passed away and was sick. I told the employee of my flight plans and asked if it would be ok if she didn't like it I could still return it even though it would be after the store's return policy of 7 days. The night gown was over $100 and the employee said she understood the situation and would be happy to take it back. A week and a day later, I arrived first thing in the morning to only be able to receive store credit with the SAME employee not caring what she had said the previous week and the owner just picking at her nails and pointing to the 7 day return policy sign. Moreover, upon returning to somehow spend the store credit, upon asking for help in being sized and recommended a specific bra, I was not only shooed to go look at a rack of bras but was told to just "pick one I liked and try it on" I will never return to this store and have advised all of my friends to stay away. They are completely unprofessional and I cannot believe they have a clientele. Instead I go to Lingerie Lingerie in Kenilworth - they are PHENOMENAL, take time to fit you and care about you, professional, courteous and are nice as can be. read more

The women here have always been extremely helpful and pleasant to me. I used to frequent Lingerie Lingerie, but was always disappointed by the cold and unhelpful nature of the employees, not to mention the rather slim selection of bras. Bare Necessities is the ONLY place I will now go to buy a bra. Each and every time I have visited the store I have been measured and fitted, and had great one-on-one experiences with the employees. If you are fitted with a nearly-perfect bra, the women at Bare Necessities will hand alter said bra so that it fits you perfectly (case in point: I found an almost-fitting bra that had straps which were just a tad too long; the straps were shortened to fit me exactly and the bra was ready to be picked up the very next day.) I've gone there to pick out everyday bras as well as to buy foundation garments for a special occasions, and no matter what I was looking for I left quite happy with both my purchases and with the attention I received from the women who work there. In response to the previous reviewer who says that she was told by an employee to just "pick one and try it on," I can say that I have never been treated in such a way at Bare Necessities, and I cannot imagine anyone else being treated that way; the employees at this store much prefer to personally fit bras to their customers. I always have the best experience when shopping at Bare Necessities. I shopped here for a bra to wear for my wedding and they even altered the bra so it wouldn't show in my low-back wedding dress. I had to go back a couple of times for a few nips and tucks on the bra as my dress was being altered. In the end, it was perfect! After years of buying over-priced and ill fitting bras from Victoria's Secret, Bare Necessities was a breath of fresh air! First i was measured, then the sales women helping me disappeared into the store and came back to the dressing room with an assortment of bras. She stayed with me as I tried them on and helped me find the perfect one. Although I didn't need the service, I was impressed to find out that they offer custom tailoring on bras and underwear. I absolutely adore this place. I walked in last week looking for some new bras because my bras no longer fit me. I had no idea what size I was anymore. I usually have a really difficult time buying bras in general, so I was really stuck. I had even started using some online bra buying services like True&Co but I still was not being sent the right size bra. I was immediately helped by the owner, who measured me in a dressing room and brought me three Wacoal bras, all within my budget and all three fit perfectly. She showed me some fancier bras as well but took the time to ask me what my bra budget was because she didn't want to pull a really expensive bra that I would love but couldn't afford. I really appreciated this. I was in and out of there in 15 minutes, with three perfect fitting bras, and I couldn't be happier. Highly recommend. The staff is attentive and kind. And so what if they are a little pushy to get you to buy their bras? They are providing you with a useful service. Besides, everyone needs bras. I went to this location because it was recommended to me by my family. When I got there the lady immediately measured me and pulled bras. I found 3 that I really liked. Since I am getting married in the fall, I asked her if I could create an account, or start a registry she said they don't do either. I asked her if I could take the information down as my mother wanted to purchase me a set for my wedding day and she said no and took all the bras out of my fitting room before I could even say or do anything. She also mentioned twice that she would waive my fitting fee even though it was never mentioned to me but said it as if she was doing me a favor. Honestly, she only measured my band size and not even my cup size. This appointment went totally south when I was not going to buy the garments right then and there and the lady made me feel like I was no longer wanted in the store. I did not feel comfortable browsing anything else once I had all my bras ripped out my fitting room and put away. I went for a more personal experience and this boutique does not offer it.
