I went to several bridal boutiques, but my experience at Garnish was 100% the best. When I walked in, I just had that magical feeling that I would find my dress here - and indeed I did! I am, historically, a very indecisive person. I came in after appointments at other salons and was feeling confused about what I really wanted. Garnish's systematic process helped me figure out what I actually envisioned. What to expect: when you arrive, you wait outside and are asked to wash your hands before entering. This made me nervous that the salon would be very uptight/snooty. However, this was not the case. Mia greeted us warmly and I noticed that all the dresses were in such pristine condition-- maybe bc of the hand-washing. You start by exploring all the options, organized logically by style/sleeve/amount of detail, etc. and choosing 10-15 to try on. Then, based on what you like/don't like, Mia will choose other options. Mia would often direct me as to which dress I should try on next -- for example, I tried on a fitted dress, so she'd advise me to try on a ballgown next to compare. This made a huge difference in discerning what style I actually liked and helped the process feel less overwhelming. She even would give direction on how to stand or which mirror to look at to get the full effect of the dress - I loved this attention to detail. In terms of the collection... I truly loved every single dress here - it definitely fit within the style I wanted (elegant, modern, unique). Every gown I tried on felt special and I was often surprised they weren't more expensive given the high-fashion feel. But what really stood out was the amount of space and time Mia allowed us. First - I was the only bride. My mom and I had the whole place to ourselves to fully explore, gab, and discuss. Second, Mia often would go to the back, leaving privacy for us to honestly discuss dresses without feeling pressured to like something. When I had narrowed down to two dresses, Mia again went to the back and gave me space to call my dad/brother/aunt to get their opinions and share in the moment with them. The appointment was only for an hour - but we ended up being there for close to 2.5 -3 hours. And never did I feel that Mia was tired of us. As someone who will spend hours making a pros/cons list between two choices, the patience Mia gave me to pro/con every detail... I do not know if I would have ever chosen a dress without that. Visited this bridal boutique to do a first look at a few dresses. Making an appointment was very easy over the phone, with email reminders and confirmation leading up to the day of my appointment. The decor is simple beautiful! It feels cozy and also very chic. Covid procedures were in place with hand washing and gloves provided. They are limiting guest to 2 ppl in addition to the bride, which seems fair. Mia, also the owner, explained everything wonderfully. She was also very personable and knowledgeable in her field. She displayed extreme patience as I tried on several dresses--this was a first look and I was not 100% sure of the style I wanted. So I did end up finding my dress here, but I will keep this review very objective. Pros: Really beautiful store, well organized with very good selection. There's something here for everyone from a price point and style perspective. I felt that the owner Mia did a really good job of only showing me styles within my budget. Very much appreciated this and she had some great recs. The dress I ultimately chose was one she pulled for me based on what I was leaning towards. COVID protocol: Gave me gloves when I was picking out dresses. We had to wash our hands before entering, masks on the entire time but no temp check. It's not super crowded and I think they have 2 appointments at a time max. Cons: If get Mia as your stylist don't expect warm and fuzzies. She's very direct and efficient and not there to flatter you just to make the sale (which is fine, but I didn't feel like I was treated like a potential customer). Given that I don't live in MD and my wedding is far into the future I didn't feel like Mia took my purchasing intention seriously. I did not appreciate not being pushed into buying, but didn't feel overwhelmingly catered to either. Best bridal boutique! One of my friends purchased her wedding dress from Garnish and highly recommended a visit. I had an incredibly positive experience that was completely personalized. The boutique has a huge selection of dresses of all different styles and price points. Mia listened to me, guided me, and offered professional and creative direction. I can't recommend Garnish Boutique enough! Primarily, it was beyond evident that they took the COVID-19 restrictions very seriously, ensuring we wash our hands before entering and all staff wearing masks. It made my feel very confident that the store was taking its best measures to ensure the safety of their guests. Secondly, Mia was great! She pulled every dress that had my one desire and was very patient with me as I went back and forth between two dresses. She gave my mom, Maid of Honor, and I space as we decided upon MY dress! Garnish is the type of bridal shop that you dream about! I just started my wedding dress search and knew this would my first stop (guilty instagram stalker, gasp!). I emailed Mia, the owner and scheduled an appointment. My consultant, Tessa greeted me and gave me the lay of the land. The shop is nicely laid out and the natural lighting is amazing. There were just enough dresses for the experience to not to be overwhelming. I picked out about four dresses and then Tessa selected a few more that she thought would fit my style. Even though my appointment was for only for an hour, Tessa assured me she didn't have any more appointments that day and we could continue the hunt if necessary. While this boutique has beautiful gowns, every last thing is rushed. The day I picked my gown, I was rushed to make a decision on a dress so my room could be cleaned out and prepared for the next group. I then decided to buy the dress and was rushed into the office where a small beverage was poured and then we were left so the woman could help someone else. No celebration factor or anything. I thought picking up my gown today would be different since now I had invested money and lots of travel into this particular boutique but instead my appointment ended in tears. I emailed prior to this 30 minute try on appointment to say I would really like to try on veils while in the gown. When I got there, I was told to make myself at home just to be told five minutes later my bags were in the way of the group coming in and got them thrown into my room. I was put into my dress and then forgotten about. It took about half way through my appointment for someone to bring me a veil then I was left again. When I was ready to try on another one, nobody was able to be bothered. I was brought something I specifically said I did not want and was left again. The only time I was given any attention is when I was nearly "out of time" and was found in tears. Long story short, if you want a special experience and to be treated like a person and not just a wallet, find a different boutique. Overall I am highly disappointed and they need to not book so many things at once so even the slightest bit of attention can go to the bride making a HUGE decision. I gave a 2 simply because the gown selection makes up slightly for the lack of customer service. Hi ladies. I don't typically write reviews, but wanted my experience to be known in the hopes this helps any of you in your wedding planning process. I see a lot of great reviews, which I'm surprised about. I've now been to 5 different boutiques and this was my least favorite. Don't get me wrong, the dresses were beautiful, but it was the service that rubbed me the wrong way. We walked in and they immediately stopped us and had us turn around to wash our hands. I get there are germs out there, but to my mother and I, it made us feel like they thought we were dirty. Not the most pleasant first impression. In addition, they charge $50 for an appointment, and this is for every appointment even to re-try on dresses to possibly buy THE dress. They didn't offer us any water or drinks whereas K&B bridal doesn't charge anything and they surprising offered us wine. Garnish was short with us and curt and it wasn't the warm and welcoming vibe that I'd expect for such an important time in my life. Ultimately, all of these factors have deterred me from coming back, therefore, I'll have to take my business elsewhere. I do recommend K&B Bridal (many locations) and Edel's in Havre De Grace. They treated me right from the start and I had a lovely and calming experience at both. read more

As someone with bigger hips and a hard-to-fit hourglass shape, I've been putting off wedding dress shopping with dread. The second I walked into Garnish, I felt at home. I was not personally helped by Mia, but she made sure to poke her head in and give encouraging words. My associate, Katie, was amazing. She recognized my style just 2-3 dresses in, scrapped suggestions and made new ones based on what I said I liked and disliked about the dresses. I ended up finding my dream dress! Also-COVID note-the store is big enough that you aren't interacting with anyone outside of your guests and associate. You have to wear gloves to touch the dresses and everyone is masked. Horrible experience!!! This is a cute boutique but (a) they cater to tiny girls, (b) the associates are super young and inexperienced, (c) the rooms lack privacy, and (d) the owner is snobby and bitchy. A) Something that they should advertise on their website is that almost all of their dresses are a bridal 6. This means that their dresses fit girls who wear a real life sizes 2 - 4. WTF?! The vast majority of women are dress 6 - 10. I'm a size 8 and NONE of the dresses fit me. And I'm not saying that they didn't fit me properly or even that they didn't zip all the way. I'm saying they didn't go over my hips. That's insane! B) I pulled some gowns that I liked but when none of them fit me, they associate started pulling dresses. Despite knowing that I HATE lace, she began pulling lace dresses, purely based on size. When trying on the gowns, I basically had to figure out how to put them on myself. She was a sweet girl but my mom and I did her job for her. C) Part of the reason why she couldn't help me was because the fitting room was make-shift AF and she had to hold the curtain closed during the fittings. The curtain was not as wide as the doorway. And since they don't provide robes or anything to cover your self with, I wasn't confortable with anyone seeing me in my bra and underwear. Hope your not shy if you choose this place. D) Lastly, the owner is snobby and bitchy. At one point I had resorted to trying on a lace dress even though I HATE LACE. Well, the dress was the only one that fit me so just for that my spirits were slightly lifted. The associate was excited too (I guess she hoped she just may be getting a commission after all. She called out for the owner to show her the dress on me. When she didn't hear a response she called out again and the owner clapped back at her and said, "Yea. I heard you. Give me a minute! " She finally came over, stood at the entrance of the fitting room, said "Yea. That's your shape.", and left. WOW! After that, I just called it quits with that store. Even if I had fit and loved a dress, I wouldn't have purchased it from there because the owner left such a bad taste in my mouth. She is unwelcoming and standoffish. Oh, did I mention this was my FIRST time trying on wedding dresses?! Yup. What a disappointment. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone with a butt or over a size 4. Good luck ladies! read more

Totally DISSATIFIED with the customer service received by Garnish Boutique!!! After the dress was returned to the designer for being mis-made originally by 3 sizes and instead of cutting a new dress, it was tapered modestly, damage to the pockets were made, and it was still 2 sizes too big per the design specs noted on their website. My confidence in them correcting their error a 3rd time and having it back in time for the wedding was slim and none!! The dress still required MASSIVE alterations to fit per the design specs which another designer graciously made. This lack of accountability to help pay for an ADMITTED ERROR in the design work has cost me $1000 over & above the exuberant price paid in full at time of purchase. read more

My experience with Mia and Garnish Boutique was nothing short of amazing. I actually already had a wedding gown and was shopping around for bridesmaid dresses when I came to Garnish. A couple of my bridesmaids, who live in the DC area, tried on a beautiful dress at another boutique in Bethesda, but I didn't really appreciate the pressure from the saleswoman and the price was a bit steep for some of my bridesmaids. I came to Garnish so that my bridesmaids in the Baltimore area could try on the same dress. Not only was Mia way more relaxed and down-to-earth than the Bethesda lady, but she offered an amazing group discount! As my bridesmaids were trying on different gowns, I started to browse through the sample wedding gowns in the store. There was a bag that was all zipped up and I got curious as to what was inside. BEHOLD! A beautiful wedding gown that I was DYING to try on! I tried it on and I fell in love with it as my bridesmaids were behind me ooooh-ing and aaaaah-ing. Mia did not pressure me to make any purchases that day, but she did tell me that there would be an even larger discount on the bridesmaid dresses AND the wedding gown if we did decide to purchase them all. I went home and slept on it for about a month before I decided to purchase ANOTHER wedding gown and Mia remembered me and was super cool about everything. In fact, there was a Jim Hjelm/Tara Keely trunk show and I was able to add buttons down the back of my gown for an extremely discounted price. I fell in love with the designer Anna Campbell and drove down from Philly to find "the dress." Well not only did I find the dress, I also found the Veil, Earrings and most attentive, wonderful and thoughtful staff you could imagine. My experience at Garnish Boutique was absolutely a dream come true!!! This was actually my very first wedding dress fitting EVER and I walked out on cloud nine. There was plenty of parking at the building - both in front and back. *Note- the store sign is on the front of the building but you have to walk to the side and up the stairs to get to the store entrance. My bridesmaids and I were greeted right away by the store owner Mia. She showed us to a beautifully decorated room with a comfy couch and table to put down our coats and bags. Mia then showed us each section of the store which was organized by designer and dress style which made it SO easy to look through! She even showed us that the tags had the prices clearly marked so that I would easily be able to stay in budget. I had no idea what I was really looking for when I came in but Katie (our dress consultant) made the experience the best I could ask for! Katie made me feel so comfortable with getting in and out of dresses and never rushed me. She was really so sweet and respectful! She laughed along with my bridesmaids and would listen to their advice while also making sure that I was really happy with what I was wearing. I thought I wanted a more fitted dress but Katie suggested I try on a Blue Willow by Ann Barge dress that was in a ballgown style. I was hesitant at first but as soon as I tried it on and walked out of the fitting room- a hush came over everyone followed by loud squeals of delight! This was the one!! The dress even had a gorgeous long veil that came with it and both the dress and veil were 50% off because they were on the sample sale rack! I was blown away by the fact that even though my bridesmaids pressured me to buy the dress, Mia and Katie did not once pressure me to make a decision right away. In fact, they urged me to put the dress on hold and consult my fiance and mother regarding the finances first. I was so thankful for that! I highly recommend Garnish Boutique. I had my first appointment on March 5 for an elopement on August 2. Those who know wedding dress shopping know this is already cutting the timing a bit close. Mia was able to check shipping dates while I was in the store so I knew what would arrive in time. I fell in love with the Anna Kara Primrose. The dressing room was private, spacious, and clean. There was plenty of natural light in the main area where I was looking at the dresses in the mirror. My friends and I were allowed to take photos of the dresses (some places aren't okay with this!) and it was so helpful being able to reference these when I had to make a decision. The Anna Kara factory had delayed production due to a number of covid infections and this delayed my dress shipment. Mia was all over it and kept me apprised of dress updates, shipping, etc. She was always very reassuring and kind while I was stressing about the timing of everything. She communicated directly with the seamstress to make sure alterations were done expeditiously due to the delayed shipment. I came right back after my other appointment and she quickly got all the paperwork together for my dress. Garnish is gorgeous. There's a huge pedestal and mirror, with a nice viewing areas for your friends and/or family. The light is lovely. This is the place to go if you want the beautiful bridal boutique experience you see on TV and in the movies. It's a small shop, but carefully curated. Interestingly enough, nothing is white. It's all ivory, cream, ecru, eggshell, vanilla, what have you..but not white WHITE. I never found out why. You can order many of the dresses in white though. You do not have to "pick through" dresses here and they are not hidden in those huge plastic bags. Everything is out for you to see and the options are really beautiful. I was not here to try on a bridal gown, but rather bridesmaids dresses, so my experience will differ from most of the reviewers. Mia did not really work with us, but rather left us to our own devices and was not incredibly helpful, but when pressed, would weigh in. In the end, it seemed as if Mia didn't care very much about the sale. I can understand if she's more focused on the brides and not bridesmaids, but she did not return calls or e-mails when trying to make appointments. Although I didn't buy my wedding dress here, I had a great time shopping at Garnish. I had communicated with Mia prior to my appointment because I was interested in a few specific Tara Keely dresses, and she was very easy to work with via email. She let me know exactly which ones were in stock and gave me the option to have the others borrowed directly from the designer. During my appointment, I was the only shopper in the boutique and Mia and her assistant were so sweet to me! They gave me their honest opinions about dresses and picked out a few things that I would never have thought to try on before. They also took pictures of me and never made me feel awkward because I came alone (unlike some places!). My grandmother had found a review of Garnish in the Sun paper and sent it to me, and I just happened to notice on their website they were having a Jim Hjelm trunk show this weekend, so we went to check it out. The owner, Mia, is super-friendly, incredibly knowledgable about the dresses, low pressure, and was just great to work with. I've been to several boutiques where the harried salespeople just don't really seem to care, so this place was a welcome change. The boutique is small (upstairs in the Ruxton shopping center) but elegant, and the service just makes it wonderful. She had THE dress I wanted, but I ended up falling even more in love with a sample dress she had on display, and I got a fabulous deal on it because it's being discontinued. If I could give 10 stars, I would. The boutique was bright and sunny and staff was welcoming. The dresses were organized and easy to go through (other salons I went to had the dresses so crammed onto the racks that you couldn't really see it without pulling each one down). I went on a day that they were having a trunk show so I know it was a hectic day for them but it didn't show at all. Katie was so easy to work with and had me buttoned up in the dresses in a flash. She offered great suggestions of accessories but wasn't pushy and listened to the feedback from myself and my bridesmaids. I went to Garnish last weekend and had a fantastic experience! Maggie was my consultant and she made me feel so comfortable! I literally cried on my way over because I had bad anxiety about trying on dresses but Maggie was so helpful and really kept my calm and made it a fun experience! I went to Garnish for a specific dress line. I made an appointment but when I arrived I felt like I was a bother to the staff. They didn't ask me what I was looking for, didn't want any details about me big day, made no attempt to make me feel special. They did have pretty dresses that were nice quality but I was rushed in and out of each gown. They didn't bother to accessorize or answer any of my questions having to do with alterations for a specific area of the dress that wasn't pleasing to me. The sad part is I really liked one of the dresses but had an issue with the cups in the dress. I also would have loved to see it with a bling accessories but felt so uncomfortable I just wanted to leave. It really doesn't matter because I would never buy a dress from Garnish anyway. Came here for my first bridal dress shopping experience, I wasn't sure what to expect. The boutique is very pretty and all employees were very helpful. You can go through the racks and pick up whatever you want to try on. Their selection is very nice and their prices are good. I found some dresses I may come back to but for now I want to keep looking. I would have given this place 5 stars but I showed up on time and had to wait 10mins for the consultant to be done with the previous appointment which cut my appointment short. Also I wished she would have given me her input and pulled dresses for me. read more

Great selection of gowns, and everything is current. I came in with my MOH and two bridesmaids by appointment. Mia was not the consultant who I worked with, but she was the first to give me a friendly greeting. She was fluent in fabrics, textures, colors, and everything of the kind. My appointment was not exactly what I had hoped it would be. The consultant that I did end up working with made a few comments here and there that were somewhat off-putting. She made a comment about a dress not doing anything for my body and then also made a remark about my girlfriends. I kept quiet because I thought maybe I was being a little sensitive, but after reflecting on it see that it was inappropriate. Warm and genuine were not vibes I was getting from her, I felt like I was under a microscope. Full disclosure: I had no idea what I was looking for or what I wanted. I tried everything on and kept picking it all apart. I think the fact of the matter is that I needed a consultant to give me a little confidence, take the wheel a bit, and show me styles that could help me narrow it down. It wasn't like I walked in without having ever looked at Pinterest, but looking at social media is a lot different than actually trying on gowns. I think if I had Mia as my consultant I probably would have ended up finding something. read more

Update* The shop did not appreciate my honest review of my experience and called the bride about their concerns. This is so beyond unprofessional that I cannot wrap my head around it. My review in no way should affect the bride, and this definitely does not call for upsetting the bride a month before the wedding. I will say that my friend (the bride) had nothing but fantastic things to say about the service that Mia and her team offered while she was looking for, and eventually bought, a wedding gown. This is why she decided to continue working with them while ordering bridesmaid dresses for the big day. I found out that I was pregnant right around the time that my friend put in the order for all of the dresses and then the shop was on a three week "vacation" with no access to email or phone (evidently they did not have access to phone prior to vacation either because none of my calls were returned). In the meantime, I realized that I would need a few sizes larger so I reached out to the shop and asked if it would be possible to size-up. After two weeks, I finally got an unprofessional response stating that I would not be able to change the size because it was too late after the order was put in. Unfortunately, had they not taken a month off with no availability for their customers I would have had the chance to change the size. In addition, they have a no refund policy because the dresses are "handmade in China" and "made-to-order." Long story short, you can buy the same Amsale dresses from Nordstrom's website and not go through the hassle that they may or may not put you through. I wouldn't recommend going here if you're looking for any flexibility at all. read more
