I had excellent experiences with all of the staff, but especially want to shout out Mallory who was my consultant when I purchased my dress, and Alexa and Rachel who helped me during my alterations appointments. The whole team is knowledgable, encouraging, accommodating, and friendly. Betsy Robinson's selection of dresses is also amazing and I was able to find my dream dress on my very first appointment. Their in-house alterations were convenient and affordable (I was quoted way less than I expected based on friends' experiences at other stores) and they were able to fix a small issue with a customization I had added to my dress making it completely unnoticeable on the day of. My experience at Besty Robinson's was truly unmatchable. I originally received a pamphlet at the Bridal Wedding Expo at the Baltimore Convention Center. Both ladies were phenomenal and welcoming during this interaction; very down to earth. The front page had this gorgeous dress that was #1 on my Pinterest board; my literal dream dress. Now although this dress was highly outside of my budget, my sister still booked me an appointment (thank goodness!). During my appointment I was showered with so much reassurance, positivity, and kindness throughout the entire visit. Taylor was so AMAZING! She did not judge me for coming in with a binder of images of dresses I found online that I liked (I was about to leave my binder in the car lol), but instead she was so encouraging and impressed. Absolutely no judgement, which I truly appreciated. I felt like a princess/queen in every dress that I tried on, and Taylor was so supportive and matched my excitement for every single dress. She was very attentive to my preferences, needs, and wants. She was very polite and worked off of my comfortability in the dressing room. The energy from not only Taylor, but the owner and other staff was truly immaculate. I can not rave enough. I came with my mother, and 2 sisters and they were all attended to as well and made to feel comfortable. The whole facility was very tidy, and honestly felt like a ballroom. I felt that setup was private and intimate while still open. Final dress was on a sale for ONLY $1,000 but original cost was around $2,500. DEAL! My younger sister got engaged about a year and we visited three different bridal shops in one day. Betsy Robinson's was the last and best experience. Not only was our attendant knowledgeable and helpful, but so much fun! I'm blanking on her name, but she was a joy to work with. Fast forward to this year and my sister has since gone for two other appointments. Once when her dress arrived and then one fitting (with another scheduled for two weeks out). Both times we've been helped by the owner. When her dress arrived Betsy herself helped her try it on again and find the perfect veil. Then this past weekend we learned the shop had changed hands over to Mallory - who I also learned is my neighbor! Mallory too was such a joy to work with. You won't find bargain bin dresses here, but you will find exquisite fashions for every size and dream, along with a knowledgeable, passionate staff who wants nothing more than to help you make your wedding dreams come true. My visit to Betsy Robinson's Bridal was definitely a low point for me while wedding planning. I came in in March, about 6 months out from my wedding, due to delays involving major family health issues that could have resulted in the postponement of the wedding. My family and I knew this was late to be shopping for a gown, so throughout the try-on process, we would ask the consultant what the likely delivery time would be for a certain gown to make sure that it was a possibility. From the beginning of the appointment, though, she kept repeating to us, "well, you did this to yourself" - which honestly was hurtful and felt careless given the circumstances. It took us disclosing the context of the health issues to get her to stop saying this verbatim over and over, but at that point, it didn't really make a difference. I also noticed when I got home that evening that I had scratches all over my back and arms from pins used on the sample gowns. The other consultants and front desk staff seemed fine, but I'm glad I didn't end up liking the dresses I tried on here, so that I didn't have to go back. I decided on a whim to go and try on dresses. I did not make an appointment, I just walked in very hopeful and flexible. Harriet greeted me and let me know that they could fit me in and sure enough within 5 minutes I was picking out gowns to try on. I had no idea what I wanted so Harriet helped me pick out a variety and got me started! (Spoiler Alert) The first dress I tried on was the one!!! Even still Harriet and Mallory made sure I tried on all different styles and silhouettes to make sure that this was in fact the one. The only thing my dress was missing was straps and the amazing Mallory (who is the store owner) remembered that the dress came in a second style with small straps! I was sold!! She even tried out different veil styles on me and we landed on a beautiful flower crown. I cannot express how thankful I am for Harriet and Mallory. Their amazing energy and support is the reason I left today with a huge to-do on my list checked off! I definitely recommend this shop! When I came here I was specifically interested in ordering a custom Pronovias wedding gown. They weren't able to do this as they only carried the designer very rarely which has since chanced. Ultimately I went elsewhere but I still had a lovely personalized experience here compared to several other boutiques I visited. So much so I felt the need to write a review after seeing recent reviews. If they have designers you're interested in it's definitely worth a trip even if it's a bit out of the way. As a bride to be the consultation was top notch. The complaints seem to come from the entourage and/or bridesmaids. AKA those who weren't even the bride in the first place. To me, that's a major distinction. And a very important one. They're not the ones trying on and buying the wedding gown. They're sitting there as an observer and writing a review which isn't fair. If you're actually a bride to be ignore the haters. The selection and quality of service are amongst the best in the area. If you're interested in any designers ahead of time mention this as you schedule your consultation. While I wanted my custom Pronovias, I was still interested in trying on other designers here. At this point I was over my entourage being all "put this on!!!! Try this!!!" My consultant was phenomenal at handling this situation. She had a great rhythm going and had me aside in the room. Whenever I was all "ooh hell no absolutely not" she had my back. She was straight up and to the point dodging frivolous suggestions like a pro. Went here shopping with the bride. Beautiful dresses but also extremely expensive. All of the dresses were at least $2,700 it seemed. The space was very crowded and cramped. As my friend was trying on her dress, standing on her pedestal, looking at herself in the dresses in the mirror, and I was trying to take pictures for her to show her family and other bridesmaids, all the staff and other brides kept walking back and forth. We had to keep moving out of the way and then adjusting her train. The space is not set up for each bride to have their own area to look at their dresses with their family and friends. All of the areas for brides were in the paths for high traffic. It was a bit insane given only 4 brides were there for their scheduled time. Trying on and buying your wedding dress, especially at these prices, should have a nicer area for brides to look at their dresses in front of a mirror or on a runway or pedestal. read more

I had an absolutely amazing experience here with Mallory as my stylist! The scheduling process was easy, even when I needed to move it due to a scheduling conflict with my maid of honor. When I arrived, I was warmly welcomed and taken back to my consultation quickly. My stylist made sure to thoroughly discuss my wants and desires, showed me which racks would fit my budget and style preferences, and picked some gorgeous options! The entire appointment was efficient but not rushed, guided but not persuasive, within my budget but never cheap/low quality (every dress here is stunning). The have a store wide "clearance" sale in late November every year. I found out about it through sheer luck but found a great designer dress at a ridiculously low price. Check their website regularly in November for details- it usually runs 3-4 days. I went on Sunday and stood in line with others for about 30 minutes before the store opened. What I liked is that they only let in a few groups at a time so the place was never mobbed. The selection of wedding dresses was very good for a sale experience. (ie- they do not display non-sale items during the clearance days. this is about final sale wedding dresses only). The consultant was helpful but extremely pushy with all the upsells and add-ons. She defintely tried to convince me of her opinions without letting me decide for myself. That said, I couldn't be more thrilled with the Amsale dress (which I otherwise would never have been able to afford). Also FYI- this place is not in Baltimore proper. It's in a suburb off of the highway in a small strip-mall esque building. read more

I went to your bridal shop Over the weekend, was not at all impressed with the "customer service" and i can barely call it that. I tried a very nice dress that was very lovely on me . Little did I know it was wayyyy out of my Price range ( goes to show the staff doesn't seem to care about YOUR wants and budget profile you fill out doesn't apply). I fell in love with it but it just didn't feel right purchasing from you. I didn't feel giving commission to someone who was barely helpful was a good decision. My Mom and three bridesmaid who attended picked out 10 of the 12 dresses ourselves( lazy consulting in my opinion). The other 2 were by consultant and were way over my said budget, which was done on purpose. I didn't purchase the dress that day as I wanted to sleep on it and gather my thoughts. I was told your shop price matches ( which seems to be on a per consultant discretion, and will only be honored if the consultant " feels like it!") Maybe my bridesmaids and I would have been a little more impressed if the consultant actually seemed to want to do her job and make my dress buying experience special. It was obvious we were the last appointment because the shop was closing as I was still getting dressed. My mother even pulled me aside and made a comment about it. Absolutely distasteful. If you don't enjoy your job as a wedding dress salesperson then get a new job. To make a long story short, found the same exact dress from a highly reviewed boutique for a little less and the buying experience has been AMAZING with the new shop I chose. I will lastly say, maybe your staff should do their research on who the brides are marrying and leave the profiling for special media, and not rudely staring my Older mother with a health condition who wasn't able to scoot along as fast. The consultants are the perfect blend of professional, authentic and fun. Bridal shopping with my sister I can say this was the worst experience. I can say when we first walked in great customer service, after that it went down hill. The front desk receptionist were great. The sales consultant horrible. She was very pushy, and made us feel very uncomfortable. First she sat us in one area, told us to get up come over to another area. My sister did not like the gowns, she would get an attitude because she did not like them. This is the thing that upset us. My sister is a curvy bride not a size 2, she kept mentioning size. Kept saying to us because she not size 2-6, she not going have good selection, and would also have hard time finding a dress. In the end, she made it clear how she felt about us. She did not place my niece's gown in a garment bag --she placed it in a pink plastic bag. I went in to this appointment KNOWING I would NOT FIND MY DRESS. This was my second dress appointment and my mom and I were purely coming to see some of their "everything" and if there was a designer I liked, come back when they were having a trunk show for said designer. My sister purchased her wedding dress here a few months back, and I knew they had an epic selection. My wedding is well over a year away and I went in purely on a "this is giving me ideas of what I liked" and I knew I had a dress to beat from an appointment a week before. I worked with Ashley and I ADORED her. She was so straight forward- asked me pointed questions to see my style, wanted to see what I had pinned on Pinterest, and asked for photos of "the dress to beat". I was pretty particular and also all over, and she immediately pointed me in the right direction. She was brutally honest on dresses I held up with her thoughts on them - pointing me away from dresses she knew I would dislike for various reasons, and was patient as I tried on about 20 dresses, describing things I wanted that the shop just plain old didn't have. I was getting tired and had one dress left - a completely crystal covered Enaura gown. Before the dress was even over my head, my mom burst in to tears, a sign this dress was likely "the one". Let me remind you - I came in to this appointment thinking there was NO WAY IN HELL I was buying a dress. I bought a dress. I LOVE THE DRESS. My mom had an earth shattering reaction to the dress. I NEEDED this dress. Needless to say, said dress has been purchased and will arrive in about 6 months. A brief rave on Enaura- never heard of this brand. NEVER. And I'm kind of a bride-zilla when it comes to the dress. These dresses are SO COOL - so much detail, so beautiful, so much beading - and NOT SUPER HEAVY!!!!! Ashley, you are amazing. I love my dress. You made me LAUGH, you made me less stressed out, you made me feel beautiful and I FOUND MY DRESS. I'm giving this place two stars. The extra star is for their wide selection of designer gowns as well as an impressive selection of sample gowns. However, I could tell the people were shocked when I walked in. It could have been because I look much younger than I am but I am going to guess its was because I am black. They were unfriendly, not helpful, and just completed the appointment to get me out of the store. Once my appointment was finished, my sales person, Kelly, left the room and I did not see her again. No one said goodbye have a nice day or anything. I asked what were the two dresses I had liked and the receptionist wouldn't tell me. She just said it had been written down. If you don't care about service then definitely come here because the dresses are gorgeous. If you service is important when you're dropping thousands, this is not the place. While I wouldn't say that I hated every second of being at Betsy Robinson's bridal, the experience was not all that far from it. The second-story establishment opened to a gorgeous, fancy foyer and a cozy dressing room area with private mirrored rooms. Impressed, I was prepared to really like this place. However, it was not the physique or atmosphere that troubled me. Instead, it was the salesperson who left a negative impression by acting like she knew what I should want better than anyone else. Betsy Robinson's selection tends to be heavy on the spectrum of formal ballgown styles and light on the breezy beach-appropriate selections. As such, after Mom and I took a quick lap through the moderate (smallish) selection of dresses, we decided that few would fit the bill and wanted to wrap up our appointment. This wasn't met with enthusiasm so we let the local expert lead the way through her store's collection. After I politely described my general vision for the dress the lady pointed out a few styles, which I indicated would not work but tried on anyway just to point out what fit and what about the gown didn't. Although I dutifully tried all of these, we soon exhausted all plausible options. Our salesperson had the nerve to say that we would obviously be back in a while--implying that their collection is so extensive and perfect for everyone--and that, with her years of experience and what she has heard, I would have a hard time finding a dress. (She wasn't rude about it just on the snobby side.) Ummm...yeah...thanks but no thanks. read more

The bridal boutique is very beautiful. It's open and spacious and feels luxurious and private. However, make sure to book an appointment for when less people will be there. When we first arrived there was only one other bride which was great but towards the end of our appointment they had so many brides and bridal parties it was too crazy. You could barely move, it was loud and you couldn't get any dresses. The receptionist has an attitude and wasn't very welcoming. She didn't even acknowledge our presence when walked in. We just sat down and waited for her to tell us what to do. First impression was bad. The consultant was dressed professionally but we quickly discovered she was not very knowledgable. During our entire appointment she didn't recommend a single gown, couldn't tell us anything about the gowns or if they had anything similar. She also had no idea if any alterations could be done so she kept saying no alterations were possible. Which let's face it, can always be done. She never asked any questions like what do you like or not like about this gown. Which any good consultant will ask you in order to determine what dresses not to show you and which ones she thinks you will like. The one positive about this though was that the bridal suites were very large. It had enough room for the bridal party to sit in and also nice large mirrors so that if you didn't want to leave the room the bride could stay in there and look at the dress in her own suite. The one negative is that every time the bride had to get dressed the entire guests had to be quicker out of the room. There was no where for us to sit so we were standing which wasn't a big deal when it was empty but when the crowds started to arrive we were in everyones way. The other negative about this experience was that we specifically drove from Northern Virginia to Baltimore (about an hour drive) just to see a Lian Carlo dress. This was the only boutique in the near by area that carried this dress my sister (the bride) fell in love with. When we got there they told us that the dress was not in the store since they had taken it to a bridal show for that day. This was annoying since we only came to try that dress on and specifically requested to try on that dress. Our consultant also had poor taste and didn't know how to match anything. When we asked for accessories or veils she brought us ugly veils and accessories that didn't even match the dress the bride was wearing. When I went to look for myself to bring my sister something nicer I realized that it wasn't the consultants fault it's just the entire store carries ugly accessories and veils. Most of their items are plain and simple and look cheap. We had the same experience with the dresses. Though they had three rooms for dresses they had nothing impressive. All the dresses looked the same so there was little choices to try on. One room had dresses of 2k and over, another had 2k and under and the final room had sample sale dresses. We couldn't tell the difference between the expensive dresses and the cheaper ones. Not only was their selection small, but they had all the same look. After trying on only three dresses we were ready to leave. I don't think we will be going back to this place. If you are looking for plain dresses that every woman in America will buy, this is the place for you. And if you do settle for buying a dress here you are overpaying for the simple dresses and ugly fabrics. read more

Even though I live in NYC and will likely buy a gown here I took my MIL and cousin here to try on dresses and get some opinions. I was thrilled to find a Claire Pettibone Dress that they just happened to have a sample of to be able to try on. They had a failry poor selection of Reem Acra which was a bit disappointing. They also did not have any new 2013 gowns in stock yet, which many NYC boutiques already have. My appt was late in the day on a Sunday & to even get the appt I had to give them my credit card in advance In case I was a no-show- a little surprising as this is posh Kleinfeld behavior. The store itself was nice, & the dresses range from 900 to 8000, from what I could tell. Most of their inventory seems geared toward the under 3k market. That being said at the end of the day I felt a little rushed by my consultant, and maybe she figured out that I was unlikely to return given I don't live in Baltimore, and there was nothing that I tried on that I could not order locally, once I make up my mind! I can't argue with that, but I stil expect better customer service. read more

My consultant showed me all of the options available from the designer the bride selected and was very patient with me while I tried each one on. I was impressed by the selection that was offered, especially since the store is small in square footage. The store is clean, all of the employees I encountered were very friendly, helpful, and professional. My consultant also showed me their collection of Thomas Knoll jewelry, and I found a cute, affordable set of earrings to pair with my dress. Overall, the whole thing couldn't have been easier. I went here yesterday to try on wedding dresses, specifically to view the Martiana Liana trunk show, so the experience is fresh in my mind. I had a 10am appointment on a Saturday and the salon was serene at first, but it gradually descended into chaos. Dress racks everywhere, people showing off dresses to their bridal parties in the middle of the salon, and I kept getting interrupted so dresses could be pulled out of my room. It was not the dress shopping experience I hoped for. I would not recommend my consultant, Vera. She was so concentrated on making a sale and I felt like she was rushing me the entire time. At the beginning we went to the Martina Liana dresses so I could see them, and I had only looked at them for literally a minute before she said we needed to move on and dragged me away! To her credit, the first dress I tried on was pretty and fit well, but I knew it wasn't *the* dress. For the next 1.5 hours she kept pushing that dress even when I told her I wasn't interested in buying it. The rest of the dresses she picked out for me were not exactly what I was looking for and then when I was able to go look at the dresses on the floor, I kept feeling rushed by her. The majority of the dresses were bridal 10-12 (street size 6-8), but I was able to try a few on that fit me ( am a street size 14) which was nice. Another nice thing was that they allow pictures, which some places don't. I might go back there just because they had a large selection of dresses, but I would ask for a different consultant and I would not go on a weekend. read more

Pros: - big selection with a wide range of prices - the place is clean and well lit Cons: - BUYER BEWARE: i was told alterations were only going to be $400-500 when I purchased my dress. On each visit (with a total three visits) they were charging $500 for alterations which was soon going to make the alterations MORE EXPENSIVE THAN THE DRESS! Make sure to agree on a max price up front otherwise you are at their mercy. When I brought this issue up at the front desk, they told me there was nothing that could be done and if I wanted more alterations there is no cap. One word, extortion. You're stuck after you've bought the dress. AGREE ON THE ALTERATIONS CHARGE UP FRONT. - one of the ladies working at the front desk (Shannaqua or something like that) is VERY rude and condescending. For example, I wanted my dress to be packed and she repeatedly told me this was not possible despite the fact that this was agree upon previously. It was only when I asked to speak to the manager that the manager told me it was okay to pack my dress at a later time. read more

This is an update on my previous review because I am no longer the bridesmaid and finally the bride! Just bought my bridal gown at Betsy Robinson and couldn't be happier! I ended up spending almost double what I'd had in mind, but that was not my consultant's faulty at all (it was my mom's!) My consultant, Ashley, actually tried her best to keep me on track and was mindful of my budget. She has a great eye. Sometimes she would pull something off the rack and in my head I would think no! but then I'd put it out and it would actually flatter me really well. I also appreciated her laid back and humorous demeanor. If you are going to be naked in front of someone for the better part of the day, they've got to be cool about it. At one point she was trying to squeeze me into a dress and we made full ass-to-face contact and she just rolled with it and acted like it happened all the time. Maybe it does, but I felt bad for her nonetheless. When I was having issues visualizing how my train would look, she got a seamstress, who was in another appointment, to come over and show me how it would done and explain how it would be made. Throughout three appointments where I thought I'd never find "the one" she kept her spirits up and was always kind, yet honest and knowledgable, too. Shoutout to consultant Meghan!!! (And not just because of the name) I She was helpful, quick, not pushy, and a great listener. I was really nervous about dress shopping for my wedding gown but Meghan was so great to work with. I initially was made even more nervous by the fact that when I arrived at the salon, a woman was already in tears standing at the front desk because of a problem and then everyone else who had arrived for the same appt time had been called back before me. My expectations were low to say the least. But Meghan listened to what I wanted, involved me in the process, worked quickly to change things I didn't like about dresses (added belts, boleros, veils, etc.) and didn't push anything on me I wasn't comfortable with. The whole thing was painless and I found my dress in an hour! Note: Unfortunately, no discounts are given for paying for the dress in full. There was no negotiating room at all. read more

Horrid. Absolutely horrid. I called TWICE to ensure the dress was in the store, and one was an hour before my appointment. I SPECIFICALLY requested that dress by designer name. They ensured me, twice, the dress was in stock. We drove 2 hours to the store. I even took my whole family. We start my appointment and they tell me another girl has it on and we will get it after. 20 minutes go by, and the girl hosting my appointment tells me that the dress has been sold and I can't try to on.... it was the ONLY dress we came out to try. The manager was HORRIBLE. she did nothing but make excuses and try to ttell me that it was partially my fault !!!! She was FULL of excuses and no solutions!!!!!!! They didn't have anything to offer me and were fakely apoligetic. I've worked in retail for year and never had someone be so nonchalant about their mistake. Do not give these people a chance. I've been here a few different times over the years for friends and family members who have and are getting married. A great variety of dresses, better than other bridal shops I've visited. It's in a shopping center on Reisterstown Road, not too far from 695. It's upstairs from a spa and jewelry store. The layout of the store is clean. When you walk in there is a little lounge area and a desk/counter with greeters/attendants there to assist you. There has always been someone available to greet and attend to my needs which is nice. It is hard finding businesses that have customer service. They have definitely always provided the best service. Some are better than others, calling in and face to face. As I said, they have a great variety of bridal dresses, veils, jewels, bridesmaid dresses, and all things bridal. I recently (this summer) visited for my first bridesmaid experience and Danielle is the Sales Consultant for that area. She is great. Just polite, sweet, and attentive. Very helpful and friendly. She is a joy to work with. I tried on a few dresses, the bride selected one, I was measured and the dress was ordered all within an hour. There was no delays, no stress just an enjoyable appointment. When I called a few days ago to see if my dress arrived there was some confusion with my order or the attendant answering the phone; because the bride ordered her dress in another establishment they had issues with the name the dress was ordered under. It took a few days to get clarification on if my dress arrived....which irritated me especially because I paid a rush fee to receive it in time. I picked up my dress without issue last week, tried it on and went on my way. Unfortunately because the bride did not order her dress here I could not get my bridesmaid dress altered there. Or maybe they don't alter bridesmaid dresses at all, I'm not really sure. They will provide local tailors in the area that can assist. read more

First of all, I'd like to say I can't believe some of these negative reviews I'm reading. This store blew me away, and honestly, saved my wedding day for me. I had previously bought another wedding dress at a different boutique. Long story short, I went through many rounds of alterations all the way up to the week before my wedding, but was never happy with what was done. I had to make the decision to keep it or try to find another one. After calling many other stores and trying on more dresses, I felt defeated and silly for even thinking I'd be able to find something so quickly. Until I called Betsy Robinson... On the phone, they welcomed me to come in with open arms. As soon as I got in the store, Rose, the sales woman, gave me hope. She kept me calm, she showed me dresses off the rack that were my size and budget, she spent considerable time with me assuring me that we would find the perfect one.. And we did!! That's when Betsy herself came over to review alterations and approved getting them done in 3 days!! I had two fittings and by Wednesday I was bringing home the dress of my dreams. They say everything happens for a reason, and I believe it did. I just want to thank Rose, Betsy, and the alterations team so much for their hope, help, empathy, and professionalism. If you're in need of a wedding dress, definitely visit this salon. read more

Betsy Robinson's Bridal is a beautiful store! Most of the staff is very attentive and polite. My consultant's name was Rose and she was not as friendly as I had hoped, but I think it was just her personality. I almost felt rushed but I think she was just trying to help me find the right dress. So if I didn't like a dress, she was quick to get me out of it and into another dress. This was my first dress appointment (ever!) so I expected the service to be like what I see on TV in Say Yes to the Dress. This really wasn't the case. I was able to pick every style of dress and didn't have to rely on my consultant to find the right dress. Also, they have the prices listed on all the gowns so you know if something is within your budget or not. They had a lot of options in my budget of $1500. I almost bought THE dress here but I found something I liked a little better at another store. Overall, my experience was ok. I still would recommend this store but I would recommend another consultant. read more

I have to give this place a 2 for alterations. I ended up having to go in 7 times, yes 7 to get it fitted properly. Even the day before my wedding they were still sewing it. On about the fifth time, they told me that it was because this dress was made for tall people and I'm too short for the torso?! That would have been helpful to know when I purchased it. Overall, it was a very stressful experience and I did not end up loving how my dress fit. There were wrinkles across the stomach area where it was pulling, which they assured me they would fix. I remember pointing that out when I first tried on the dress and they told me that was just due to the clips that were holding it tightly on. They have a great selection, so I'd recommend getting your dress here but get it altered somewhere else. read more
