This campground was nice, nothing fancy. We didn't spend a ton of time at the site as we were spending time with family. Site was level, quite a few trees but nothing in the way. Stayed in cabin 202 for a Fri - Sun and on our last morning we found a bed bug on our clothing. While they gave a refund it does not come close to cover the time and energy of remediating all of our clothing, sheets, and blankets. We also had to throw out items that could not be cleaned properly and now have to replace them (pillows, shoes, etc). My husband has 23 bites over the course of 2 nights. They burn and itch very badly. I truly hope this was a hiccup for them and they go through correct methods of having the cabin treated properly. UPDATE: A recount of the bites - my husband has 31 bites so far. The remediation of all of our items is exhausting. All the blankets, clothing, suit cases, all the other items we used in the cabin needs to be cleaned. We had to throw out our shoes because they shrunk in the dryer. Spent $$$ replacing shoes for a family for 4. Pillows are not cheap to replace either. I bought a new corset at the renfest this weekend that I'm hoping doesn't get ruined when it goes through the dryer. That too was expensive. So if you're looking to have to spend a bunch of extra money to replace items you didn't want to replace in the first place - I recommend staying here. read more

After we placed the negative review below, we have video recording evidence and believe that "Bob the Manager" vindictively damaged our RV by slashing the high pressure sewer hose inside our RV bay, causing hundreds of dollars of damage and creating a dangerous leak of sewer on the last night we stayed at the Capitol KOA Park. THE REVIEW: "This place is on our "never return" list. Firstly, the park is in the armpit of two freeways built at "old hog farm" - all this luxury for $100 per night. It is "conveniently located" only 1 hour typical drive from D.C. Oh, and can words describe how asinine, petty, and insulting the staff are? I was astonished, appalled, offended, and incredulous by our unexpected interactions with them. Kind of like the four seasons of emotions in a 30 minute period except without summer or spring. Logic and basic expectations of acceptable customer service are totally bereft. This is the park to make you grateful for all the other parks you will stay at. *** AVOID ***" The Evidence - draw your own conclusions: After my guests and I suffer horrible verbal abuse and absurd accusations from Bob the manager and his staff over a $14 guest parking pass (that we had no idea was required) we pay the $14 but ask for an apology. On video - At 10:13pm my video system records what looks like the manager's golf buggy drive to my RV. (Scoping it out?) On video - At 10:15pm the golf buggy drives back toward the office. On video - At 10:19pm a person with a flashlight walks from office direction to my RV. We are all watching a movie. At 10:20pm from my driver's chair I observe through a window someone that I immediately perceive to be Bob the manager outside my motorhome with a flashlight walking around it. At 11:15pm my wife tells me to empty the gray water tank as it is full. I go out and turn on the high pressure sewer pump. Gray water sprays everywhere from a gash that was stabbed into the high pressure with a knife inside the RV bay - strategically slashed to inflict maximum damage and contamination. My 13 year old daughter usually does this job. I get sprayed with gray water and inside bay is contaminated (See photo). Hmmm. Who would do such a thing and what would the motive be? I have little doubt it was "Bob, the slasher". Do you really want to send your family to a place with such a lunatic who would do such things? What a horrible, vindictive, psycho person! This is an excellent KOA Campground located in Millersville MD. You have lots of Historic Sites and Shops to visit, there's Annapolis to the east, Baltimore to the north, and Washington DC to the south. If you choose not to explore the area, you can just hang back at the campground that has plenty to do! Wooded and not Wooded sites are available, swimming pool, hiking trails, jump pillow, play ground, outdoor Chess Game and Pool table, Bike Rentals and much more. The maintenance and house keepers do a great job keeping the place clean and running well! The office workers at registration are awesome and the store is stocked and open late. If you're reading reviews and people mention anything about rude staff, that's the result of someone that was not happy because they were called out for breaking the rules and got advised of that. Great campground! This place has it all. Nature trails, adult chess, trampoline, views, showers. Very impressed by this facility. We were in an rv space. We had electricity, water, bbq, chairs, table, and a concrete patio. All the neighbors were cool and the staff was very friendly!! read more

I expected way more for the price. The customer service was AWFUL. Condescending and rude. If you want to sleep right next to a freeway this is the place to be! I will say that the staff that ride around and drop off wood to sites and check on things seem friendly enough but the service in the front office was horrible and the "manager" himself was disrespectful and arrogant. You would be better off checking out Patapsco or another local campground. The will extra charge you any chance they get. For example, I was told that two of my children (under the age of 5) don't need to be included on my reservation because they don't charge under the age of 5. Great. I have 4 kids, 2 over 5 and 2 under. Made my reservation and they charged me an additional $10 for the 2 over 5 (that were already included in my reservation) When I said those are the two included on my reservation.. they told me I was getting the 1 and 3 year old for "free" even though they don't charge for them. Then the manager proceeded to take money out of his pocket and say "here lady why don't you just take the money right out of my pocket" which I declined and told him it's not a matter of the money. It's a matter of principle. Completely rude and unnecessary and we won't be going back. You're better off to spend your money at any of the local State park camping sites where they have manners and better views! read more

My husband and I stayed here back in early June for two weeks. We were tent camping on a site with electricity and water. The campsite was smooth and in a good location, nestled between the trees. When it rained (and boy did it rain), we didn't get flooded which was nice. The bathrooms were cleaned regularly and the showers had good water pressure. The disk sink was clean as well. The pool and other outdoor amenities were a nice touch when I didn't feel like sitting in the tent or walking the designated trails. Quite a few harvestmen and mosquitos out, but that is to be expected when you're camping so just remember the bug spray. The price per night was very reasonable and the location was great for getting around and exploring. We would definitely camp here again. read more

I was here many years ago. If you love camping & planning on going to see the sites & taking the tour I would highly recommend this place. They have clean camping kabins & they are so nice. You can even bring you grill & do your own grilling outside. They have outlets in the kabins so you can listen to your radio. My scout troop recently spent a weekend at this site and left horribly disappointed. First, we were told to stay in meadow 2 which didn't show on any maps and no one was at the campsite in person nor did they answer the phone. In an earlier conversation we were told it's near the pavilion. The only unoccupied spots near the pavilion were not really suitable for camping so we set up near the pavilion. As we headed out Saturday morning we were told to make sure we didn't have anything in the pavilion as someone had it rented that afternoon. We returned at 9:30 to find a full party going on with loud music, beer, and a large bond fire within a few feet of our scout's tents. I have no issue with the party but why wouldn't the KOA let us know and move us? Clearly this is not a safe environment for 40 young scouts. So we chose not to stay and left late on Saturday night. When we finally got in touch with the manager, he blamed us for being in the wrong place how could we have known and why wouldn't they tell us? He even accused our scouts of stealing 5 bundles of wood, even though we didn't have the bond fire--maybe he could check with the guys having the party with the giant fire?! And he refused to refund any of our scouts money despite failing to provide the service we contracted for. There are multiple options for camping in Annapolis and I would recommend you look there first. This franchise seems to be run by absentee owners who have no interest in or understanding of customer service--absolutely horrible. read more

Sites are fairly uneven but nothing a few creatively placed bricks couldn't fix. Bathrooms and laundry facilities were both clean. Change machines available for laundry. Kids loved the bounce pillow, swimming pool, outdoor pool table, and outdoor movie. Camp store was fairly extensive. We'd stay there again. read more

Great time spent at this campground- friendly staff, space between sites, very clean and updated restrooms,showers and laundry facility. Many continuing upgrades going in process. Excellent location - 30 min from Washington D/C, 25 minutes from Annapolis and the Naval Academy, 20 minutes from Baltimore. Very easy to find and signage pointing the way. I wanted to say how much we enjoyed our stay at the campground in Millersville, MD and how much fun we had. We have stayed there many times. However, the last time we brought our camper in, we had some trouble parking it, because the people or their friends in site 10 (next site) had appropriated the site which we paid for and were shown to. The staff person requested nicely that the car be moved because we had arrived. All the people gave him a hard time, and were nasty about having to pay for their friends claiming they didn't see any of the multiple signs stating guests register at office. When I said they were nasty, I mean they not only ranted and raved at the KOA person but were yelling at us too, saying if we didn't like it we could leave. We tried to stay out of their way!! They also were saying they were going to get back at the KOA manager and staff. They said they were going to get a free site out of KOA. We have never had anything like this before but after our stay we decided to come back to this KOA later and had a great time like we usually do. The staff and management went out of their way to make everything so pleasant as they always do. The reason I am saying about the nasty next site's people is because I believe they are the same people who left a crazy review on YELP. Surprised YELP allows slanderous accusations to be leveled at a professional KOA manager. To be honest, the review shows a pettiness and crazy though process that borders on lunacy. I WILL again be returning to this KOA (in a couple of weeks) We all love the pool and kids love jumping pillow, even my husband jumped on it We love walking around the grounds and in the wooded areas. read more

What a shameful camp site. My daughters Girl Scout Troop has a contract to have the girls stay in a cabin for the weekend. It was paid for. There was a misunderstanding on some additional fees which every parent said that's no problem and was unaware. The worker freaked out, turned the lights out on the girls, told them to get out of the park and called the cops. How in the world to do you treat The Girl Scouts of America like this??? KOA should be ashamed of themselves. read more

We were holding our girls scout investiture ceremony. There was a miscommunication about entrance fees. The lady we had to deal with was not friendly from the moment I had arrived. She yelled in front of children aged 6-14 years old and turned the light off on a group of girls in the pavilion where we were holding the ceremony. It was dark out in the woods. She had them so scared and upset many guest were coming out of their campers to see why there were 21 girls screaming and crying. Then blocked our cars in and called the police. All of our girls have been traumatized by this matter. This could've been handled way different. We were forced to leave. Don't waste your time staying here. It is run by rude and immature adults. If I can even say she acted like an adult. My 8 year old doesn't even act like her. read more

One star is too high. Avoid all costs! My granddaughters girl scout troop had planned and paid for a weekend camping trip. There was a misunderstanding about visitors being charged. There was no attempt to discuss or rectify the situation by the campgrounds staff. Instead they came to the girl scout meeting at night and shut off the electricity during a ceremony and then told the 5 to 14 year old Girl Scouts in the girl scout troop to "get out of my park" They even CALLED THE POLICE ON A GIRL SCOUT TROOP. read more

The cabin we stayed in was nice, so no complaints there. The reason for my 1-star review is the racist behavior of one of the check-in staff. We rented the 8-person cabin for my wife's birthday, and paid for multiple parking passes for our guests. The majority of our group was white, and were given the parking passes we paid for as they shuffled in. Our Hispanic friend, however, was not even told there were available paid parking passes, despite being only 1 group arriving before him, and despite giving the staff our cabin number. When our Black friend tried to pay for a parking pass after the ones we'd paid for ran out, he was treated so horribly by the front desk staff that he not only refused to stay, but refused to speak on the matter any more. They also tried to charge him more for a parking pass than the rest of us had paid. None of the white folks among us had any issues. I will never return to this campsite again. read more
