This KOA is superb. * The locale is central to the DC-Metro area: Baltimore, Annapolis, the gateway to the Eastern Shore across the Bay Bridge, and is about a 40-minute drive to DC (depending upon the hour and traffic). * The campground setting and layout is excellent. A canopy of trees greets guests at the entrance off Cecil Drive and Hog Farm Road. The site is smack dab next to the 3/97 mixing roads. The campground is expansive. There's sufficient space between sites. In some cases contiguous sites are tiered from one another. On the far side and downhill areas of the property past the campsite store and registration areas, you'll find paved roads (as you will throughout much of the site) with curbs to pass rainwater around campsites to prevent erosion of those sites. Water, electric, and other services are flawless. All sites (that we saw) offer duel septic hookups for RV's. * Dump stations are easy to find and use. * Shower and bathroom houses are well lit, very clean, and well maintained. * The staff is helpful and efficient. All day long, every day, you'll see a staff member out and about somewhere on the camp grounds fixing, upgrading, installing, cleaning or helping out guests. This place is a marvel of efficiency. * Mini and full size cabins are available. * A compact but seemingly full-service campground store is in the registration building at the entrance. Stayed in cabin 202 for a Fri - Sun and on our last morning we found a bed bug on our clothing. While they gave a refund it does not come close to cover the time and energy of remediating all of our clothing, sheets, and blankets. We also had to throw out items that could not be cleaned properly and now have to replace them (pillows, shoes, etc). My husband has 23 bites over the course of 2 nights. They burn and itch very badly. I truly hope this was a hiccup for them and they go through correct methods of having the cabin treated properly. UPDATE: A recount of the bites - my husband has 31 bites so far. The remediation of all of our items is exhausting. All the blankets, clothing, suit cases, all the other items we used in the cabin needs to be cleaned. We had to throw out our shoes because they shrunk in the dryer. Spent $$$ replacing shoes for a family for 4. Pillows are not cheap to replace either. I bought a new corset at the renfest this weekend that I'm hoping doesn't get ruined when it goes through the dryer. That too was expensive. So if you're looking to have to spend a bunch of extra money to replace items you didn't want to replace in the first place - I recommend staying here. read more

Very nice KOA Holiday location, we have stayed at a few. We were lucky to get a spot arriving in the middle of a holiday weekend, but using their site reservation tool we were able to get a suitable spot near the bath house. The bath house was big and clean! This is important to us having a pop up camper. The only negative was they have 6 showers and one is only slightly wider than the others and has a Handicap sign on it. It would have been great if they built 5 showers and made one even bigger for mobility impaired people, but I managed. The staff was nice and the store well stocked at reasonable prices! They kept it really clean during the holiday weekend despite being packed! The last 2 days beginning the next week days was very pleasant and quiet. 50 minute drive into DC to tour on our own. 1. Customer Service not good: it felt like we were a bother during checkin. Asked if any events planned and she was like not sure. 2. It is right off thruway and you could hear all the cars. This is a great spot to camp, it has a lot of activities for kids like a pool (closed for covid) playground, bikes, chess, and a jump pad, scavenger hunt and outdoor movies. (No lake for fishing) I've been to a few KOAs and this is only the second that had the jump pad. (Obx KoA has one too) if you're looking for some time away to relax this place is settled nicely in Maryland with reasonable access to nearby stores, shops, DC of course and even better a drive in movie theater is about 40 min north of here. It makes for a great weekend getaway for the family or for you and your significant other. I've camped here three separate times, they offer late night check in, allow dogs, everyone is friendly, and due to the area prices are higher than other KoAs I've stayed at. The staff is awesome and does a great job at keeping social distancing in place. Over the fall they do two weekends of Halloween decoration and trick or treating. read more

DANGER - "Bob the Slasher"? Be sure to read this incredible update! After we placed the negative review below, we have video recording evidence and believe that "Bob the Manager" vindictively damaged our RV by slashing the high pressure sewer hose inside our RV bay, causing hundreds of dollars of damage and creating a dangerous leak of sewer on the last night we stayed at the Capitol KOA Park. THE REVIEW: "This place is on our "never return" list. Firstly, the park is in the armpit of two freeways built at "old hog farm" - all this luxury for $100 per night. It is "conveniently located" only 1 hour typical drive from D.C. Oh, and can words describe how asinine, petty, and insulting the staff are? I was astonished, appalled, offended, and incredulous by our unexpected interactions with them. Kind of like the four seasons of emotions in a 30 minute period except without summer or spring. Logic and basic expectations of acceptable customer service are totally bereft. This is the park to make you grateful for all the other parks you will stay at. *** AVOID ***" The Evidence - draw your own conclusions: After my guests and I suffer horrible verbal abuse and absurd accusations from Bob the manager and his staff over a $14 guest parking pass (that we had no idea was required) we pay the $14 but ask for an apology. On video - At 10:13pm my video system records what looks like the manager's golf buggy drive to my RV. (Scoping it out?) On video - At 10:15pm the golf buggy drives back toward the office. On video - At 10:19pm a person with a flashlight walks from office direction to my RV. We are all watching a movie. At 10:20pm from my driver's chair I observe through a window someone that I immediately perceive to be Bob the manager outside my motorhome with a flashlight walking around it. At 11:15pm my wife tells me to empty the gray water tank as it is full. I go out and turn on the high pressure sewer pump. Gray water sprays everywhere from a gash that was stabbed into the high pressure with a knife inside the RV bay - strategically slashed to inflict maximum damage and contamination. My 13 year old daughter usually does this job. I get sprayed with gray water and inside bay is contaminated (See photo). Hmmm. Who would do such a thing and what would the motive be? I have little doubt it was "Bob, the slasher". Do you really want to send your family to a place with such a lunatic who would do such things? What a horrible, vindictive, psycho person! We checked in late and they forgot to leave our paperwork out for us but I understand since it was late. The manager was extremely nice and courteous and came to the front at almost 1am and helped us. He took us to our cabin which was clean and cozy!! Definitely will be coming back in the summer when it's warmer. We needed somewhere to stay for the Chicken Wing Fest and this was not only close but adventurous!!!! I would give this place zero stars if I could. The management here is extremely rude, discriminatory, and unprofessional. I was given this address to meet a friend and I literally was parked in my car while a man on a golf cart came by and scoped out the car and left. Two seconds later he came back to the car and knocked on my window basically telling me to open it. I open my window and he says that I can't be there and that I need a parking pass and tells me how much it is. I told him that that is not a problem at all but I was just waiting on my friend to meet me there to make sure that I was at the right place. He proceeded to continuously harassed me while I am still PARKED IN MY VEHICLE. like dude just give me a second to get out and go get the pass I'm on the phone right now!!! The lady at the front desk was extremely sweet and just explain that it was the policy but I told her that I'm going to sit in my car for a second because I'm on the phone with my friend who was supposed to be meeting there. The man on the golf cart proceeded to get the manager asked me repeatedly why i was there. Then he came back and asked me "are you sure you have the right address?" Which basically insinuated that I didn't belong there. He was extremely racist and I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone. The manager came for absolutely no reason because I guess I wasn't leaving fast enough although I had only been there for less than five minutes and my car was still running... and they basically told me that they were kicking me off the property and I didn't even get a moment to purchase the pass which I was going to do anyways. But this place does not deserve my money or anyone else's. Pick another campground, just not this one unless you want to be discriminated against. I am very disappointed in the management of this establishment. I receive no apology for the unfair treatment and for the harassment. I would never walk up to someone's car and ask them why they were there, that is completely intrusive. We are local to the area and just got back from this KOA. We are disappointed!! :(. The pool was not working, they said they are waiting for a part to fix the filter but they had a robot cleaning the pool which means the filter had to be working. (We are pool owners) There was no note at check in, nothing on website and the staff didnt mention it unless asked. If u called the 1800 number u were told the pool was operating. There were a few people that left due to this. KoA U had all winter and spring to get the pool up and running. With how hot it has been lately, the pool should be working. We didnt try the showers but the bathrooms were not horrible (we have seen worse and alot better). KOA needs to do a better job of activities they offer. There was only 1 small sign the listed the activities and no one went to any of them except the ice cream social. And the jump pillow was only open from 11 to 5 or 11 to 6 depending on when the girl wanted to shut it down. I am not sure if this is how all KOAs are but this is the only campground we have been to like this. With no pool and barely any activities, the jump pillows should have stayed open longer. Now we have been camping and rving for years, even during covid but we have never seen so many covid campers. Walking thru sites, speeding in vehicles and not to mention the sheer ignorance. Including the jerk that desided to cuss and scream at our 9 year old for a total mistake. So much so that a neighboring camper had to help calm him down with us. Please beware as this KOA is not that child friendly. It would seem KOAs are geared more to adults so i will spend the extra money to go to sun rv resorts. To bad zero options isn't a choice. my family has stayed at so many KOA sites, and this is BY FAR the worst.. ACTUALLY, the ONLY bad experience.. the grounds are nice, the pool is clean.. but this place has ZERO customer service.. we were rented bikes that they didn't have to be rented.. everyone around there looks like they hate their life and their job.. KOA is my FAVORITE campsite.. but this one has left such a bitter taste in my mouth.. the sad thing is, they DO NOT even have to do any services for you.. we come in our RV, stay for our time, use the KOA amenitie because we DID pay for them.. site see and roll out a few days later.. we RARELY even have interactions with staff.. just smiles and waves and if we have questions. these people have made every twisted turn to be rude. save yourself the aggravation and disappointment of this place and find somewhere else to set up! my hopes were so high! read more

Very disappointed to find out that even though it was after 6 pm , it was off season and the pool was closed my guest had to pay 5 dollars a head and 5 dollars for a car to come into the park. I was on the area for 1 night and had not seen these people for over 8 years and I had to tell them they would have to pay at least 10 dollars to see me. How embarrassing. This KOA is smaller than other ones I've been to, but it was well maintained and my kids had a blast even though it rained the whole weekend. The staff was friendly and polite. This KOA is about 35 minutes from DC with no traffic and about 20 minutes from Baltimore, and Annapolis is right down the road. We have a 30 ft camper and originally booked a partial hook up site through the website, but I kept checking and a full hook up-pull through popped up as available. After a quick phone call, I upgraded with no issue. My only complaint is the guest-visitors fees...5$ per car plus $5 per adult. I have family near by and each time they came over, I spent an extra $15-$20 just for them to hang out for 2-3 hours at my site. I understand parking is limited, but they weren't using an extra amenities. I'd suggest a $5 dollar flat fee. Regardless, the camp was super clean and the staff were good people. I'd clamp here again, especially if you want to be in between DC-Baltimore-Annapolis. read more

They messed up my reservation an gave me a key to another cabin.it was late no big deal.. Next day came back with my son(5 years old) ALL my stuff was gone.. Clothes. Shoes.wet towel from shower. Threw away all my food in the fridge claimed they thought someone had left it behind. I had also called 4 times that day an no answer which they weren't busy at all.. Manager came down agreed to refund me a night well they only refunded half a night which doesn't cover the food they tossed..called twice for manager to call me back to discuss an no call back.. They must need the money more then I do, we camp ALOT an will never step foot there again read more

My husband and I stayed here back in early June for two weeks. We were tent camping on a site with electricity and water. The campsite was smooth and in a good location, nestled between the trees. When it rained (and boy did it rain), we didn't get flooded which was nice. The bathrooms were cleaned regularly and the showers had good water pressure. The disk sink was clean as well. The pool and other outdoor amenities were a nice touch when I didn't feel like sitting in the tent or walking the designated trails. Quite a few harvestmen and mosquitos out, but that is to be expected when you're camping so just remember the bug spray. The price per night was very reasonable and the location was great for getting around and exploring. We would definitely camp here again. read more

We needed a campground close to DC. This one met all our expectations for a KOA. We were treated with respect and the staff had a helpful attitude. The restrooms and showers were clean. For being located between two huge cities, you feel your in the middle of the country. It's about a 30 minute drive to the rail station for DC which we did rather than use their shuttle. They brought the wood to our site. We would return to this location. read more

OMG!! We just left the campground. We left early because some lady brought in more than 20 girls, they were Brownies. I have NEVER seen anything like it. First, the mothers parked all around the cabin. (Number 5 I believe) They blocked the roads, making access to our site impossible without hitting a car. We parked up in the overflow parking by the store which is quite a ways off. Walking down, a man requested politely for them to move their cars. They IGNORED him. We went up to the store to request help. Found out we weren't the only ones with a problem with the crowd. The lady at the store went down and requested they move the cars. Found out, NONE of the people had paid (think only the people in cabin 5(?) paid. Lady told them it was $5 guest fee. I couldn't believe it when they gave her an attitude about paying $5. None wanted to pay. She told them at that point they needed to leave. THEY REFUSED!!! I couldn't believe it. Eventually the police showed up and he told them, they were trespassing if they weren't paying. They told him a bunch of excuses and LIES but he must have seen through them and told them to vacate the property. I really couldn't fathom that these women were teaching their kids to be disrespectful AND steal. I've usually enjoyed this campground and the people who staff it. But these people disturbed the peaceful time I had been looking forward to. Decided to travel although we'll be joining others who are fleeing Florence. But we will be coming back in October. Accommodating after Covid-19 outbreak. Worked with me to move my dates and not lose my deposit.

We had reservations for this campground months in advance. We arrived with other motor homes. The campsite we received was so unlevel we were on four blocks and still very unlevel. When we opened our door we opened it into a tree. When I went to ask for another site they gave us three other sites in the same condition as this site. We asked to be moved by our friends and were refused. The site we received was cheaper, but we would have gladly paid more. After being refused and lied to we packed up and left. We stayed at Cherry Hill Park which I highly recommend. Beware if you try and stay at Washington KOA you may scratch your RV the road to campground not RV friendly read more

One of my friends who were staying called to tell me they did have a spot open up the day before we were gonna go. Another mutual friend had cancelled. But it was too late for us. We already winterized the Rv. Our friends took pics of the campground while they were there. IT WAS EMPTY! WTH! Price dropped to $45. Was $170. Wow! Oh well! Won't ever go there! We like this KOA a lot ! Our family and I meet half way and we have such a great time here. Our favorite thing to do is sit around a campfire and just relax. A little secret we go to the pool around 10 am when most people have gone into DC. Have the pool almost to ourselves. It is especially beautiful here at night. Last time it was a full moon and it was so many stars and so peaceful. The bathrooms are so very clean. The staff is friendly and will bring firewood to your site. My sister had two bags of ice she was carrying to her site. A KOA guy saw her and dropped her and the ice at her site. KOA going the extra mile. One thing really nice is the cement pad patio sites. They have gas grill patio table and chairs fire pit and andridak chairs. Nice to be up out of the sand. The shuttle into DC is very convenient and the drivers are friendly and a wealth of information. Been back and forth here for years. Love the area. And major shopping is about 3 miles away. read more

The staff here is extremely rude! The little blonde at the front desk has nasty attitude. I was visiting my parents to pick them up to go to lunch and this rude employee acted like I walked into the Ritz Carlton. News flash! You work at a CAMPGROUND! Get off your high horse! My parents will never come here again. The pool is small, the campsites are small as hell and you can barely park your car next to your RV. They are also racist. My stepfather speaks PERFECT English and because he has an accent they were talking to him as if he couldn't speak English. This price is higher than campgrounds in the area. I have been to better campgrounds than this and they were cheaper! They also charged $5/person when visiting the campsite. Pure bs!! This place is a hot mess! Oh yea my original review had way more curses than this but Yelp deleted it. But I am reposting this review to let ppl know not to come here! They might as well put a Trump sign at their front entrance!! This is the THIRD time I am posting this because ppl need to know how rude these ppl are. The fee hasn't always been there because another EMPLOYEE stated that she doesn't understand why they are deciding to implement visitor fees when they have never done that before. KOA keeps having my review removed because they know I am telling the truth. My family didn't have a problem paying the fees the main issue was the disgusting attitudes we received. Have "camped" at this KOA twice when visiting DC and Baltimore. Sites are close together but plenty of room to maneuver, even for Big Rigs. Pull through sites available. Clean laundry room, general store, pool and full hook ups. There is a little forest with footpaths large enough for a quick hike or running with a stream. Even though the park is located next to the freeway you don't notice as the place is surrounded by thick forest. The surrounding area is safe, quiet suburban homes. For a densely populated area it's almost country like. There are shops nearby and the drive to DC and Baltimore is very convenient. Typical for a KOA, it is on the expensive side but on par with others in the area which there are few. the staff was very polite and helpful and the campground very tidy. read more

We stayed 2 nights at park while touring DC. Facilities were very clean. Bathrooms, showers and laundry were clean and looked rather new. Plenty of hot water. Plenty of activities for kids. The shuttle was prompt, clean and reliable. The bus looked new. The only reason I give it four stars is because our site was difficult to level our trailer on. We would definitely stay there again. So the campground is nice. The campsites are a little close. But you have a choice of open or wooded, primitive to full hook up. My only complaint, and I think it's a big one, I is the coffee situation. I reserved a deluxe cabin, the website claimed there was a coffee maker in the cabin, and coffee and filters. No there was not. There was a single serve keyring and 4 k cups for a 6 person cabin. If I would have known that, I would have brought my own coffee maker. When I "camp" with family. we need a regular size coffee pot. I would expect that in a cabin that is 240 bucks a night. read more

This is a beautiful campground. The people here are very nice. However while there's enough room between sites to be comfortable, the sites themselves are short. When I made the reservation, I informed them that I was staying overnight and would not be unhooking and that I have a 36' RV and am towing a pickup truck. The site I was given was just big enough for us to fit with our truck sticking out in the road a little bit. read more

NO I would not recommend this KOA. Please do not waste your money with putting a site reserve if you do decide to go. We booked for the September 2017 BOGO weekend and in August were staying here, weren't getting a warm and fuzzy feeling from this new management, so we wondered over to the office to double-check our reservations. To our surprise - we had been moved! We 'reserved - DO NOT MOVE' pull-thrus and both reservation spots were moved, one of our two reservations was moved to a small back-in site with a cabin right behind it - what?? After going back and forth with the new management (Cheryl the Office Manager) wondering why we were moved with a DO NOT MOVE requested having paid for extra for it and the office manager saying there was not a DO NOT MOVE on either of our reservations, we decided it was best to cancel our 'reservations' understanding that we would be reimbursed less $10 for fees. BUT when my refund hit the card it was $20 less - oaky what again?!?!? When I called I was told it was because each reservation had a DO NOT MOVE - okay wait a minute??? I continued to call each day, sometime twice and left messages for Cheryl, I also emailed her daily, wondering if she could explain - no phone call back - no email back ... until I cc'd the main KOA office (they were no help either) that's when Cheryl finally wrote me and stated she had written me back (clearly not knowing how this email thing works, cuz I have every email in a trail) and state that we would not be receiving the $20 per site back because of the DO NOT MOVE. I plead my case with her for several more days until I finally gave up. Pay attention to the recent comments when deciding whether to book her, the new management folks are just out for your money, not friendly camping folks. read more

The staff we encountered were friendly. The campground was clean and tidy. We had a site that had a concrete pad with a nice table and chair set and two Adirondack chairs. We had a gas grill, we didn't use it and I would not have, it was really dirty. The bathrooms were clean with nice showers. The only complaint I have is there was a sign posted on the bathhouse that said cleaning was from 9am until 10:30am which is fine we planned around that, however; they started cleaning one day at 8:15 and were still cleaning at 9:30am. This caused an issue for several folks who came to use the bath house and couldn't. Several folks mentioned to some other staff about the sign giving a specific time and then not following it. Other than that for us going to D.C. for spring break it was a nice place to stay. read more

I'm not surprised that there are several negative reviews about this campground. I've stayed at KOA campgrounds all over the country and I have to say that this KOA does not deserve to be in the KOA family. Here is my story: 1) I made a reservation on the KOA website for this summer. 2) Normally when you make an online reservation with KOA, they charge you one nights stay to hold the reservation. To my surprise, when I received my confirmation email, they had charged me the amount for the entire stay. This was done without warning during the reservation process. 3) When I called the reservation number to ask why I had been charged for the entire stay, I was told that this was their policy and also that if I cancelled the reservation, I would not receive any of my full price deposit back. 4) Normal policy for KOAs is to charge a $10 cancellation fee. This nominal fee is waived if you stay at enough KOAs to achieve VIP member status. 5) I called this KOA last week to discuss my change of plans for this summer due to the COVID 19 virus. They said that they understood my need to cancel and also said that I would receive a full refund. Great, right? 6) I finally got my confirmation email yesterday, and guess what, they charged me 3 nights stay for a cancellation fee. So this review is a warning to fellow campers: look for other options in the DC area. By the way, they are no longer answering their phone, but they did surprise me by answering one of my emails. Of course, they claimed that the 3 night cancellation fee was their policy, and that I was notified of that when I made my reservations. Liars and cheats are words that come to mind. read more

Checked in Friday October 30th. It's a full house. Upon arrival there was a staff person at the entrance who informed us of our site number. He also told us that NO OUTSIDE VISITORS ALLOWED. As we came to this campground specifically to visit with local friends and they wanted to visit us for ONE HOUR, we were disappointed that they could not visit us. We were given a pull through spot but considering that we are a 41 foot rig the electric outlet was in the wrong spot- the front corner of the site rather than the rear corner where all campers have their connections. WTH? We had to pull out into the road in order for our cord to reach. . Next we checked in at the office and during the process were told that we could have visitors as long as we "registered them". We had to register them for a minimum of two days despite the fact that they will only be onsite ONE HOUR! $5 per person per day and an additional $5 per car per day! Our $82 per night ( which is FAR too much for Only 30 amp/water-- NO sewer! Not a value in our opinion!) turned into $102 per night. Crazy! Will never be back! read more

KOA Millersville does not deserve my rating, really dies not even deserve my time im spending on this review, however people should know that an employee entered my cabin an was caught doing so, i was called a liar by staff an it was also said by the office manager that my story kept changing witch is a lie, they apparently had an issue with my son who did get in trouble 2 times and problems were takin care of right away, an as for the RUDE old man on the golf cart who stalked my every move who called me a liar about the whole situation he can piss off. Ya an i forgot that at 10:59 pm when the incident occurred i went directly to the office to report the man said "what do you want me to do about it" and urged me to the way out of the store, WOW! that shows great concern for your campers and safety doesnt it?, so this is a failing management that hopefully wont take long to go under and I may return maby when new management takes over, after reading previous reviews I am by far NOT the only one who has suffered with rude employees and employees who go into your cabin when your not there, witch by the way that employee has a rap sheet 2 pages long of robbery, armed robbery and drug use. We paid ALOT of money to stay for just under 2 weeks and were treated completely awful. I DO NOT!! RECOMEND KOA MILLERSVILLE No stars for them read more
