Came here 2 weeks ago for my sons birthday party. We were initially going to go a bubble ball birthday package but went with a Nerf party, because we had some smaller kids attending. The venue supplied all the guns and ammo for the Nerf guns, but they only had little 1 shot pistols. For the price I thought that was a little underwhelming, but the kids did have a really good time. However they do allow you to bring your own guns from home. The staff was really friendly and did a great job with the kids, and helping out when it came time to serve food and eat. They ended up pretty much just being our guest after a while, and we enjoyed having them join us. We put a deposit down like 3 weeks in advance, and paid the rest after the party. I would definitely come back, but I really wanna see what that bubble ball party is hitting for. read more

My son had his 10th birthday party at API. He wanted to do a flag football tournament with all his friends. It was an awesome experience. The domed facility with turf was amazing. My family have been involved with a couple of youth sport organizations over the years. One in particular I felt was very good. Then, last year, my wife and I brought both of our boys over to API for the baseball program. Coming to API was a big eye opener for us. We thought we were experiencing the best that a youth organization could offer in the past. API made us realize that there is so much more that an organization can do for your children. The faculty is better than anything in AA County. And it is not just from a sports perspective. The ancillary opportunities/programs to the sport our boys play teaches them life lessons while helping toward their goals in sports. Coming to API last year was a blessing. We only wish we had made the mover sooner. read more

Attending a football camp here at these facilities. It was about 25-35 degrees hotter inside than it was outside. No preparation was done to maintain a safe working space for the student athletes. Very disappointed in this facility and their lack of proper maintenance and care. Very unsafe situation they put our athletes in. Won't attend any other events at this location! read more

I have been taking my 4-year old here weekly classes. She's taken an all-sports class and soccer class. Right now, she's in one of the summer camps. Coach B always remembers the kids names. In fact, we haven't been to API for more than a month and when we walked in, she greeted my daughter by name. She is very engaging with the kids and positive. Terrible place for a field hockey tournament! Spectator viewing and seating is limited. And then they kick you out of the only area with chairs for a party - during a big tournament?? Travel hockey teams, don't waste your money for a tourney here. read more

Seems only interested in your money. High prices for the sports programs with even more money for private lessons. Seems odd that it is encourage to pay cash for these lessons.Good training and bad coaching is what you will receive at API. The development of the children take the back seat to trophies and cash in pockets. read more

Not sure how this place runs as a facility, but do yourself a favor and do NOT participate in any API- sponsored tournaments! We had the All - American Sports Fest this weekend in Lake Shore. I am an assistant coach for my son's 8U tournament baseball team, and we won the tournament. We had to go get the medals (YES, MEDALS! NO TROPHY!) and when we were handing them out, they said 2nd place! We had to go back and get the right ones! There was no ceremony, the other team took off, and it took the boys' moment in the spotlight away from them. SHAME ON YOU, API! SHAME ON YOU FOR MAKING THIS TOURNAMENT THE SINGLE WORST ONE ALL SEASON! We have participated in 8 this year and I loved all of them, but yours will leave a sour taste in my mouth forever. read more

Agree with a previous review. Nice facility but bad coaching for lots of money. My kid's "coach" talked about other parents and kids on the team in a derogatory manner throughout the season. "Coach" was loud and abrasive, even talking about the players to the other kids on the team. Worst sports experience we've ever had. read more

I have taken my 3 year old son to the soccer, all sport and junior summer camp. They have an All Sport Kids Academy that is amazing for children. My son loves Coach B and wants to go to class every day. He has made 2 new friends and now the 3 of them have play dated while the Moms enjoy our time together. I give Coach B an A++ for her patience, creative program, awareness of what each child needs and she genuinely cares for her program, parents and kids! Make sure you send your child to this program. I think that she coaches up to the age of 8. The facility is a great place for the kids and I found out that I can work out while she coaches the kids. In today's competitive business world, one would think that every business would want to please their customers, not alienate them. The basic premise is that customers would return to them and tell other people about them. In my particular case with Athletic Performance, Inc. (API) in Gambrills, MD, they seem to have failed to grasp that simple business mentality. In August, my son was scheduled for 3 weeks of API's sports camp (paid for on July 11th). After a day or two, he said he did not want to attend anymore. I spoke with Belinda Bryant, the camp director, regarding alternative activities at API. I specifically told her I wanted to get my son some private baseball lessons offered at API as he had a tryout coming up for a team he wanted to play for. She agreed to give me a credit for the last 2 weeks totaling $598.00 and said I could use these funds to pay for these lessons. At first, only a partial credit was given. I called to inquire about the full credit but heard nothing for a few days. I visited API and spoke to Ms. Bryant in person. She claimed to have left me a message that she was checking in to things for me. However, no message was received (I made certain that she had my contact information correct, which she did). After a few more days of hearing nothing, I again went to API to speak with Ms. Bryant personally. She indicated again that she had left me a message but yet, I failed to receive it. In any event, the full credit she promised me was on my account now. It was now the beginning of September. Ms. Bryant then gave me the contact info of the gentleman who runs the baseball program at API, Matt Selmer. After 3 voicemails and about 4 weeks of trying to contact Mr. Selmer, I finally reached him. He apologized for his lack of responsiveness claiming he was simply inundated with work. We spoke about what I wanted for my son and that I had a credit at API. It was here that things became very "interesting". Apparently, Mr. Selmer and his services do not fall under the "umbrella" of API. I was informed that he would need to speak with the owner about them transferring the credit. It took another 2 weeks and after not hearing from Mr. Selmer, I finally got a hold of him and he told me the owner said I could NOT use the credit for his services. On October 29th, I spoke with Stephen Vaught who is listed on the API website as founder and President. He explained how his business is set up and why I could not use the credit with Mr. Selmer. I could not have cared less about that. What I cared about was that they had my $598.00 since July 11th with no services provided. I made a good faith effort to use the credit but quite frankly, after more than 2 months of trying, I wanted a refund. He refused. I informed him I would be writing this article. I find it interesting that people at API seem to not be very responsive to their customers and that API has no problem using Mr. Selmer's name in association with their baseball program, but not enough to allow him to get paid from my credit. But what I find most interesting is that I asked for a refund and was refused even though NO SERVICES WERE PROVIDED. I have notified the BBB and spoken to some consumer advocate groups. I will also be posting this article online. All I wanted and still want is a refund. Mr. Vaught threatened me about writing this article, saying he would have his attorney look at it for libel and slander. Threatening customers is NOT a very good business practice Mr. Vaught. I began going to this facility when it was known as Severn Valley Tennis Club. They were very reliable in quickly restringing rackets. However under the new API management, I had one of the WORST experiences dealing with a business of my life. I took my racket to be restrung in time for one of my upcoming matches. I asked multiple times to make sure it was clear that I would get my racket in time. Three days after my match, the racket was still not restrung and they had lost the strings I provided. When I expressed that I should not have to pay the full price for a restringing, the person who strung the racket said "Pay the money and leave." and "Do you want me to cut the strings off and give you an empty racket back?" When I talked to the manager, she did nothing to remedy the problem, simply telling me "Sometimes mistakes happen." I have never been treated with such disrespect when buying something. I will NEVER return to API. read more
