We paid for open swim (from 11-3pm $5 adults $3 child) and head for the locker rooms. Locker rooms were a bit small but did the job. They only had the half size lockers so don't bring anything long (coats, dress). Showers were clean and had soap available. The pool was wonderful. They dedicate two lanes for "open" swim and the rest of the pool is for lap (about 4 lanes I think). At 11 it was not too busy at all and we were able to have our mommy group space enough. We were not bothered and the life guard was right there the whole time. The rest of the facility looked great too. Might have to check out their gym or therapy pool/lessons another time. They do lessons as well.

Actually, just having looked back at pictures, it is very CASTLE - esk. It's practically a large castle. So, you get into the center and it's more like a large gym space though. The ceiling is very high which is nice- makes the room very airy. I was here for the Maryland Ensemble Theater's Retro Prom. They decorated the place nicely. And the venue seems like it could easily fit 500 people reception style. There is a lack of parking, but the large expansive room makes up for it. If memory serves me right, there were basketball hoops attached to the ceiling. It is very much like a gym feel. There are fields around the building. A great large event venue in a town where not many at all exist.

The combination of these really stinks - pay $6.75 for parking only to find the pool is closed. The gym is amazing with dozens of complete weight setups of all types, I can't really imagine a better equipped gym. I was running late for my daughters bball game so I didn't want to be rushed however; it is the security and safety of the people in the building that concerns me. They need to stop everyone and make them sign in and inquire as to where they are going as well as check ID's. That's what I have had to do at other Rec centers. Otherwise it was nice inside, clean, and several options of things to do. There was a table of snacks before you enter the gym where they sell snacks also.

The Truxtun Park boat ramp is open year round from 5 a.m. until 8 p.m. Two, concrete ramps are available. There is a $5 fee per launch payable via Visa/MasterCard or annual pass only. No cash is accepted at the park. Fees apply all days of the year to any vessel launched from the ramps. Truxtun Park has three picnic pavilions available for rent year round. Groups of 10 or more must obtain a permit in advance. Unfortunately there are only a couple of lanes available in the deep end as the rest of the deep end is saved for things like water aerobics. The weight room was pretty disappointing. It was missing quite a bit of equipment I would expect in a weight room. I ended up choosing a different gym for my weight lifting, as I was constantly having to change my planned workout due to a lack of equipment. The pool is good though.
