What a place. Nan was so much fun to talk to. She educated us on all the teas and even made us several free samples. The teas are so delicious. And the choices are never ending. I'm so happy to have found this gem :) So far I have tried their Broccoli Cheddar soup,BLAT Sandwich,Veggie Sandwich, Raisin Scone and Blueberry scone both with clotted cream, and Peach Vanilla tea and Masala Chai tea. Everything I have tried has been absolutely delicious! I have yet to try their high tea which runs $30-$35 per person based on your preferences and it comes with unlimited tea selections to try and a delicious tower of goodies for an hour and a half, needless to say I will be back very soon to try this! I highly recommend if you are in the area or just want a nice spot to relax by yours or with friends! A small pot of tea that yields 3 cups for only $5 is totally worth it! Had high tea here with my wife for her bday and we had a nice time. The staff here is friendly and the food is good quality. The Afternoon high tea is standard items with some rotating variety on the dessert. They let you sample as many teas as you like, which is a rare bonus. Overall tea quality is good, I just wish I had the option of steeping it myself as I find most people over brew their tea for my tastes. The main down side to the Afternoon tea experience here is that the atmosphere is very casual, so it doesn't feel as elegant, and the service is a little slow at times. As a tea shop in general, it is my preferred location in South Denver to get a cup and hang out for a bit. I typically buy bulk tea online, but they have fair pricing on small portions. The ambience is warm with fairy lights overhead and a cool wood light fixture with different stones. They offer multiple types of tea drinks (hot or cold) along with sandwiches, soups and salads. Made a reservation two weeks ago for High Tea for my daughter and I. The experience started off pretty good, but after about 30 minutes and probably 30 walk ins later, service pretty much stopped for our table. We wanted to try some additional teas and more food but unfortunately we never saw our waitress again. She was at the counter the entire time. Tables near us were complaining about the lack of service as well. There was only one other employee and he was in the kitchen. I attended a baby shower at Capital Tea and what a fun experience! The shop is very inviting with eclectic decor, art from local artists (for sale), a wall full of tea canisters, and even a cozy little seating area (in addition to several tables). The tea settings are unique and delicate, each so beautiful which made it feel really special. We were there for a High Tea event so there were little finger sandwiches and delicious treats. My favorite was the chicken & green chile taquito savory snack - so tasty! I also loved the traditional cucumber and cream cheese (I think) finger sandwich. I shouldn't have been but I was really impressed with the variety of tea that was offered and available. I think I got to try 3 or 4 kinds, my favorite was the lavender vanilla. Ugh, I really don't understand all the great reviews here. I have now been here twice, once for lunch and once for loose tea. The first time, my friend and I ordered the grilled cheese and the salmon sandwich. The cheese was very skimpy on the grilled cheese and was not even melted. The salmon sandwich was also very skimpy and said it came with house made dill pickles, which I was looking forward to. I did not receive any pickles and instead just got a few pieces of lettuce I'm guessing was supposed to be a salad....no explanation! The pot of tea we ordered was good and we purchased a bit of loose leaf to bring home. After the purchase, we were handed the tea as the girl walked away without saying anything...we looked at each other and said, "I guess we're done??" On the next visit, since the food was skimpy and overpriced, I decided to try just some loose leaf. The girl at the cash register was not at all friendly, offered NO help, and didn't even say hello or crack a smile. I felt like I was interrupting her day. When I asked the price on the loose leaf, I was told $3.34/oz. I proceeded to order two ounces of two different types. When she rang me up, the total was over $24.....one was a top shelf, but she didn't give me any other pricing, nor did she offer a receipt. I couldn't believe it could be this much more??? This is a quaint and small tea house. They have a vast variety of whole leaf tea that you can order there and even buy in bulk. I have never had a chance to sit down and enjoy myself here. The few times I've stopped by have been for tea in bulk or a tea to-go. My lack of a five star review is that the space not taken up by a table is so small, you can't help but feel you're in someone's way. The last time I was there for a to-go tea, I was going to sit and wait for the tea at an empty table. However, almost half the tables had a post-it note on them stating they were reserved, and the rest of their tables were already occupied. Out of respect of the signage, I stood and waited looking at all the cool tea accessories they have for sale instead. I fell in love with this tea house on an antiquing jaunt. Walked in with zero expectations and was blown away by absolutely everything from the art on the walls, the amazing amazing light fixtures and then -oh my gosh- there's cake! Cake and loose teas sold by the ounce. We bought some Lapsong Souchong (sp?), Winston Churchill's favorite tea, and enjoyed a beautiful salad, sandwich and then of course... Cake! Sitting in there was serene and peaceful and very enjoyable. The two attendents were knowledgeable and helpful, bending over backwards with our food order as well as talking about the teas! We went here before Covid, and we reserved an afternoon tea. The place is quaint with a warm atmosphere. When we got there, a table was set-up in the corner with such a cute table setting. As soon as we sat down, they gave us a sample tea and I ended up buying the loose leaf tea to bring home. The finger sandwiches and the scones were so good. On a recent trip to Denver for a hockey game and family dinner, we needed a place to hang out for an hour. I Googled tea shops and found Capital Tea on South Broadway. It's a very pleasant tea shop to meet friends. Kevin, Perry, and I sat on couches in the corner. A small table in front of the couches held a large tray filled with tea in sixteen ounce teapots, honey, cream, and baked goodies. I drank an excellent Peach Vanilla with peach pieces. It wasn't bitter and had a vanilla after flavor. Perry and Kevin enjoyed Earl Grey Windermere with a strong bouquet. Perry ate a tasty black currant lemon scone with rich lemon curd. Kevin and I had melt-in-your-mouth apricot bars covered with a lot of crunchy almonds. Lisa, the owner, gave us excellent, friendly service. It's marked for return visits to Denver! read more

The perfect find. So I stumbled upon this little gem by accident after being shunned by some rude obnoxious barista over at Strange Coffee which should be called Rude Coffee. I was in the area looking for a place to have a cup of Joe and eat some lunch while I waited for my next meeting.... It turned out to be a blessing and better than expected. Although I was looking for coffee I stumbled into this array of delicious flavored of assortment of teas, hand crafted sandwiches and homemade sweet treats. The coconut macaroons are to die for! Capital Tea is my favorite tea house in the world! They have tons of different teas to choose from so I get something new every time I go and I'm never disappointed. I even keep a little takeout menu with notes on which teas are my favorite! There are so many I'd recommend, but I'll keep it to a couple: Black tea: their Earl Grey White Tip is light and lovely, their chocolate chai is tasty, and their black lychee is quite excellent! Green tea: I recommend the Serenitea (green w/ chamomile & lemon) Herbal & fruit teas: the Cherry Vanilla is a really tasty berry blend and the Vanilla Rooibos is quite excellent. They'll do teas iced or hot! You can even get them by the teapot which is super darling. And don't even get me started on their pastries and food! I get their ham and swiss on sourdough every time I go, it's quite excellent. They have a classically trained pastry chef there so all the scones, cookies, cakes, and treats are beyond wonderful! I highly recommend their macaroons (and I don't even like coconut!) or whichever gorgeous cake they have on display. Last time I went, they had mini carrot bundt cakes and they were divine! They always have soft, pleasant music playing and local art on display for purchase. There are cafe tables with little flowers and a cozy sofa seating area as well. Capital Tea has wonderful teas, and the food is good. However the service is hit or miss. I have been a few separate times and feel that the staff are either very helpful or a bit unwelcoming. I had my birthday party here and the staff was quite rude. I was repeatedly asked intrusive questions about a guest who had run a few minutes late, and they didn't check on the table very often. Afterwards, they asked us to leave because we had run 3 minutes over waiting for rides to arrive. I feel that perhaps you may wish to go elsewhere. read more

Lovely little tea shoppe conveniently located a few miles from my home. I called earlier this week to get put on the waitlist for their Harry Potter High Tea, and they called me back this morning to tell me I could come! Parking was easy to find in front of the shop, and the set up they had for the theme tea was absolutely adorable. All the pastries were on theme and all the servers had at least a little trinket to show their Harry Potter spirit, from a time turner on my server to full Ravenclaw colors on the server of the tables next to me. I tried their Dragonwell tea, which was alright, and their coconut vanilla, which was phenomenal. I honestly should have bought some loose leaf tea(which is 25% off if you attend any reserved tea service) to bring home. All of the pastries and sandwiches they served were absolutely delicious, all at a perfect size, and I walked out quite full. It is a bit pricey for high tea, but well worth it. Things happen. people get sick and family things come up. It would be nice if they were more flexible. They do allow you to take home those you paid for but didn't show. I would encourage others to do that. I also feel like they push the black tea and they could make the herbal tea more available. This super cozy restaurant is right on S Broadway and is close enough to my office that I absolutely love dining here. The menu has a lot of options but my favorite is the BLT with avocado and cheddar cheese. The staff can help you pick out the perfect tea to pair with your lunch. Make sure that you're not in a rush however because this is a more relaxed place and it does take a little while to get your food. The ladies next to me last time were having high tea that looked fabulous. This is not a super fancy place to have a high tea, but the tea shop is charming and the food is good.
