I have been taking my cars to Cape Auto for years. JP and his team do great work, communicate well and are there when you need them. I had a flat tire once and they plugged it right away so I could get on my way. The next time I had a check engine light and JP checked it right away and said it was safe to drive until they had an opening to get me in. Plan ahead because they are very busy and are typically 2-3 weeks out before they can get you in for an appointment. After an unsavory experience with AAA Annapolis, I took my vehicle to Cape Auto. I should have gone there in the first place. Via word of mouth, I had heard nothing but great things about them. I left my vehicle, which had failed emissions inspection twice, there for J.P. and his crew to look over. When I returned J.P. explained the prognosis and that he would have a detailed written estimate available for me the next day. He did and I approved and scheduled the work to be done. The repairs were completed in a timely fashion and there was great communication along the way. The estimate was right on target. My vehicle passed inspection and has never run better. Needed to get a tire plugged desperately and had called around the area, everywhere quoted me at least $30 but Cape said $15. I didn't believe it but when I got there it was true. It took literally ten minutes, the guys in there were very nice and respectful. I had to pay with a card and I guess their policy is that they need a minimum payment?(not sure) But the guy at the desk asked me to come back later with cash so he didn't have to charge my card more money. He said I trust you. Of course i came back later with the cash but that was something you don't see every day and struck me as honest and very nice. These guys are one of the best shops in the area. They are honest about what needs to be done and don't tack on additional things if they don't need to be done. The prices are very good as well. To top it off, they are very friendly. They treat you like a friend rather than a customer. ***UPDATE*** 12/22/2014 It's been almost 4 years since my review so it's time for an update. My thoughts haven't changed. These guys are still great. I've taken my Buick there and they only fixed what was needed. No upselling. No astronomical pricing. Just good work at a good price. For me, unfortunately, everyone else is figuring this out as well and it takes a little while to get your car in there because they're so backed up. But get this... Terrible experience. Don't know why others like this group. This is my last time here. Takes forever to get scheduled. I brought my truck in for faulty AC earlier this year. They didn't find the problem, topped up the coolant, and called me at the end of day saying come get it. Didn't call to tell me what they found and handed me back a truck we both know is still broken. He said bring it back if it fails again. So, I assumed this would mean he would do something the next time. Just got a call and got the exact same story. No diagnostic, no time left in the day, more coolant come pick it up. Lots of hassle to drop off and pick up, no communication, and if it aint super super simple, they will just pass on doing the work. read more

Honest Work and Fair Prices On more than one occasion, I've taken a vehicle to Cape Auto after being told elsewhere that I needed work done. Often, they have indicated that the work did not really need to be done or that a part needed to be tightened. They refused payment for these visits When they have done work, it was thoroughly explained, fairly priced and completed when promised. I have no hesitations in recommending this shop. read more

I have nothing - nothing good to say about Cape Auto since JT took over. I have been a customer there for over 30 years and never had a problem. At 80 years old I had to walk 20 blocks from the shop to my home they have no ride service. I was charged for three hours labor on a 30 minute job. My vehicle was tied up for over a month. I was charged 10 times what the materials were worth that they used to repair my vehicle. After the work was completed, it was not road tested to see if the work was properly completed OR, it was done by a total incompetent. Never again ! read more

This place is awesome. After being screwed over by JBA Chevrolet, I took my car here for noise associated with a tire rotation from JBA. They were able to take care of the noise as well as fix a brake problem that I have had since I bought the car in '06. PLUS, the cost was very reasonable!!! I have to agree with the previous reviewer. My batteries were losing power so I had taken my truck to Advanced Auto Parts and they did a free diagnostic test which said that my batteries were bad and that my alternator was not charging properly. I have two batteries because I have a diesel truck. Anyway I scheduled Cape Auto to take a look at my alternator. They had ordered the new part so when I took it in they were going to check it out and replace it if that indeed was the problem. After testing they found that the charge was not correct but it took about 20 minutes for the charge to dissipate. So they put the new alternator on and reran the test with the same result. They even replaced the tensioner belt and repeated the test. They deduced that it was the ECM (control Module) and only the dealer could install that. They had 3.5 hours worth of work in and they did not charge me a dime because they said they did not fix anything. I offered twice to pay something but they graciously declined. Please patronize this business so we don't lose honest businesses like this. They are hard to find these days. read more

Cape Auto is a family-owned/run shop that tells it like it is and doesn't rip you off. The guys are friendly and honest. I have never been disappointed and very much appreciate that they have never tried to fix something that wasn't broken, never suggested to work on items which I didn't take it in there for, and best of all whenever I get the bill, sweating with fear of what I will be charged, I am always shocked at their reasonable prices. After my 'free' oil change at the dealership where I bought my car, the dealership gave me a list of things that needed to be fixed to the tune of $2305.00. I brought the car and the dealer's punch list to Cape Auto, where they went over everything...said yes, some things needed doing but others were not necessary. They did the work, replaced the parts as needed, and had the car completely tuned up and ready to go. Bottom line at Cape Auto? $324.52 (including tax). I trust them to do exactly what is needed and not to take advantage of their customer. Couldn't ask for more excellent work or honorable people. read more
