She gives me options and allows me to participate in my health care decisions. They have called me with test results and ask if I have any questions. From the start of your first point of contact, it's not good. The greeting is looooooong and slow. I went here once like 8 years ago and saw Dr. Janet Doran once. I never went back, I was so offended and shocked by my experience, especially since she was recommended by my other local doctor. I shared by experience with that referring doctor and she was surprised. I needed a quick PCP last year since I now have an HMO and went with CAMC. Whatever. You don't see the doctor usually. I got Dr. Doran again though and she's just cold w/o a bedside manner. You can't even ask her if flu shots are worth it because there are 2 different schools of thought. Just nothing there. You can't engage and the staff sometimes gets a little tangled but I've seen worse. I hope they can improve because the staff and nurses have potential :-) read more

I can't even believe I am wasting my time to write this, but I must let others understand that this is not the place you want to be going if you are looking for care, health care or just anyone who cares about anything. I never receive a call back about my questions regarding important issues... About medications that are way to strong, about my X-rays - blood tests... I never ever get results unless I actually GO in and ask... And then they act like "no one called..?" Wait a second I tried calling for a week after my tests...... And left many requests and messages asking to please call me. It would be nice to know I don't have ovarian cysts ... Thanks people..... The people who answer the phones are not helpful, I wish they had an automated service ... I would rather have a computer talking to me; this way I know my messages will get sent and my appointments are actually set up right. I called one afternoon asking for an appointment with my usual Doctor. A normal receptionist would ask"are you not feeling well/ or follow up?" Ect ... They ask" so why are you coming ?? What makes you think you have a sinus infection... What are your symptoms ??? That doesn't sound like a sinus infection..." Also the people who answer the phones tell me "YA, ILL SEE WHAT I CAN DO.." Because my doctor was out that day.(Friday) And it's already been two days with no call back.. My issue was URGENT.... And it still IS .. I will need to schedule an appointment for Monday and go in face to face just to say what I already said over the phone ,+ Pay my co-payment My request to switch back to my old meds because these new ones had bad side effects that are unbearable.... Pretty simple..... But "I'll see what I can do" at the front desk was not doing anything at all apparently ..... I am worried for the elderly and people who actually need good care. We live in Massachusetts; a state with the best hospitals in the world .... If you are able to drive yourself or have someone drive you to the Boston area : please do so and receive the best care you can get... Because Cape Ann Medical Center is an in-organized cluster of people who do not care about YOUR care, they care about those breaks and lunch time and then they are gone. One exception , Dr. Vo is awesome... Take this, and think about switching to a new facility. Your health matters .... Make it count ... read more

Mediocre medical advice... maybe one or two top notch doctors that actually know what they're doing or actually know what they're talking about... what really bothers me is still having to see the nurse practitioner if you're physician isn't available... had this happen and lo and behold the nurse actually tells me " I don't think we've met before..." when in actuality we have had previous appointments in the past... then to look through my medical history and barely know what she's talking about, and is training a fellow nurse... omg good luck to the future of this place... read more

I have spent the last year and a half battling some unnerving health issues. I went to see my physician Dr Doran and several assistance there. I was feeling a crawling sensation and sharp shooting pain throughout my entire body and was breaking out in massive rashes all over , they were severe rashes that left scars on my face arms, neck and legs. Dr Doran and her assistants believed this to be poison ivy. Keep in mind I get poison ivy in the summer but never to this severity. I thought it was a parasite or ms. My Physician seemed irritated with my quest to figure out what was going on with me While acting like this was in my head. She referred me to a dermatologist, Dr Marchione (worst bedside manners ever- super arrogant) in her network , he was incredibly rude and dismissive, just telling me these rashes were from something I put on my skin ignoring the crawling sensation and sharp pains I was experiencing. I then got an appointment with one of the top infectious disease doctors in Boston, however Dr Doran refused to give me a referral which I needed to see that physician, claiming that Lahey restricts them from giving referals outside of their network. So after seeing a naturopath and doling out $10,000. I finally discovered that my condition is Formication and other women in my family have had it. It is rare and it is a pre-menopausal condition that happens when estrogen levels drop and estrogen receptors over react because those levels are so low in turn affecting the nervous system. I actually discovered this through hours of research. The fix was a $20 dollar bottle of progestro, a combination of natural herbs. The condition usually only lasts between 1-2 years. I don't think doctors are as smart as they think they are. I don't have a medical degree yet I solved my own problem for a lot cheaper. Time to take your health back by putting it in your own hands. read more

Unprofessional Disorganised Inefficient Dr's we have used are satisfactory given there is not a lot of choice. However the administrative staff are completely incompetent and unprofessional. Appointment making disorganised and often kept waiting on phone. They never return calls. Dr Doran secretary is outstandingly arrogant and rude. I will no longer go to her as her secretary makes one feel like you shouldn't be there. read more

Went one time about a chronic condition for an initial evaluation. Got a 400 dollar bill in the mail for seeing a physician that wasn't listed as my primary care, got yelled at by the service lady for not changing the information but then wasn't given the full name of the doctor I was supposed to update my info to in order not to be billed for something they couldn't get a referral ... bla bla bla bla bla bla ... long story shorter: it was an enormous roundabout of phone calls and bills without any regard ( or help to ) my physical or mental health. Just try calling this place, it is a nightmare. You have to leave a message and they get back to you. Try calling and get an "out to lunch until 1" message even well after 1. Please up your game! Cost cutting should be second to providing good service, not the other way around! read more

I will not go back to this sad excuse for a medical center...ever. My first appointment was in December of 2015. I drove there for an important appointment in the middle of a blizzard in my honda accord...not to bad in snow but not all that great either. I tried to call to make them aware that die to the severity of the weather I'd be a few minutes late but no one picked up and I ultimately left a voicemail. I arrived FIVE minutes late.. FIVE MINUTES! I rushed And apologized expecting them to alllow a little leniency with all things "BLIZZARD" in mind. What the ride woman said next floored me. She informed me that the Dr. Was with the next patient as I was deemed to late to be seen and that I would be charged for this "missed" appointment. I quickly asked back of the Dr. Only intended on spending FIVE minutes with me as this would make a little more sense but was told no, "depends but your late and if you want to reschedule have a seat because I need to get these calls." I just turned around in disbelief. I did and up rescheduling and after meeting the staff behind the rude front desk lady's...like the Dr. And Nurse Practitioner I felt a bit better but not much. It was as if I was not given enough time to explain my symptoms and the very obvious ones were disregarded. I won't go back and they can eat their "missed appointment" Bill. I still continued to receive them faithfully ...right in the trash they go. Get it together people. read more
