I have to say I am quite impressed with the ER here. I had an emergency and I debated where to go - Salem, Beverly or Gloucester - which I never went to before. Salem is kind of like the beginning of 2004's Dawn of the Dead every night, so that was a no. Beverly, while good, is real busy and I had no intention of camping out all night. So I went to Gloucester and was pleasantly surprised. I was in and out in like 40 minutes - very impressive. Only issue I had was the person collecting my information when registering. She didn't listen to anything I said and all my info was wrong. I speak English clearly so she may have some comprehension issues. read more

I had a really HORRIBLE reaction to my second Covid vaccine shot. I was brought to their ER by ambulance, severely dehydrated after 6 hours of shaking, sweating and vomiting. The EMTs in the ambulance were great- I have no complaints about them. Upon my arrival in the ER, the nurse assigned to me was totally schizo- anytime I didn't comply with her demands to calm down, she immediately started yelling at me and threatening me that she would call security. I had NOT displayed any aggressive behavior. I was in the middle of a serious anxiety attack. Trouble breathing, dizzy when I tried to walk at all. I had been perfectly healthy in the days leading up to this. Someone decided to admit me for the night. The doctor assigned to me upstairs seemed to be smart, capable, and really cared about his patients. No complaints there. I spent 20 hours in this place, with at least 5 or 6 different nurses trying to start an IV just to give me fluids to rehydrate. THEY STUCK ME 11 TIMES AND WERE NOT ABLE TO START AN IV. A week later, I still have huge painful bruises everywhere they tried to start an IV. I look like a junkie. THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY'RE DOING!!! STAY AWAY!!! read more

I have to say the ER was terrific on The early hours in the morning. My mom was in the hospital for about five days. I have to say they were pretty good and everything and also the doctor had to call me for a med list which I don't have any idea why then he turns around and starts to talk to my mother's new primary care doctor, which, in fact, tells me that she never looked at my mother's med chart of what she does take. also, there is another medicine that was discontinued because the ER doctor told me to discontinue because it was too much allergy pills in her system that made her kind of loopy. I wish these doctors and nurses would look at the way he charted no exactly what's going on with the patient to scan through everything that has gone on with these people when they end up in the hospital. When it was time for me to bring my mom home she did not sleep at all last night so I had to bring her home sort of kind of groggy but thank God my nephew was there with me to help me bring my mom up to the house. also before she was discharged, she did have her lunch tray outside in the hallway and a cherry chair which I didn't mind at all but yeah, one of the CNA that worked on the floor just gave me a ginger ale and her pudding and took her meal away which, in fact, I don't understand why they did that they shouldn't let her eat. read more

Nurse said we could do two appointments here. One was blood drawing were we had to wait an hour which was enough time for another appointment I needed to get done. Proceeds to make the appointment at two different hospitals at the same time on the same day. Can't drive to Beverly, get an appointment, then come back in less then an hour. If you're that incompetent to SUGGEST making the appointments for convenience then go and screw it up that badly, resign. Another nurse even commented on how she really messed up because she didn't understand how that nurse could even schedule that with how the system is set up. Not to mention another nurse called weeks before saying my medical records were completely and correctly transferred from my original hospital, it was not. Now I am having to waste more time sitting and waiting on appointments because of staffs poor communication. They continually send me emails about signing me up for their MyChart yet can not provide me all the codes and information needed so I, as a patient, can sign up. Incompetent staff. It smells and air is heavy. Check in is confusing and difficult. Lab doesn't practice enough cleaning between blood draws. read more

If I could give it a zero I would !! Blood on the floor of my sons room - the Doc was literally on his phone reading / responding to text messages - said "got to make a phone call brb " 3 hours and 15 min later - came back in and said "so what's going on?" Umm my son got hit by a car "oh yea let's get a X-ray " "we did that" "ohh I'll brb" Ummm WHAT!??? My son needed to use bathroom - urine on both bathroom floors and not just "dribbles" I can't even tonight!! But the nurses I give them 10/10!! So thankful for them! read more

Stay away. I was put into an ER room with another man getting x-rays done instead of any other room. NOONE else was in the ER but I was still put into the same room with someone else. They gave me a blanket to wear to protect myself from the x-ray but noone else was in the room at that time... like why. Thats not even the worst part. I had an infection on my toe from a pedicure. Instead of being given any antibiotics, it was lanced and I was sent home. Three days later I spent three NIGHTS in the hospital because the infection climbed up my leg. Thank god I did go back to the ER and to another hospital. They also use medicines like the spay on numb medicine that is not used in any other hospitals.. I would make the drive to another hospital unless a complete emergency. read more

This hospital worth not even 1 star. This is the second time we visited this hospital emergency. First time, we waited for a doctor for 3 hours in emergency line. All they excused is that they were busy. They don't care how's patient feeling and left the patient more than 2 hours. And this time , the patient was very severe abdominal pain and he can't even stand up. But the nurse is so rude and unprofessional as she is supposed to bring the body weight scale, she asked the patient to walk to the room where the scale is located about 100ft. The patient even fell off. Also, even patient is almost dying in pain, stuffs in this hospital working like a slow poke. Too slow and step by step. Guess this city needs another hospital. read more

Once again this hospital is not worth a single star. They take forever to do anything. My mother is currently in there for a little bit now. I'd say about 4 hours. She's sick and has the flu and during this time (Covid-19) it's best to keep all your patients up to schedule. As I sit here waiting for an update about her health or how she's doing, the ladies at the front keep talking about their kids and husbands as if I haven't asked 3 times for my mothers update. I think this is by far the worst and trashiest hospital if I've seen one. This is the last time I will ever come here id rather die in my own home than get checked up on at this location. I would recommend going somewhere else. Please don't waste your time here, your health is more important than anything and here they will NOT help you. They are rude as well as lazy. read more

I am grateful that I have never had to stay overnight at AGH, but I have had lab work and physical therapy at the hospital, along with a visit to the ER. In my experience with these three different services at the hospital, everything was great. Staff are professional and responsive, care is good and waiting time has always been short or reasonable. In calling the hospital, it is easy to be connected to the right department and get answers promptly. Is it a specialty care facility? No, but as a community hospital serving Cape Ann, it is a valuable and convenient resource. read more

This hospital is a horror show. We were in the ER with our child and the nurses created all kinds of counterproductive drama. I've had previous awful experiences here and though I made formal complaints to management and spoke at length with the patient advocate, no corrective measures have been taken. This is one of the worst hospitals in the state, and we are considering selling our home and moving to a different community where there is a decent hospital. read more

i won't say what surgery i got there. but boy. these nurses were uber nice. the facility was mad clean. if only the nurses were younger and hotter. i felt like five mom's were taking care of me. my surgery was a success and if i get sick i would not hesitate to go there for treatment. My father went to ER having chest pains. They left him laying on a gurney in the hallway for three hours without anyone checking on him, no monitors, no EKG.. Frustrated he walked out. He died hours later that night of cardiac arrest. They knew he had history of cardiac issues and left him without any medical care for three hours. He called us after he left telling us he couldn't be seen and that he was heading back to Acton. I called Addison Gilbert to complain more than an hour and a half after he walked out and they didn't even know he had left? I was told it was a common occurrence for ER patients to walk out??? Are you kidding me???????? The most reckless & incompetent hospitals and staff I've ever run across. read more

She was so nice, her bedside manner was impeccable and she talked enough to make me temporarily forget about my pain. Emergency room employees have no form of urgency for their work. For being the only people in the emergency room, it took them 4 hours to tell us, in the short version, that "you're fine, go home." They treat you with no respect and degrade the patients. They care more about chatting about vacations or dates plans with their hubbys than to take care of people who are having trouble breathing. So if you want slow service and to watch a nurse eat pistachio ice cream instead of taking care of you, this is the place for you! I like my therapist, secretaries, the nurses and x ray staff at Addison Gilbert. But I do not like Dr. Munirih Yeshwant because I have road rash (mutliple abrasions) from slipping on sand when I went for a walk. I know nothing is wrong by the x ray but I am still sore. She did not care. She said it is just scrapes and that I can still go in and work. I told her I have a physical job as a home health aide. She is the worst ER doctor I have ever met. read more

If you need an ER visit, avoid Addison Gilbert at all cost. Nurses and doctors are rude and ignorant. They don't listen to what you're saying, and they make it very obvious that you are not a priority. I have dealt with this Er quite a few times and have always had the same opinion. Not to mention while you're sitting there waiting for 2+ hours because they're "busy" you can watch them all gather at the nurses station chatting and laughing with each other. Upon arriving in Gloucester I had had a stuffed up head for several days, I arrived on a Tuesday and on Wednesday I was getting a little dizzy when I stood, so on Thursday I decided to go to Urgent/Immediate Care here in Gloucester. No such thing, closest is 30 minutes away. So I ended up going to Emergency Room of the Gloucester Hospital, 3 hours later a doctor came into my little cubicle, looks in my ears, tells me I have a little infection, tells me to get this medication, take it for a week and all should be good. In the 3 hours of waiting no one checked in on me, I could have been dead , I wasn't! 2 hours into my stay I did go to the nurses station to ask if it was going to be much longer, before I asked my question I was told I shouldn't be out my cubicle, I interrupted and asked my question, the response was "The doctor will be here a 3!" So having been scolded I returned to my cubicle and waited for another hour! Great patient care? NO! Moral of the story: I should have driven the 30 minutes, I would saved time, plus seen another part of the area. read more

My daughter who is 18 ended up at AGH over the wknd and is currently waiting to be discharged after a 3 night stay. Only great things to say about the ER doctor and nurse.The NURSES on her floor Steele 1 have been FANTASTIC. But I can't say that for her docs. She is there alone because I have had to work. Today her doc comes in and she was telling him about her pain and he says " that's why your going to the docs office to be seen" Come on if you don't have a opthamologist on staff maybe you should have said that and we would have gone to a different hospital. Because none of the doctors since her stay have been able to tell her anything because they don't know anything about her EYE problem.Why have someone in your hospital when no one can help and there are no specialist on site. She is a scared young woman!! Next time I will drive the 20 mins to Beverly Hospital where I feel she would have been seen by a specialist. read more
