Claudia cleaned my bosses home- the house was pristine after the crew finished. I hired Caos to clean my empty apartment before I moved in. I paid extra to have them clean the windows and deep clean the sun room. They cleaned the windows and the utility closet per my request - I assume they mopped the floors but I can't be sure. The baseboards and cabinets were still dirty the - the sunroom had not been mopped and cleaned. I was so disappointed and felt completely taking advantage of! I am only giving CAOS three stars due to bookkeeping. This company does a wonderful job with cleaning and I would still be with them now if it wasn't for the mismanagement of their books. I would always get invoices months later that showed some ridiculous amount due. Then I'd have to move through all my bank statements and their online system to find the discrepancies...there were always discrepancies. After struggling with this for two years, I decided to leave them out of frustrations. If you're OK with staying on top of their bookkeeping then you would have yourself a really good cleaning service. read more

I unfortunately had a bad experience with CAOS and am further dismayed by the fact that my attempts to resolve the situation with the company were unsuccessful. I set up service with CAOS and instructed them that I would leave a key in an envelope taped to the door that they could have (they were coming within 15 minutes of when I left for work). When I returned home from work, the key was not there and I assumed they had retained it as instructed, because the cleaning had clearly been performed. It turns out that they had left the key taped to my door and sometime between them leaving and me arriving home it was stolen(?) or lost(?) or who knows what happened to it. As a result, I paid to change the locks on my door, which isn't cheap. I feel I made a good faith attempt to reach a resolution and continue the relationship with CAOS (which was a request for one discounted cleaning and I would continue my every-three-week service) but the response from the company blamed me and denied that I had even instructed them to take the key (I have that written in an email, so it's fairly undeniable). I am writing this review for the following reasons: (1) I don't take lightly that my key was possibly stolen by someone who has actual knowledge of where I live; and, (2) I would much rather give my money to a company that attempts to resolve problems, instead of completely denying them and blaming the customer, and you might prefer that too. read more

We have used CAOS now for 3 years in 2 different houses that we have lived in. They always do a great job and no one can beat their prices. Most importantly, the women that come in are very trustworthy: they have literally never touched any of the valuable items in the house except to clean them, when needed. They are always friendly when they enter and they are very consistent about coming at the same time every week. The very few times we have had any issues, we called or emailed and it was remedied immediately. Ok, so just a few days ago I wrote a scathing review about CAOS because they made a mistake...well, I'm here to update because they made it right. I went to my mailbox today, and imagine my surprise to see my check returned!! They did not cash the check for the cleaning of my apartment!!! I'm surprised, and a little torn about what I should do...I feel like I should send them another check so that their staff can at least get paid. I digress...important part of this review is that they made a mistake, I told them about it, and they did their best to fix the mistake - and FAST! I didn't even request a refund. This signals to me that they are honest and genuinely concerned about their customers experience. Go CAOS!! You have just made a customer for life!! Everyone makes mistakes, but what a different world it would be if everyone owned up to them. read more

We have used CAOS twice so far - once for a deep clean and we've just started our regular housecleaning service. They have been WONDERFUL! During the deep clean the team was incredibly thorough. I didn't entirely know what to expect and was so impressed. They got under beds, took up the carpets, went through cupboards, you name it, and really, I mean really cleaned. And for the regular service they still cleaned in a way that our previous service did not. The women (so far the teams have been women) have been very polite and professional. In terms of scheduling, the first cleaning was quick to set up, and it's very easy to pay online. We got on their regular schedule immediately. As a law student with limited free time, I finally broke down and decided to hire a cleaning service. I picked CAOS because of the positive reviews, and I'm absolutely glad I did. The results are FANTASTIC. My initial deep clean was yesterday, and although the price was steep ($140 to clean my 568 square foot studio apartment in DC), they did an incredible job. Not only did the two girls take care of the standard dusting / vacuuming / wiping things down, but they even cleaned and organized the contents of my drawers and cabinets! There were also smaller touches that I really appreciated. The girls provided their own cleaning supplies, dusted under my bed and furniture, and even folded the end of the toilet paper into a triangle (hotel style). Good job, CAOS! Although appointments are primarily coordinated online, the woman who answers the office number (Claudia?) is incredibly helpful and friendly. When the staff was a little late to show up (estimated between 12:00 and 1:00PM, arrived around 2:00PM), she happily inquired into their whereabouts and informed me that they'd be there within five minutes. I've arranged for CAOS to clean my apartment every two weeks, and am looking forward to my next appointment! A word of note: Of the two girls who came to clean my apartment, only one could understand English (and that too, not much). I speak Spanish, so this wasn't much of a problem for me, but it may be a problem for others. read more

This is an update to a review I did last year. CAOS had been cleaning my condo for about a year and the service just kept going down, down, down. After about a year, they still just throw dishes in whatever drawer is close by without putting pans with pans, knives, with knives, etc. While the "big" things are always clean - carpets vacuumed, beds made - little crevices near the bathtub or grime near the trash can - show me they don't do a thorough job every time. Also, in the year they've cleaned for us we've had one lamp broken, one necklace broken and one mug broken. Things happen, but sheesh. I've canceled my service with them. read more

Unlike many other businesses of this type. the manager speaks good English, so you have no problem communicating with them. Also, main communication with them is by email and I love that! We went ahead and set-up a deep clean for our large-ish condo. We have two cats and a dog and all three shed hair like it's going out of style. I have been battling it myself every weekend, usually ending with frustration and the house being covered again the next day. The CAOS team came in, spent three hours, and made our house look better than it ever has. They organized our closets, under the sink (a place I had just resigned to being a blackhole), our shoe rack, and even re-arranged our little sitting area in our bedroom to make it more functional. UNRELIABLE. DI made an appointment for a move-out clean 4 weeks in advance. I took off work on a Monday so I could be home to let them into my home. The morning of the service, I called to confirm the time and they said they didn't have me on the schedule. No record of my appointment. CAOS cleaning came recommended to me by a friend of mine and so I hired them to clean my house. 400 dollars for the initial "deep" clean and then a negotiated price of 90 dollars a week, and my home still was not cleaned at the standard that they committed to. Initial good impressions at first, but every time they came to clean, there was always something that was missed or just not cleaned at all. When I talked to the owner about it, they told me its not their problem. Not sure how this other feel about them but I have had a terrible experience and a very costly one. Unreliable and dishonest. CAOS came highly recommended by a friend and we hired them to manage cleaning for a short-term rental property. The first 2 cleans were satisfactory; I can't say they did an incredible job but everything was as it should be. The third time they came there were multiple questionable things -- a used washcloth left in the shower, a stack of random plates on the dining room table, things on the floor that should have been swept up. I spoke with Claudia and she completely stonewalled me -- "My husband was there with the cleaners, everything was perfect when they left, etc. etc." I had not walked through the apartment while they were there so I had to give them the benefit of the doubt that perhaps someone with access to the apartment had randomly showered and left a washcloth. It seems so ludicrous now. At any rate, they came once more and things were just fine. The fifth clean they showed up a few minutes before our guest was due to check-in and of course her check in was delayed until they were done. We refunded the guest's cleaning fee. When I spoke to Claudia about discounting the cleaning for us she again completely stonewalled me, and this time made it apparent that either she or her cleaners are dishonest. She claimed they had arrived at 2:10 for a 3pm check-in -- basically the latest time they could have arrived and gotten everything done on time. When I patiently explained that this was not the case, that the owner was at the property and that her cleaners had only arrived a few minutes before 3 she reiterated her version of events. I insisted that we would only pay them half of the cleaning fee and she fired us as clients: "We won't be able to work for you anymore." Our friend who recommended them has had other problems with them and thinks they have gotten too big and therefore cocky. Cocky is one thing but lying to your customers and not being willing to accommodate them when they are out money for your error is a big problem. There are a huge number of house cleaners in DC, hardworking honest people who charge reasonable rates and do a great job. Take your business elsewhere than the aptly named CAOS. read more

These ladies were amazing. They showed up just a few minutes after the scheduled time, and got right to work. In just under three hours, they had completed the "deep clean" of our one-bedroom apartment, which really needed a deep clean, especially the tile floors throughout, all the little nooks and crannies that get neglected, and dust on bookshelves and other piles of junk. We are the type of people that really only do superficial cleaning (wash the dishes, sweep occasionally) and have been living in the apartment for almost three years. So suffice it to say there was a fair amount of grime. Nevermind that I've been pregnant for 9 months and had even less desire than usual to clean. I purchased the "deep clean" for $160 as a treat before the baby arrives next week. The job they did was incredible. Everything was sparkling. The inside of the oven, the fridge, the floors were spotless, the bathroom looked better than it did when we moved in. They cleaned under our stacks of books on various tables and really made the place feel calm, organized and serene. After they left I had already decided to leave them a glowing review. My friend was over in the afternoon and happened to open the microwave and noticed that it had not been cleaned. I shrugged it off and figured it must not have been on their list of things to do. It did not affect my satisfaction at all. BUT THEN. 6 hours later I get a call from the guy from the company asking me if I'm home. When I say yes, he tells me that they're outside and can I let them in because they realized they forgot to finish cleaning the microwave--they sprayed stuff in there but never wiped it down. I told him it was no big deal but he insisted that they wanted to do the job right. So the lady comes in and cleans the microwave in less than 5 minutes. If that's not great customer service, I don't know what is. I suspect I will be using them again before too long. read more

They were often late or occasionally surprisingly early without a warning call. CAOS was great for over a year----sometimes they came late in the day, but they always came when they said and did a pretty good job cleaning and nothing came up missing. Then, one day, the CAOS staff failed to pick up the check that I left to pay for the cleaning. Since then, I've hated the fact that I ever had them into my apartment. I've gotten multiple incorrect invoices with the wrong price and the wrong dates, making it difficult to mine my records to show that I paid. I've had multiple email exchanges with the owner and various other management staff about the missed payment and about their failure to show up for a requested cleaning. On two different occasions, I requested a move-out cleaning and both were simply ignored---radio silence, which did not allow me to set up another move-out cleaning. I have used this company a number of times when I am moving out of an apartment and they worked magic. I recently hired them to do a standard cleaning, twice a month and I cannot say enough good things about the company and the work ethic. When you sign up for a periodic cleaning contract, they do require an initial "deep clean" and it is worth it!!! They emptied and cleaned all of my cabinets, drawers, microwave, fridge, and freezer. The house is gleaming and I simply cannot say enough good things. I have used a number of cleaning companies, all of which have done a "superficial" clean. That is not the case here. I contacted Claudia after reading about CAOS here in Yelp and I was pleasantly surprised. We arranged everything through e-mail and her crew was there on time and the deep clean was wonderful. There was some small problems getting to my building, as the doorman had left and I was in a place without mobile reception, but when I came back all had been dealt with.
