These guys are quite shady, They made several appointments with me, however, always had an "emergency" "Car wont start", "car leaking oil", "gone to Victoria", i was kind of left with no other options after weeks of delay because i was now in a rush to get the work done. He completes the work but left the place in a mess (ceiling tiles left all over) said he would return with a switch i paid him for and he also took some of our older machines and offered to sell them and split the money with me. I should have known. Excuses start again, twisted back, xrays, etc... In the end I never got the switch i bought from him he wouldn't return the machines he took from me, and turned into a complete ass when i tried to get my money back for the switch i never received. I definitely would not recommend anyone use Canway Technology. read more

These guys run a small company installing phone lines and cables in new or used homes. Maybe they do some other stuff also?? I have always wondered why a company needs to place an ad on Kijiji every other day. Service was relatively fast. Ian made a big point to explain to me that they charge $80 per line to run, unlike other companies who may charge by the hour (many to not I have discovered). He also told me it would be no problem to move my router from the top floor to the basement. Two of them came over and ran a 5' network cord from the panel to the room immediately above it. (around a supporting beam). Problem was their battery was dead so they had to pass the time until it charged up. At least an hour. They finally managed to drape two 15' cords across an unfinished ceiling to an interior wall through the same end point (Phone + CAT5) in the room directly above in the middle of a wall so it was very easy. One hole through a centre floor and one through the drywall. They did not use any boxes - just screwed the jacks right into the drywall. They put it in crooked also even after I told them I am very fussy and please do an exceptional job. They didn't have much in the way of parts so they just cut the Telus high speed internet line from one of my other jacks where the router used to be so they could try and hook it up elsewhere somehow. They could not get the router working. Spent 4 hours here trying to get things hooked up. At the end, he asked me if I thought $300 was a fair price and I told him it was fine, even though they could not get the Telus up and running 100%. At times I did have the equivalent of a 15.2K modem but no TV, email or IP Phone. At this point I just wanted them out of here - they were annoying me. I started writing out a check. He told me they did not accept checks or credit cards - only cash, and pretty much stood over me until I had sent the money to his bank account by electronic funds transfer. He promised to get my stuff up and running properly the next day because he had a buddy that worked for Telus. The next day, Saturday turned to Monday. On Monday he text me that he was in a bad car accident and while he felt fine, they were insisting he go to the hospital so he couldn't make it. Tuesday he texted me to see if he could come over when Telus was here. I declined. I had already booked Telus in to finish what he started and they were coming Wednesday. After 4 days of black-out Telus came and hooked his three wires up and got things running again. Here is my beef. The job was very easy. They charged extra for work they did not complete, charging their battery and learning on the job - almost double what they quoted. I would definitely not use Canway Technology again. I think their intentions were good but at the end they ended up ripping me off. I NEVER work with CASH ONLY companies and especially when they put me on the spot like that, without even disclosing it before hand. Next time anybody tells me they only accept cash I will tell them to take a hike. It says a whole lot about how they operate. read more

BUYER BEWARE. I asked Ian Mostowy to upgrade my iMac's OS and swap out the hard drive for an SSD. I sent him the money via etransfer May 7, 2019. I received a text from him on May 9, 2019 saying that he had broken the screen on the iMac trying to replace the hard drive. He immediately offered to fix the screen for free and said he had ordered one. As I had to use the computer for my business, I took it back home with a damaged screen and without the hard drive being replaced. For the next 8 months, and after many excuses (in hospital, surgery[ies], out of town, ordered and lost screen, ordered and lost SSD, lost keys to shop, clients not paying bills) I was finally able to convince him to pay me back for the hard drive on Nov 26, 2019. However, as of today, Mar 28, 2020, I have not seen any promised compensation for the screen he broke. BUYER BEWARE Very unprofessional to deal with. I made an appointment with Ian to install a program on my computer which he told me would take 30 to 45 minutes. After multiple appointment changes, we did meet up and he was in such a hurry to leave that after 20 minutes he complained about my computer, said that it was too slow and that he would leave me to finish the install, the install finished as soon as I put the laptop on wi-fi and he said that it didn't need to be hooked up to the wi-fi. When I ran into problems later trying to install the language packs that are required to use the program he told me that I was trying to rip him off and find an excuse not to pay him and that they only way that this was going to work is if he could take my $2000 Mac Powerbook home with him to clean it up. I met the guy at Starbucks and found him on Kijiji there is no way that I am giving him my computer, but he kept forcing the issue, got nasty and told me that he blocked the serial number on the program. He was jumpy, strange and tried to tell me that he got a strange vibe from me. My husband and I are educated professionals who showed up to meeting him wearing suits after work, he came in grubby clothing and brought a chatty friend. I would avoid thinking that you are going to save a buck by using him and just get it done right the first time. read more
