We have been here a couple of times and the wait was not bad this time around this place tends to get packed very fast and the wait times are very long but worth it in my opinion. They have a really cute area upstairs area that they open sometimes and a little patio as well, the vibe is fun and they really like to celebrate someone on their birthday which we love! It comes with bulbous grilled green onions and grilled jalapeños! The restaurant is quite bustling and loud and the tables are crowded and always full, I love the lively atmosphere but when there's music playing you have to shout a tad. I lived in chicago 10 years ago, and my family loved going to El Nuevo Leon, it seems the placed got burned down some years ago , but the sons of the owners decided to open up this restaurant at the same location and the same concept. It seems this is a very popular spot, we went there on a monday night and it was full. Ambiance 10/10: This is as close as you can get to an authentic mexican restaurant environment in the U.S. Music was enjoyable and it was at a volume where you can listen it to it, but at the same time you dont have trouble talking. Cocktails/food: 9/10 Everything was incredible, we ordered the sabinas tacos and they were one of the best tacos ive tried. The only reason i did not gave it 10/10 is because i would expect from a mexican place like this to jave the tortillas freshly made there and they were not (but they were good). Service: 10/10 we got seated very quickly, food came fast and was warm. Servers were very attentive to us. Parking: 7/10 it is on the street. The ambiance is on point; super cozy and tasteful decor. The service was amazing from entry until leaving. The hostess was super sweet and got our party of 6 seated with a minimal wait. Our server Adrian was super attentive and on it with his service. He was bringing more of what we need before we even had to ask. The food was super tasty. The chips and salsa came out pretty fresh, one of the green ones was my favorite, but a bit watery. The guac was fresh, but we ended up adding some salsa and lime to the guac to enhance the flavor. BEWARE IF YOU ARE VEGETARIAN!!! Hardly any vegetarian options, my dad and I got the chicken fajitas and my mom got the vegetarian fajita. The chicken fajitas were good! The beans and rice were nicely seasoned, the tortillas were warm and fresh (I liked corn better), and the chicken was cooked well. We did not try the steak, but many other people had ordered that as well. The vegetarian fajitas were average per my mom. Ambiance- it was pretty loud and very busy! We have been going to this place since they opened. Food is good, service too, however the last few times we have been there, the bill hasn't been adding up to the menu prices. First time it happened, I brought it up to the waiter and he was very surprised he took the handwritten receipt back to the cashier and after a while brought the correct change. Second time I went with two friends, bill was wrong again but since I was the only one who seemed to notice, I didn't bring it up. Last time I only went because my daughter was craving their flour tortillas. I told her let's watch the bill! Sure enough, bill was higher than expected. I've been coming to Canton Regio for years. While living on 18th and Ashland, I would smell all the grilled delights when their patio was open on a warm summer's day. The interior is festive and chic, with warm colors and excellent quality. All of their grilled items are amazing, and I would most definitely recommend their skewers. Cantón Regio is perfect for groups, and most of their dishes are family-style. This is one of the few spots where I would get food to go and it's still good. My favorite item on the menu is their Ribeye. It's always seasoned well and juicy. The Ribeye is served with rice, beans, onions, a scorching Jalapeño pepper, and your choice of Flour or corn tortillas, which makes a fantastic combination of flavors if you decide to make yourself a taco. If I had a hard work day and didn't feel like cooking, I would treat myself to A Ribeye from Canton Regio. I have always been greeted by pleasant and attentive wait staff. I can't recall ever having to wait for a seat despite their popularity, and the main reason I always go back to this place is their consistency. I will note they are cash only, but they have an ATM on site, which charges a small fee. So if you are in the Pilsen area and want an excellent Ribeye steak with a Mexican twist, I recommend Cantón Regio. Based on my overall experience with them, five stars read more

I've been wanting to come here for a very long time. Especially after seeing their "kilo" that they offer. But since we can't dine in, I'd rather come back and try that when we're able to take a seat. So I just ordered some carne Asada tacos for now. They treated us like if we were in their home while we waited for our food to finish cooking. They gave us water and gave us their complimentary potatoes & eggs taco and some water. A very welcoming touch. The Asada tacos were very delicious, but was disappointed when they were served plain, with a side of lettuce and tomatoes. Where the heck is the cebolla u cilantro? Yo! ***COVID Review*** Takeout This was the second to last stop on my personally curated walking food tour with bae. It was honestly the most disappointing in terms of safety and precautions. The staff wore masks, but only a few folks had on gloves. The space felt cramped and claustrophobic with the amount and guests and staff; there were just too many people inside for my comfort. And they only take cash which is an issue for me beyond cleanliness. Thank goodness we were getting our tacos to-go. We ordered one of each option. Its a steakhouse so of course we got carne asada. The first were supposed to be street style with onion and cilantro but didn't come with either, but the carne asada tasted fine. The second (pictured), came with cheese, onion, and peppers on what looked like housemade flour tortillas. I didn't try them because my bf ended up taking them home, but he said, and I quote, they were lit! My favorite spot to eat a medium well marinated flank Monterrey style! In the heart of Pilsen area there is this not so big but awesome Mexican restaurant! It is my usual spot when I'm in Chicago because this is the only place within 4 states that has this unique marinated flank, flour tortillas (not from wholesale stores) and real charro beans. Be prepared to wait about 30-40 minutes if you arrive later than 1pm but it will be worth it! No alcohol is sold inside but you can bring your own there is a liquor store like 4 doors away. We were a group of 5 people and we add just one guacamole and it was enough but if you are very hungry ask for flan or tres leches cake it was delicious! And the kitchen looks like it's completely engulfed in flames, which results in an out-of-this world, wood-fired meat paradise. It's obnoxiously loud with Mexican music blaring from what seems like very low-end boom boxes strategically placed everywhere, plus tons of large parties celebrating all kinds of special occasions, but I don't care. The service is okay-ish, the restaurant is not spectacularly fancy or even comfortable for that matter with it's impractical small round "rustic" (aka bumpy/uneven) tables all pushed together, but I don't care. I'm like an animal when it comes to eating here bc the Arrachera (skirt steak) is that good. AND the fried cheese is also a must. Shrimp tacos were also really good. Ordered the chicken skewers and tacos Sabina's to try something different. The skewers lacked seasoning were chewy and tough.
