First time there- as you walk in there is no sign that states " wait to be seated". So we just stood by the entrance, at least 4 different waiters made eye contact with us but not one word. It would of been nice if someone atleast said .. Someone will be right with you. Eventually a lady without uniform comes and seats us. Came here with my boyfriend who is from NL so we were excited to support this Mexican restaurant with Northern Mexico influences I ordered the "skirt steak" tacos and my boyfriend ordered the tacos Sabinas. The tacos I ordered tasted like regular taco meat on a regular milagro tortilla. Similar to what you would find at any other taco spot, but the Sabinas tacos were really good quality meat (rib eye and other meats) super tender on what I believe to be home made flour tortillas. This was my second time here and it didn't disappoint. We found parking on the side street. It was busy when we walked in but was seated right away. Majority of the tables were round so if you had a group of 4 or more they would put two round tables together. I think the round tables may have been a thought so more seating in the restaurant. But nonetheless we didn't have to worry. Chips and salsa, always a good free munchie! The chips were warm and 3 different salsas were given. Green salsa - a bit spicy but the right amount of heat for me. Red salsa a little less heat but good as well. Pico de Gallo with cactus - this was mild but my favorite. I mixed the red and green salsa to tame down the spiciness. We almost finished the basket. Then out came our skewers. They were hot and inviting. So tender and flavorful with the right amount of seasoning. The meat was tender and the small size tortillas made every bite tasty and wanting more. I would even just make a taco with the grilled peppers and onion. They do a great job. Then we had the Sabinas Tacos with grilled skirt steak. This time the tacos were filled more than last. The meat, beans and cheese all melted together when you bite into it. This would be a nice takeout meal. Not sure if it's the start of the holiday but the wait was out the door again. Came here looking forward to having some menudo early on a Sunday morning and was told they ran out. Two minutes later two tables next to mine were served menudo. When I asked the server and owner what happened they just shrugged their shoulders and walked away. Service was horrible, the hot chocolate was clearly powder mix not authentic Abuelita chocolate. I called and asked for the manager, I talked to Daniel and told him I asked for well done meat and it was very under cooked and he had a terrible attitude. I get he couldn't do anything unless I brought it in but his attitude was uncalled for. Not once did he offer an apology for the mishap. I'm by midway I was not about to go back. This pains me to write this, but well Canton Regio needs to figure some things out. I like the BYOB aspect but by not having a bar it gets VERY crowded. We went in on Friday , 2/21/20 for supper and came in at 8:30. We were told a 30 minute wait, okay cool it's a weekend. At 9:10 we were told it would be another 30-35 minutes because they were busy with parties. Now that is where I get irritated. We waited for 40 minutes crammed up front and then were told another 30-35 minutes, not cool. If you don't take reservations, you can't give all your tables away to 3 large parties and every else can kick rocks. Not good business at all. I hate writing negative reviews but that is just bad practice. So we left after an hour plus of waiting. I may go back, may not. This left a bad taste in my mouth. read more

After much debate I ventured out to this place to try the " carne asada " which is the signature item that brings in the people . I was surprised at how good it was along with a great presentation. The food is amazing!! The arrachera meat is delicious! Soft and tender and juicy! The beans that comes with it Are delicious too!! We ordered a side of rice that's really good too! The cost of it is very reasonable too. This restaurant even has their own parking lot which is amazing for it being in Pilsen on 28th street! My only critic is they need to improve in their seating system.. it's horrible.. we have to wait over an hour and then when we come they tell us another 30 minutes. I think the restaurant is small for the amount of clientele. Even the tables are very close to each other. I waited about 20 mins to get a table for 3, the food was great, we had pollo asado and tacos de asada, however, I was planning to get the flan for dessert. My husband and I were waiting for the waiter to come back so I could order my dessert, when he finally came, he brought our tab and walked away. No "thank you" "is there anything else you need?" Absolutely zero words. So we just paid and left, I had lost my desire for dessert after that. I found the service to be so cold and definitely rushed. I understand people may stay a while because in the menu it notes that there is a 2hr max and will charge $100 per any additional hour after that, but come on, no need to be so cold with customers. This is my 3rd and final time here. I have ordered the same thing the last couple of times and it has been inconsistent. I usually order the ribeye and this last time it was overcooked. I suggested to a group of friends that we come here. We came in on a Tuesday for a late lunch and had no problems being seated. The music was extremely loud and a door near our table was opened to the basement and let in a terrible draft. We drove 45 minutes to this place and as we are waiting to be seated the host take us to the table. Same person took our order therefore I thought she was the server not the host. Once we receive our food we asked for other side orders and at that precise moment the person told us, she isn't a server. We were never asked by anyone else if we needed anything that's why we kept asking that same person for what we needed. To top off our experience, we partially received our order and the fact that I found a strip of plastic in my food. The lady apologized and said she wasn't a server and that's the reason she partially brought our food and that the plastic came from the bag of beans. At the end when we were lying another lady that we hadn't seen while we ate, dare to tell us that gratitude wasn't included in our bill, my intentions were to leave no tip for such an awful experience and since we didn't have a server. Finally made it back to Pilsen and was excited to try. The food was great and reasonably priced. The service was subpar. The server never brought us salsa and being it was our first time we assumed they didn't have any, only to see the table next to us get some right away. By now we were done eating. Biggest issue is when it comes time to pay the tab. Server must be really bad at math, it wasn't adding up, even after I asked and was told it included gratuity for our table of 2 adults and 2 kids. Everything is hand scribbled on a paper check and it doesn't add up. Gratuity added was over 20%. The space is pretty crammed and they have weird round tables and massive chairs so the seating is uncomfortable and awkward. Music is played really loud and again, add the bad service and although the food is good, probably won't be back. read more

Omg this is possibly one of the best places in Chicago! The staff are insanely helpful, attentive and friendly no matter how busy they are...and they are CRAZY busy! We never needed a thing..even water! Great atmosphere, affordable prices, large portions, delicious food and most importantly flavorful/delicious food!! Started with homemade chips and 3 types of salsa. SO GOOD! Moved on to fundido dip with homemade flour tortillas (definitely recommended) for $8. Large portion and probably best Ive had...it was fun indeed-o! Main feast was a half kilo beef and the skewers...we got one of each, steak, chicken and shrimp. Came with beans that the fiancee loved. Meat was cooked perfect, explosive with flavor, large pieces and good cuts. All seasoned well also! The kilo was fantastic especially if you like onions. Would definitely order again. Restaurant is byob. For $60 we had a lot of delicious food and cannot come here soon enough again. The staff really makes this place also...huge shout out to them!
