So I've been on an endless quest for good Chinese food throughout the Portland area. I have tried so many and usually leave with mixed results. Last night, we tried Canton Phoenix at the Wilsonville location. It is not a restaurant., It's more of a bar, but they have a takeout station where you pick up. We ordered three items, barbecued pork appetizer, chicken with mixed vegetables with white steamed rice, and beef lo mein. Everything was excellent. After years of trying different places I'm very happy to go get it at the takeout window, And take it home. There is also a sit down location in Tigard. We will try that next, but everything was fantastic and those are three simple items that they cooked, we're done perfectly. We will add to our entrées and appetizers next time. I got the lunch special Mushroom Chicken, all lunch specials come with a scoop of BBQ fried rice, 2 wonton crab, and an veggies egg roll. It's standard in quality, nothing stands out. It was more chicken than mushroom for me. It was most 3 whole mushroom sliced. If you prefer more protein, it'd be a good deal for your bucks, $10.50 for lunch special. Interesting setup with video lottery machine and their noises, multiple average size TV, and music station plays in the background. I waited for my order for over an hour. Like many other people around. Why do you take on orders you can't handle? What's wrong with you?

Place has gone downhill last few days. Told under new management and service has been terrible. 30 minutes before contacted by server and I was the only person there. Tonight took over 30 minutes to get my food but people arriving after me got theirs. Told they had no explanation. I will no longer recommend this place. Sad. read more

ok here is the scenario, I get take out quite a bit there and today I called in and they said we can't do orders unitil two (2:00) when the owners show up so I waited till two and called in no answer and after 4 tries, ten minutes later I get them to answer thinking they would take my order. NOPE the owners still had not arrived and it might be another 20 minutes till they arrive. I made a special trip to Wilsonville so I could get the take out. Very disappointed not a way to run a business. While the food has always been good it seems like other services seem to be sliding and becoming erratic. A disapointed customer. At first walking in I thought we were in the wrong place, looks like a neighborhood bar. The food was excellent, hot and made fresh to order with better than expected flavors. The bar tender (Meghan) was our server and she was very friendly and attentive. Will definitely be back!! read more

This is a hard one for me to rate. I got takeout and did not eat in. Was picking up some pork fried rice and beef & broccoli. The beef and broccoli was very good and received thumbs up from my daughter who is pretty darn picky. I thought. the beef was very tender. The pork fried rice was good. My daughter was not crazy about it, but again I liked it. When I picked it up I surveyed the interior. It was kinda just ok. Nothing special. It was a Friday night and only two tables of guests. Overall, from the small order I got it was good. Still, Wilsonville does not have a great Chinese restaurant. Pretty much the consensus when I asked on a local Wilsonville FB group after we moved to Wilsonville. I may try this place again and will update review when I do. read more

I have ordered from Canton Phoenix many, many times. I get it delivered. Never been disappointed. Until now. This time I was so disappointed I had to post my experience. My order was for War Wonton soup and Crab Puffs. Crab puffs were cool. Typically they're hot. Other than that they were good. I noticed the soup broth looked odd. Lacking in color. Looked like dishwater. The taste confirmed that it was almost flavorless. And questionable. Also, cooler than usual. I preordered and wonder if that's a problem. I was under the weather and craving wonton soup so a postmates order was necessary... I've had canton phoenix a few times before but this time it was the best Chinese I've had in a very long time. They were out of the wonton soup but the shrimp vegetable soup was equally as good and soothing for my sore throat. The garlic broccoli was the best dish and the chicken lo mein was free with a minimum order and delicious as always... the bbq pork and lo mein are always my go to's but I'm glad I tried a couple new dishes that were great! Yes it may be a little spendy but worth it for the super fresh ingredients and none of that mushy, sticky salty gel that's in other Chinese food. Ordered curbside pickup for the first time yesterday! I was pleasantly surprised with the food quality and taste! I understood why they detailed white chicken meat for their dishes, it is cooked perfectly, texture and sauce wise. The rice was cooked deliciously and it was a fair amount of prawns in their prawn fried rice. Packaged in reusable containers is also a plus for us! read more

The parking lot was a little tight for early evening. The staff is polite and friendly. Poo poo platters are good. The number 6 combination plate with Mongolian beef was delicious, great fried shrimp large and succulent, good fried rice. They have improved over the last year. Four stars is based on takeout only and may be slightly generous, but since decent Chinese food is very hard to find around here, I think they earned it. I wasn't optimistic about this place, and have avoided it for a long time since I assumed it would be another place catering to uneducated palates (aka Chinese food for White people). Man, was I pleasantly surprised to be wrong! Not the best Chinese food I've ever had, but easily the best I've had in South Metro suburbs. I wish their delivery area was a little wider--I'm just a couple miles away, but they don't deliver to my house. I ordered beef chow fun, pot stickers, and one of the combo meals that gave us several appetizers along with fried rice, a spicy beef dish, and spicy chicken dish. Pot stickers were very good; liked having the option of how they were cooked (steamed, pan fried, or deep fried). Chow fun was ok--dry; think I should've ordered a different version with more sauce. The appetizers were tasty (deveined shrimp, thank you), portions were reasonable, and I really don't have any complaints other than nothing was actually spicy (but that's a very individual thing that's easily remedied). I spent $50 and two of us ate too much for two meals. I'd say that's value. I'll order again. I look forward to trying more dishes and hopefully dining in the restaurant soon. read more

For quick and affordable Chinese food this restaurant has an excellent chef. The fried foods were cooked in clean oil (didn't taste like some other fried food) and didn't have huge amounts of batter hiding a small product inside. The cocktail sauce and hot mustard for the shrimp were both delicious and so much nicer to have them already in little containers rather than having to squeeze out of a packet. The pork was moist and neatly placed in the box with a nice sauced and sesame sprinkled slice on top. The Kung pao chicken was equally arranged with a pepper on top as if to remind of its spiciness. So I tried this place for the first time today. And for point of reference it will be the absolute last time! They advertise that they have a buffet and really what it is is kind of a makeshift Mongolian Grill. That is the highlight of the place! I came in at 7 o'clock p.m. and for the first 15 minutes it was German techno Punk blasting through the restaurant. There was only myself and a family and another booth. I came in because they advertise that they had a buffet and after the Mongolian Grill type set up where you pick your noodles your meeting your vegetables you have your choice of appetizers. The sweet and sour Ben was empty, the oyster sauce had gelled , and everything was completely old. I picked up a few piece of chicken for sweet and sour chicken that was so tough and chewy it was ridiculous. I've been into a pot sticker where the pork inside was Stone Cold! The crab puffs were crunchy and cold inside also. I reported to the waitress and she went to the owners or the cooks and told them and you would have think that I declared war on somebody. All the kitchen staff came pouring out of the kitchen and headed to the buffet with thermometers. After paying the $15 to eat at a buffet they gave me two potstickers with no sauce and two wontons. Both items or so overcooked that they completely crunched all the way through and I burn my tongue period The food quality was so poor that I am actually going to call the Department of Health in the morning which will be a first in my long history of going to restaurants. And for those of you are wondering, no I did not eat the other pot sticker after accidentally biting into the ice cold first one. On a Saturday around 2pm. I was hungry, late for lunch, and just had an exhausting trip to Fry's. I asked Siri where the nearest Chinese food was. She sent me to Canton Phoenix. Upon entry there was a little awkwardness. There was clearly a buffet, but I was handed a menu, I asked about the buffet but received no response. So I figured I was supposed to order from the menu. I selected a lunch special. Again more awkward as the waitress's first reaction was that there is no lunch special on Saturday. Which contradicted what was printed in the menu. To her credit, she double checked, it was OK, and she put in my order. There were only a couple of couples in the restaurant this late, but while I waited it became apparent they were all doing the buffet. Kinda like a Mongolian Buffet where everyone was selecting fresh ingredients which the cook would then prepare. To be fair I didn't try the buffet or really see the choices on it. However, at this point I fretted that the buffet was a better choice than ordering off the menu. So I prepared for a mediocre to bad experience. Then I was quickly served a very tasty egg drop soup. Which was followed pretty quickly by my lunch special. It was fresh, tasty, delicious, healthy and a much larger serving than I expected or could eat. It was so good, and the price was quite reasonable! The rice was perfect! I don't got to Wilsonville that often; however, I will make a special trip just to go back! Canton Phoenix has egg flower soup without peas! Since I'm allergic to them, this is my favorite place to get egg flower soup. They also have great crab wontons. I'm at the point now that the waiter recognizes me and I can have a take out order in a matter of minutes. I've also eaten at the restaurant (sit down) and the service is great. The buffet is cool in that you choose everything you want and take it to the window and they cook it together for you. Also, since my coworker cared about this, there's a table with a lazy Susan. Tasty to go order! I ordered off the yelp! Eat24 app. It was easy to order and when I got to the restaurant it took just a couple minutes past the estimated pickup time. But it was worth the wait. The pan fried dumplings are delicious as is the Mongolian beef, sweet and sour chicken and fried rice. You can eat in, order to go or have it delivered. I was surprised that inside they still had the do it yourself, stainless steel bowl, "Mongolian BBQ" style available. With this extensive menu, I would recommend you forgo that option and order from their new menu. I hope this new management will make it as it is a plus to Wilsonville to have this option. The bad reviews are mostly from people who ate in the restaurant. I think they are going through a learning curve. Be patient and encouraging and I think we will have a gem in our midst. Food is good. The inside gives me weird vibes but we usually only order to go or for delivery so it doesn't matter. I hate writing negative reviews, but this restaurant was an all around disappointment. We walked in and were seated at a table. The hostess provided us with water and menus. We were never asked for a drink order. Several minutes later a gentleman came out and asked for our food order. Our food was delivered and then we had no one approach our table ever again. We had to get up and find someone to ask for our bill. Not only was the service bad, but the food was bad too. Everything tasted exactly the same and everything was OVERLY breaded.
