Spicy chicken
Paul M.

For the price, portion size, and quality of the food, this is the best teriyaki spot in my area. It is very reasonably priced, and in my experience, when the price is good, something else is usually lacking--but not here. The menu is large with plenty of options. My favorite dish is the spicy chicken, but the lunch special is also a great deal. The rice, chicken, and veggies are always fresh. The service is great. If you go during lunch, it is packed, but they still keep things moving. They are always polite and provide fast service. The ambiance is typical of a chicken teriyaki place. It appears clean, with a decent amount of seating both outside and inside.

The service was poor- made rude comments about my son not eating the vegetables in the yakisoba. Also I order to go and food was ready within less than 5 minutes which never happens but made me question if they just microwaved the food or something, which by the way was flavorless. Never had such dry chicken and tasteless salad and noodles.

I haven't been to Mashita's in a decade. I went back today going for the great teriyaki I remember, but I just had a horrible experience and won't be back. The old man at the counter was unnecessarily rude and passive aggressive to me for not taking a bottle of teriyaki sauce to my table as well as for bussing my plates when I was clearly doing it correctly. The other customers were looking at him like he was out of line. As for the food, they give you a good portion for the money but the quality was nothing special, unlike what I remember from a decade ago. What's your problem, man? Why do you think I'd ever come back?

There was a queue out the door when we pulled up. That's a good sign, right? I don't think I've ever seen a long line for a teriyaki place. By the time we parked and walked up, the line was inside the door. Most people got their food within 5 or so minutes of ordering. I think ours took 10-15. They said it was the noodles. As we were waiting, a couple said it was the best teriyaki in the Portland area, and they can't find anywhere near as good. My husband ordered the spicy chicken yakisoba. I ordered the spicy pork with rice. We also ordered pot stickers. When our meal came, they accidentally gave us egg rolls. I think they realized it and came out to find out us as my husband was taking it up to the counter. They quickly replaced the egg rolls. The pot stickers were nice and crispy, but they weren't our favorite flavor. Nothing wrong with them though. The noodles were good too. We liked the flavor of the chicken and pork, but neither were even slightly spicy. I know they have to cook it so most people like it, but man, there was zero spice. I like it really, really spicy. Like burn your face off spicy. So maybe others think it has a kick. Overall, it was pretty good. And the owners were extremely nice too.

Still my favorite lunch in Tualatin...tofu plate! Consistently good and always a great value, possibly the best lunch value in the area.

Teriyaki options are consistently good at Mashitas. Portions are huge- typically 2 or more meals per serving.

One of the oldest restaurants in the area, this place has been serving customers since 1983. I can…read moreunderstand why the reviews are mixed. The restaurant hasn't been renovated in a very long time, but it has a loyal customer base. While we were there, we saw several regulars who proudly support the restaurant because it has become a tradition for them over the years. We tried the chicken garlic wings, honey walnut prawns, and pork fried rice, along with the complimentary tea. The food was tasty, the portions were satisfying, and the service was friendly and attentive. If you're looking for ambience, this may not be the place. But if you appreciate long-standing family-run restaurants with good food, it's definitely worth a visit. Do support places like this--they're part of the community and deserve to stay around.

41 years ruined by new ownership…read more Called in a take out order, new woman answered. Upon pick up, I noticed the booths in the dining room were gone, so obviously something more has changed. Prices were significantly more, like $5 more for the same combo as a year ago.... Okay, everything is going up. She brings out my order in a plastic lunch container, I look at her dumbfounded and say I ordered the number 10 dinner combo, and it should be 4 boxes of food, and it's incredibly light. She assures me it's what I ordered. I get out to the truck and peek inside, and there is about 3/4 of the normal food and only a small scoop of fried rice. I walked back in and asked, yup new ownership as of 7 months ago. I point to my T-Ball picture from 1987 on the wall and express my displeasure with the changes. -Red sauce was gelatinous and appeared to have been thawed -Soy Sauce is a different brand, Lucky (I loved the Double High brand, salty not sweet) -BBQ Pork is now bright red, no lacquer glaze, dry and sliced way too thick -Sesame Chicken has no sesame seeds in the batter -Pork Fried Rice has only the smallest flecks of bbq pork, dry and very small portion. -Fried Shrimp was the closest to previous, but still seemed off. Not sure I will be back. I'm heart broken as my hometown Chinese place of 41 years just died a silent death while I wasn't looking. I grew up with the previous owners son and although change is never easy we thank the Lee's for all the wonderful food and wish them a happy retirement. As for the new ownership, get your sh!t together or you'll never survive. $20 for the same combo I've been ordering for decades is laughable. I always had leftovers, but none this time as the portions are that small.

We had the Chicken Lettuce…read moreWraps very good, 2 orders of shrimp dumplings (pan fried (we all enjoyed), steamed (only my step daughter) and, Garlic noodles (were ok but, needed more garlic and seasoning)! I never have room for dessert but, we all got something different to share. I ordered the banana spring rolls (you have to like bananas, caramel, and coconut w/ vanilla ice cream those are all my favorites). In my opinion I think they should add powdered sugar to the wonton wrappers. My husband got the chocolate cake slice (he said it reminded him of Miss.Trunchbull from Matilda and, it was smooth with a lot chocolate). I am not a big fan of anything red velvet but, my stepdaughter enjoy it a lot. Service~Chris was our waiter very professional, friendly, and knew the menu very well. Our food came out piping hot and, we didn't have to wait long for everything we ordered (now that's a plus for me I don't like if either one of those things are bad)! We asked about certain dishes and, he recommended or let us know what was the most popular. Both of his recommendations were spot on (lol next time I will only get all pan fried dumplings). Ambiance~Very clean huge restaurant and restrooms. Happy Hour is only at the bar or on the patio (they should consider changing to every where). It's located in a strip mall w/ parking garage and, other parking near the different stores (we had to drive around a few times). I would highly recommend giving this location a try and, we also stopped at a few shops afterwards. We will definitely be back to try other dishes that caught our eyes on the menu or what others had ordered.

The only entrance faces a street with zero parking and zero 'drop off' space so people do that anyway, in the sea of people walking to the entrance creating a pretty frightening hazard. The parking spaces are all a minimum of a block away which traditionally are completely full since they are in front of other popular places and the closest ADA spot is 2 blocks away, if you are lucky and it is available but it requires you to walk through cars zooming around. That was honestly pretty anxiety inducing just to go to the restaurant. So, if you are ordering takeout - please tip your driver well because getting your food is quite an ordeal.
