    Not so yummy or crunchy
    Rod G.

Arrived early for a dinner reservation and was seated promptly at the Sushi Bar. I was greeted by the sushi chef and the waitress came by to take my drink order. I had to wait for a while for my dining companion as there was a lot of traffic so the Chef suggested fresh Bluefin tuna. I tried a couple pieces and it was excellent. I also tried some O Toro which was even better. For my main course I ordered my favorite roll, the Yummy Crunch which is a great mix of shrimp tempura and crab with wonderful flavor.

We had such a wonderful lunch date at Sinju! The atmosphere is exactly what you'd want--mood lit, cozy, and calm without being too dark. It wasn't overly busy, which gave us the perfect balance of privacy and conversation while enjoying some truly amazing food. Service was calm, courteous, kind, and attentive the entire time. Now the food--absolutely outstanding! Every dish was plated beautifully and tasted even better: * Hamachi Jalapeño - The standout star! Perfectly delicate hamachi topped with fresh jalapeño and a touch of sauce. The simplicity combined with that bold kick of flavor was pure perfection. Elegant, clean, and absolutely unforgettable. * Spicy Pork Lettuce Wraps - Tender, savory pork in a rich, spicy sauce paired with fresh, crisp lettuce. The freshness of the greens balanced the spice perfectly, making every bite bright and flavorful. * Volcano Roll - A showstopper! Warm, baked topping of spicy crab over a roll that had depth and flavor in every bite. The creamy heat and slightly charred finish made this one of the top dishes of the day. * Orange Blossom Roll - Fresh salmon layered over a beautiful roll with bright pops of roe and jalapeño. Refreshing yet indulgent, with a little zing that kept us coming back for more. * Sunset Roll - Another visually stunning and delicious roll, with salmon and vibrant toppings that delivered a smooth, buttery bite every time. The Hamachi Jalapeño and Volcano Roll were the absolute winners, though everything we tried was spot on. From start to finish, it was an elevated yet approachable dining experience. Sinju delivered on all levels--food, service, and ambiance. If you're looking for an amazing sushi and Japanese dining experience, this is it. Already looking forward to our next visit!

Have been here for lunch, happy hour, and dinner. Sushi is great, cocktails are good, ambiance is hit or miss. Service is not consistent either.

I'd like to first compliment Cassie at the bar, she was very kind, attentive and quick. She's clearly very experienced and her hospitality was very appreciated. Food was excellent, I chose 2 house rolls and asked Cassie if they had a sweet potato roll, which they didn't. But she asked the chefs if they could accommodate and they made me an awesome tempura sweet potato roll. It was SO good! Ambiance was very nice too. I definitely recommend this restaurant!

I really enjoyed my first visit here I had the sukiyaki and it was very good. My wife had sushi rolls and they were also very good. The ambience is very pleasant. Everything was perfect The waiter could have made a few more visits for coffee and water refills but he was busy.

The inside is warm and intimate. The outside is perfect for sunny weather. I came here for the first time for lunch with family. We ordered 4 rolls for 3 people and initially were going to order 5, the portions are huge, good thing we only ordered 4. The rolls were delicious! The service was friendly, checking up on us every now and then.

The indoor is unique, maze-like darkroom accent lights, bathroom maybe most interesting. Service was kind & cordial. Menu is standard, nice for a sidewalk patio sushi break from shopping.

The counter is back open! We love sitting at the counter and we're excited to see it's back open. The food is good quality and not overpriced. The tempura is amazing! Get the tempura, and you won't be disappointed. We visited early in the dinner hour so the restaurant was still quiet and almost empty. I've seen the patio with lots of people so they do get busy. Plus they are next door-ish to the theater so it's a good movie night spot.

I thought about the orange blossom roll for over a year and it was even better the second time! Great service, the seating options are good, and on a non-weekend night we got sat very quickly. Portions are big and we barely finished all our food, but loved every bite. The yuzu whiskey sour was delicious as well!

I love coming here with my friends before we go watch a movie. The indoor atmosphere is intimate and cozy. The outside is nice for standard sidewalk seating. The bathrooms have a unique vibe. Colored lighting, an entire mirror wall, pebble wall.. etc. Happy hour here is good too! Shoutout to the bartender. He's awesome. We sat bar top. Always try the garlic edamame and hot sake. I didn't get great pics because I'm very busy eating!

I thought they were going to be fillers but they tasted great and actually put new fish I've never had before on the map for me! Some of my favorites were - kanpachi - kome buri - ama ebi - salmon (I liked it more than the king salmon, maybe I have peasant taste) - toro The omakase was well thought out as you can see and we even enjoyed the miso soup. I think the price tag of $100/person can initially be steep but you can easily spend this much on these nicer orders. I was also worried they might drop the quality during the AYCE portion but it continued to be delicious and service was consistent throughout (there was another group of 13 people so service was a bit slow having to divide time between the rest of the restaurant and them). I highly recommend this place and will for sure come back. Some delicious quality fish and my new favorite if I'm coming hungry!

If you're not downtown, they also have a smaller location on the east side! To start I got the takoyaki, or fried octopus balls. It was crispy on the outside, light and fluffy on the inside, with a tender and chewy piece of octopus, topped with a sweet sauce and fish flakes. Yum!! For my main, I wanted to try one of their broth-less udons and chose one of the specials, the Mentaiko kama-tama Udon--house-made flat udon noodles tossed in and onion oil, bonito, and soy dashi sauce. The noodles are topped with Men-taiko (spicy Tarako caviar), soft egg, tobiko, tempura puffs, green onions, and nori. I also added ikura (as recommended). I've never had flat udon noodles or broth-less udon but I'm forever changed. The minimal broth allows the toppings to be the stars of the show, and here was no exception. The flavors were complex, but balanced, and the variety of textures kept me coming back for another bite. The soy dashi sauce was full of umami and a subtle spicy kick, the fish eggs added pops of saltiness, and the tempura puffs and green onions added some crunch and offset the richness from the other toppings. The house-made noodles also made a huge difference, they were chewy but tender, and soaked up the soy dashi perfectly. I could not recommend Shigezo Izakaya enough!

Im taking 5 PCs of otoro sashimi for $25?! Speechless! We outdid ourselves and ordered like 3 rounds of sushi for the three of us and bill came out to $200 ish with drinks! Really easy to do since they had such an extensive menu with just about everything from appetizers, tapas sashimi, hand rolls, nigiri, fried items, sushi ROLLS, ramen/noodles, and skewers! Highlights were definitely the: -otoro (5 pcs ~$25) -salmon medley (salmon belly and 3 other cuts) -scallop nigiri -karaage (5 pcs for $8.99) *pro tip to add their house negi sauce $1 or spicy mayo $0.50 -agedashi tofu (fried tofu) -wagyu beef skewer $8.50 -citrus YTG roll ($15) so refreshing with hamachi (yellowtail), tempura flakes, and a house jalapeño ponzu sauce ! I might try for the Alaskan roll next time considering it was hard to identify the scallops in the baked roll but still kinda tasty if you're into the warm baked rolls! I was unfortunately really wanting to taste the scallops! Overall we had a great time! Service was nice and attentive! The drinks were really affordable and generous too! My brother in law ordered a chu hi and it came in this huge mug for $14 with an option of refill for ~$7! Such a deal! Arigatou, Hachi!

They have a menu of about 10 rolls & at least 4 involve tempura - which to me isn't the sushi I'm searching for. I want FISH. In addition, their beverages were also limited. I feel like if you're more of a novice to sushi this is for you, but if you love fish & fresh fish - then I would go elsewhere. Momoyama definitely delivers in the flavor department. What I was struck by was not just the freshness of the fish, nor the expert cuts...but the diversity of flavors. Perfect example - the King salmon with truffle knocked my socks off. I am not really a fan of salmon. I find its raw texture to often be a little soft to my taste and the funk of the omega 3s in quality salmon is just... not my bag. The truffle completely transformed the experience for me. I was not prepared for how well the earthy notes of the truffle complimented the King salmon. It made the sushi something to be savored without any of the traditional off-putting (to me) fishy funkiness. Highly recommended. Similarly, the octopus Sunomono was perfectly prepared. Often, octopus can be chewy. Not in this case. Additionally, the sauces and the salad greens complimented the dish and elevated it from traditional "sushi tastes." The bracing acidity made me want to eat more and was a delightful preamble for the rest of the meal. Service was prompt, friendly, and accommodating. We had a large group of eight and they were dutiful in informing us they had included gratuity in the bill so as to avoid double tipping. This small courtesy was not wasted on us. Service was always readily accessible without being intrusive. Orders were executed without defect and questions were answered pleasantly and with expertise. The restaurant has a pleasant and serene serving space. The bracing refrain of the "Irashai!" Greeting was a welcome touch that made me smile. Overall highly recommended. The prices were quite excellent given the quality of food and I would not hesitate a second visit. Sushi well, my friends.

Maybe the idea is to help with any language barrier -- the server spoke fluent English, while often the sushi chefs do not -- but we found him way too attentive. We sat at the bar so we could interact with the sushi chefs. We did talk with a chef, but his advice wasn't very specific. So...despite plenty of suggestions from the server, and some advice from the chef, and a long time perusing and discussing the extensive menu, we still weren't sure what to order. We finally went with a combo and were disappointed to see it served in a boat! That just seemed like a gimmicky, touristy thing, we would have preferred a plate. The fish actually was very good, and so were the salads. A shrimp nigiri was the only misstep, as the shrimp was overcooked. I guess I would return to this place -- hopefully on that server's day off! And make sure my order is not coming on a little boat. And skip the shrimp.
