I should have known that the service we received would be indicative of the food. I ordered our food to go through the Eat24 app. That part was easy enough. We arrived about 10 minutes after we placed our order. The woman behind the counter seemed very flustered by our order. I ordered two lunch combinations, an egg flower soup as well as a hot and sour soup. On one of the combinations, I asked if it was possible to substitute rice for the chow mein. The woman seemed irritated and stated that it didn't come with fried rice. I said I was willing to pay extra. She again said that it didn't come with fried rice. She also said to call in my order next time, that the Eat24 app was not good and that I should just call to order, it would be faster. The food was nothing special, pretty bland. The sweet and sour chicken did not include sweet and sour sauce? The fried rice lacked flavor. The chicken in the chow mein was chewy and seemed to be more gristle than meat. I spent three months in Hong Kong in the late 80s, and I must say that the Canton Phoenix menu reminds me more of authentic Chinese food than I've seen anywhere else. I've gotten only delivery (which is quite reasonable in price), and the food arrives when the order taker says it will arrive, and the food is very nice and warm like it was prepared five minutes earlier. We usually just order one of the family-style dinners for two, and the food seems less heavy and oily than from other Chinese restaurants. The previous owners, who operated under "The Silver Palace," did not do such a good job with the food. New owners are entirely different. read more

Very good Chinese food, might be the best in Tigard. Menu is very large from American Chinese to more traditional dishes. Prices are a little higher, but not bad. Because of this you get a much better meal. I normally don't give a 5 star, but we have gone here many times and the food has been very good and interesting every time. Simply the best authentic Cantonese in Greater Portland! Had very authentic Cantonese dishes like Lobster, Crab and Claypot Beef. For those that are less adventurous they also served American Chinese. Dimsum is better than well known places like Wong King and Capital Seafood and you don't have to drive all the way to Southeast Portland and deal with the long waits. Restaurant is clean and spacious. Servers are knowledgeable and attentive. I'd highly recommend this restaurant for anyone who wants affordable, yet delicious Cantonese food. Finally. Excellent authentic Chinese food in PDX. Heard about this new place from a family friend, so I took my family there for dinner on a random weekend night. Had fried noodles, lobster, seafood soup, and salt & pepper squid. All were delicious with fresh ingredients. The service was swift and friendly. I stopped here for a Christmas Day carry out meal and was okay with the food. I'm vegan so didn't expect many options other than veggies, rice and/or noodles. Tried the meatless foo young and an order of spring rolls which was about a 20 min wait. It was busy because of the holiday. I noticed a couple that had been at the restaurant before I got there up and leave because they sat and waited for food that never arrived. The wife seemed more upset than the husband as she made her complaint and then left out while the husband waited for the refund and or confirmation that no charge went through on the account. I thought the food, based on what I ordered, was about a 3.5. I rounded up because the front hostess was pleasant and nice although they were very busy. I often get Cantonese Chinese food and would like to give this restaurant another try considering the variety of food ordered and that it was probably more busy than normal. I'll probably try the steamed vegetables and tofu as the meatless foo young tasted pretty bland. I've also had better spring rolls that offer a more crisp texture. It probably would have made the meal better for it to have been hot also considering the wait. read more

Horrible. Pork fried rice tastes like they use 2 week old pork. Sweet n sour chicken is just deep fried chicken pieces with a small side of sauce. No pineapple or vegetables with it. Potsticker sauce tastes like water. Hot and sour soup nothing in it. THE SMALLEST PORTIONS I HAVE SEEN!!! Especially with take out!!! Overpriced!!! Three strikes and now they are out! The first two times the woman was rude and disrespectful when I only ordered take away. The third and last time is when I ordered take away again, wonton soup. I got the soup home but it had everything except the won tons. I called them right away and they let me know that they will have an order ready for me to pick up as soon as I get there. I asked if I should bring the food back to show them, they said "no". I get to the restaurant and the person I spoke with in the phone began to argue with me about the wontons being left out of the soup. He said they they were definitely in the soup. I mentioned that this is why I wanted to bring the food back- to show him the incorrect order. He storms into the kitchen. He comes back out and we have the same conversation/argument all over again. Someone else came out of the kitchen with only wontons to add to the broth I have at home. After getting home and adding them to the broth, I bit into the first one, it was very cold - very refrigerated, not frozen cold. This place is not worth the aggravation of driving back and forth to argue about soup. Thankfully, we have other options out there. read more

I have been looking for a great authentic Chinese restaurant with no MSG . This is it! We had the po po platter and the Shrimp with candied walnuts. Dinner came with soup . Egg flower soup was very tasty. I don't usually like it. But this was good! The shrimp was huge and was the best we've ever had. The po po platter was filling and very good. This is my first YELP review. I am posting it because I am genuinely interested in this restaurant staying around. On our first visit we got a mix of Dim Sum and a lunch special. (NOTE: Keep in mind that I am comparing the Dim Sum here to many many meals over the years at Legin, Wong King's Seafood, Jin Wah, and a couple in Seattle Chinatown) My thoughts about what we ordered: 1. Shin Roll - THE BEST I've ever had, no question. They are bigger here than normal and taste fresher and yummier. I have been craving them since I left and will get this every time I visit. This was the star of the meal. 2. Baked Cream Yellow Bun - Again, the best I've had. I didn't know these could get any better than what I had already experienced. 3. Pork Shew My (I'm spelling from their menu) - Above average. Not the best I've had but maybe a close second and they are BIG here. 4. Chinese Broccoli (ask for Dim Sum size for a smaller and cheaper version) - VERY good. Maybe just a HAIR on the "too salty" side but barely, if that. I think it might be the best I've had. Great flavor and very fresh. 5. General Tso's (Chicken) - VERY good.. again maybe a hair salty, but the frying process was done right in good oil, you can tell. The eggroll they include with it, just average, take it or leave it. From the outside, this restaurant looks seedy. The business all around it are either out of business or only open seldomly. So I'm a bit concerned this place might not last, because people won't come in. The inside is average looking. Newer tables in the middle w/ lazy susans, and then older booth seats on the outside left over from the restaurant's seedy past. While we were eating two of the employees were preparing fresh vegetables out on an open table. I got the feeling they know what they are doing here with the right ingredients. We had the seafood egg noodle soup and Hong Kong style House Special Chow Mein. My tablemates ordered the family dinner with fried shrimp, a chicken dish, and beef with broccoli. Our food arrived hot, fresh and plentiful. I agree with the reviewer Nikee W., regarding "tiny mountains" of food. The service was attentive, brisk and cheerful. I am not a food critic. Infact I am normally a very happy and passive person, but Canton Phoenix made me super irritated. First, when ordering drinks, I asked if they had Coke or Pepsi products, the host instantly walked away and came back with a can of coke and poured it in a glass. I do not care for Coke which is why I was trying to clarify. I didn't say anything since there was an obvious language barrier and I didn't want to create a fuss in-front of my niece I was taking to dinner. I asked for no onions on anything because they really hurt my stomach. The food shows up and its all up in my favorite dish. The BBQ port I ordered was thickly cut, cold and chewy. ALSO my niece and I both ordered sweet and sour chicken and when they brought us our food both of our chicken was dry, and they dropped the food off so fast they didn't ask us if we needed anything us so I had to go find some one to ask them for a dish of sweet and sour sauce. After we finished our sad meal, we sat while the same host sat on his phone at the desk and I again had to initiate contact to get him to bring us our check. For the first time in my life I didn't leave a tip. No one deserved it, horrible service. read more

Love Canton Phoenix for their take out. I have ordered multiple times and the food is always ready in under 20 minutes and is hot and fresh when I get there to pick it up. The staff is friendly and they always get me out the door quickly. I usually order with the Yelp Eat 24 app and so I don't even have to pay when I get there, I just pick up my yummy food and head back home to eat. We arrived around 3PM and the place was nearly empty. The food was pretty good, not spectacular, and not at all bad. The staff were very friendly, but not available for most of the meal. Our party of three adults and one 12-month old baby went to this place for dinner in the spring with the yelp coupon. They were very happy to accept the coupon. The server was very nice to us. The food was delicious, and portion size was very large. We ordered 3 entrees, and had leftover to take home. What impressed us the most was that our 12-month old baby was just starting to learn to eat solid food, and had an accident of throwing up a mouthful of food onto the floor. They were not upset at us. They helped to clean up our place, and seemed very understanding and patient. We really appreciated them for that because it has always been a struggle for us to take our baby to a restaurant. We have recommended this place to many friends, and got positive feedbacks. read more

We've ordered delivery from here 3-5 times now and every time the food has been really good. Sweet & sour chicken is good and comes with a good amount of meat. Kung Pao chicken is also really good. It's an especially good deal with the yelp or groupons that they offer. Friendly service every time and orders have been at my house within 1 hour every time. I would not recommend this place to anyone who wants to get what they ordered. Fried cartilage and fat, greasiest thing i've ever touched in my life. They have cheap food but they dont get the orders right and they never give you everything you're supposed to get. Last time i ordered 2 meals and neither had any rice, and this time I got fried cartilage. The entire container is inedible and I'm not a picky person... but I wouldnt feed it to my dog (out of fear it would choke on the hard chunks of dried meaty piles of grease) The entire meal's only notable flavor is that of common salt and pepper. Dont waste your time, spend the extra 2$ and go to Yen's. If you MUST go here, get the buns. It's the only thing they've got right. read more

I live very close to this place, finally decided to try it out. I have to say, I was very impressed with the quality of the food. I ordered several items--the best part is that none of the meat dishes were deep fried in batter. There were nice slices of chicken and beef, mixed with tender, yet still crisp, veggies. I was somewhat skeptical of the place, now I am a fan. I am so happy that the place is so close by--and if I don't feel like driving that short distance, they deliver! If you find yourself in King City craving crab puffs that are mostly unidentifiable cream filling sans crab, and soggy chicken with veggies, get yourself the yelp deal and knock yourself out.
