The best word to describe this place is 'Meh'. I wanted to like it, I really did and it just wasn't there. I will say, the dim sum was actually pretty decent, the BF and I are both pretty picky and we just kept ordering more things. The tea was flavorless and lukewarm at best, plus it wasn't strained at all, I has a cup of leaves. The entrees were just, gross. Totally inedible and we wound up taking them to go just to be nice. I went here with three friends and we decided to sample a number of items and share. The portions of their entrees were generous and we will be having a feast of leftovers. My husband and I have been looking for a Chinese place that would deliver to our address for a long time because we're mostly wheelchair bound and don't have a car. Last night we ordered from Canton Phoenix and were thrilled with the food and the service. We ordered the combo dinner D for two which bought us a _lot_ of food for a great price. There were only two problems but they weren't deal breakers; the Kung Pao Chicken could have had more meat in it (but the flavor was wonderful!), and the combo was supposed to come with a choice between egg flower soup and hot and sour soup, but we were told that that was for dine in only because they didn't have a secure way to deliver it (which I find strange because it looks like other reviewers ordered and received soup via delivery). A final note: Our house is not always easily found because the postal service (which is where all GPS units get their address info) has our address wrong and won't change it unless I pay $500, or get a petition to have the street name changed which has to be signed by 500 people. SO not doing that, especially since we rent. So I tell anyone who is coming here that we're off a different street than their GPS will give them. Even though I gave these instructions when I ordered, as I do every time, the driver called me from a block away, unable to find our house. I gave him the instructions again and he arrived soon after. The food was still hot and delicious so we were still happy. read more

This food was well-priced and absolutely delicious. That being said, I must say the younger waitress seemed annoyed that we were there and asking (only two) basic menu questions, but she remained professional, although it was strange that she brought the food in the order it came from the back instead of all at once. No worries though! The older waitress was bussing tables and brought water in a very friendly and cheerful way-- she was awesome! Bought a discount deal for this place and have been looking for good take out close to home so thought it the perfect way to try it. Would I eat "in" ? Nope. I went in to pick up my order, and it should have been a busy time, 6:30 on a Saturday night, but the dining area was a ghost town and just looked old and sad in there. All that wasted space. I think 80% of their business is take out, because in the few minutes it took to get my order? Several people gathered with take out intent. I ordered a large sampling, and we enjoyed it all, aside from the bbq spare ribs which were pretty chewy. There's a grumpy old waitress at Canton Phoenix in Tigard who made feel extremely uncomfortable and unwelcomed, even though I was polite to her, for some reason she did not like me. When I sat down and ordered she told me to hurry up and not waste her time. Towards the end I asked if I can get a to go box, she said no and proceeded to tell me to finish my food or bring my own box. It's the first time I suspect a server may have spit in my food or done something worse to it. I got that vibe from her. Let just say it made me feel uneasy about what I had consumed. I will not eat there again. And I do NOT recommend this place to anyone who wants a comfortable meal. read more

I just finished a meal at Canton Phoenix and it was very good. Fair price and good portions. The place is clean with typical Chinese interior as you may expect. The service is fair, friendly but not overly. They allow you to eat without a lot of interruptions. There were many patrons in the place as well. The menu has many selections. The only draw back I would add is the young man they have assisting. When we eat there in the evening the server comes to the table to take the check and method of payment. After finishing my meal today they cleared the table and I sat there for 15 mins waiting for someone to come to my table to take the check and method of payment. Finally this young man approached my table. I gave him cash and he returned my change without a copy of the check. I asked for my senior discount and receive it but shorted me some change. I pointed that out to him and he told me they round UP if pennies involved. He also added an instruction on how to present the check and payment on the table so I do not wait next time. I thought if arrogant of him to lecture me. At no time did he give any type of apology. Otherwise I would have given it 5 stars. read more

I tried calling tonight and would have ordered and and gone to pick it up myself (still takes forever), but their phone rang and rang and no one ever picked up. (That should have been my first clue.) My girlfriend and I just moved into the apartments across the highway from Canton Phoenix. Included in our "welcome packet" was a menu for the restaurant. We figured we'd order from them at some point, but to be honest, I wish we would have sooner. Never having been there before, the prices on the menu *looked* a little high, but when the food arrived we were astonished. Rather than coming in the standard "Chinese food cartons", the dishes come in platters that could easily provide a portion for three to four people. Let's just say we're going to have leftovers... for a week... The food itself is great. The dishes that include meat and veggies aren't packed full of veggies with a few scraps of meat here and there. You actually get what you pay for. As far as ordering delivery goes. Wow! We were told it would take about 45 minutes to cook the food and get it delivered. 20 minutes after I hung up the phone, it was at our door. Awesome job, Canton Phoenix! My boyfriend called...someone answered and said the kitchen was closed. He asked if they were serving alcohol, to which she said yes. He commented that its illegal to serve alcohol without food. I tried their delivery today. They didn't show up in an hour and I decided to call them after another half an hour. A lady answered and she said, she got my orders. So I asked her how long I have to wait for my food. She said, she will check. And then she just left me on hold for 15 min. I heard her speaking other people but never talked back to me. I just hung up the phone and tried calling her again. The line was busy for another 10min. They should have at least let their customer know about their orders. Ever since Norm's Garden closed in May of 2015, I have been in search of a comparable Chinese restaurant. Sadly, so far, no luck! Canton Phoenix was my latest try and unfortunately, it wasn't a hit. I ordered several lunch combinations (Mongolian Beef, General Tso's Chicken, Dry Sauteed Green Beans and L6, which included BBQ Pork, Sweet and Sour Chicken, Fried Rice and Sub Gum Chicken Chow Mein) so we could try a variety of items. I also ordered a separate order of BBQ pork fried rice and an order of MaFa chicken. Three of the lunch combos came with a spring roll. Ugh, soft, squishy and not good at all. The best of the three combos was the Mongolian Beef. It was tasty, but the beef was a bit chewy. The General Tso's chicken was super sweet and had no spice whatsoever. That was disappointing. The Dry Sauteed Green Beans had an odd flavor, almost like soap. Ick, really bad! The BBQ pork and the Sweet and Sour Chicken in the L6 combo were good, the BBQ pork was actually the best item ordered, but there wasn't much of it. The Sub Gum Chicken Chow Mein tasted like sesame oil .... just sesame oil, there was no flavor of the vegetables or the chicken, and the chicken was rubbery and weird looking. One bite of that and it went in the garbage, along with the soggy spring rolls and the green beans. Total waste of money! The MaFa chicken had potential, but it was so greasy that I had to roll it in paper towels to draw the grease out before tasting it. Also, they line the bottom of a styrofoam container with slimy, stringy lettuce that then sticks to the pieces of deep-fried chicken. Gross! The fried rice that came with the three combos was brown and flavorless ... in the garbage it all went! The separate order of BBQ pork fried rice was a little better, but not a whole lot. Another thing that turned me off is the to go containers are all plastic or styrofoam. Putting hot food into plastic containers is nasty. Not a Chinese takeout box in sight! Everything was put in a plastic container, including the whole order of BBQ pork fried rice, and the deep-fried MaFa chicken was in a styrofoam container. Not good. Overall, very disappointing experience and a lot of money wasted since much of the food ended up in the garbage. I certainly won't go back to Canton Phoenix, but I will continue my search for some decent Chinese food in the local area. Norm's Garden, you are missed!! read more

Canton Phoenix is a consistently good Chinese restaurant. Very fast and friendly service. Their Take Out website is very easy to use and after using several times is always accurate. The food is always freshly made. This is not a "high cuisine" type of place but if you're looking for good basic Chinese food at reasonable prices, then it's ideal. read more

We have eaten here a lot because it is practically just down the street and my son loves dim sum. First, the positive: Their fried food is good, and the dim sum is quite tasty. The staff is friendly. Now, the rest: The dim sum is good when you can get it. They are often out of what we ask for, and sometimes it takes them 5-10 minutes to let us know. If you don't have a specific dim sum that you want to order and you are ok with whatever they happen to have, np, give it a go. I thought maybe it was because I kept going for dinner, but I went there to lunch the other day and they were out of both selections that we made. The chow mein is soggy, the soup is nothing special and their lunch menu only runs Mon-Fri. Rather overpriced for what you get, the food is mostly unexceptional. read more

I was looking for a Dim Sum place near my work to eat for brunch and this place seemed promising. I was in a bit of a time crunch so I ordered to-go. First thing that made me a bit anxious was that after ordering, I paid with a credit card. I'm under the assumption that the staff there only wants customers to pay in cash, as the waiter had to come out from the kitchen (after arguing with his management) and ask me for my phone number and name because there might be legal ramifications of some sorts, I'm not sure what. The wait took a long time, 40-45 minutes for a few things. I had to ask the waiter about my order, because someone after me got his to-go order before me. The food was alright. I definitely had a number of different Dim Sum cuisine in different areas and have had better. The price was a bit pricey, but it is Dim Sum, so I'd say it's about the same as other places. read more

Being hungry is a gateway to bad decisions..... Ordering: I was in my office speaking quietly unlike the person taking my order, who was yelling over a large amount of ruckus in the background. After repeating my order 3 times: (SOUP, CRAB PUFFS and 1 EGG ROLL!!!!!!!) I hung up. And I should have just let it go, but being hungry is a gateway to bad decisions. When he called me back, I went where I could loudly repeat myself several more times over the loudness and through the language barrier. Delivery: I got the call that he had arrived. Looked around the lobby and he is nowhere to be found. I go outside, it is pouring down rain, my food is drenched on top of the hood of his car. I ask him why he didn't come inside? He says "The door is locked, right?" Had he came to the door instead of sitting in the rain, security would have let him in. Food: The food was crap. The soup was bland. The crab puffs were made with imitation cheese. The shrimp egg roll had invisible shrimp that shat brown sludge into a cement drum. I have to go throw it all up now. You have been warned. read more
