The service was quick, the restaurant was clean, and the food was delicious. I can see why Canton Cafe is a favorite --my friend recommended this place ! We ordered ahead and enjoyed our meal there, and it was the perfect experience. read more

Canton Cafe - Chinese Near Me - Caldwell, Idaho

Only things that were really edible were the fried rice, the mandarin chicken, and the pot stickers. Although the sweet & sour for the mandarin tasted like grocery store sauce from a jar. The broccoli beef was flavorless and beef was burned. Shrimp chow mein tasted like it came out of a can of Chung King grocery store chow mein and it had a small scoop of baby shrimp on top. We got to listen to 4 teenagers discussing anime and argue about super powers. read more

Have been coming here for years. We always get the Mandarin chicken with all white meat and fried rice.

The food was fresh and so good definitely will be back the service was a little slow. We didn't get a refill until we were about to leave, but the bill was very nice and it was worth it. We'll be back. read more

We ordered a whole spread for two families. We ordered it to go. The food was BARELY edible. Pork fried rice and crab rangoons were the only thing we could get down. The 2 stars is for the nice guy that answered the phone when we called to order. We were all shocked at how bad it was. I'm so disappointed. read more

Super amazing food loved my chicken and pork fried rice and good portions for to go!the staff was very kind!

I had #1 the Chow mein was so bad I puked in a napkin! I will never ever go here again. Our waitress was amazing too bad the food was poison! read more

Food was not good no color with vegetables. It was brown dry rice. The shrimp were so bad you couldn't eat them. We had a table of six and there was not one meal that was perfect. Very disappointed will not return. read more

Food was good. Fried rice was very good. The service was nice. We took it to go and there were many people getting theirs to go. I have not been there since I was a kid. Still looks the same but the food is great. read more

Well for one thing you food isn't very good. You charge too much for it. The sauces you serve with the meals are terrible. If I didnt have soy sauce i think I would have thrown it away. Your noodles are a joke. The noodles are under cooked and serving spaghetti noodles don't count as Chinese noodles. Just terrible experience i have their 3 times now and every dish i order was unsatisfying. I felt cheated. Only thing I did like was the potstickers. Eventhough you could not get them steamed or you could only get them made of pork only. Not sure if the cooks are authentic or trained to make this sloppy. But they servely need improvement. I give you a heart breaking half a star. Sorry to disappoint work on it please!!!! read more

Very friendly staff, clean restaurant. Chinese food was mediocre. The day I visited they had no sliced roast pork. We had sweet sour shrimp, pork, egg food young & chicken chow mein. Again, just mediocre. read more

We crossed the border into unknown land of unknown Asian type cuisine. Thankfully we had a great translator waitress that let us way through the menu. Our waitress is a great help. Good service good oolong tea looks like an old fashion. Caldwell Chinese place try kicking up the food with a little chili paste. It'll really help. read more

Hearing about how rude the manager is at this restaurant does not make us want to try this place. Based on reading the reviews on how the food is seems like a good idea to just pass. read more

Good food. Attentive servers and staff. The atmosphere is casual and intimate, which usually doesn't go together. A family run business that's been doing it for more than 50 years. read more

I have liked this little restaurant, eating in or take out, since the olden day, when it was open after the bars closed! The Mandarin food is quite good (to me), judging by the traffic thru their doors, I believe they have many other fans, too. One slightly off the wall thing that I especially love is their chicken and rice soup. If I still lived in Caldwell, they would be tired of me! But, I drive over weekly for a large container of chicken/ rice soup and an order of fried rice that lasts 3 days (the soup is gone before it's cold!). Thanks, Canton! read more

Terrible staff young lady took our order asked us for a name and scoffed at my husband Hispanic name then said "uhh okay fine " then put our order down without a name she had long brown hair and lots of bracelets do better! read more

holy cow! I thought the mediocre review was just because they were from local Idahoians (who I suspect are under educated, ill informed, and generally scared of anything outside of eggs and baloney) but this place is really bad. just look for somewhere else to eat. get a burger or some chicken. nice people horrible food how hard is it to mess up Chinese food? it's like screwing up a taco. read more

First time dining here. I chose Dinner #2 (Pork fried rice, crab wonton and mandarin chicken) and added small fried shrimp (4) and one egg roll. The food was hot and flavorful. I liked having the option of dark or white meat chicken (I went with dark as it's more moist, imo) The fried shrimp were a little over done, but still had good flavor. The egg roll was stuffed full of meat and veggies and again had good flavor, but not something I would order again. Overall, pleased with what I got. Will definitely visit again read more

Canton Cafe - Dinner #2 with added fried shrimp and egg roll. - Chinese Near Me - Caldwell, Idaho

Small portions that lack flavor. We were disappointed. My son says this place is forgettable. We ordered lunch combos, one with pork chow mien and sweet and sour pork. Other was supposed to be pork chow mien with mandarin chicken but it arrived with sweet and sour sauce instead of mandarin. The sweet and sour pork and chicken is just meat with a thick batter. No veggies or anything else but sauce on the side. We also ordered a side of crab Rangoon. They were ok while warm but once cold they were soggy. Did not taste anything except cream cheese. Lacked flavor. Any time I have ordered Chinese the portions are enough to have leftovers......not this place. Enough for one meal and the lunch combo was $11.75. Over priced for the portion. We spent $39.44 today and left a tip because the waitress was kind and helpful. read more

Wow this place has gone WAYYYY downhill. They have doubled their prices and the serving sizes are so small. The place looks dirty over all the interior. When I called and asked why the servings were so small she stated they have always been that size, which I'm certain isn't true. yikes after ordering there for 6 years I will be looking for a new Chinese take out place. Very Mid very very mid overall, next to no value in comparison to other places. Sad day because they used to be the heat. read more

Worst food experience of my life and the bad thing I had to pay for it. My kids couldn't finish the food it was so disgusting and disappointing. I am not trying to trash talk them but it was so highly priced for me to leave more than half of the food on the plate. We were asked if we wanted a to go box and said no thank you. I feel so bad but I just don't want anyone to ever have to pay for food that is not fit for a homeless dog to eat. read more

I would avoid this place if you have children. We were told we were not allowed back because serving people with kids is not worth it. We've been coming here for years and kids have never been an issue until new staff arrived. read more

We've been going to Canton Cafe for years, nothing changes. And that's exactly why it gets 5 stars. Listen, if you're looking for authentic, perfect, gourmet Chinese food... go somewhere else. Canton isn't trying to be that, nor are they CHARGING for that either. It's lots of good, quality food for a reasonable price. Our family of 3 can eat way better here than at Taco Bell, for the same $25-$30. read more

Food was amazing but, the were incredibly cheap when it came to fortune cookies. I paid $70 for our take out and they want 10 cents a piece to get fortune cookies. read more

Worst Chinese food I've ever had. Not sure how they are still in business. Everything was deep fried in dirty grease and fried rice was hard and overly seasoned with soy sauce. Soup was sad, never had a won ton soup with ham in it?? Gross! Felt sick after eating. Don't waste your money! Im all about support local business but I will not be coming here again. It's worth the drive into Boise/Meridian to get better quality Chinese food. read more

They have great prices. Their food is pretty good. The staff is nice. Bring cash if your not charging over $15.

I have been eating Chinese food all my life and I've never had pork chow main like these people make it! All celery with slivers of pork over it. No noodles! Also had wor won ton soup that had won tons and shrimp nothing else. I didn't want shrimp soup don't even waste your money. read more

Delivery: I ordered Curry pork, Pork Lo mein, ham fried rice, Mongolian beef, and 3 cans of Pepsi. Delivery was quick. I might add the restaurant called immediately after the order was placed to inform me the Curry pork was not available. Not a problem. The only screw-up was the driver brought 3 cups of pepsi instead of 3 cans. Who in the world would order a Styrofoam cup of any cold beverage in 100 degree heat, knowing it will be flat and warm when it arrives? All in all, the food was tasty, but very bizarre looking. This is the first time Ive seen lo mein that had the consistency of soup. ( see photo, round container). Even the Mongolian beef was like a stew. Very weird. But like I said, it tasted fine... not great, but fine. Im not sure yet if I'd return. I would have to think about it. My order came to $51 which included $8 delivery and a $10 delivery tip. However, Im a sucker for tipping delivery drivers, so I gave her an additional $10. She seemed very grateful and hopefully it made her day. read more

Canton Cafe - a meal of noodles, beef and vegetables - Chinese Near Me - Caldwell, Idaho

Growing up in Caldwell, Canton is nostalgia. Canton is not true authentic Chinese food, but it does a consistent and good job of being American-Chinese. I ate here as a high school kid nearly 20 years ago and just recently ate here again. The recipes have not changed and the taste and the quality of the food was no different. If you have guilty cravings for some tasty savory comfort food, look no further. In terms of service this place has always done a good job of offering high school students some good part time work with flexibility. If you are nice and polite, they will be nice and polite. In the photos we had Special Q, beef broccoli w/egg foo young, chicken gravy rice. read more

I truly want to give a better than one star review. I know Covid has messed up restaurants and many are struggling. That's why we go out to eat trying to support places when we can. Unfortunately there's no excuse for the type of service and quality of food we received yesterday. I would recommend skipping this place and trying something else if you want quality traditional Chinese Food and kind service. read more

I don't have very many good ratings to leave around town, but Canton is 5/5. Quick and always great, friendly staff! We love Canton

Food was all overly deep fried. You can't tell the chicken, pork or shrimp from each other

Me and my family love Asian food, we are happy that we tried this one recently. We actually ate here last week and we came back again. The crab Rangoon and egg rolls are the best among all the other places, and I love the Canton special fried rice and their Mandarin Chicken, so tasty!!! I forgot to take pics when I ate, but I'll attach some menu photos. I promise that the actual dish looks even more beautiful than the pics! LOL .....And oh! By the way, their waitresses are very friendly and patient too. I would definitely return! read more
