This is a long review and if you don't want to read everything below, just know that these are untrustworthy people plain and simple. If you need a custom home built then you would be in better hands elsewhere. I could not recommend them less. ----‐---------------- We started this process on good footing, we spent time getting to know their team, talking through the project and setting expectations. We read their positive reviews and they put on a good face. But soon after construction started we realized that this team is completely out of their depth. As a whole they are destructively uncommunicative and are outright deceitful, Cesar their GC, and Katherine one of the business owners, particularly so. When problems were encountered, instead of working through solutions together, their strategy was to stall for as long as possible and to ignore our attempts to keep the project moving forward. Their behavior cost us months of delays which resulted in thousands of dollars lost, needless worry and lasting issues with our home and property. If you decide to move forward with this team, please keep record of every interaction, be extremely specific in your contract, and keep your attorney on hand. After our move in, and after clear explicit instructions from me on numerous occasions, business owner Katherine illegally and covertly recorded the exterior and interior of our property on multiple occasions, including video recording me inside of my home while I was unaware. Katherine and the rest of the team do not care about legality, your privacy, or the basic respect of their clients. During the build they tried their best to get more money out of us while delivering substandard work. The only way we were able to move into the home after many months past our projected move in date and many weeks spent in extended stays was by going around them to schedule our final inspection with the county, by communicating with our title company & lender, by filing complaints with the BBB and ROC. Stay on top of your project. If you are providing custom architectural plans, please know that the time, money and planning that went into your build documents mean nothing to them, they will do as they please without your intervention. Consent is not a word in their vocabulary. They changed our home and design, damaged our newly installed materials and appliances, illegally dumped their waste on our property & refused to properly clean up, refused to do work explicitly outlined in our contract, and attempted to cut corners at every turn. They're unwilling to learn, improve or accept responsibility. Through my interactions with this team I have come to learn what the term "gaslighting" means. They continued to smile in my face, offering pleasantries and small talk, expecting me to quickly move past their damaging behavior while their actions and words remained persistently harmful. We used Canterra to build a new room into our new home. I was so impressed at how knowledgeable they were. They are quick to respond, they communicate really well, their work is high quality and they made us feel like our vision for the project was manageable. During construction, a worker accidentally bumped into a Mickey Mouse mug and broke it. We probably wouldn't have noticed, but Cesar, one of the owners went out and bought another one for us. Honesty goes a long way and I believe this to be an honest company. I highly recommend them if you are looking to take on any project inside or out of your home. Give them a call! It's hard to put into words how incredibly grateful my family and I are for Canterra. We have been working with them for over a year on a complex casita and total landscaping redesign project for our house, and every single step of the way, their team has gone above and beyond. When you find a company on Yelp, there's always a worry about whether they'll just be in it for the money. This is not the case with Canterra. We have felt deeply cared for throughout the entire process. Their pricing was fair, and instead of selling us things we didn't need, they educated us--even sometimes to their own financial detriment! The hardest part of this project for us is that it's coming to a close! We've come to really love connecting with every team member, and they have all treated us with respect. According to the AZ ROC, Canterra Construction has only been in business as a general contractor since 2022-02-24 and they received their electrical license on 2023-07-31. They are not licensed to do any plumbing or air conditioning work, so they would just charge you a large fee to subcontract it out. My complaint: The company provided me a quote with only a total price. When I asked for an itemized list, they refused to provide it. Their quote was over $80,000 for a basic remodel of adding a kitchen sink and some cabinets, moving some electrical wires, basic plumbing, installing a water heater, moving a small section of drywall, and framing two doors. Their quote didn't even include permitting costs or any appliances. They must be hiding something... probably the fact that their rates are far above the market standard. I can't see any other reason why they would refuse to provide an itemized list of a fairly simply remodel. It should not be a big deal. In addition, they spoke in a condescending tone in their emails when I told them I wanted to complete the project in phases to be conscious of the budget. I've already received a quote for less than half the price with permits included. How did they come up with $80,000 for such a simple job? Their labor rate must be astronomical. Summary: You should think twice before doing business with a remodeling company that's only been in business for a couple months, and who refuses to provide a detailed itemized list of costs on their estimates, and whose estimates are more than double the market rate. Update: The business says they never gave me a quote. They definitely did under a different name and email. Paola Lugo, the "executive administrator" sent me the emails. Regardless of the name on the invoice, they did not address any of the complaints I brought up here. read more

I highly recommend Ceaser and his team. We are currently working on a kitchen remodel and needed to resize a window so we could fit more cabinet space, and his team did an excellent job. They also replaced our ceiling fan and did some drywall repair that turned out great. Ceaser is really great about keeping in contact with you every step of the way and all the people he sends out are very friendly and do an excellent job. Turnaround is also very quick and quotes were fair. It was great to not need to find multiple experts for a complex job on my own! Highly recommend them! A leaky toilet damaged the subfloor in my master bath. That led to a complete renovation of the bathroom. The vintage 1970s décor gave way to a beautiful new room - better than I ever imagined. This bathroom needed a non-standard size tub and shower walls that required moving the plumbing line and the new vanity also required moving pipes. All of this weird replumbing was expertly done. Cesar and his crew were professional and very helpful when I needed to make decisions. I will definitely have Canterra renovate my other bathroom in the future. read more
