Oh my goodness the place was packed. We were given the option to sit at the bar. We took it. The young lady that helped us was excellent. Great personality. I have eaten at this establishment twice, and was disappointed both times, this review however is from the last visit in October 2020. We had a large group meeting at this location, everyone was driving 2 to 3 hours to meet here for a birthday celebration. A family member called weeks before the decision was made to eat here due to the Corona virus. The employee stated it would be no problem to seat us, but it was first come/first serve & reservations were not accepted. We arrived to be told that we could not be seated together due to the virus! Family members had traveled out of state for this event! We were already there, so we stayed. Then our food came and several people had to have their sandwiches replaced due to having very little content (see pictures). We left and wandered through the town shopping. Two in our group went back in to use the restroom thinking it would be no problem with the amount of money we spent about an hour before, and the (assumed) manager cussed about them to another employee. Looking for a lunch spot on a Saturday afternoon in March. Used Google and found this place because I liked what I saw on the menu. 15 min wait, but the time went by fast after browsing in a nearby shop. Got a text that our table for two was ready. So many yummy menu items but decided to go with a whole sandwich and a cup of soup for $12.00. Opted for one of the "soups of the day" which was tomato basil and paired it with a grilled cheese on sourdough bread. Great option for a chilly afternoon. Both were excellent and hit the spot! The food here was pretty stellar. Service was great as well even though they were pretty busy when the 9 gals and I came here during my bachelorette outing around town. The soup was great! If anything, get the bowl as it is a pretty sizable portion. The cup of soup with half of any sandwich from the combo meals section was cream based and tasted pretty flavorful and hearty. I choose one of the soup of the day, brie and mushroom, that changes daily. As for the sandwich, I choose the hot beef and pepperjack (mostly because it was on a baguette -- but still a great choice). The sandwich was pretty scrumptious and filling. There's also a separate tea menu. The tea bags were pretty unique as it's the restaurant's own version. All the girls overall said this place was homely and had good food. read more

Definitely a great place for Lunch in Ellijay. My husband said his chicken and wild rice soup was delicious. It looked more like a chowder than a soup it was so chunky. He also enjoyed his blt but made a comment that it had too much b and not enough t. Really? Is that a thing?My daughter got the veggie wrap...which she enjoyed but not as much as I enjoyed my roast beef and pepper Jack baguette. It was a busy labor day so we had to wait to be seated but they take your phone # so we were able to browse the stores in the square while we waited. The service was friendly. The porch where we dined looked a little dirty( used napkins on the ground nobody picked up) and the table was a little sticky but those were the only negatives. If you want a sandwich made from off the shelf brand cold cuts you are in luck. Not sure why so many high ratings, maybe I missed something. The soup, tomato and basil, was very good but all the sandwiches we got at the table were average at best. After waiting for nearly an hour and half for a table for 6 (nothing wrong with that at all), we were disappointed to find that our food came out cold. The soup was cold and seemed to be straight from the refrigerator, burgers were so cold the cheese was not melted, and buns were stale. My presumption would be that the kitchen had an off day and the benefit of the doubt could have been given, but not when six meals at our table came out cold. We could have done without the snarky remarks from the waitress and when asked to speak to the manager, only two find out that there was not one at the restaurant. We should have known it was going to be an issue when we watched staff sweeping the floors and stacking chairs in the dining room while patrons were actively eating. I downloaded Yelp to specifically share the experience we had, and if someone else is looking for a lunch in the area, you'd be better off steering clear of the substantially subpar bar food and checking out the restaurants across the street. read more

Wow, I am super surprised at the positive reviews here, despite personally experiencing several issues during our visit yesterday. We came here for a late lunch and here was our experience: 1. We were seated out on the deck (as requested) and there were empty cracker wrappers all over the floor (not just at our table but all over). Even an empty cracker wrapper and straw wrapper left in the condiment basket on our table. What a nice touch! 2. I went to wash my hands and both restrooms were occupied, so I decided to just use the sanitizer dispenser outside of the restroom. Empty. Tried the one at the front door. Empty. Gave up. 3. Food was just okay. Ordered burgers which were nothing special. 4. Our server evidently thought her only responsibility was to take our order, bring our food, and bring the check. Never once checked in on us, and we had to ask for drink and water refills. Our experience took place mid-afternoon when they were not busy. In fact, I watched our server just standing around talking to other staff rather than doing her job. We certainly will not return! read more

This has turned into my go-to lunch spot. The food is excellent - the chicken salad sandwich, mushroom Brie soup, and sweet corn chowders are to die for. I have seen the staff handle busy crowds (when isn't it hopping at Cantaberry?) with grace and a smile. Good food, patio seating available, I chicken salad on a bed of lettuce with some other veggies. Good flavor and a wonderful dressing (can't remember flavor). My husband had a honey turkey club on a croissant and it was so yummy! The staff was busy and brought our check before offering dessert so we didn't order any, but I would have if they had offered it to us. This is always our go to place to 'start' when we come to the mountains. The food is consistent and in large portions. We started our meal with dessert! Cake and pie. Then to sandwiches and soup while enjoying mimosas. The patio is dog friendly and our goldens were right at home. There were four other dogs on the patio. We ordered our sandwiches/ burgers. I had the Prime rib special sandwich. Our lunch was served much later than our neighboring tables. The server brought a side of pasta salad and side of fruit for us to nibble on due to the long wait. It was a nice gesture and thoughtful to do so, but they were not very good. The prime rib special was not so special. The beef was so thinly shredded it looked like mush and was barely noticeable on the sandwich. Food is good and it is right on the square. Our party of four went yesterday at about 3;40pm. They close at 4pm. The girl that greeted us didn't tell us welcome. Instead she told us they closed at 4 and paused we think to see us leave. My wife asked if the kitchen was already closed. The girl said she would have to check. The kitchen said it was ok to order. So we sat down and ordered as the staff continued to mop around us. The service ended up being good and the food was good. But they really need to change their closing time to 3:30 so customers don't feel like they are intruding. read more

We decided to try Cantaberry for dinner after a long day at the winery for my friend's 30th birthday celebration. We were a party of 9 and our waitress was very patient and friendly; however, she kept taking off her mask every time she came over to take our order and check on us. This made us feel unsafe because that completely defeats the purpose. As a waitress serving food and being in close proximity to customers her mask should remain on at all times. If you're not going to properly wear a mask, don't wear one at all. The food was pretty good, everyone seemed to enjoy their dinner. My country fried chicken was lovely and the biscuit it came with was amazing. The fried okra and oysters were excellent. Would give 4 stars but they need to do better on enforcing Covid safety regulations. read more

Always busy cafe on the Courthouse square in Ellijay GA. I had a Rueben, which was excellent, juicy and done well. My daughter had a BLT, again excellent. Waitstaff was quick, even though it was pretty full. Ambiance is a casual meet up vibe, good for mom and daughter, girls day out and family groups. Did I mention the cakes? OMG. When we were there, we sat near the glass case display with incredible cakes! I think I spotted a Lady Baltimore cake (look it up), a triple layer coconut cake, a chocolate confection cake to die for and several others. Sadly, I could not manage a slice but def will be back soon. For cake! read more
