I got to visit Cane Rosso on a warm enough day in December where I could sit outside. I've done some indoor dining in Covid days, but I feel safer with outdoor dining when it's an option, and when the hostess offered the outdoor option, I jumped on it. My friend S and I decided to share an appetizer and a pizza. We ended up getting the bruschetta and the margherita pizza. I loved the bruschetta. It's got lots of flavor and just has a lot of delicious things that I love all on this incredible, fluffy bread. It was the perfect appetizer to share. Onto the pizza, I certainly enjoyed it, but I was not blown away. Maybe my friends hyped the place up to much, maybe it was still too cold to sit outside so the pizza cooled too fast. I'm willing to try it again, but currently this is not my go to pizza. I appreciated the heat lamps for the outdoor seating, and the service was good. Overall a good experience. read more

The Environment: 5/5 Perfect setup for today's day and age, there's a side of the restaurant set up specifically for take-out orders, which limits the amount of unnecessary people entering the restaurant. The dine-in experience is very classic, you get seated after checking in with the host. There are plenty of TV's around the place if you are hoping to catch a game, and there is plenty of space in the restaurant so you won't have to worry about being on top of anyone else. The Food: 5/5 I ordered the calamari, a 'create you own pizza', and a glass of the Cane Rosso (because how do you not order a drink named after the place you're eating at!?). I honestly don't have a single negative word to say about anything I ate during this dinning experience. The calamari was some of the best I've had in YEARS (and possibly ever), fried perfectly, light and airy, but still maintained the perfect amount of crunch; complimented perfectly by the lemon and side of marinara sauce. I decided to go with a create your own pizza option, at first I was worried by the 3-topping limit the mandate, fearing that their wouldn't be enough pizza coverage, but the portions are very reasonable. They have a beautiful wood fire oven, and they have mastered how to use it! Bottom line: if you're on the fence, hop down and head over for a great dinning experience. This review is ONLY from a vegan perspective. I had the opportunity to partake in Cane Rosso's (Deep Ellum) Happy Hour Special, the Margherita pizza with vegan cheese and Spaghetti without meatballs. My server later informed the pasa dish was made with butter. So, I only had the Margherita with vegan cheese. The place was practically empty during Happy Hour at 4:30 p.m. It was a Monday and eclipse day. Great use of one of the older building in Deep Ellum. The service was good and the servicer was personable and courteous. The pizza was out in about 2 minutes. I could tell the pizza was cooked in a wood-fired oven. The thin crust pizza was delicate and light with a slightly charred dough. The sauce was flavorful without being overly sweet. Overall the vegan version of Cane Rosso's Margherita gets a 6/10 from me since they are not a vegan pizzeria. A vegan pizzeria would have gotten a lower score. My score would have been been higher if a better vegan cheese was used. If I'm not mistaken Daiya commerical was used. Would be nice if there was also a vegan pasta and vegan salad option. read more

We eat at various locations around Dfw but this one pretty regularly, like every few weeks sometimes. Never had an issue, and we've been to this specific (Deep Ellum) location 30+ times so far. We had a server named Ema (spelling?) today who just seemed super annoyed by us and argumentative at one point. We ordered two Margherita pizzas, a pepperoni, a honey bastard, and a Cesar salad. My honey bastard came out with black crust and some burnt toppings and I just didn't want to eat a burned pizza, I've ordered 20 of this specific pizza from this exact location and it's the first one to come out burned like this but Ema wanted argue with me and tell me that's just how they come. Ema offered to remake it but at that point I said not to worry about it because we were already clearly a nuisance for having come in to eat there in the first place. I still gave Ema a $14 tip but I normally do 25% or more on my total depending on stuff like how well the server did. I drove an hour round trip in the rain for that stupid honey bastard pizza. Kudos to the rest of the wait and cook staff for always being on point and making our food and normal experiences extremely good ones read more

This was our first stop in Dallas and let's just say "Mamma Mia", this pizza was delicious! The way they make it, is very different than the other places I've gone to. Our waiter did a really good job of explaining to us how it's made in the oven... with the sauce gooey and soft in the middle surrounded by the thin crust. The app we had was also delicious! I was very disappointed when I went to this the Skillman rd location for the first time, I have a service dog and it was a very windy day, I asked the server if I could sit inside and I was denied, she told me that because I have a dog I am not allowed to sit inside. I told her that you are not allowed to deny me with a service dog and she said she did not care that she did not allow it, so we left, terrible experience! Today was my first time eating at Cane Rosso. I was blown away at the services I recieved. My waitress was Jazmine. If you ever go there ask for her!!! She was kind and professional. She eloquently ascertained if we'd already dinned to gain a better understanding of how to best navigate us. She went over the menu items, she had great knowledge on how the food was prepared and also offered suggestions. Jazmine made quite the impact and made it such a great dinning experience. This is easily one of my favorite pizza joints in Dallas and the Deep Ellum location is my go-to location. Neopolitan Pizza is my jam and pizza itself is my love language. Thomas was a fantastic server and very attentive. I was torn between two pizzas (The Jabroni and The Zoli) and he suggested half and half. They were both equally scrumptious and that made my day. My sister got the Honey Bastard which is delicious in its own right. Thomas also suggested the Peach Bella Mella (limited time). I cannot describe the symphony of flavors that came from that dessert pizza. It was truly heaven on earth. If Neopolitan style pizza is your jam, you cannot go wrong here. read more

I don't know how I've gone all this time without writing a review for Cane Rosso because it's the #1 restaurant I take my out of town guests out to. These wood-fired pizzas are some of the best in Dallas. No matter what kind of mood I'm in, I always get the "honey bastard," a made with house-made mozzarella, spicy soppressata (which are basically hot pepperonis), BACON MARMALADE, & habanero honey. I'm telling you this is the absolute perfect combination of spicy, savory, and sweet. (Added a picture here.)Note, sometimes this is not actually on their menu so you'll have to request it. One pizza can fill you and your date up and if you splurge on their zucchini artichoke fritters as an appetizer, you'll definitely have enough food to take home with you. I recently moved down the street from this restaurant in January. One day, I was craving some cheesy bread. I searched Google and Yelp for "Best cheesy bread in Dallas" and this was among one of the restaurants that popped up. I'm a big pizza lover so Cane Rosso being a pizza restaurant was obviously a plus. Two of my favorite things to snack on are the Fried Nugz and the Cheesy Bread. The Fried Nugz are small balls of mozzarella cheese that are breaded and fried. When they are cooked correctly, they are bomb. However, the last 5-6 times I have visited the restaurant, they have been undercooked, and thus kind of soggy and not enjoyable. The cheesy bread is self explanatory, its pretty good, I wouldn't say the best in Dallas. The pizza is Neapolitan style, meaning it's rather thin, and a little doughy--the server always explains it to you before ordering. It is baked in a wood-fired pizza oven that you can see from pretty much anywhere in the restaurant, and it is great. Overall, the restaurant is great. They are a bit short-staffed sometimes, but that is to be expected with the current state of the service industry and labor shortages. I am a regular here and will continue to be a regular here until they give me a reason not to be! Which I doubt they will! read more

Came Russo is good pizza for Texas, and that is coming from an East Coast native. Pizza in the Midwest/South usually doesn't live up to CT and NYC unfortunately, but they try. The sauce is good, the crust isn't bad. The place has a good atmosphere, you feel like it's a nice family restaurant when you sit inside. The drinks are great. My Husband had this frozen sangria that he could not get enough of. This specific location is good, but it's in the city so be prepared to park kind of far and walk. If you are bringing any older people I suggest dropping them out front. The only other thing is the prices are kind of high. We had 3 people with us, all had 1 drink each and we ordered two pizzas somehow it ended up being 80 dollars! read more

Was in Dallas for a few days for a conference and has some colleagues say this was the best pizza they ever had. After that asked a friend from the area for suggestions for food and they also recommended cane Rosso! Next day before my flight I headed over to cane rosso and no surprise, such delicious pizza!! There were so many options and I could not decided. The worker there was so friendly had helped me cut down my choices. She recommended I get something with the candied bacon as it was something unique that they offered! I ended up getting the Delia with added prosciutto!!! So good and I ate the whole thing!! She also mentioned that it was happy hour and there were a few pizzas that were on that menu. There is a large cocktail and beer menu as well. The Truff Daddy pizza (mushrooms and truffle) is amazing!! The mozzarella is homemade and sooo good.
