my bf and i were walking around the shops outside our hotel and wanted some ice cream after we saw a kid having their time of their life with a giant ice cream cone, so we stumbled upon candy row with a giant ice cream cone sculpture outside! the worker greeted us immediately when we walked in and was super nice and helpful. we decided on a single scoop of pistachio ice cream with a waffle cone, which came out to be around $6.50 (kinda expensive, but everything in monterey is higher priced tbh LOL), and this was a pretty simple yet yummy ice cream cone! i believe the ice cream and waffle cone are just a store bought kind, so not really worth the price, but it was overall still a good sweet treat for a warm and humid day. read more

Quality/Quantity - My daughter dropped in for 5 pieces of taffy. Another one of her favorite memories. She even offered me one. :) So I guess she should have bought 6, lol. I am sure she probably did not expect me to say yes. Atmosphere - A clean and organized candy store, see picture. Sorry, my meter was out and I had to run out of the store so almost no pictures. Smart to be located so close to the aquarium; get those kids, lol. Service - The person was on the phone the whole time my daughter was there. But still multitasking. The owner didn't even acknowledge us when we walked in the store. We then asked for help with the ice cream and she made us feel very uncomfortable. Once she scooped the ice cream she pointed to the price and then walked away then she walked to the register and said $7.50 I informed her that I was getting other thing she made the experience not a great one I felt as if she was very racist and I will not be coming back to the location. I don't usually write bad reviews, but after this experience I felt warranted too. I walked into the shop and the lady, which I'm assuming is the owner, didn't even acknowledge us coming in. She seemed to be putting things away. I politely asked her if the store was still open. To which she responded "what do you need help with?" in a very annoyed way. I asked if I could get a scoop of ice cream. She gave a heavy sigh and walked over. When she handed me the scoop of ice cream, there was a long HAIR right on top of the ice cream. I pointed it out to which she seemed annoyed again. She took the ice cream back, grabbed a spoon, SCOOPED THE HAIR OFF, then replaced the ice cream top with a little scoop AND HANDED IT BACK!!! I could not believe a business owner would do that. No apologies or a full replacement. After she walked around the counter she went straight outside and started putting stuff away. I thought maybe I was getting the ice cream for free considering the event. I started walking toward the front and she told me I'll check you out right here. So I did have to pay for hair ice cream. I would never come back here again. Reading the reviews, this seems to be a common personality from the owner. So disappointing. read more

Went in to get some sweets for my kid. Owner (I assume) was walking around and eyeballing us. My daughter spilled some candy on the floor and I was admonished. I offered to pay for it multiple times and even cleaned it up but she kept talking over me pointing at the signs about watching your children. My girlfriend proceeded to get some loose chocolates in the case and they were put in a Ziploc bag. Very cheap. Going to another candy store in the future. read more

The store is located right by the Aquarium it's on a great location, how ever the customer service is poor , the ice cream taste it average , & it was soft melting ( I don't think they have it at the proper temperature) the chocolates looked old ... and we had to wait a while to get help. I love salt water taffy so I had to stop and pick some out! They had barrels of different flavors and I picked up almost all of the fruity flavors. I didn't see the prices listed any where so they're a little sneaky with it. I filled my bag about 3/4 of the way and it was $16.xx! I wasn't given a receipt so I couldn't check how much it was a pound either...smh. Next time, I'll know better. Lol The taffy itself is so good. It's chewy and sticky but doesn't get stuck in my teeth. They also have other sweet treats like jelly beans, fudge, etc. read more

Friendly staff members, great supply of salt water taffy, reasonable prices at $15 per lb. There are other candies but I went in for taffy. Lemon, orange cream, black licorice, chocolate, peppermint and peach taffy. read more

Great candy store with the best prices in the area. Located on Cannery Row, this is the smallest of 4 candy shops we visited. The highest was the shop closest to Bubba Gump at $6.25 per 1/4 lb. This shop was $3.25 per 1/4 lb. and is probably the closest shop the the Aquarium. Filled with bin candy, chocolate, ice cream, stuffed animals, soda pop, prepackaged candy, taffy, fudge, and other knick knacks, this shop is a great stop if you're craving something sweet. read more

Do not get ice cream here. It's old and very soft. They add old ice cream to new tubs, and I was given some of the soft old ice cream and I complained and the woman serving me said "ice cream is soft". It was freezer burned too. Two customers before me had also complained when we were walking in about something (couldn't hear bc my little kids were with me). One left the store saying, "you should consider what a customer is telling you" and left upset. The other customer before me in the ice cream line had been waiting behind 10 customers and when she got to the front she got upset and left with her 3 kids as well. Although I didn't hear, this woman (maybe the owner) doesn't give a shit about treating her customers well. My whole family (including my small children) got ice cream and no napkins were given or even available for spills. My husband helped himself to some paper towels that were hanging in the back, and when the woman came back to serve other customers she saw we had the last of the paper towels and got upset and said, "I don't have any more paper towels, I need them. I should have given you napkins" but there were no napkins in sight. Who decides to run an ice cream shop and not have napkins available to customers? The only reason we ate here is bc my kids got their ice cream first, and bc the standards of 2 and 5 year olds are very low they were satisfied. But my husband and I were pretty pissed. We visited this location for the first time a couple of days ago and the customer service was top notch. The cashier (can't remember her name) was extremely nice and our kids loved the visit. We bought a big bag of salt water taffy. We returned again two days later when we were in the area to say hi and her face lit up when she saw our family. This was the first time that I have been in your candy store. I felt alittle disappointed when I walked in. I thought that was going to be more of a selection of candy then there was. It was just taffy, jelly bellies, and ice cream. I bought a few pieces since I did not want to bring home anything. You might want to jazz up the store with more selections. We wandered in here after going to Monterey Bay aquarium, and this candy store did not disappoint. We selected our favorite flavors of salt water taffy and got some ice cream to boot. The salt water taffy was fresh and the ice cream was delicious! My sister said it was the best ice cream she ever had. Also, the service was great and the prices were reasonable for the area. We took our three kids to Candy Row to get an ice cream after a visit to the aquarium. We got the best service I have seen in a very long time. The lady was very friendly to the kids and us. She didn't try to oversell a huge ice cream cone to our 6 year old daughter but worked with her to find the perfect size that she could finish. This is the place to go for candy and ice cream! As our younger son said walking to the car after the visit: "that lady was so nice, we need to go there again". I can not agree more! read more
