This is NOT a kid friendly store. They cannot tolerate kids and if they laugh or pick up candy they want, they are instantly kicked out of the store. I had a horribal experience and will not be coming back. DONT COME HERE!! read more

I stepped in here and felt like I was in Charlie and the Chocolate factory! They have everything you had growing up as a kid and more! I bought a lot of the salt water taffy. If you don't mind spending a bit more than usual since they weigh the candy you pick then it's worth the vibe. It's like you walked into a time warp with all your favorite candy you had as a kid is inside! Staff was friendly too. read more

This is what I dream of when I dream of a candy store. It is literally filled with what seems like thousands of unique treasures. Being the Plain Jane that I can be sometimes, I just ended up buying taffy (hey, it was soft and fresh!). However, that's only because my friends were too impatient to allow me to browse the store for the hour or more I needed to really indulge in the full experience. I need to go back!! I will drive from Westwood all the way to Laguna Beach just to get a better look of this amazing candy store, the likes of which I thought you could only find in a fairy tale. read more

Candy, candy and more candy. Keep your kids on a leash or they'll go insane!

Fantastic candy store. Aside from dozens of flavors of taffy (banana!), they have just about any other kind of candy you've ever had. I was looking for little coffee hard candies and mini Cow Tails, and they had them both. There's a selection of vintage and international candies at the back as well. What's not to like!? read more

Candy Baron - Interior. Photo by Kevin Dern. - Candy Stores Near Me - Laguna Beach, California

There is so many candy in the shop! So spoilt for choices. However, it is pretty pricey...$6.29 for every half pound. We spent $15 just for just a small bag of candy. read more

This place gets a 5 star rating from me because I went in asking if they had a candy and unfortunately they didn't carry it but a couple weeks later when I returned, it was right there on the shelf. This place may be a bit expensive for some older candies, but it is the place to go when you are looking for something that is not common. read more

$12+ a pound? That is overpriced, but I guess they have to pay the rent somehow. They need better signs stating prices! Even at amusement parks the bulk candy is less money! Great selection. Lots of old fashioned candy and new tangled stuff. Counter person was at a job, not enthusiastic or happy to see customers. A friendly greeting, chit chat, anything other than totaling and asking if I wanted a receipt would have been nice considering I just forked over $35 for bulk candy. read more

This place is yummy, but dangerous! There is such a large selection of candy so you will definitely find something that you like. The only downside to me is that it is pretty pricey, but I guess that is what you get for being in downtown Laguna. read more

If your looking for the perfect all American candy shop this is your place. "Like a kid in a candy store" is exactly how I feel when I grab my little basket and shop all these marvelous bins and shelves. The best! Cool small gifts too. read more

Candy Baron - They have every candy you need - Candy Stores Near Me - Laguna Beach, California

Came to Laguna Beach with my friend to go to the cat cafe, but when we came they said they closed early today. So, we went shopping on the streets and came across this candy shop. They had sour hi-chews and a great assortment of candy. I would recommend coming here to find your favorite childhood candy. read more

Crooks! Completely scandalous crooks. Beware! These creeps overcharge you and expect you're too stupid or naive to notice. Pay attention to how they ring you up- that sparkling water that has a posted price of $2.99 will be rung up as $3.99. The candy that is $1.50 each will be rung up as $2.50, etc. You have to watch them carefully though- because they won't hand you an itemized receipt, just a slip with your total. read more

I stop into the Candy Baron every time I'm in Laguna! There is not one piece of Candy that I've wanted that I haven't been able to find here. They have it all! I suggest stopping in here to stock up on beach or Pagent of the Masters snacks! read more

If you love taffy candy, this is the place to go! There's tons of flavors plus many other kinds of candy & unique little gifts. The lady who works here is very nice and suggested the maple bacon flavored candy. There's a location at Pier 39 in Fisherman's Wharf in San Fransisco as well. They're both good stores. read more

I think it is a great place to consider if you want some candies that you ate in your childhood but are not available in the normal stores anymore. read more

Fantastic! Candy Baron is a chain, I believe, but I love this place anyway! As everyone mentions, it is very old fashioned, all the candy is actually on barrels, and you get a basket to fill with what you like. This place has a great variety of salt water taffy, the old school candy: Mary Jane, Peanut butter bars, Chik-O-Stiks, Abba-Zabba(you-my-only-friend), Tootsie roll pops, Candy Cigarettes, Crybabies, Lemon Heads, Cherry Clan, Boston Baked Beans.... Candy Baron also has sugar free candies (e.g. Godiva, some taffies, hard candies), and imported from various parts of the world (Lion Bars, Bounty Bars, Baci*). Gripe: Slightly expensive :P Like: Everything else! :D Also like that they portion the gummy candies so that you dont overdo it. Come to Candy Baron to reminisce about a time we (or at least I wasn't) weren't alive! *mi molto piace i Baci! read more

Great selection of candies from childhood, but beware you're going to pay a steep price. Personally, I'd just go here for candy that you can't find in your regular grocery store because a movie sized box of junior mints is going to cost you $5. So stick to specialty candies that are difficult to find and you'll be happy. read more

Love this place! Awesome variety and great old fashioned finds! They even have DZ Dutch licorice.... very hard to find. And you MUST try the buttered popcorn taffy! read more

Willy Wonka heaven. This place has been here forever and they have the best selection of imported and domestic candies ever! Most of the candy is in old woodern bins and you can pick out the stuff you like and it gets weighed at the end. Be careful-it is a little pricey and your eyes are always bigger than your budget. Great selection of salt water taffy and candies from around the world. Candy cigarettes and Violet Crumble (what ever happened to Olivia Newton John's clothing store she had in Crystal Court?-that was the only place you could find this candy). Parking is horrible if you can't find a spot in the meters out front. We always get dropped off and run in to do our shopping. read more

The good: An amazing candy selection. The bad: WAAAAAY overpriced. I'd say go but keep your basket in-check so you're not surprised at checkout! read more

It ended up being 35$ for two small bags of candy. Expensive. Also I got home and found that most of my candy ended up being expired. Don't go. You end up spending money to throw it in the trash!! read more

I loved this candy store. They had a huge selection. A lot was old fashioned candy I remembered from years ago. Most is priced by weight. I really enjoyed the loose candies being placed in small bags. Usually I don't buy any because of all the possibilities of it being exposed. I thought it was very sanitary. I appreciated that! read more

Their toffee is incredible. I live in San Diego, and occasionally make the drive to go see them on the way to my uncle's and pick up 2-4 jars each time. They make great gifts, and I stress that because if you don't give them away, you may fall into the trap of eating half-jars each sitting until you run out D: read more

Soo expensive but they have astronaut ice cream and chocolate rocks which I love! I mulled around the store for a while gasping at all the prices. I finally caved on the chocolate rocks and dippin dots-esque freeze dried ice cream. I went up to the counter and told the older man cashier "you got me..." as I handed him the $7.99 container of rocks. When he realized I was making a joke and not being rude, he chuckled. I'll be finding cheaper chocolate rocks online but this is a novelty store and is fun to look around in if your close by. read more

In reviewing my favorite winter candy store, Kilwin's Chocolates & Ice Cream of Venice, Florida, I realized I had been remiss in reviewing my favorite candy store, in my favorite town. Candy Baron is like entering a time machine, taking you back to an old fashioned penny candy store, only more expensive, though certainly more than fair for it's prime location. I will gladly pay more, to keep a quaint gem like this in town. The joint is HUGE too, and always jumping! From Taffy to Tootsie Pops and probably any candy from your childhood you can think of, that is still in production, Candy Baron has an amazing selection of candy you've forgotten but will make you smile & remember, when you see it. The best thing they carry, which sadly my winter candy store doesn't (anymore), are chocolate covered Gummy Bears, though lately they've been out of the dark chocolate, which I prefer to the milk chocolate covered Gummy Bears. Laguna Beach is paradise, in winter, spring, summer & fall, and it's unique, amazing places like Candy Baron that help make it that much more memorable. read more

This is still my favorite shop in LB. They've got every kind of packaged candy imaginable, and the people working here are so into helping you find what you want. They've got all of the candies that were my favorites when I was a kid. Plus, they've got lots of fun candy novelty items. The only notable negative is the Baron's high prices (that's where they lost the fifth star), so you don't come here for value. You come here for the experience and the selection of candies that you won't be able to find anywhere else. read more

The best place to get candy I wish it was a little less expensive but their taffy is amazing and worth the price!

i dont usually feel the need to give bad reviews to places but this place really deserved one. they OBVIOUSLY scoffed and rolled their eyes at me and my friends... like one of the workers looked at the other worker at the door and did rude gestures while glancing at us. yea i fasho got out as soon as i saw that cuz that was really unnecessary. get better bro yikes if i could give 0 stars i would read more

today on Sunday, July 12th, I went here with my mom while going to the beach and I just have to say the place looks amazing and also I brought my surfboard there and a guy told me to leave it in the front and he will watch it for me witch I appreciated that a lot. anyways the store looked amazing and also the amount of candy in there was astronomical with the great picks and even bugs....if you're into that but still I had to give it 4 stars because it's kinda expensive but understandable due to the places the large size of candy and stuff. so I give it 4 stars. also, there was a rat in my- jk :) read more

Holy Salt Water Taffy! I've been coming here as a kid every time we were in Laguna. The choice of Salt Water Taffy is endless. My personal favorites are coffee, maple, vanilla, and popcorn. They also have a wide range of other candies too! There are even a few German options. Try Kinder! This is a must visit whether you live in Laguna or visiting! read more

There are almost no words to describe this place. They have EVERY kind of candy, old school and new that you can imagine. You want some funny candy gift ideas, they have it! Lunch boxes like Star Wars, Wonder Women etc, how fun is that!?I swear they have stoner candy, LOL. This place is hilarious but there seriously is not a candy here that you had as a kid that is not here! All loose candy is sold by the pound. You have to stop in here, brings out the best memories ever. read more

Rude staff. I agree 100% with ASHLEY below. This owner or manager or employee on duty is very very rude. We were walking around and picking up items to buy (at least $20 in our hand) and we took a picture of one of the candies to send to our friend to make sure it was the right one that they wanted and the guy came over and took the items out of our hands and said NO PICTURES. My wife and I both looked at him with our mouth on the floor and said we are making sure this is what our friend wants. As he continued to put the product back on the shelf we walked out in SHOCK. Do not go here! read more

WTF, Candy Baron? You really stopped carrying the only thing that kept me coming back? I want my Violet Crumble, bitches! That delicous Australian treat of chocolate-covered honeycomb gave me a reason to drop Washingtons in your store like they were burning up my pockets, but you stopped. Even worse, you suggest that some cheap UK imitation would satisfy my craving. Pathetic. Still, you've got an assload of candy, almost all of which is tasty. So I'll give you a pass. But you need to work on getting back my shit. read more

The selection of candy is amazing! However, the candy is old. I purchased a chocolate candy and the chocolate was stale and the marshmallow inside was not gooey as it should have been, it was rubbery. They may have a large quantity to choose from, but the quality lacked. But the store is cool to look through. read more

I moved into town and discovered this store. I was excited to go in and buy some candy. Unfortunatley with the huge selection I can`t really find anything I like. It`s mainly full of taffy and gummi`s. The people are not the friendliest to deal with. HOWEVER -- The prices are way to high for what they have.. A pack of 'mallo cups' for 2 bux?? No thank you . After yesterday I wont be back..... This place is a tourist trap like the Ice cream-yogurt store up the street on the corner of PCH.. read more

Owner is impolite. Doesn't even know how to greet or smile to its customers. So unprofessional. I will never recommend this place.

A second visit brought about more heavily perfumed candy. Candy Baron staff needs to use gloves when handling candy. An email to the store yielded no response. I think Rocket Fizz, the new candy store in town, will be the new go to. Better pricing too. read more

I bought more than $11.00 worth of salt water taffy, mixed, a few days ago but had to throw away more than 80% of them. I tasted a few first and they were all so bad that I started to open one by one and cautiously took a bite. Most of them tasted beyond being bad and I had to spit them out--tasted like chemical. They were very old, stale and absolutely not palatable! I can't say about the variety of other candies they carry, but the taffy candies were absolutely terrible! Expensive waste!! read more

The ultimate tourist trap in all of Laguna Beach!! I'm giving it two stars just for the sake of novelty items but try to buy any regular, old (very old) gummy bears...$6 for a palm size amount. Unfortunate business plan my friends!! read more

I'm all for nostalgic specialty candy shops and I was so excited to find Violet Crumble bars! However, it was a letdown to take the first bite and discover it was unmistakably stale. Then I read the wrapper and the "best by" date was months past. Hmm... Candy Baron, I don't complain about paying over $4 per imported candy bar, perhaps you could insure the merchandise is fresh in exchange? Other than that, the shop is adorable and squeezing past barrels of salt water taffy and chattering teens/tourists adds to the old tyme feel. read more
